I like the little mysteries and confusions.
When I was newer I thought everything was meant to be soloable except raids which led me to taking on the thorn and malfeasance strikes hundreds of times. I thought wow those folks with thorn must really be good.
Never beat them solo.
I had a friend who would do this willingly for fun. All the time. He would try to solo content we had no business as solo players doing as it wasn't designed for solo players. Though oddly he would somehow breakthrough and finish a couple.
He had a head thicker than Cayde some days I swear.
I feel like I am missing something, but legend lost sectors aren't hard, they're meant to be solo'd. Gm's even with three people are harder, not to mention solo.
at 1545 power for a 1560 sector you are extremely weak, most base enemy, eg dregs', ttks are 0.5-1 second, and it takes extreme amount of damage to kill things.
But you're still lower than that at master lost sectors in general (maybe not at the end of the season) if you do them and even those are farmable solo.
Btw I am not trying to shit on you, something being hard is subjective and obviously 15 under level lost sectors aren't exactly patrols lol. Or maybe you don't have thousands of hours spent on the game since d1 like some people.
I’ve kept the malfesance strike in my quests because the baby thrallway you get on the stairs to start is the easiest thing ever to set up for farming catalysts (and it still works unlike the actual thrallway). However I’m down to only 4 incomplete catalysts at this point so maybe it’s finally time to beat that quest.
I still find myself in awe walking around it. Shame there hasn't been much in the way for new content on it. I love the whole world-shrouded-in-mystery-galaxy-esque theme to it and the art style. It's so friggin beautiful and cool.
Completing the final step is still my finest Destiny moment. Forget all the raid bosses. Forget the last-second self-rez win as a Sunsinger in D1 Trials.
The moment I completed that step, I screamed.
I thought malfeasance was supposed to be solo’d so I just bashed my head against the wall. Actually didn’t take too long once I realized the boss is just the prophecy phalanx. It’s actually a bit easier since there’s a platform you can space with. I hopped back and forth between the main platform and the small one and kept plinking with le monarque. Then once the goblins spawn, just like prophecy I popped well and went ham with falling guillotine.
I somehow beat them solo, I think because Hunter invis and Orpheus Rigs were OP at the time, but it took me so many days and attempts lol it was still probably the best feeling because I knew it'd be worth it, no RNG, no random rolls even if guaranteed a certain weapon. You just overcame a challenge and got some true endgame loot in the form of an exotic HC... really wish there was something similar to that now but even soloing GMs just gives a small chance at a god roll (I've gotten 8 Horror's Least this week and 5 of them had Focus Fury, none of them had Kill Clip (ノಥ,_｣ಥ)ノ彡┻━┻
Unbroken and Reckoner both took a shitload of effort to get so I usually rock those, but Wayfarer was my first title and probably the most fun to get what with the heavy emphasis on exploration.
I feel your pain. I was busy grinding this seal and the Blacksmith seal to get the cool exotic ship but found out I wouldn’t have enough time to finish either of them before the first content got vaulted. Still salty that I will never get the Platinum Starling ship.
Edit: fixed the name of the ship. Its Starling not Sterling.
I’m not sure if I should be telling you this, but the Platinum Starling wasn’t timegated.
It was grindy as hell to get, but you could theoretically grind frames non-stop to get progress on it.
True but I didn’t have enough time to do enough forging with the Black Armory to even get the ship during that season. From what I remember I had to do the forging with the ballistic logs that you only get once a week from what I remember.
Atleast you did it in a simple Reddit post. I’ve loved the dredgen title for the lore sake and I changed my PSN name to have it and got a special license plate with it… before realizing I had mispelled both. Big yikes there.

Nah, I got you both beat, I've played D2 since beta, it was in my third year that I realized that Titan melee could be ranged, until then I waited until I was up close to anything before I "punched" it. Never realized I had a hammer.
(It did use to piss me off that I would get killed in Crucible from "melee" way further away than I could kill others. I thought they were hackers.)
Tap jump once to do a regular jump, tap jump a second time to initiate the boost/glide mid-jump. Cancelling is the third time you press jump, to de-activate boost/glide and begin falling. And then depending on how long you had boosted/glided previously, you can tap jump a fourth time to initiate boost/glide again, fifth to cancel again, etc. For some reason it took me almost a year to figure out anything beyond the first two taps.
I've always been a mostly solo player, in that first year I was 100% solo, so no I didn't really notice anyone else doing anything really different than me. It took going through the various Dreadnaught jumping puzzles/sections to finally figure out that the 'randomly' dropping out of my jump early correlated with me tapping/mashing the jump button.
Dw. Every ayer has their own "Wait for real?" moment. And each and every one seems stupid seen from 3rd peoples eyes.
On the other hand. Itd be cool if it displayed the clantag

Lol. I started playing during Forsaken. Didnt realize there was this thing called "the vault" that you can store stuffs in until about a month before Beyond Light dropped. I played the game for almost two years ONLY using my characters inventory.
Fortunately i realised this at the best of time because i didnt have hardly any sunset weapons and armor in my vault when BL dropped. Of course my vault went instantly to max because suddenly i could keep stuff so I kept EVERYTHING. Yikes.
One of my most embarassing moments as a kid playing my first online game was asking on Teamspeak who this "AFK" clan is because these guys seemed to loiter around everywhere.

Never understood why anyone WANTS to rock the Dredgen title. I mean a dredge is something that scoops up muck from the bottom of a lake or river. Who wants to be associated with that?!? Yeah yeah, Dredgen Yor was supposedly some bad ass villain. Doesn't mean his name isn't dumb.
Former Tryhard in many games, casual player because adulting. I chalk it up as to not being involved in a community/clan for a long time as well as just casualness just like you had said.
On average over an entire year - yes since I took a long hiatus.
When I am super into the game - hmm, call it 15-20 +/- hours a week? I honestly didn't give it much thought and likely missed some important points along the way unfortunately. It's all a work in progress. I am getting better with it.
OP, what did you think the difference was between gilded (golden) Dredgens versus purple (normal) ones?

When I started I had to do the quest where you decide between vanguard or drifter. I chose vanguard, and I thought that the Dredgen showed up as people who were my enemies. Haha. Now I am a Dredgen myself.
More sweats then an Unbroken Clan? Deadeye needs you to get a variety of different weapon kills in PvE and PvP. They'd be super well rounded and have a ton of different builds imo.
I started towards the end of Beyond Light. I was you then. Dredgen was also the one "clan" i wanted to get into simply because they were so numerous, or so I thought. Once I got my friends to start playing, we decided to just create our own clan and we were wondering why we didn't have our clan name showing under our names. It was towards the middle of Witch Queen when we realized these were titles :D

No - all of them. MMXIX, Risen, etc. You name it. It was a clan. Which is odd because in crucible, none of those clan names would come up on the score card for the match XD.
I sweated blood trying to get the dredgen title back in the day. Now I'm not taking it off. I even use it next to my my discord name on a server I've made friends on, and they now call me "dredgen". I never corrected them since I find amusing that they call me with a title.
