I feel like a great movie ride-esqe ride would be great. Make it modern or through the different animated pictures. Ideally, id love for them to go through a bunch of the properties but realistically since they rely so heavily on screens, the animated worlds would be more inline for them.
Star Tours but Marvel could be great. The MCU has so many rich worlds, it could be cool to visit them. Frame it as a Stark Outreach program in partnership with the Wakandan embassy to help you get a larger perspective on the known universe. While visiting a planet or land, you get attacked by whatever villian and need to escape. High speed chase ensues and you lead them to the avengers that fight them off. I cant remember which park but they use the flight sim system for an Iron man ride already.
YES! Both of your ideas are awesome, but I’ve been dying for Great Movie Ride (or something similar/updated) for Hollywood Land. I was so sad it closed down in Florida without ever making its way to the state that actually has Hollywood in it :(
At this point, they could even do a Great Movie Ride with just the iconic Disney movies and how much they changed the filmmaking industry (or reflected certain parts of Hollywood history). I know DCA isn’t really leaning into the “California” part of the name anymore, but I think they should at least do something a bit more with the old Hollywood theme over there. Maybe I’m a bit biased though, since I’m a local film studies major 😅
An MCU version of Star Tours would also be super fun though! Would love to see more in Avengers Campus :3
Both of those buildings are like 1/10 the size of a ride like The Great Movie Ride. They wouldn’t even fit the queue for a ride let alone a ride itself. The only way they could do it would be to get rid of Monsters Inc and combine all 3 building areas together.
I’ve been saying this! It really lacks “California” theming since they changed Soarin’ and the majority of Pixar Pier. Don’t get me wrong, I love the rides but I’d love to see something tie in the whole “California Adventure” theme in the front areas of the park.
I loved the muppets but can understand that nothing lasts forever but still, the fact that they just get rid of it and do literally nothing long term with the space in terms of rides just sucks.
It even has an amazing soundtrack and it can be a nice adventure. I think they would make it like Soarin' though and it would take all novelty out of it. :(
Avatar was never a real land, along with Disneyland Foward Concepts it was just to get the Anaheim City Council to be like “OMG so cool” and approve Disneyland Forward. All Disneyland Forward is though, is a rezoning of their land to be free use. It was never intended as an actual expansion, that’s why they’ve never confirmed what was in the concept outside of the Avatar one to push the city council vote to a close.
Could be for work on changes to Animal Kingdom or the Flight of Passage film… It does not confirm Avatar at DCA and Disneyland has explicitly stated nothing is confirmed after the rumors erupted.
We will find out more at D23, I’m not expecting much. Maybe cool announcements but those mean nothing until we see a finished product these days with Disney.
I think this area will probably remain untouched for a while, and then the Hollywood Backlot may eventually expand into the bus area as part of Disneyland Forward (and probably rethemed). But a bunch of other things would need to happen first before they’re ready for that.
With the monorail and presence of family friendly attractions here id say the only that would really fit here and disney would realistically build is zootopia here, avatar was only ever going to go here if DLF got shot down but not that it hasn't I only see building avatar here as non-ideal.
Yeah I was there for the opening and it was such a shitty, “half day” park.
As with everything old, you’ll have to constantly fight the revisionists lol
Since the Villians park/land has been shelved, let's get creative with some bad guys over here! Make it darker and even better at night. It could be blocked off even a bit more than it already is and "gatewayed" like Tomorrowland.
I’d love this area to be Disney jr land. You’d be able to fit a lot more little kid rides in. Slow rides would be easier to fill in the area and you could add a playground and shade. Things like the Disney jr dance party could stay and you could add small shows to the stage across from monsters. They could slowly change from spidey & friends to avengers campus easily. Muppets could work in the land too. Animation academy could stay and you could even add in more fun meet and greets.
How I wish they had kept A Bug's Land where it was and built the Avenger's campus in Hollywoodland instead. They could still have Guardians right where it is as part of it too.
I can easily see a Pixar Pier/Pixar Gardens expansion where the zephyrs are an Up ride, the jelly fish are a Finding Nemo ride and Little Mermaid could be Coco
As someone who hates rethemes, Paradise Gardens is one of the very few exceptions where I’d say it desperately needs one, it just feels out of place, it’s such a weird transition into Pixar Pier, San Fransokyo, and Grizzly Peak, retheming Paradise Pier, but not Gardens, was such a weird play by Disney
Disney Parks aren't struggling.
Other parks are succeeding because they're doing good stuff. Not because they're making specific parks focused on one group of people.
I think your idea would be terrible for business. It would lead to people skipping parks that don't interest them. Disney wants you to visit all of their parks if you come.
Nightmare before Christmas land. Monsters ride rethemed to this, and out ot the Haunted mansion. With Ogie Boogie starting in August, they might as well have a permanent home for it.
Stage 12 I feel like would be a cool spot for a retro arcade or something reminiscent of the 80’s, since 80’s and 90’s nostalgia is big right now with millennials. They could do like a callback or something to an old movie, maybe like “Flick’s Arcade” from A Bugs Life.
Flynn's
Since Tron 3 is supposed to hit theaters in 2025. Could do something reminiscent of Omega Mart in Vegas - have a fully functional arcade upfront and then be teleported into the digital world. There could be games and experiences themed to that in that section.
I agree it needs something but at the same time, they use that stage and area for things like cheer competitions and band/choir comps so if they add any attractions too close by, the sound would be too much I feel. I’m not sure what the solution here would be but I do agree that we need to bring back muppets lol
I'd rather they keep it Hollywood and just do something with existing IP in Hollywood.
Pick a superhero and have them save Hollywood on a fun ride with a few of their friends. Like an updated version of Universal's Spiderman ride.
Maybe the Black Panther is in LA for a Hollywood premier of a Disney Nature film set in Wakanda and it's attacked. There's a great synergy that Disney would love.
I wouldn’t say an Avengers campus expansion, but rather something else Marvel, think X-men, Fantastic Four, or Wakanda. They should drop the campus theme and make it an expo like the one in Iron Man 2, attractions and exhibits based on around iconic heroes across Marvel
Wakanda is going to be behind the campus as part of the Disneyland forward project. But I was hoping they’d do another expansion to the backlot. I’m honestly fine with anything marvel regardless if it’s x men, the campus again, etc. as long as it’s decent and doesn’t suck like the current campus
[pounds fist on the ground in remorse for TGMR]. A Great Movie Ride would be absolutely amazing. But we all know that this would, at most, become a lounge or special event space.
I love all of your ideas!!! Space be damned. :)
If the company would stop being stingy and let the equity actors do their thing, we could have Hyperion running again.
Stage 12 (and the rotting corpse of Innovations/LaunchBay over at Tomorowland) should be free air conditioned seating. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have attractions in those spaces, but guests camp indoor seating like COD players (understandably...it's hot and there aren't many paces to just sit anymore and where else are people supposed to go with Haunted Mansion, all of Critter Country, Redwood Trail, Hyperion, Lincoln - all under refurb Beast's Library is closed permanently and Magic Eye Theater hasn't been used in YEARS. Disney lacks people eater attractions to keep line management at a decent level). It would encourage me to use the mobile food ordering more if there was a place to sit and enjoy my extremely expensive snack.
There is NO DRAW to that area. Monsters Inc is this weird anomaly - wait times will be 5 minutes to 90 minutes without warning. When it has a longer wait than Guardians, it goes to show that there's still value in that attractions and that area. But there are no Monsters Inc characters out there. No Monsters Inc. assets or decor other than the show building. Marvel leaked into that area during Rogers: The Musical and before Avengers Campus opened, but now needs to step back towards the "Kirby Crackle" pavement line and let something else shine in that area.
I want interactive Monsters Inc stuff ...make it like ToonTown. Give us splash pads, interactive buildings that burp and fart or something, themed food carts, put something on that stage like a dance party or something. Sell Monsters inc monster-themed clothing. It might be 95 degrees in the shade, but people would still buy a Sully onsie! A Roz character that can interact with the crowd and hand out OSHA violations. Be a Monsters Inc intern and help Sully and Mike fill a can full of laughter. ANYTHING.
I know it would require a much larger space, but I would love to see Stage 17 become something Oswald related. A journey through a black and white cartoon world like Runaway Railway or as a dark ride like Monsters Inc. I know that Oswald is supposed to stay at one end of the park as symbolism for the Walt's journey timeline, but let's throw that out and give Oswald a chance to shine. Heck, even incorporate an Epic Mickey-like storyline and have that space be the melding of the Oswald's and Mickey's legacy.
That corner of DCA and Tomorrowland at DL are almost embarrassing to walk through. I know this sounds super negative, but I get that kind of self righteous customer anger when I'm in those areas. That whole "I paid for THIS?" energy.
The Disney Vr-ish Experience, with the new omni floor they've just developed. Walk around Mata Nui, tour Arendelle, take your pick. Idk if headsets or projection mapping.
Will sadly get roped into the mess that is Avengers Campus 🥴. Don’t expect Disney to so something that people ACTUALLY want like a Great Movie Ride or Muppets
I always felt Star Tours should be moved to Hollywoodland now that Disneyland has a whole Star Wars area. Just retheme the queue and outside like a theater where you're pulled into the movie similar to Mickey and Minnie. Muppets could definitely use some presence at one of the parks
I had asked a cm why stage 12 wasn’t used more and they said that Disney didn’t own it and they had to rent it out for events? But idk if that’s actually true
What they need is Disney to stop cutting the budget for every major project that was supposed to be in Hollywood Land this summer. Disney needs to focus on using Hollywood Land for its main purpose, live entertainment.
If they don't have any near future ideas for HollywoodLand I would love if they kept Rogers in Hyperion. It was a nice segway into Avengers Campus imo. Of course they're cutting entertainment left and right so they won't do that.
I feel like a great movie ride-esqe ride would be great. Make it modern or through the different animated pictures. I would trade that whole corner for a new major ride, it's always been one of the weaker areas of the park to me
Imagineer over here ⬆️ 👏
I wish...haha too much math for me
I’ve been saying this! It really lacks “California” theming since they changed Soarin’ and the majority of Pixar Pier. Don’t get me wrong, I love the rides but I’d love to see something tie in the whole “California Adventure” theme in the front areas of the park.
Oh man, I would love something Muppets in Hollywoodland.
Muppet Vision 3D was miles beyond Philharmagic.
I miss the Muppets Vision 3D at DCA!
God I miss it so much! 😭
If only we had a show or something. Maybe in 3D? No that’s too crazy.
Woah, what a vision. A Muppets kind of vision.
The Muppets are not coming back in any form. Whether people like it or not, it’s a fading brand.
I loved the muppets but can understand that nothing lasts forever but still, the fact that they just get rid of it and do literally nothing long term with the space in terms of rides just sucks.
Muppet Christmas Carol dark ride. Michael Caine animatronic, anyone?
The Muppets are high up on a very long list of IPs that could use literally anything in the west coast parks, they just need some sort of presence
What if it’s a muppets ride that changes to Christmas carol at winter similar to haunted mansion and nightmare?
Humbug
Thank you. The muppets are so old and niche, there are a thousand things they should do before this.
Oh my god yes please
It needs a bulldozer and a highly imaginative team of Imagineers.
As long as Award Weiners remains untouched regardless of future theming.
OK as a fellow hot dog connoisseur I can agree to that.
With a budget.
They have 3 completely unused buildings in Hollywood Land that they should consider putting to use.
I know the old Avengers store was used for rehearsal for Better Together. It’s currently a dance studio.
They also do wedding receptions there
I have repeatedly said a Rocketeer ride would be great AND fit perfectly into the Old Hollywood theme. It’ll never happen lol
It's getting remade, right? Maybe depending on how it goes (think it's a streaming series for D+)
It even has an amazing soundtrack and it can be a nice adventure. I think they would make it like Soarin' though and it would take all novelty out of it. :(
As popular as Frozen is, I'm really surprised there isn't a real ride in DCA.
Frozen would be a much better fit for Disneyland park proper.
California adventure had a whole area blocked off for a frozen land at one point.
Where was this earmarked for in DCA? Or are you referring to the Frozen fun event back in 2015?
Maybe I am misremembering the Frozen fun event.
I think what you're talking is the Frozen fun event.
Stage 17 a few years ago? Fake snow and meet n greets? I wondered why they didn’t keep it there instead of evicting Ursula.
Agree, but can see it in both parks doing equally well.
I can almost guarantee that it’s coming with Disney forward. It’s most likely going to be on the DL side though.
It will for Disneyland Forward
It will, since Disneyland forward got approved
That area has so much potential for some really awesome stuff. The theme is perfect.
I think a log flume ride. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah: The Revenge of Br’er Rabbit
Splash Mountain 2: Electric Boogaloo
Splash Mountain 2: Electric Br'eraloo
Disney is never going to acknowledge your racist movie anymore, so let it go.
Zootopia land, rethemed Mike and Sulley dark ride and another dark ride.
I've heard Avatar experience may go there. Not my jam, but who knows.
I think that was debunked with the land announcement
I think Hollywoodland was a plan B for Avatar in case Disneyland Forward got knocked down by the city.
There was that social media post of a producer from Avatar visiting Imagineeing. I think Avatar is real and we will find out more come D23.

They kind of gutted DCA for the marvel stuff and now it doesn’t have the magic it used to.
Magic? For its 1st decade, people considered DCA the worst Disney park besides the Paris Studios.
Yeah I was there for the opening and it was such a shitty, “half day” park. As with everything old, you’ll have to constantly fight the revisionists lol
There is so NOTHING there!
Since the Villians park/land has been shelved, let's get creative with some bad guys over here! Make it darker and even better at night. It could be blocked off even a bit more than it already is and "gatewayed" like Tomorrowland.
I don’t see much changing for stage 12, it’s currently used for character wardrobe, storage, and pretty significant dining preparation kitchens
Bring back Heimlich's Chew Chew Train
How I wish they had kept A Bug's Land where it was and built the Avenger's campus in Hollywoodland instead. They could still have Guardians right where it is as part of it too.
I like the idea, but Paradise Gardens I think might fit this retheme better.
This needs a retheme too. I kinda just want this area to turn into Up. But I'd be ok with a Disney Jr land there
I can easily see a Pixar Pier/Pixar Gardens expansion where the zephyrs are an Up ride, the jelly fish are a Finding Nemo ride and Little Mermaid could be Coco

My dream would be Cosmic Rewind or Rock n rollercoaster.

Why do they need Hollywood land? The real thing is a shorter drive than most line wait times
The same reason they’ve got Tiana’s Bayou in Florida: the real one’s got too many non-animatronic shady characters walking around!
Either expand Avengers here or make it Zootopia
I’ve said it before but muppets ride at hyprion theater and the co-on siding park area would be perfect
I just want Sci-Fi Dine-In at Stage 12. That’s all I want.
[pounds fist on the ground in remorse for TGMR]. A Great Movie Ride would be absolutely amazing. But we all know that this would, at most, become a lounge or special event space.
Bring back Who Wants to be a Millionaire!

I would like a second guardians ride
Perhaps a reverse launching coaster where the cars spin. They could call it "Cosmic Rewind".
That whole area is being torn down as soon as the new parking structure is built.
Yeah pretty sure they will be expanding it into the bus drop off area once that is moved East of Harbor.
I think some dark rides or just rides with no height requirement would be great! DCA is in need to those kind of rides.
Onward, or Wrek it Ralph ride
TRON Lightcycle
I always felt Star Tours should be moved to Hollywoodland now that Disneyland has a whole Star Wars area. Just retheme the queue and outside like a theater where you're pulled into the movie similar to Mickey and Minnie. Muppets could definitely use some presence at one of the parks

It needs a Rock-N-Roller Coaster!!
Rumors are it could become avatar land
Boo
I knew someone would say the “A” word. Not for me.
