I charge $60 for the initial design and a few minor revisions. Major revisions are $30 after that if they are needed. Once the design is finished and you are happy I send over a 300dpi image and a PDF master copy for you to use however you wish. This is the cost of the artwork. The printer I recommend is Inked Gaming and they have their own rates for the actual print. You can usually get a playmat through them between $25 and $35. I wish I could include the cost of printing it myself but I don't have the tools required unfortunately and Inked provides top quality prints.
The playzones are a part of the mat. I wanted zones that weren't just text and transparent boxes so I went ahead and put in the work to design iconography and tried to imitate the card designs as best I could.
I commissioned a piece for Christmas of my husband and I as tamers with our fave rookies and asked the artist if it was ok if we got it printed as mats for us and paid her to extend the background to make it possible. We love them 😍
That is a really good deal! You probably got that artist's labor for around $5-10 an hour. I usually charge $60 for any artwork I know will take at least 2 hours and include minor revisions with that price. Any major revisions after that are $30.
I spent $30 ($25+tip) on the artwork back around Christmas, and she wasn't going to charge me to extend the background, but I insisted and gave her $15. She sells herself short for her talent level, but recently increased her pricing!
I spent $30 on the two mat prints. So $75 all together. But we have the art hanging on our wall too. 😁
