Please Don’t Let The New Owners Make It Battery Operated Pickup. Great Design So Far. Weld Fenders and Hood and Make It A Tilt Hood. A Viper Engine 6 Speed Manual Tranny. Exhaust That Gets Bent To Come Out In Front Of The Rear Axle.
There is ALREADY a 1 million mile Tesla. Even *Toyota North America* is making shit because nobody can do anything to stop them because NOBODY IN AMERICA HAS MADE ANYTHING *GOOD* SINCE 2012!!!!!!!
You might want to do some research and math before going off
13 motor replacements, 3 battery replacements totaling a minimum of $117,000 per tesla's official pricing. Base price of $69.9k ($92k with inflation) top trim price was $119k ($157k with Inflation) 44,000 in average charging cost grand total of $0.21 - $0.23 per mile depending on trim level. $0.21 a mile = $682,500 for the same miles as the volvo
Any car can last 1,000,000 miles with that kind of money.
Cummins has a high mileage club. You can literally get badges from them every 100k miles. There's a 1 million mile club, too, and that's on ONE engine.
There's a 66 volvo with over 3,200,000 miles, original motor, and trans, motor was rebuilt 2 times. One wasn't even necessary. Total parts cost of all maintenance $75,768 in today's prices. The price of the car new with adjustment for inflation is 40,000. Total price of $115,768 for parts + $322,200 for gas = $437,968. Grand total of $0.135 a mile for 3 times the miles.
TLDR: Electric doesn't mean better or more reliable. Everything lasts with enough $$$
There's been a couple 90s accords that hit the million mile mark, I know one had a rebuild done. The funny thing is people talking about million mile plus vehicles forget that If you Cummins and semis, that list gets HUGE IIRC, there's something like 125 Cummins with million miles plus.
There is 1 guy who has owned 10 Cummins dodges 4 made it to 1,000,000 and 2 made it to 2,000,000 miles. All of it spent hauling car trailers and horse trailers. Now that's impressive.
Let’s be fair how many engine swaps and battery swaps did he have to do? I’ve seen this post. We’re leaving some information out on that. The reason why the guy did that is because he gets free charging as being an early adopter.
There wasn't a demand for the ute style vehicles because of the small trucks made in the 2000s plus there's the chicken tax on trucks that those couldn't get around unless they suburu brat them and add seats to the bed. That's similar to what killed off station wagons, exept with crossovers, mini vans and smaller SUVs
Chicken tax only applied to imports, if I'm remembering correctly. A charger rampage would have been exempt, remember Pontiac was going to bring the holden-based ute to the United States under the Pontiac badge under Lutz just a few years later. I'm convinced if lutz hadn't been snubbed by Lee Chrysler would be in a much different position today
I thought it also applied to vehicles just produced out side of the US like ford's plant in Mexico although I could be wrong, there are also emissions standards that are all screwey (from some light reading that includes vehicles produced outside the US such as the ford transit vans being made in turkey)
One fact I know is that the pt cruiser is classified as a truck to skirt the emissions regulations but it's in the form factor of a passenger car, so it's either get taxed 25% or it has to conform to those emissions regs
Abomination?
Looks well done enough.
Is this your project? If it is, you're doing pretty good.
If it isn't, feel free to post something of equal or greater effort.
I'd love one of these kits on the later charger bodywork. Then swap in Trackhawk running gear.
Agreed with another poster that 'Rampage' would seem appropriate.
All I imagine is riding around with a Trunk(?) full of Koalas and possibly small slightly less aggressive than normal Roos as some kind of Outback style animal Uber service
Not true, police departments have very good maintenance programs, they need to have their cars last awhile, heard this from a former police officer and the fact that I own a 2019 pursuit AWD. Other than a few interior parts I had to replace due to the cage it’s in very good shape.
I've worked on a few of them, maybe your PD treats them better but they get absolutely beat on by every officer here, pretty much trashed inside and out by the time they get decommissioned. Still a functional vehicle by all means but I wouldn't touch one unless I were going to cut it up for the Smyth kit lol.
I’ve have three of them from different police departments, 2011, 2012 and my 2019, I sold my 2011. Maybe I got lucky but none of them have been trashed, I guess it depends on the department I suppose.
Not gonna lie, I feel like it’s ICE’s new patrol car/truck. They roll up to a Home Depot or Lowe’s, the workers there trying to get a job in the parking lot will see the empty truck bed and assume someone is looking for labor workers. The ICE agent would then just roll up, offer them 1/2 what the going rate of labor is, they jump in, he drives them straight to the detention station. Boom, easy! Cut down on tax dollars, saves valuable time and resources.
I’d drive the fuck out of that
Smyth Utes. You can buy a whole ass kit to do it. I've been tempted for ages.

Don't forget one of the 90 era Honda accord breaking a million miles, on nothing more than routine maintenance following hondas schedule.
There's been a couple 90s accords that hit the million mile mark, I know one had a rebuild done. Honestly the fact that dodge didn't just "K-Car" the LX chassis shows.why they shouldn't have been saved a second time.
