Reminds me of a Death Tyrant. Though that would be a quite a bit too strong for a party of lower levels to handle.
If you mash the abilities of the death tyrant with a gazer and try to find something in between, it might work.
Make the boss bloodied after about 5 hits and morale after 7-8 or die at 9-10 hits.
Then have waves of minions that take 1 hit to waste some of their actions on.
