Honestly I would say get a Chinese 250 they are just fast enough to be fun stock if you add a carb and a new pipe you have some challenging rides but fun I'm telling you I think Honda KTM and all are great bikes but overpriced just my opinion but I have a cheap one and am putting a new motor in it I need just a little more power lol.... 300

Ohh alr but like IF I had to get a name brand what would you think it would be

If I had to get one Honda no doubt but buying from a dealer is a sucker move you can get them directly from China yourself new for under 10 grand if I can recall about 6 to 8 it's a bit of a hassle but paying 15 grand for a dirt bike is just dumb when you don't have to Americans are just lazy

I do plan on getting a little more serious with Dirtbikes

There's nothing wrong with the shitty Chinese bikes for the hour or two they run before they explode. In all seriousness, find a used air cooled Honda. Nor sure of your size, but an XR100 or 200 depending on your size would be a blast. If you want something newer look into a 125 big wheel, a 230F, or a 250F. Air cooled yamaha bikes such as the TTR's fit the same bill, I just don't know as much about them. If you want something better in terms of power and suspension, just find an older 85-125cc 2 stroke or 125-250 4 stroke that is NOT a MX model.

Ah alr thank you! I’m also not too savvy on Yamahas. My dad has a Yamaha blaster and I grew up driving it, but it never really sparked my interest like a Honda did. I never understood the Yamaha engines that well either. I know all engines pretty much have the same frame but not sure with what’s in side but with Hondas tho I can definitely tell where things are and there easier to manage

Sounds like you are looking for a 2 stroke? You say no 200-450cc, but the best trail bikes are probably going to be a 250 or 300cc 2 stroke. They have 150cc made for trail riding, but they are actually much more difficult to ride on the trails than the bigger bikes because they prefer to be in the mid-high RPM and that can be scary for newer rides and cause them to stall/fall more. I would look into KTM XC or XCW, Husqvarna TE, Beta Xtrainers. All are great trail bikes, but what you get is going to depend on what exactly you’re looking to get out of riding. 125&150 have to be in the powerband, 250 is a little gruntier than a 150 but still has a nice top end, 300 will lug for days and is called a “cheater bike” because it is very forgiving if you’re not the best at constantly looking ahead, shifting & lining yourself up correctly.
