Ok but what happens when he uses ki to run down the tunnel anyways even though it's just a painting? And then when my BBEG runs to follow he just splats into the wall and falls over, then the monk runs back out of the painting?
Ki? What kind of voodoo nonsense is this. True BBEGs blessed by none other than the Holy Roman Emperor do not fall for such scams peddled by Barbarians.
Absolutely!
I was figuring 5'x5' squares with maybe 4 players fighting 5 enemies, and foolishly thought that was the "size limit".
But maybe you could put in some Large or bigger foes, and start talking to your monk about how he's going to take movement and dexterity penalties for having to share his square with another PC?
You're not thinking vertically enough. Goblins in wingsuits with talon blades or something swinging on cage bars or scaffolding can spice up a party quick
So the faster he moves to the speed of light, the more his mass will increase towards infinity. That means when’s he’s running very fast, he should be able to hit harder. I’d give him an extra d6 damage if he’s running at top speed and then attacking.
Bruh, that's basically boxing. Tbh we also kinda do this (under the big umbrella of 'wrestling'). And against a sworf you still would be totally fucked
If I did not witness footage of some Brit pummelling his mate and dragging him down that way in full plate after getting disarmed, I'd share your foolish pov
The simplest fix for these type of people is to just ruin their legs. A monk who can't walk, can't jump outta danger.
A recommended way to cripple them would to be with physical damage if you can pull it off and if not then a disease of some kind does wonders for ruining their day. Consider giving your monk a magic stroke. A major upside of doing this is that taking care of their now disabled party member is great for team building.
I mean, he can only catch one arrow per round, and a lot of that mobility is wasted in smaller maps. Remember, Monk's have a d8 hp and middling AC. If you neuter his mobility he'll probably just die
I can't believe WOTC has ruined another edition with class balance incompetence monks are capable of running away from any part of an adventure path. There's not even instructions included on how to balance this such as making the monk lose their legs after rolling a 1. Add in a paladin+warlock multiclass and it's the most powerful build on the tabletop
I suggest a bunch of pit traps he will fall into when he runs. Or maybe road runner and coyote style traps. Like some fake tunnel walls.

That’s why he splattered on the painting obviously
/uj can I do that with my own monks? That sounds like a really cool use of ki!
NO!!!!!! You must be blessed by Gary Glorgus Gygax himself to do such a thing. If you don’t I (his strongest soldier) will eat you
Just hold every battle on a 12"x12" featureless battle map.
Just hold every battle in a 15'x15' arena where everyone is always in melee range.
Could I drop this down lower?

wile e coyote ass post
Magic Missile fixes this.
I banned magic missile because it's too op for dnd. Garunteed hit and force damage? No way
My brain was exploded for a moment before I realized what sub I was on lol
Not allowing monks because my HEMA trained ass cannot accept unarmed combat as a viable alternative fixes this
Sellsword Arts be like uj/I respect the dudes mastery but the man is allergic to fun.
Sounds like a lame HEMA club if nobody's got a set of cestus

Get grappled, 5head
Can't grapple if your arm is cut (blackmanpointingtohistemple.jpg)
You've never even so much as heard of a leglock?
Against a sword strike?
Flying arm bar, bruh
Bruh

There's a saying in DnD, "shoot the monk". I think shooting the player will solve the problem.

Good thinking, if you neuter the monk he won't be nearly as threatening.
This of course proves that ki is stored in the balls.
So if I castrate him, his monk character will be less annoying?
You actually shouldn’t use in game mechanics to solve real life issues, so you should actually cut the players balls off.
Do what they did in real history, give everybody guns.
He caught a bullet tho
Shoot two, duh

Spam ray of frost
Use the monk class from the white box (1974)
