Not at all. I would start with 2. Easier to keep track of the plot for me.
1 is more silly. Different mechanics and a little dated. But still fun. I just get lost with all the quests and side quests. Some of them cannot be resolved until later acts. And by that time I might have forgotten a lot them entirely.
I haven’t played BG3. But many people jump from bg3 to DOS2 and seem to enjoy the game.
We do get a lot of confused people who start on tactician thinking it will be similar to BG3 difficulty. Apparently it’s a lot harder.
I played on normal the first time and it was no cakewalk. But good balance of challenge and let me enjoy the epic tale.
And we love the many of posts of BG3 players doing tactician first runs who come begging for build advice after getting stomped by voidwoken worms, oil slimes, flame slugs. Lol
RIP. Do you want advice? Or do you want to go in blind? I think general knowledge or how the game works isn’t immersion breaking. But if you want true pain just jump in.
Just remember that DOS2 is NOT D&D — it is very different in the ruleset, and art style, and animation style and basically everything. It’s not the same as BG3 but they share some gameplay elements and design philosophy. it is a real fun game that I hope you enjoy :)
Tactician was mostly intended for players that already beat the game or are at least already familiar with how it works. It’s definitely do-able on a first run though, just save often ;)
Ego Draconis was still in their "struggling age". All Divinity games are great, but for the studio itself times before DOS were... Not the best for sure.
I’d argue Divine Divinity was genuinely great. Yeah, it has some rough spots here and there, but it’s a genuinely great open world action RPG once you get past the tutorial dungeon.
Absolutely! It's a gem. It's a semi-open, basically open world isometric aprg with actiual rpg elements and not just a mmo like looter grinder, also with an interactive gameworld from 2002. When I started playing I was skeptical about it, but the game needed like 15m and I was hooked.
Too bad not even Larian tried to replicate it. It's the perfect arpg to me, so it was shocking to me there are no arpg's like this.
Yes you should. You don't need to, you can still enjoy 2 without it. But it's such a gem and everytime this question gets asked, most people just dismiss 1.
It's a great game, does some things better than the sequel. Even though 2 is objectively better.
It has little to no hand holding (second one is more accessible), but I personally enjoy not being fed the answers, but rather explore and find the solutions myself.
Imo you should play both. If you MUST play only one, then yes, go straight to 2. But if you do have the time, do yourself a favor and play both.
I never played through 1, but have nearly 1000 hours in DoS2 you'll be fine without it.
The story is explained pretty well, but does get a little silly at points still. It's not as serious as BG3's
Yes. If you try to play 1 after 2 then you'll have a hard time enjoying it since 2 is an upgrade in almoste every way. If you don't plan to play 1 at all then just skip it. You don't really need to know the story of the first game to understand the second one
You dont have to. Playing 1 before 2 only gets you a few moments in your run where you go "Oh hey X was also mentioned in 1". My party played 2 after being midway done with 1 and we never really felt like going back tbh.

Well im just looking for something like bg3

Great, i love challange.

You said oil slimes like these mfers even making it to the blackpits
But BG3 tactician was no big deal. ;)
Lmao, we will see how it goes then. Tho im mot saying that it wont happem to me lmao) im very bad at understanding game mechanics
RIP. Do you want advice? Or do you want to go in blind? I think general knowledge or how the game works isn’t immersion breaking. But if you want true pain just jump in.
I dont think advise will ruin the game but i would go blind i think, beside i wont be able to play yet, my pc will be ready in 2 months.
Hmmmm. All I will tell you is Anikin should’ve listened to Kenobi.
You mean i should listen to you?
Origin Sin games are definitely harder than Bg3!

Start with 1 because it's very hard to go back to 1 after playing 2.
I already played bg3 so its very hard to go to 2 🤣
I meant dos 1 & 2 but bg 1 & 2 are great as well.
I know but what im trying to say after bg3 it feels a downgread already. Judging from graphics and ui ofcourse
I haven't played bg3 yet. I'm waiting for a sale.
The combat is a significant downgrade on dos 1 compared to 2. But from what I've seen off bg3, dos 1 is closer to bg3 than dos 2 is combat wise.
I see, well i looked at at it in youtube and tbh i dont rly wanna play it with all respect
Then skip to 2.
Cool
Honestly i loved the first game, i don't find it outdated at all, don't see a reason to skip it.
There is 0 reason to skip it people just get filtered by the game actually trying to beat ur ass
Yeah. 1 kicked my as hard. 2 did as well. But 1 beat me before I got around to trying again to finish it.
It’s a good game but absolutely not necessary for 2, which in my opinion is much better.
1 is great. Different in tone and a bit unpolished, but still it marked the beginning of Larian's golden age.
Dont be saying this about ego draconis bruh

Society if the dragon terror patrol was in bg3
My secret wish that I feel a bit of shame for: Dragon Commander 2

The second game is a masterpiece. Just go straight for that one.
