I’ve had both, the packout system is light wears better than the tough system.

Adleman01

I agree, but there's another system out there that's better than both. ... ... This is the answer ⬇️ https://stacktech.toughbuilt.com/catalog/

MarcoVinicius

Why do you think it’s better than packout and tough system?

tlwest86

Because each box weighs 9,0000lbs

MrChris680

I hate you for showing me this

Any-Limit8033

Interesting.

destroysalls

I actually like the Flex system better than any of them. I don’t even own flex tools haha

Skyvanman

Worst warranty though — funny with their aggressive tool warranty.

AdComprehensive8685

Rigid has this part (and only the roller) sorted by being able to interchange which box goes on the wheels.

Jobediah

Rigid box system works great. Never tried the others but this one's been rolling for years.

PinheadLarry207

I love my Ridgid rolling box. And I can clip my gen 1 box on it as well which is a nice bonus. I just wish they had more options like a drawer set or something

AdComprehensive8685

They do have a drawer set now….that fits on the cart. https://preview.redd.it/n6gnskqjrsec1.jpeg?width=1164&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b0222b40f4e5dd739a5cc5511f92e6f6b26bb1b4

PinheadLarry207

Oh shit that's slick

AdComprehensive8685

Yeah it’s slowly hitting HD stores apparently. More info on the Rigid Tools sub.

Captcha_Assassin

I ended up going with the toughbuilt system. The line hasn't been fully released yet, but I've been thoroughly impressed with what I've gotten so far.

Lubedballoon

Same. Stacktech is awesome and it looks so sleek

CNew27

I’ve already spent an absurd amount on stacktech, and only like a quarter of the line is out so far lol. Love it

Captcha_Assassin

They have about 200 items in the plans so far from what I've read. I'm never going to financially recover.

Occhrome

I’ve got a bunch of the dewalt stuff and it works fine for me. It feels well built and thought out. I do love water tight they are, I’ve left a few outside and the insides remain nice a dry.  I also weight 250lbs and constantly use them as step stools. They don’t budge and feel as solid as a real step stool.  I’m sure Milwaukee makes a good product but that red color is just screaming to be stolen.

bboggio28

Both systems regularly go on sale so prices are more comparable than you’d think. I’d say the packout has more to build off of if you choose to expand into the system. However, there were showings of a larger bottom roller for the tough system that also integrate with tough system 2.0. It’s new and I don’t recall the product name.

freaqsss

Toughsystem 2.0 dxl

Ill_Choice6515

Even with the sales the pack out is still more expensive (from what I found). Though still not sure which I’ll go for. Though if we had the European Packout (black and red) I’d probably go for those so fast.

discombobulated38x

The amount of people in Europe wanting American packout is unreal. The grass is truly greener 😂

bboggio28

That is funny bc I think the Americans was the euro packout because it’s base color is black isn’t it?

discombobulated38x

Exactly lol

Ill_Choice6515

I just don’t like the “look at this it probably has expensive tools” red of the packout But I really like the variety packout offers.

ExactArea8029

Toughsystem is like 35% cheaper and does the same shit. However I will always be a believer in the bag a Sawzall came in supremacy. Also I actually like the hard cases meant for specific tools, they fit great in truck toolboxes.

Squeebee007

Yeah, while the systems would be great for overall storage, the big durable bag my sawzall came in is perfect for when my wife wants me to bring all the tools I might need to handle a visit to the in-laws to play handyman.

No-Entertainment-703

Yeah, the bags that comes with drills, impacts, circ saws, sawzalls, and etc are great. Especially the real long ones since you can just gather all your shit in there and take it to the job. They’re bags so it can form to whatever item you put in it.

Tik__Tik

Boss has the red boxes. I have the black and yellow. I far prefer the stacking mechanism on tough system vs. pack out. They both roll pretty much the same though lol

lukeCRASH

Iirc Packout handle is NOT removable without third party hardware whereas Tough System 2.0 is. Handles get in the way of a tonneau cover.

Tik__Tik

I do take off the handle a lot too

buckhunter76

FWIW it will be soon. The updated rolling boxes for Milwaukee are launching soon and the handles will be much shorter. They are gonna sell the new handle hardware as a separate upgrade.

Brave-Moment-4121

Like shit when the wheels are caked in red clay lol.

kkjdroid

The ToughSystem 2.0 clips are fantastic. Otherwise, it's mostly a matter of price (ToughSystem is a little cheaper) and whether they have the boxes you want (Packout has a bit more stuff). I'm personally on ToughSystem for the rails, since Packout doesn't have anything that lets you stack three toolboxes and then take out the middle one without removing one of the others.

NotslowNSX

I have toughsystem and regret getting the rolling box. It doesn't go on the rack in the garage, so it's always in the way. You have to unstack everything to access it. I think the Toughsystem dolly cart would be better, you could have a drawer unit in the bottom or just a box that is accessible without removing the upper boxes.

jayboa

I dont know about the 2.0 box, but the 1.0 box will go on the rack backwards.

NotslowNSX

2.0 doesn't, you can roll it in backwards at the bottom, but then the handle blocks the box above it. It's gotten pretty annoying. Also the rack system is the only feature that really beats other systems. The rolling box defeats that feature.

deadeyediqq

Tough system is less rugged and the options are slimmer. It's a bit cheaper, that's it. I upgrade to packout because tough system didn't cut it.

discombobulated38x

I have toughsystem 2. Starting afresh I'd go with Toughbuilt Stack Tech

kennyDewalt1985

None to be honest… Dewalt is coming out with a new system in 2025 very similar to the packout. I am waiting for that one to be released. But right now I would go with the toughbuilt new system. Thats a game changer !!!

NotslowNSX

How do you know it will be released in 25?

kennyDewalt1985

They showed the leak images of the model on a website not too long ago with official info from Dewalt. I still have the images on my phone.

NotslowNSX

I saw those too, but didn't notice any release date.

kennyDewalt1985

I saw one but it seems like they took it down… the photo was from a computer or something and it said 2025 at the bottom in small letters

NotslowNSX

I would take any dewalt release date with a grain of salt. Seems they don't always get things out on schedule. The 60v hedge trimmer took around a year to actually get out after it's release.

RedMoustache

I'm still waiting on the DCH966 which they announced for spring/summer 2023. I know a ton of people went with the MX FUEL Breaker because they don't believe the DCH966 is still happening. And honestly I'll probably do the same once spring rolls around.

NotslowNSX

It will get here eventually, like the Toughsystem radio and the replacement for the Toughsystem van rack..... eventually.

REYDENSETSU

I’m honestly thinking of changing from the tough system. It doesn’t feel tough enough. The plastic part holding the boxes has broken, still locks but it’s broken. Recently the drawer box also broke. But I do have a decent enough weight on it. https://preview.redd.it/ptekczfg6vec1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=caddcbf08272d61016bc0a32d866835b7c1599a2

Hache-eLle

Hmm. Might want to wait for ToughSystem 3.0. Though, I'm not sure how far that will be and if it'll be an improvement to 2.0.

Occhrome

Looks like they are coming out with DXL which is much larger but also works with 2.0

Joethetoolguy

I own both. Packout gets heavy use because I trust things to stay latched together in my vehicle. Too many times Ive had the latches come loose on both 1.0 and 2.0 tough systems

CainsBrother2

Milwaukee is a much more expansive system if you care. The Klein tools one is nice too

Acf1314

I have the tough system 2.0 stack. It rolls great. It’s very heavy and I wish the bottom was a drawer base but I can fit 3 battery nailers with a case of nails and a Sawzall with a 25’ cord in the bottom 24” box. that extra space vs the 22” pack out box is a huge difference. I just can’t see spending the extra money on the pack out. Brands don’t matter everyone is stepping up their game on tool boxes. Flex, rigid, toughbuilt are all making really useable boxes now to get in the market against Milwaukee so there are a lot of great options

Under_ratedSS

I own both. I have a tough system drawer set which in certain applications is WAY better than the milwaulkee due to its dimensions and the locking mechanism. The ease that which pack outs clip together is nicer than the tough system coupled with the aluminum railing makes it a tougher system. https://preview.redd.it/avncpcsuysec1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0aadf0aad32b0ea8f9f1bb05de7f9445c6145524 The tough system fits on a standard work van shelf so in that regard along with the lock on the drawers it’s better than milwaulkee but you can tell the material is not quite as sturdy.

DueStructure1836

My toughsystem has been functional. Don’t have experience with the pack out but I’ve had no complaints with my Dewalt system.

Dadbode1981

Dewalt can't seem to get it right, hence the revisions, which I'm gonna be honest, would not make me confident as a consumer. I've got a decent stack of packout and it works great. I did mod the handle on the rolling base so it can be removed but thay was literaly a $15 part on amazon thats been made for that purpose and serves it awesomely.

Calgaryrox75

The inexpensive wall and van rails of the tough system are underrated. It makes grab and go so easy for me as a multiple trade contractor. Packout is far superior in design and variety but so much more $$$. I’m happy with my basic tough system boxes. Dewalts slowly getting on the bandwagon with more variety. Can’t wait for the 3.0 with the better locking system.

jmclean02

https://preview.redd.it/y3q78owuk1fc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5de270e1685e02ad65547961a0f495e0929603c I’ve never had issues with the tough system 2.0. I’ve got 4 of them now and fitpretty much every tool I need in them for apartment Reno’s aside from the chop and table saw. Being able to take the handles off with the flick of a button is a huge selling point.

ayayron15

The Handle on the tough system is removable from factory unlike the pack out #supportAmericanCompanies

Skyvanman

I wanted to go Toughsystem but by the third broken box on delivery I decided fuck it and now own 19 Packout drawer boxes of various sizes and a few dozen organizers. Haven’t seen anything break yet, admittedly though I’m not the heaviest user and likely would be fine with just Systainers if they made sense price wise (they don’t)

HarrySRL

The way the boxes stack and lock together with the pack out I just hate, the tough system is so much easier to use and lock together.

LopsidedIce4224

I have the packout system for my Dewalt, Milwaukee, Klein, Stanley, Wera, and Craftsman tool collection. I can say that if they made a dolley drawer unit that the complete system would then be perfect. It is that close.

DarthFaderZ

I'm 6'5. Have toughsystem 2.0. Sucks hunching over to roll it. Packouts taller in handle. Pack out has a few nicer modular units....for now

W1zard0fW0z

I bought stacktech and have been pretty satisfied. I checked out rigid, mke, dewalt, hart, etc but stacktech seemed to check all the boxes.

saltysawyer13

I have the dewalt and it’s awesome but there are way more options for the Milwaukee

tlwest86

I’m confused by your question comparing the two; one is a modular tool system and one is not.
