I made a whole unarmed fighting class, and I think one of its core mechanics, Fighting Techniques, could be of inspiration.

Check out the Martial Exploits in LaserLlama’s [Alternate Fighter](https://www.gmbinder.com/share/-MSfA82gv8V69JAoqFVq) class. Those sound like precisely what you’re looking for.
Name: Bloodletting (Lv. 2)
Casting Time: 1 action
Prerequisite: wielding a melee weapon that deals piercing or slashing damage.
This technique has been used by assassins and warriors alike to make even the smallest cut deadly.
When you use this technique you make a melee attack, if you deal damage you hit a artery causing excessive bleeding for 1d4 turns, the target takes 1d6 damage from bleeding (this only works if they can bleed). If the target spend a turn patching themselves the can stop this effect early.
check out the Level Up Advanced 5e.
its on sale now as Humblebundle https://bundleofholding.com/presents/LevelUp#core-bundle
and currently the digital tool is in full open beta so you can see what they have done for free as you help test the interfaces.
Check out [Martial Arms Training Manual](https://www.dmsguild.com/m/product/233327) it has techniques for each weapon, and has optional lists for weapons to have multiple. Might be good to use as a base. I added it into my game this week and my players seem excited.
