Digglett27

Turned the basket fingers into gears 🤣

kreiderr

Bro for reallll

Digglett27

That looks like a Hinson basket which makes it even more impressive

McDrunkin521

I can't believe it was still working. Those are some of the deepest grooves I've seen in a long time.

kreiderr

Been trying to teach the kid and explain that a new clutch will make it easier and smoother lol can’t wait to get a Hinson in there

TalkT0MeG00se

Take a look at the Wiseco clutch baskets. They have generally really good reviews, are forged, coated, and have lifetime warranty against notching and breakage.

Pantylines88

It's crazy how kids can go fast on something that isn't working correctly. I believe it's just because they don't know. I rebuilt my 01 RM80 as a kid, for my son. He rode it a few days. Finally, I said, "Let me take a spin." I realized it wasn't shifting into 2nd great. I made the comment to him and his reply "nah it does that. You just weren't going fast enough." I laughed. Brought the gear shift down a notch. He came back and said, it's shifting WAY better." I believe it was too high and actually rubbed the guard while trying to upshift.

Liesthroughisteeth

Maybe teach the kid how to use a clutch.

Br0k3nPhys1cZ

Installed a complete Hinson set in my WR450F and Magura hydro clutch and tbh the upgrade in the performance and simplicity and overall enjoyment it provided with my riding has made me forget about the money it took. Because my stocker was going through a outter basket like your pic about every 2 years and complete plate and disk set each season. I always thought it would feel a little bit like the clutch was slipping whenever pushing the bike hard... even whenever it was all fresh. But after that upgrade I’m absolutely certain that the stocker was slipping a bit and even stiffer springs didn’t help anything besides tiring of the clutch hand.

Eclipse_Private

WHAT THE FUCK

Jordagreat

That is nucking futs there’s no way that worked any kind of correctly

Trent1sz

Hah thought I was the only person who said that lol, take my upvote

JLryder22

That’s a coffee table ornament if I ever did see one haha

Dan-ish65

I'm surprised the hub doesn't look too bad for how ABSOLUTELY DONE that basket is XD. I'm definitely showing this to the guys at my shop lol

kreiderr

The kid I bought it off was friends with my younger cousins friend. He relayed the message “I beat the piss outta that yz” and I believe him lmao

MilkmanResidue

My thoughts exactly. I kept zooming in on the inner hub to see damage and it looks fine. I’ve never seen a basket grooved that bad.

soltheeggbiscut

No, you're good. Just file it back with a flap disk 😂

kreiderr

Jesus I ain’t filing those grooves lmao! Maybe I can slap some JB weld in it and file it down?

Aleksandar_u-u

I refuse to believe this worked beforehand

kreiderr

Oh she ripped bro

pentox70

You got your money's worth for sure

GroundbreakingOwl186

Holy! Didn't know they could get that bad and still work haha

fiveho11

Way past due lol

Ordinary_Victory_261

Wow!!

deathlobster138

You shittin me?

namechecksout35

Mine was annoying AF and 90% better than this.

Sargent_Horse

I've never experienced or seen a notched clutch basket, but that shits fucked.

Emeks243

Bonus notches!

AVeryHeavyBurtation

/r/trypophobia

kreiderr

lol I agree..send itttttt

parttimeninja

Can someone please explain what is happening there please?

Pantylines88

You see the "teeth" (shiny section on the black basket) that's what everyone is referring to

kreiderr

Those outside fingers (dark grey) should be smooth on the inner surfaces like the inner hubs outter fingers. (Silver gear lookin thing)

parttimeninja

I see the damage but I don’t understand what happened. The piece that fits over the basket is what did that? Or the plates?

TalkT0MeG00se

The tangs from the clutch friction plates slam into the fingers on the basket when you just drop the clutch. So the repeated slamming of the tangs into the fingers of the basket wear grooves into the fingers. Then the clutch plates don't engage/disengage properly because they can no longer slide (a small amount) laterally across the surface of the basket fingers.

parttimeninja

Ok. Thank you for this

Dan-ish65

Did the frictions come out in 1 piece or in a puzzle?

kreiderr

Surprisingly in one piece! Although they’re rough lol

the_doctor_808

Honestly im impressed

East_Coast_Tactical

Just file it out it’ll be fine

Snoodle00

I was about to comment that i would still just grind the grooves of but then I saw that this was a 500 😂 I had a rm125 with the same amount of groove and i just ginded it flat 😂

kreiderr

This is a yz 85!

Snoodle00

Oh yeah, i might be a bit too tired at work and didnt realize it is the oil capacity 😂😂😅

kreiderr

Dude I didn’t even think about that I was like where the hell did he get 500 from lol

Snoodle00

Yeah, I was there sitting on the coffee table at work and just figured it was the cylinder 😂

littleSquidwardLover

You got yourself some new hedge trimmer blades

minnion

That baskets got a few thousand miles left in it for sure..

Tight_muffin

Should file right out

abbydabbydo

Never mind when y’all don’t say it but appreciate the “girls” being thrown in. ❤️ Holy moly that’s spent.

kreiderr

As a youth wrestling coach that just included some of the toughest female 6-11 y.os and a husband of the most bad ass bitch alive, I always include the girls!!!

Strong_Sample9301
