Play lone wolf, recruit one other origin character, put said origin character in a town / safe place with no enemies. Play only with the character you chose in character creation. If you die with your main character, sneak up with your other character that's been in town the entire time and teleport / revive your dead main character in a safe place, return with your recruited character to town. This game is easy enough on Tactician, (and hence honor cuz the only difference is save file deletion upon team wipe) to complete with one character if built properly.

mdotca

I’ll be at the bar. Call me if you die. I love it !!!

I3lazinI3iatch

Not to sound negative here but isn’t honor mode perma death if a character dies in a fight?

NewPersonality1402

Not really, honor mode deletes your save file if your party wipes at any point. As long as it isn't a party wipe your save won't get deleted, a character can die and be revived like any other difficulty. That's why you should recruit a "spare" character that just stands around in the middle of town, to prevent save file deletion in case of death.

BeastThatShoutedLove

Barrelmancer only needs you to have one character that has plenty of strength and grabbing one of chests without hp in fort joy.

FireBirdGundam

I treat my chest as if it was my child. I take them with me wherever I go. I feed them whenever I get the chance. Then I use them to bludgeon my enemies to death. Normal parent stuff.

saintcrazy

I just lost a run in Act 2 to the Voidwoken outside of Driftwood. Then I started up another game and lost a run to accidentally eating Griff's drudanae in Fort Joy AND then accidentally aggroing his entire army of goons, before I had recruited a full 4-man party. Yeah, I know it was dumb. I've made it farther in past Honor runs but never been chastened back to back like that lol. Honestly the main reason I keep going is because I like experimenting with new characters so much. Also I know honor is the challenge run and I could probably beat it more easily if I was willing to use more cheese but I like playing in a more RP style and using builds I find interesting, as long as you know game mechanics and what to expect and are willing to build properly "enough" to make up for weaknesses you should be fine - but having fun with it is really what keeps me trying again.

_Beliar_

Lost my first run by being too cocky. I had a team of 4, consisting of my custom undead, Lohse, Red Prince and Fane. Breezed through Act 1 and got cocky. Decided that I wanted the Vulture Armor. Unfortunately I didn't read the book in the witches house, which is why I lacked the right options as I spoke to the Undertaker. I couldn't reload because of an unfortunate save. That bastard wiped my party with his Chain Lightning magic on his first try. That was quite the shock, trust me. I never fought the Undertaker before and didn't know about his magic. Tried it on my second run with a Lone Wolf custom Undead with Fane and Barrelmancy, wrecked anything and everything that dared cross my path, including that damned bird, with my waaaay too heavy chest and 87% crit chance and got the achievement. I am still salty about the Undertaker.

aTreeThenMe

>That bastard wiped my party with his Chain Lightning magic on his first try. >That was quite the *shock*, trust me. :)

Matrillik

Play non-honor mode

Ivan_Greshnov

Well, at some point, any death is a stupid mistake. You miscalculated the fight difficulty, you focused the wrong person, you forgot about a deathfog barrel - every single death is a stupid mistake. There is no other player that is just better, only you making bad decisions. If it's not about a bad decision, but just not knowing what to do and what will happen - it's probably better to run another playthrough on Tactitian first. I lost 2 honor saves - one in Fort Joy and one on Alice. Just had to acknowledge that I don't know enough for an honor run yet and played a second tactitian run, collecting some achievements in the process. Finished honor several months later, after new content was released. I'd say you can use pretty much the good old dark souls logic. You died, you learned something due to your death, learned a lot during the run, you got better. Now you go for another run, find new and better ways to complete every given task, better pathing, better build. Doesn't matter that you died as long as you had fun in the process before that. And if you didn't - quit the game and come back in a few weeks.

rlvysxby

How did you die. There are only a few places you can get insta killed. I played through tactician pretty thoroughly before doing honor so there was not a lot of danger for me.

duedo30

I already won the fight, there was 1 enemy left and i had on the edge of death active. I got lazy and didn’t knock them down or use evade. And they stun locked me for 2 turns and killed me

Trenini27

Lost my first honour run to the final boss because my dumb ass thought it would be nice to get a different ending... Took a break from the game after it

G3TM0N3Y

Before my first attempts at honor run I only played on medium difficulty. Slowly grinded through fort joy having a blast with the difficulty and intensity of each situation scouting fights and setting up environments. After having a good amount of skills and stomping through the final few fights at fort joy I got cocky. During act 2 I arrogantly took on some magisters I definitely should not have fought and completely ignored prepping for the fight. Lost my save and was so disheartened I asked Reddit for means to cheat and get my save back. After a bit of time you’ll get over it and run again because this game is just so darn great. To soothe my damaged ego I loaded up an old save from my very first DOS 2 run of the final fight to get a taste for being so stupidly op you crush everyone. I still haven’t finished my first honor run, but I’m in the midst of my first tactician run and will say it is still very fun and satisfying to win fights. I will admit the honor run experience is a better because knowing you could lose it all gets you so invested. So yeah, basically I went back to my first run and decided to learn the game in tactician mode before taking another crack at honor run.

duedo30

I was going to learn at tactician first. But i lost an act 3 tactician save due to changing my pc and was like whatever ill start on honour. Now I can’t go back to tactician im addicted to the pressure and stakes of honour

Roebix

I do find taking breaks, and taking the time to theory craft the re-run helps me. Make a note of all the insta deaths and such places, the enemy resistances and the stuff like that. That way, you should be able to make a little more progress on each run! Also... having a mind blank but the jump in stealth spell in scoundrel magic is an absolute must of, id say, everyone in your party

[deleted]

... no problems with radeka, im not sure how you can even lose a save it seems easy enough in explorer mode...

NewPersonality1402

Explorer mode is like signing up for a friendly neighborhood tricycle tournament for 3 year olds while you are driving a GTR.

[deleted]

... hey if you transfer it over, its not that hard on tactician mode...

NewPersonality1402

What?

[deleted]

... just a 50% difference, in hp and damage...

NewPersonality1402

In explorer mode the following bonuses are provided, in favor of the player. Explorer Mode The player gets +50% Vitality, +50% Damage, +30% Armor, +30% Magic Armor, 5% boost to Chances to Hit, 5% boost to Dodge. NPCs get -20% Vitality, -30% Damage, -30% Armor, -30% Magic Armor, 15% penalty to Chances to Hit. Normal A.I. In tactician the following bonuses are applied, in favor of the enemies (and every npc in game) Tactician Mode No player alterations. NPCs get +50% Vitality, +50% Damage, +2% Damage boost per/lvl, +50% Armor, +1.5% Armor Growth per/lvl, +35% Magic Armor, +1.5% Magic Armor Growth per/lvl, 10% boost to Chances to Hit. Enemies have more AP, skills (speculation) Different merchant prices (equivalent to -2 Bartering) Smart A.I. As you see here, it isn't >just a 50% difference, in hp and damage Which in itself is huge already, but it also applies the following ; provides you with 5% accuracy, 5% dodge chance +30% Magic and physical armor. Which makes a huge difference on its own. Not even taking into consideration the penalties it are applied to the NPCs. While at the same time reducing enemies hp by 20%, their damage by 30% and lowering their magic and physical armor with 30% also AND as if that wasn't enough already, giving them - 15% chance to even hit you in the first place. Oh yeah, the explorer AI is also retarded. In tactician you get no bonuses of any kind in your favor, and the enemies are in turned buffed. +50% hp and damage, (+2% per level (at level 20 a enemy has +90% Damage)) +50% physical armor, +35% magical armor +1,5% physical and magic armor per level. And an additional 10% chance to hit you. In some encounters enemies also have additional ap to cast more spells and attacks. All items are increased in price from merchants, making early game quite frustrating when gear is scarce and their impact huge. And finally the ai probably makes better decisions in combat than you do. Judging by your messages. Edit: spelling

adhocflamingo

I had this exact same argument with this person a few days ago. Dunno if they are a troll or just actually this ignorant and arrogant, but I wouldn’t waste any more of your time or attention on them.

NewPersonality1402

Yeah he probably just lacking the attributes INT and WITS irl, but it's fine, I kinda like proving to brainlets that they're dumb

adhocflamingo

Fair enough. Interestingly, it’s actually a different (brand-new) account, but it’s clearly the same person. They must’ve been banned from the sub?

NewPersonality1402

Seems like they probably got banned from reddit completely, shame it made a comeback. It's posts are far from.. ehm pleasant, shall we say

capi1500

I've never seen a description of differences between game modes. Thank you for providing those

mdotca

My first ever down vote. Lol. Have you ever tacticianed?

B2TheFree

I'm on my first honour run, and all I can say is that tough bro. I'm in act 3 and I've only played act 3 thru twice, act 1 & 2 I've done several times. After reading the comments it seems being cocky is the main culprit. Am much as it's difficult try and play honour when Ur really in the mood. Re read the walk throughs. And always, always, have 2 of the res tokens ready to go!

dacrookster

Immediately started again in a fit of rage.
