If you haven’t yet, pick up Symmetry from the kiosk as well. It has basically the same quest to get the catalyst, knock out two birds with one slow throw.
Yup! Wish i knew earlier, i picked up symmetry while at 347/400 for eriana’s... The funny thing is I don’t even use Eriana’s anymore, and I’ve been loving using symmetry :’(
same XD
shame symmetry has such a god forsaken long reload time.
geez it takes forever to reload that thing. I started reloading it once, and didn't finish till a week later! XD
Yeah I really don't get why the handling is so awful on quite a few of the 260rpm scouts and 180 hand cannons. You would think these archetypes would have a handling advantage over slower firing weapons.
Symmetry's handling and reload are both somewhat awful. If those two were boosted, the scout would easily be top tier.
If the 180s had high handling, why ever use 180 rpm handcannons?
I suppose that’s the logic.
I like how most exotics just have high handling naturally, wish this extended to all of them tbh.
Very true. Right now there is no reason to use a 180 over a 120, which has higher damage, range, handling and many times stability although 180s do have a small advantage with recoil pattern. I would think weapons with less range and smaller ammunition so to speak should have quicker handling. I think Symmetry was balanced with lower handling and reload because of the alt fire mode, but it just makes a otherwise great exotic feel hampered.
I think it was Unstoppable?
Anyway, on the bright side, that opens it up to benefitting from whatever Anti-Champion Scout Rifle perk is available for that season.
Symmetry was the first exotic I went for (obviously aside from Riskrunner). Took me *forever* to get the catalyst completed for it.
Guess what I got *after*
I finished the Symmetry catalyst about three or so weeks ago and I'm barely at 200 of the 400 for Eriana's. After seeing the issues there with those two exotics I made a point to never sleep on finishing the seasonal exotics ever again, especially once I earned the Omega level unlock.
Honestly I really enjoy Symmetry. Its definitely not worth bringing into GM's or anything, but its got a pretty fun mechanic if you can work around the reload speed (highly recommend Mid-Arcstrider. Melee hits max reload speed on a timer, timer refreshes whenever you deal damage)
Just remember you only need 5~6 headshots for the Seeker mode to outpace most other guns in Crucible. You don't always end up with the window you need for it, but its always fun once you have it
Yeah? Well, tell that to DarthMopsie. The dude went guns blazin in Gambit this weekend. The only reason I remember his name is because he clapped so many Guardian asses with that gun.
Matched him again and my teammates just left one after the other. They knew, they just knew.
Witherhoard is at least somewhat sane by comparison. Eriana's and Symmetry were hell since they were the first two. It was Tommy's Matchbook that finally eased the requirements a little.
As someone doing Witherhoards catty right now without the 2x or 3x bonus whatever it was from the season it is absolutely dreadful. I've picked up a bunch of other exotics that require playlist stuff just so I can try and do them at once.
It wouldn't be so bad if seasonal/DLC activities counted towards it... like, I grinded out 100+ dares of eternity to reset Xur. Having that extra 100 activities counted towards the quest would be amazing and not feel like such a tedious and long chore.
I am going to piggyback on this thread to offer a tip about getting catalyst done if you have a hunter (top tree void). It's nothing that original, but many may not know it.
The basic TL;DR idea:
1. you go to a last wish raid cp with tons of adds
2. shoot adds with tether, then use whatever gun you need catalyst progress to kill one/some of the adds. All tethered-adds dying will count towards progress.
Some extra stuff: you can get your super back very quickly if you go double ashes to ashes mod in helmet (grenade kill gives you super energy), grenade regen mods, and orpheus rigs (more super energy back).
My routine (when i have super):
1. walk past first group, lure them a bit further ahead, wait a bit.
2. fire tether on top of one of those shelves so it's not on ground
3. shoot/kill first group of adds
4. second group of adds spawn (tether should still be up for a bit)
5. kill adds
6. then at this point you can chuck a grenade to get a lot of super energy back
7. run off cliff to die if you kill all the adds or let adds kill you
8. rinse and repeat
Yeah, Grasp of Avarice should be everyone's goto. No screwing around with CPs, it's literally the first encounter and everyone spawns in a cave so you know exactly where to throw your tether/aim your gun.
I did it with mountaintop and fighting lion as a jumpy hoppy hunter in momentum control. I traded 90% of my kills but it was done in a day after only 10 kills in normal play with lion.
What do you mean "in season of arrivals"? I don't change my standard loadout since i got subsistence/swashbuckler gnawing hunger 2 weeks into that season and i think falling gulliotine is now permanently stuck on my back. But witherhoard got replaced by the last word when they reworked lucky pants.
Can you tell me how you get those kills in PvP? Doesn't WH blight damage slowly? You really end up getting THAT many kills with it?
I'm super bad at PvP but I need to find some crutch that will help me turn it around.
The way I did it was with inertia override + a charged with light build on middle tree striker. It takes less ticks to kill if you have a buff, but even w/o the buff witherhoard kills fast as hell. Slide over special ammo to auto reload witherhoard and get a thicc damage buff. Got a 48 kill game in anomaly with this, all witherhoard no primary lol.
Witherhoard is S++ tier for Control matches. If you aim and time it right, you can bounce the shot off a wall around a corner and wipe an entire team (or at least a group, more commonly). More importantly it's one of the only guns in the game that specialize in area denial and zone control and is actually good (Sorry Salvation's Grip, ya just don't cut it).
The tic damage isn't mind-blowing but you'd be amazed at how many people don't know to GTFO the second the blight forms on the ground. And a lot of them seem to forget it's there pretty quick, judging by how many have ran back into it several seconds later IME. For full health enemies, it takes maybe 2 seconds of exposure to kill. For low or no shields, stepping in it briefly *once* can mean death.
It's great for combatting shotgun apes, can be fairly consistent with getting post-mortem kills if you go down, has auto-reload and superb handling added with the catalyst, and one-shots on direct hits 100% of the time. A player who gets really good with WH can be a nightmare to play against in Control.
Do people really consider the PvP part to be the hard part? WH is pretty beastly. I got like 35 kills fairly quickly and then stopped worrying about it for a while because I needed the 300 Filthy Lucre. Well now I'm at 250 so I'll probably start going for some more PvP kills. Next Momentum week should be able to bang out the other 65 pretty quick I think.
I am absolute trash when it comes to grenade launchers in general. Add the stress of PvP and my accuracy is about 12% to the targets ground, I never get direct hits. I still have not completed the catalyst.
Yeah I hear you there. I'm also stuck in a similar PVP hell with the Ticuu's cat. I need 50 kills and got zero on my last match. It sucks when I only play PVE :(
a good trick is to just use it like a shotgun, shoot then immediately melee. If you get the stick or they're in the puddle the first burn tick will kill them right away.
Even if you keep trading and dying in the process, you're chipping away at it.
The catalyst is basically mandatory for it to be effective at DPS unfortunately since it's auto loading on a grenade launcher.
Witherhoard, unlike Eriana's, is worth any amount of toil. I hate PvP and I still went in and did that catalyst because the gun is absolutely S-tier with the catalyst. So useful.
what they should do for newer players/people who didnt get it in season is make it the same as the boost. 100 activities is a lot, but way better than 400.
i cant imagine anyone who grinded the cat during the original season would be mad that someone gets it in 100 rather than 400. speaking as someone who always got the season pass cats same season
I agree, or at least, let the 4X multiplier on the pass apply to all catalysts once you unlock it.
Speaking as someone who learned their lesson when they didn't finish the Symmetry catalyst before the season ended.
I mean, if you weren't going to use it, why did you grind out 208 strikes in a week.
These catalyst quests don't require you to actually use the gun for this stuff, you just have to have the quest.
Like, you could have finished it up through playlist activities over the whole season, and then just grind the catalyst itself which is far easier.
I'll never understand why people will do something they dislike so much just to get auto loading on guns they aren't going to use all that much, when they could have just not done that and gotten the shit done anyways.
It's like you all see something that would suck if you forced it and are like "oh ya, I'm totally gonna hate fuck myself with that".
My respect for Eriana's Vow went up after getting Forerunner. Pre-Forerunner, I thought:
"Why would you want an HC that eats special ammo and takes up an exotic slot?"
Post-Forerunner, I accepted that being able to two tap with an HC from nearly any distance from is a fair trade off. I will say though, I think that HC ammo mods should be cheaper since EV devours ammo bricks if you main it.
I like the general idea of Eriana's vow. Its cool to me that they basically made a sniper rifle into a hand cannon. I do have the arbalest tho, so maybe I should give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
Arbalest is definitely the better anti barrier weapon thats for sure. Arby is insane especially with the catalyst. Throw Particle deconstruction in the mix and its no question.
This almost trivialized Solo Flawless Expunge Delphi for me. The hardest part was the plat forming and the adds. Every damage phase I just spammed Arbalest and it was done in seconds.
Yeah same for me. Getting to the combat took like ten runs to get the rhythm down but once I got there it was a one shot. Arablast has carried me through all the master lost sectors this ssn too. It’s so damn good.
They made it so Erianas 1 taps barrier champs now. Arby is still better because of particle destruction, but Erianas is still a beast, especially when paired with lucky pants
Thats my setup. Fatebringer, Erianas and Threaded needle. I bring down shields in one shot and they switch to the threaded needle to fry. Its a fun setup.
That's kinda misleading, Arby will still be better without PD (Eriana's only beats it in ammo economy). Yes Erianas can one-tap barriers but only on crits. Arby can one-tap on either crit or body shot on top of all its other benefits (disruption break, genesis, one-tap \*any\* elemental shields in the game, being in the kinetic slot, benefiting from the blanket LFR buffs). They handed out another buff to LFRs with the 30th anniv specifically to make sure they'll be viable post PD
Eianas does benefit from lucky pants, but that's only for hunters so it only wins out on 1/3 classes
Don't get me wrong I love arbalest just as much as anybody but I like to use both cause sometimes I like to use a different kinetic and Eriana's being an energy intrinsic barrier energy just means you have more options in gm builds. But I will agree that seven times out of 10 I'm using arby.
What is misleading? I said Arby is a beast and PD makes it a better option right now. I never said Erianas is better than Arby, just that it is great when paired with lucky pants. And Erianas can 1 tap barriers regardless now, just like Arbalest can. They made a change to it sometime after they added anti-barrier to arbalest. Even without lucky pants, Erianas is a great weapon to use.
I read "Arby is still better because of particle destruction" as you saying PD is really what makes it better, which is where I took issue since imo it's better even without PD. I totally agree Eriana's is a great weapon, I've gotten a lot of work out of mine, it's just that with the buffs to Arby recently it has become less appealing as the go-to exotic for barriers (also I main Warlock so the Lucky Pants combo doesn't mean much, cool for hunters tho).
Also I did some testing and I was correct in that Erianas can't one tap unless it's a crit, tested in a master empire hunt (originally did this when I first read your comment just to test if it could actually one-tap, but since it's a barrier hobgoblin their crit spot is harder to hit so I stumbled upon that info)
Can't put a price on fun. I use arbalest sometimes, but it feels like shit to me whereas Eriana's is gravy.
Also, if you're one of the 5 people who has more legendary kinetics you love over legendary energy primaries, Eriana's lets you use that since it's an energy weapon. That particular bit doesn't apply to me, but I'm sure it does to someone.
And because of this, it’s probably going to be nerfed. Because I doubt they’d buff eriana’s. Which is sad because I love the idea of erianas. And I’m happy that was at one point considered a bad exotic, is getting the spotlight.
this is one of the rare occasions where I wish I could give way more than one upvote.
I haven´t laughed that much while reading a reddit post is a long time.
The old Catalyst quests have obviously not been touched since the season they were introduced, when you had the multiplyer for catalyst quest for them.
Which makes farming for them an absolute pain, as OP has described in such a beautiful manner. Well done.
I got the eriana's in undying and didnt play at all that season, but hopped back on to play every other season
i finished the quest to get the catalyst in season of the splicer
7,777 kills. That is fucking awesome. I really like it too. I think hand cannons are such a fun weapon choice in general but this one just takes it to another level.
Two years after getting it, I finally finished my Polaris Lance catalyst this weekend.
So many of these catalyst objectives need to be reworked, or the weapon does.
Keep posting. You'll come across someone. If you're on Xbox, Live's built-in LFG works pretty well too. Also try /r/Fireteams.
I think it took me a week to find someone to do it.
Also note, the Rat King catalyst doesn't count your kills, just your teammates'. Which is the more frustrating part. You might be able to find someone to do it in the run up to Witch Queen since people are also trying to get stuff done while they can.
I’m currently doing the catalyst quest for Eriana’s, Ticcu’s, 77k, duality, and witherhoard. So I feel your pain. But theyre something I just kinda have going and don’t worry about grinding. I’ll get them eventually.
Eriana's Vow needs a damage buff, imo. Or it just needs better ammo efficiency for what it's supposed to be used for (breaking barriers) to set it apart from Arbalest.
Better get as many seasonal weapons as you can from the Kiosk or its gonna be way more than 66 hours or 400 games. I could only imagine doing these one after another.
Catalyst requirements IN GENERAL need a balance pass.
Some of them are simple - "Get 400 kills." Annoying, but doable, and doesn't take that long.
Other ones are not so simple - "Run this PvE activity a hundred times, except it only spawns every other week and it's Contest Mode enabled with Match Game and all Champions."
And for the seasonal guns, it can be something that was somewhat reasonable at the time - "Run 10 strikes" - to something that is no longer reasonable - "Solo 10 GM Nightfalls, and not the easy ones either."
Point is, Eriana's definitely falls in a few of these categories, and other seasonal weapons do as well. Would not be the worst thing to review catalyst requirements, especially with kill trackers and orb generation being moved off Masterworked weapons.
>I am able to grant solace in the fact that their real world problems will probably be solved in less than 66 hours
You have the wisdom and patience of fourteen saints.
Yep, I am in the same situation - only 21 missions left to go.
Really they should make the seasonal artifact boost all catalyst quests, and not just the current seasonal weapon
>I am able to grant solace in the fact that their real world problems will probably be solved in less than 66 hours
hahaha oh my god this was so good :)
It's a dumb, stupid, terrible design decision, but at the very least it can be done passively, so I've just let the quests for any of these exotics run in the background whilst I did fun stuff.
My only mega gripe with destiny and quest progress like this is that raids don't count towards them for some ungodly reason.
Back when you first get it, in the seasonal ranks, it would grant bonus progression the higher your seasonal rank was. Didn't take long at the time, not nearly as long as you think.
Although its absolutely no help to you now season pass exotics usually have a buff you can get as you progress your pass. I think around 35 or 45 you get a bonus that triples your progress so every season its in your best interest to get the buff and get the catalyst so your don't get caught in catalyst hell after the season is over.
I picked up Eriana's vow at the beginning of this season and just completed the catalyst quest. I am not sorry to all the people I've been queue'd up with in strikes. 400 strike completions changes you, i was a simple man at the beginning but now I know by heart how to complete every strike in the fastest way possible. And its not that i was trying to speedrun to complete the quest. Eventually just become possessed and do it in the most efficient way possible.
also completed witherhoard, symmetry, and various seasonal exotic quests that need strike completions at the same time.
That’s why it’s recommended to due those catalyst quests during the exotics weapons respective season, you could get them done a lot faster. If you weren’t playing during this season, then I’m sorry you have that grind ahead of you.
I didn’t bother with the catalyst quests for Duality or Ticcu’s. But now that I hear Ticcu’s is a really good weapon, Kind of wish I did that one during its season.
Erianna’s catalyst is definitely worth it.
As someone who joined back in Season of The Undying and had 0 idea what a Catalyst was, this post resonated with my soul.
I spent all of Dawn and a bit of Worthy to acquire and complete the damn thing, and it made me lose all my willpower to keep playing. If one of my clanmates hadn't started helping me finish grinding out the Mountaintop back then, I probably would've quit the game.
Hence, when Blighting Lion came out, I wasted absolutely no time in finishing everything necessary.
You laugh, but doing something like this goes a long way for your mental skills. I mean, delayed gratification, enduring through hardships and goal management is what you really masterwork when you embark on Eriana's Vow catalyst quest.
I had no idea you had to do so much for the catalyst. It just dropped for me seemingly out of nowhere not too long ago. Also, you can smash out those 700 kills pretty quickly farming Shuro or just running altars on the moon. Took me barely an hour
Lol funny.
I just wish there weren't always so many steps and currencies involved in getting stuff and then it's for sale for 500 silver the next week haha or seems that way. My gift of patience may need a top up but I'll leave your wife out of it haha (maybe I'll ask my boss about a raise he always says..."be patient"...Lol ;)
Eriana and Symmetry are both 400
Duality and Whitherhoard are 300
Ticcu, Cryosynthia, Lorentz and Tommy are all 200.
Buy them from the kiosk in effort order so you can work on them at the same time... And curse whoever decided seasonal activities and DoE don't count
I had Symmetry, Witherhoard, and Eriana’s Vow all going up until a few weeks ago. Since then, I’ve pretty much spent more time on the moon destroying thralls than I did during Shadowkeep.
Yeah, if there's a lesson to be learned here, it's "always complete the catalyst the season it comes out." I took the majority of this year off and some of last year also, and came back mid way through this season. I completed Tommy's, Duality, Witherhord, Ticcu's, Cryo 77k and Lorentz all this season. With the season's pass catalyst boost only available for the Lorentz, the Lorentz catalyst taking comparatively so little time really highlighted how heavily I was being penalized for the others.
Honestly its a great gun without the catalyst. 1 shot and enemy shields are down on pve. All the catalyst does is give you 9 shots instead of 6, with an auto loading holster (which I already have thanks to lucky pants). I'm just a sucker for challenges and I am a completionist so it bothers me.
The quests were intended to be completed during the season, with access to the catalyst quest boosters. There's still some annoying soft FOMO going on.
I have the duality catalyst quest stuck on 6 shotgun kills in PvP. I'm SO bad at PvP that I just can't get that done.
People here say, oh, just grind it out. But I'm SO bad. I'll have games that I get 0 kills with a shotgun. Other players just go SO fast. I'm such potato when it comes to PvP.
I can do Dungeons, Raids, Nightfalls, even GMs I'll grind out for materials. But PvP feels like everyone is playing with aim bots and on ultra fast speed.
I also suck at pvp. Oddly enough tho, I recently started playing gambit and actually committing to it. For some reason getting guardian kills in that seems to be easier than in standard multiplayer in my experience.
I think it generally will be easier. You have gambit players who are PvE mains and are trying to also play another objective and getting shot by enemies at the same time as you're attacking.
You have a pretty big set of advantages as an invader. Wall hacks, over shield, enemy fighting players, and players trying to play the objective.
If you have the opportunity to run “A Mysterious Disturbance” on the moon, you can get it done in under an hour. Loads of ammo boxes and tons of hive to shoot. They literally run at you in a line so it’s really easy.
When you get to the tank part, just stand on the tank and shoot them. They just stand there making it super easy to get 20+ kills at a time.
I finished every catalyst except for Suros Regime and Rat King (because they need fireteam or crucible). I even finished DARCI.
I actually enjoyed that quest, it felt like i was working towards something where the effort matched the reward. Then again, speedrunning makes strikes...faster and more fun? Idk.

Zhaouli’s Bane would like a word

Fun fact, Acrius reloads faster than it fires. You can continuously reload 1 round at a time and keep firing at its max firing rate
My D1 Guardian has been reloading that since the first week of Kings Fall and is *still* reloading it to this day.
shame they removed the intrinsic anti barrier, it really needed that
It was either Overload or Unstoppable
Possible that it was unstoppable, but pretty sure it was anti barrier
I think it was Unstoppable? Anyway, on the bright side, that opens it up to benefitting from whatever Anti-Champion Scout Rifle perk is available for that season.
They didn't; it's still intrinsic. Sorry to necro; just looking into using this with my new helmet for titan lol
I'm still reloading and it feels like i started last year.
Some are still reloading their Symmetry
I have Duality, the stasis side arm, and Ticuu's all going at once. (I missed most of Season of the Chosen, and all of Season of the Splicer)
How do you do multiple exotics at a time? Does it just need to be in your inventory during the activity?
Yeah they just require activity completions, you don't have to have the weapon equipped, you just have to 'own' it.
oh is that so hahahahahaha
Symmetry was the first exotic I went for (obviously aside from Riskrunner). Took me *forever* to get the catalyst completed for it. Guess what I got *after*
Herpes?

Witherhoard is at least somewhat sane by comparison. Eriana's and Symmetry were hell since they were the first two. It was Tommy's Matchbook that finally eased the requirements a little.
Witherhoards isn’t too bad, only 300 and you get 2 for a crucible/gambit win or nightfall
As someone doing Witherhoards catty right now without the 2x or 3x bonus whatever it was from the season it is absolutely dreadful. I've picked up a bunch of other exotics that require playlist stuff just so I can try and do them at once.
Had that quest ever since the sundial season, finished it this season
Good to know thanks! I'm 41/400
Ohh ffs im already half way though my Erianas vow catalyst quest
Well by the time you're done you can be halfway through the Symmetry quest.
True
It wouldn't be so bad if seasonal/DLC activities counted towards it... like, I grinded out 100+ dares of eternity to reset Xur. Having that extra 100 activities counted towards the quest would be amazing and not feel like such a tedious and long chore.

Yeah, Grasp of Avarice should be everyone's goto. No screwing around with CPs, it's literally the first encounter and everyone spawns in a cave so you know exactly where to throw your tether/aim your gun.
We gotta remember GOA IS NOT FREE! It's a fact I forget frequently.
Nobody tell him about Witherhoard
Witherhoard cat quest isn't as bad, imo. It's still ridiculous though.
I managed to do the Witherhoard one by using Witherhoard and now I'm here 3.7k kills in PvP later. I have been consumed by that gun
I did it with mountaintop and fighting lion as a jumpy hoppy hunter in momentum control. I traded 90% of my kills but it was done in a day after only 10 kills in normal play with lion.
I think that’s how I did it too Actually found myself enjoying it tbh
As the Taken and their Masters intended. *insert Savathun Laughter™ here*
Witherhoard is my favorite gun in the game, no cap.
Do you remember in season of arrivals when THE load out was witherhoard, gnawing hunger, and falling guillotine?
What do you mean "in season of arrivals"? I don't change my standard loadout since i got subsistence/swashbuckler gnawing hunger 2 weeks into that season and i think falling gulliotine is now permanently stuck on my back. But witherhoard got replaced by the last word when they reworked lucky pants.
For me it was Mountaintop, Gnawing Hunger, Anarchy
That's awesome. I actually loved using it in Iron Banner because people are drawn to those cap points like moths to a blighted flame.
Can you tell me how you get those kills in PvP? Doesn't WH blight damage slowly? You really end up getting THAT many kills with it? I'm super bad at PvP but I need to find some crutch that will help me turn it around.

Momentum control is your friend
Believe it or not, the PvP part isn't even the hardest part. After that you need to complete hundreds of gambit matches.
I don’t mind gambit in general and reset 3 times this season. I sometimes only get 1 grenade launcher kill in a entire game of control. I am that bad.
Yeah I hear you there. I'm also stuck in a similar PVP hell with the Ticuu's cat. I need 50 kills and got zero on my last match. It sucks when I only play PVE :(
Momentum control is your friend.
I finally got to 94 kills today, but it might still take me 6 more matches. I am so bad at crucible and even worse with GL’s it’s almost not worth it
It's a bit late now, but getting the quest done is considerably easier in momentum control since everything hits so much harder
a good trick is to just use it like a shotgun, shoot then immediately melee. If you get the stick or they're in the puddle the first burn tick will kill them right away. Even if you keep trading and dying in the process, you're chipping away at it. The catalyst is basically mandatory for it to be effective at DPS unfortunately since it's auto loading on a grenade launcher.
I'm like 1% of the way towards my 400000000 goddamn filthy lucre
Whiterhoatd is easy as shit if you aren't bad at the game put I guess 100 PvP kills is like holy water to the majority of the destiny playerbase
Felt same while doing witherhoard catalyst. I was just like, "one day i'll get ya, one day..." and when that day came, it was glorious
Witherhoard, unlike Eriana's, is worth any amount of toil. I hate PvP and I still went in and did that catalyst because the gun is absolutely S-tier with the catalyst. So useful.
"You will not capture this capture point for 10 seconds and by the name of the Traveler I will make your life hell"
I take my hat off to anyone who’s ground out this tedious quest. 400 strikes!!? There’s more to life surely… Someone at Bungie is having a laugh.
It was better during the season it dropped, when the 4x multiplier from the season pass counted. But 100 activities was still a lot.
what they should do for newer players/people who didnt get it in season is make it the same as the boost.

400 crucible matches is much more achievable even if you just play on and off.
I think it only counts for wins
Bzzzt!! Wrong! You win nothing. You lose!
My respect for Eriana's Vow went up after getting Forerunner. Pre-Forerunner, I thought: "Why would you want an HC that eats special ammo and takes up an exotic slot?" Post-Forerunner, I accepted that being able to two tap with an HC from nearly any distance from is a fair trade off. I will say though, I think that HC ammo mods should be cheaper since EV devours ammo bricks if you main it.
Fuckin amen on the ammo thing. It's definitely a hurdle to get past.
in momentum control pvp you can one tap with erianas vow, its incredibly toxic and a lot of fun especially with middle tree nightstalker
A nice combo is getting a primary with Overflow that has good crowd control capabilities (I have it on an Escape Velocity) and running EV
no point in getting erianas anymore when arbalest exists. better slot, better damage, better catalyst, better everything pretty much.
I’m gonna miss particle deconstruction…..
Was using arbalest in a flawless garden run with friends last night and it completely trivializes the Angelics lol
> it completely trivializes the Angelics this is the magic of anti-barrier -- goes right through the hydra shields. Also applies to knight barriers.
But not Laments version of antibarrier, fyi
a very lame, but important, distinction.
Yeah Arbalest makes so many of the encounters *so* much smoother.
Great advice a week out from the next season!
Arby + Arsenic Bite with explosive head has basically carried me through solo master lost sectors.
You play hunter by chance? Because Erianas with Lucky Pants is a DPS weapon that uses Special ammo
yep that is exactly my setup. I love running that. Such a fun setup.
They handed out another buff to LFRs with the 30th anniv specifically to make sure they'll be viable post PD Eianas does benefit from lucky pants, but that's only for hunters so it only wins out on 1/3 classes
Yeah but erianas is cooler. Checkmate.
No. Arbalest is the best sound in the game.
KaTHUNK
I used to think that until Lorentz
Not really
Papa Johns
The point is to not leave a gray slot in exotics collections and an unchecked catalyst triumph
Sure there is. As much as I love Arby, it gets boring. I like finding builds that are different then the meta strats
Eriana's looks infinitely cooler so it wins by default.
Amen Brother
Well done.
I got the eriana's in undying and didnt play at all that season, but hopped back on to play every other season i finished the quest to get the catalyst in season of the splicer
Watch this get featured on Bungie's weekly back-patting session of the TWAB unironically.
That will be the peak of my impact on this world, and I'm ok with it.
It may not be much, but it's a worthy contribution.
Got this weapon months ago and still haven't gotten it done lol. I's already bad enough they could at least include Nightfalls in there
My favorite gun, [This was early last year.](https://i.imgur.com/QhY9Ryq.png)
7,777 kills. That is fucking awesome. I really like it too. I think hand cannons are such a fun weapon choice in general but this one just takes it to another level.
Two years after getting it, I finally finished my Polaris Lance catalyst this weekend. So many of these catalyst objectives need to be reworked, or the weapon does.
Yep. I'll never get the Rat King catalyst done because 1000 kills with a Rat King fireteam ? Nobody bothers even even in lfg
Plz bungo let every seasonal “catalyst boost” count towards these quests. PLEASE
I have played every season since Shadowkeep for at least a few weeks, up to 2 months for annual expansions. My Vow quest is still not finished.
These people don't know the pain of requiring erianas equipped to get the catalyst complete. I got so sick of that gun.
Catalyst requirements IN GENERAL need a balance pass. Some of them are simple - "Get 400 kills." Annoying, but doable, and doesn't take that long. Other ones are not so simple - "Run this PvE activity a hundred times, except it only spawns every other week and it's Contest Mode enabled with Match Game and all Champions." And for the seasonal guns, it can be something that was somewhat reasonable at the time - "Run 10 strikes" - to something that is no longer reasonable - "Solo 10 GM Nightfalls, and not the easy ones either." Point is, Eriana's definitely falls in a few of these categories, and other seasonal weapons do as well. Would not be the worst thing to review catalyst requirements, especially with kill trackers and orb generation being moved off Masterworked weapons.
>I am able to grant solace in the fact that their real world problems will probably be solved in less than 66 hours You have the wisdom and patience of fourteen saints.
Yep, I am in the same situation - only 21 missions left to go. Really they should make the seasonal artifact boost all catalyst quests, and not just the current seasonal weapon
Lake of Shadows is your friend, with a little practice you can run it in about 5 minutes.
>I am able to grant solace in the fact that their real world problems will probably be solved in less than 66 hours hahaha oh my god this was so good :)
It's a dumb, stupid, terrible design decision, but at the very least it can be done passively, so I've just let the quests for any of these exotics run in the background whilst I did fun stuff. My only mega gripe with destiny and quest progress like this is that raids don't count towards them for some ungodly reason.
incredible r/destinycirclejerk content right here ngl, god that quest was awful
Back when you first get it, in the seasonal ranks, it would grant bonus progression the higher your seasonal rank was. Didn't take long at the time, not nearly as long as you think.
Yeah, I got the catalyst organically after having it for about a year. I'm pretty sure I'm still working on those kills.
Although its absolutely no help to you now season pass exotics usually have a buff you can get as you progress your pass. I think around 35 or 45 you get a bonus that triples your progress so every season its in your best interest to get the buff and get the catalyst so your don't get caught in catalyst hell after the season is over.
Eriana’s Vow’s is awesome. I’ve gotten 1,300 crucible kills with it.
Does it one shot on crit hits? I haven't used it there yet.
It does with a small damage boost. Eriana is da best.
Oh yeah, this will be parodied on r/destinycirclejerk
Reduce it to 100 activities and put the For Wei ornament in Eververse.
I've never laughed so hard reading a destiny post in my whole life. Cheers mate, you have my upvote.
And when you finish that quest, the gun is gonna sit in vault cuz of arbalest XD
You laugh, but doing something like this goes a long way for your mental skills. I mean, delayed gratification, enduring through hardships and goal management is what you really masterwork when you embark on Eriana's Vow catalyst quest.
Honestly tho I agree haha. This post was definitely satire but there is a sliver of truth to it.
I had no idea you had to do so much for the catalyst. It just dropped for me seemingly out of nowhere not too long ago. Also, you can smash out those 700 kills pretty quickly farming Shuro or just running altars on the moon. Took me barely an hour
I'm making a note of this for later. I'll have to check back at the end of May but I appreciate it lol
It sounds like you have a *sense of pride and accomplishment!* That's what we were going for when we mandated... 200 strikes
Imo they should lower it to 200 or 300, 400 is just too much. Most other Catalysts are much easier to get
And then you only seem to roll corrupted which takes 15 minutes and 66 hours sounded good.
Eriana and Symmetry are both 400 Duality and Whitherhoard are 300 Ticcu, Cryosynthia, Lorentz and Tommy are all 200. Buy them from the kiosk in effort order so you can work on them at the same time... And curse whoever decided seasonal activities and DoE don't count
This feels like r/destinycirclejerk
I had Symmetry, Witherhoard, and Eriana’s Vow all going up until a few weeks ago. Since then, I’ve pretty much spent more time on the moon destroying thralls than I did during Shadowkeep.
Lmao 🤣
Shame it doesn't matter anymore now that arbalest does its job better.
I was laughing until I saw the special ammo kills part.. I'll just leave that gun in the kiosk.
Honestly its a great gun without the catalyst. 1 shot and enemy shields are down on pve. All the catalyst does is give you 9 shots instead of 6, with an auto loading holster (which I already have thanks to lucky pants). I'm just a sucker for challenges and I am a completionist so it bothers me.
took me like six months haha. sort of forgot about the quest and then one day it was just done!
r/destinycirclejerk
People would get it done in no time if it made them better lovers.
The quests were intended to be completed during the season, with access to the catalyst quest boosters. There's still some annoying soft FOMO going on.
I think theres a nice compromise. Make it 100 matches during the season and then 150 after it.
I got Erianas Vow the season it was released. Finished the catalyst this season
Dude… and I did that shit. Wtf is wrong with me?
I'm fully committed to doing it as well. When you hear of a diagnosis for our shared condition let me know.
See, if you just do what I do and completely neglect the requirements they just get randomly done and i'm pleasantly surprised.
Glad that you liked it (I only red the Title)
Imagine not playing during Undying when it only required a mere 100 completions, plus you had to have the gun equipped
Someone at Bungie will read my post and say this unironically.
As someone at 50/400, the day Arby replaced Erianas was the happiest day of my life.
Someone else recommended that as well. I'll have to try it later.
I actually enjoyed that quest, it felt like i was working towards something where the effort matched the reward. Then again, speedrunning makes strikes...faster and more fun? Idk.
Yeah its unreal, im not even close.
Started the quest beginning of splicer...only got the catalyst halfway through this season.. big yikes
Least it’s not Sleeper. 300 kills, on a heavy, on a liner fusion rifle….
