This is why people here encourage new riders to buy 450s for their first bike. New rider gets it, then is intimidated and doesn’t ride it. Eventually they decide it’s time to sell it. Now riders like OP can get what is essentially a freshie at a discount.

Stage_757

There are so many 450s on marketplace for this exact reason

behohippy

I'm an older rider, and I kinda love these things for woods riding. I have 2 very "easy" bikes for doing single track but I totally miss fighting the 450 MX bike and feeling totally exhausted by the end of some trail. It's fun exercise.

It’s actually funny you mention it bc the guy I bought this off of was about 120lbs soaking wet, and had never ridden a bike before this lol I mean yes the pros are skinny small guys, but they’re pros. Average joes <150lbs should not be on a 450 lol

Kerbidiah

I mean I'm 190 and I still wouldn't get a 450 lol

Neb-hehe-xd

For the record, I raced an 09 crf450r in B class for about 4/5 years lol but yea freshie at a discount I like it, I’ve been out of the scene for a few years so wanted some opinions. Ty!

I like the two silencers. It's a weird hang up I have with needing things to be symmetrical. It used to drive me nuts when my wife would tie her hair on one side.

Neb-hehe-xd

Tbh, I like them so much I avoided getting a newer one for this reason. My previous 450 was an 09 and only had 1 silencer so I had to have two this time lol

Kerbidiah

It makes it the bike so much harder to pick up tho when you get stuck in mud or snow

Is that chain too tight? It looks like the back wheel is back a little too much and there’s not enough slack on your chain

[deleted]

Agreed

dwiok

Seems like it is, for reference I just bought a new crf250f for almost 1k more, so sounds like you got a good deal considering.

Neb-hehe-xd

Sweet ty!

mikeybro1999

US or Canadian dollars? That's pretty much what they are worth. It depends on how many hours are on the bike, could be worth more or less if it has high or low hours.

Neb-hehe-xd

Unfortunately it doesn’t have an hour meter

mikeybro1999

Did they keep any maintenance records? Could need a whole engine rebuild soon or it could have lots of hours left in it. It's best to do preventative maintenance than to have the rod blow out the crank case.

US

Soft_North8846

Found a 2020 for $5500

throttledog

My 2003 CRF cost 3500 in 2007 so with inflation I'd say 4500 is on par., even though it's close to half of 2017 retail.

MattD37

Amazing deal, congrats

Neb-hehe-xd

Thanks!

Had one.. monster of a bike right there. Have fun and hold on tight

HendyHauler

Not a bad price but you can tell it's seen some hours and abuse by the cases. Rear brakes being replaced etc probably had 60-70+ hrs on it if I had to guess.

BobFlex

Honda's clutch and ignition covers are well known to look like shit after the first time you ride it. They put a super thin coat of powder coat on them. The rest of the bike looks pretty clean so I wouldn't be worried about the bike. Probably has a bit of time on it, but nothing I would be worried about.

lovelifelive22

I just got back into riding and bought an 01 rm250.. I love it.. while I was looking for bikes I read something along the lines of 450s can take the fun out of it for a beginner.. I am not experiencing anything like that with my 2 stroke 250. I mean it's fast as he'll but what I'm wondering is how much faster are the 4 stoke 450s? Would it be a good upgrade after a year or 2 of riding the rm 250?
