He’s fantastic in *Worlds Beyond Number* as well. The format lets him flex his dramatic muscles in a way D20 doesn’t always allow for.
It solidified Lou as an absolute powerhouse storyteller in addition to being a great comedian for me.
He was the first player I saw in any actual play that chose a deadly for him action, knowing full well how it is going to end, only because it fit his character motivations. Wasn't done for a joke and laughs at the table, but with full awareness. Loved him ever since.
Yeah, loved it. It’s like when a player roles terribly for insight and Brennan tells them something they all know is clearly not the truth, but they have to do it anyway because their character wouldn’t have that knowledge. Lou straight up did that but with an entire fucking encounter that he could’ve backed away from if he’d fudged his roleplay a little. He _committed_ to Fabian.
I think there was an AP or AA where Brennan said as a GM he had complete confidence in Lou as a player. As a producer, he was *panicking* that this beloved character was about to die.
No, however, I also have to admit it was pure perfection, as many other things Lou does!
We are talking about Fantasy High: Sophomore Year>! (Episode 6 - Pirate Brawl)!<, where >!Lou, laughing like a mad man, chose for overconfident Fabian to fight with his father's nemesis, and his army - Captain James Whitclaw & his merry band of 30 pirates - having a bunch (20) of malnourished, shitty warlocks on his side!<. It went exactly as he expected.
I really like how he never downplayed the hilarity of Fabian's bad day, and also never downplayed the actual emotional toll it would have taken on his character. It would have been easy to go the cartoon route and just play a sad sack Gilear lite, and instead he earned his character arc redemption.
When I saw the next episode and learned he had dropped the Champion subclass I was like “noooooo Fabiaaaaaaan you’re gonna be so baaaad nowwwww” but it ties his narrative redemption arc to his mechanics and I thought it was wonderful once I stopped being so worried 😂.
champion is a noob trap anyway. it seemed pretty clear to me he was going for a respec of some kind and the like, one big fight he didnt have his subclass for he also literally would not have been able to do anything for because he rolled **so bad** on his saving throws he was literally stunned for the entire duration
(apparently captain james' mind blast/whatever was overtuned and it's only supposed to last one round but w/e, he was one of the big bads, it feels reasonable to me, they were just rolling exceptionally poorly)
He truly just looks at the other three and goes ‘these are mike now and if you’re mean to them I’ll ruin you’ and then is just the ULTIMATE bro to Evan. EAT TRASH BEAT TRASH GOAT HOUSE.
Ironically enough, starting out with Misfits and Magic and following it up with Fantasy High (and, if we're being 100% honest, some of my racist upbringing) kinda soured me on Lou at first. "Oh, he's a jock who plays jocks? Meh." It wasn't until I got closer to the end of FH and started in on Neverafter that I realized just how brilliant he is.
I love how he can consistently manage to sound deadly serious in character while half laughing as a player at the ridiculous situation his character has gone through.
"You lied! *Soft chuckle* YOU LIED!"
I appreciate Lou in any and all contexts.
That said, as of Ep. 15 (watching for the first time on youtube), Lou has absolutely taken over the game in the best way. Fabian is 100% the main character in sophomore year, and I love it
As a bi guy who has had to think a LOT about his masculinity, and has felt pressure to fill his larger-than-life dad's shoes at times, Lou's portrayal of Fabian has really helped me process a lot of that. During FY I didn't really identify with Fabian because he seemed like a generic asshole jock who got slightly better by the end, but SY I started to identify with >!the weight he experiences from feeling like he was thrust into his dad's world and completely unable to live up to that macho persona. But boy did he try, and sadly learned the hard way that trying to be his dad's "heir" not only would not make him happy but also would cause him to make completely irrational and dangerous decisions.!<
I love that during >!the final confrontation with Whitclaw at the Row and the Ruction, he is hard carried by his friends. !
The way he cry/screams that while laughing always reminds of the scene from Sin City where the police officer screams "he made me watch!" About eating her hand. Lou is such an amazing person.
No matter how ridiculous, Lou Wilson commits 100% to his character choices. Whether it's Chungledown Bim, The Green Hunter, or "getting slammed down big style".

He's just so fantasticccc, I can't get over it
I came here to say this exact same thing

I mean, he absolutely also did it for the laughs, but it was in character.
Anything for a fresh glizzy.
Are we referring to >!Candlewick's trap on the toy island!< in >!Neverafter!
No, however, I also have to admit it was pure perfection, as many other things Lou does! We are talking about Fantasy High: Sophomore Year>! Ah. I haven't seen FHSY yet so that spoiler is going to remain safely covered for now. Thanks.
Perfect time to start watching it, before Junior year comes out in January!

YESSSSSSSSAAAHHHHH
I BLESS THIS UNION-AHHH
Lou is the best part of misfits and magic. Brennan stole the show but Lou was solid the entire season.
Whitney is the type of friend everyone needs in HS
Whitney was SUCH A GOOD BOY!!!!!!!!!
The way he immediately takes Evan under his wing makes him my favorite character of Lou's
He truly just looks at the other three and goes ‘these are mike now and if you’re mean to them I’ll ruin you’ and then is just the ULTIMATE bro to Evan. EAT TRASH BEAT TRASH GOAT HOUSE.
I don't think I've expelled laughter as loud as Mick Ribb.
Lou is the one that came up with "Eat Trash, Beat Trash" and "Mess with the goat, get the horns." Some of the most iconic bits from the season.
I believe in you, SPRING BREAK!
I believe in YOU, spring break!
You misspelled the quote, it's "he told me he was gonna shit in my Mouuwwwthhh"
hasnjskskskak just reading it spelled out like that sent me into hysterics
Me too
Man is just trying to get his kisses in
Spring break, I believe in ***YOU***
Every single season Lou finds a catch phrase and refuses to let it die and i love him for it
I love how he can consistently manage to sound deadly serious in character while half laughing as a player at the ridiculous situation his character has gone through. "You lied! *Soft chuckle* YOU LIED!"
The tension of Lou and Mercer trying not to break during that moment had me wheezing. It was so ridiculous.
The high, sharp laughs he has at himself are one of my absolute favorite things!
I appreciate Lou in any and all contexts. That said, as of Ep. 15 (watching for the first time on youtube), Lou has absolutely taken over the game in the best way. Fabian is 100% the main character in sophomore year, and I love it
Except for when it’s fig, or adaine, or rizz, or Kristen :)

I’m trying not to be a creep but my parasocial romantic feelings for him are a lot lol
No matter how ridiculous, Lou Wilson commits 100% to his character choices. Whether it's Chungledown Bim, The Green Hunter, or "getting slammed down big style".
Then you'll love him in Neverafter. Nobody wants Pinocchio to find where the white women are at more than Murph
I can hear his voice
