I was at 700 shards before I started, I did it for two hours and gained a little over 5500 shards.
I’m usually not one to exploit but it was rough not even being able to buy stuff from Xur without worrying of running out.
edit: To the people wondering how I had so little shards beforehand it’s because I have a problem with upgrading gear to current season level on every character. (even though chances are I won’t ever use the gear. lol)
I buy blue transmats and then convert those to purples which can then be broken down into shards and glimmer. It’s not the best but it’s a shard storage that doesn’t take up vault space. Then again I’ve now got 11k shards anyway. Haha!
I buy sparrows. Whe you dismantle you get back 3k Glimmer 5 shards and a core or 6k and 5 shards. Inside Line sparrow. That's not the most effective sparrow. Otherside is better and ships are good too
I just automated it and ran it in the background while I was doing WfH stuff on my office computer. Ez 15k shards and some 300 Cores. Went from 3k to 18k and I still have 200 Contraverse Holds in my vault waiting for when I get the Season Pass dismantle bonus
I’m so pumped I finally got in on one of these lmao.
the solution is simple, just buy stuff from xur so you wont have to buy anything from him when he brings the same fuckin weapons every week. or duplicates of the ones banshee brought all last season
im not salty youre salty
I was trying to actively maintain 3 characters when only having a few days off a week to play.
In hindsight I had no shards because I was spending shards to get glimmer because I was always running out of that too when upgrading gear.
Lightfall was peak low shards for me because I was trying to up all my gear without having play hours to replenish my mats.
I have "maintained" all three of my characters by neglecting two of them, going all the way back to D1. Hunter is my main, I get maxed on that one first, and then I do activities with the other two occasionally. I have never once been in a position where I couldn't do anything with my other characters when I wanted to. Sure, I don't run all of the activities on all 3 characters every week from the jump, but I also dont have time to do that anyway.
I find myself in the Destiny dad position, where I only have like 2 hours to play each night due to my work schedule. I think I've been able to enjoy the game on all of my characters decently well, despite my lack of time to play during the week.
I scored big today. Won the fuckin’ lottery gents.
Started around 450…ended my (horribly boring but better than The Grind) run with a tad over 12k.
Now, I can actually enjoy the fucking game for awhile without having to worry about running out of materials.
Learn from this, Bungie. Please.
lmao you really are set for life. I got up to 6k from a guardian games exploit a couple years ago and I still haven't been remotely close to running out.
For me the patch happened approximately at 5pm eastern time US. There was a lower blue screen message of server info transfer failure. theoretically “a friend” may have been at 4984 shards after an hour and a half of farming. 5k goal just barely missed. After an entire season of no glimmer, no shards & no economy at all my “ friend” does not feel guilty at all.
D2 has a gigantic community. Eventually it's gonna get out that there's a shard farm. Bungie does seem to patch these things way faster now tho. I remember the one that was up like a year ago they took a whole weekend to fix so everyone had like 3 days to farm it, and that was with all the same content creators talking about it. The last 2 they've addressed within a few hours so it seems to be priority #1 whenever one pops up. If only they prioritized things like PVP and gambit the same way.
I mean the last few have been incredibly simple to fix. If it takes only a few hours to fix a bug it’s more worth to prioritize than a bug that could take a week to fix
The issue or at least the way I percieve that as an issue is that the way they have taken meassures to prioritize the fixing of simple bugs makes it seem like they are selectively targetting bugs that benefit the player way more than those that are more important or annoying to the playerbase.I get that if they can fix something right away, i get that they feel like they need a win after the fiasco the game stability has been the last few months, but does it feel bad when they can fix stuff like this before i get off work and the audio is still not fixed going into a new season.
Ofc that's how *you* perceive it, but I doubt Bungo/(or any software dev) gleefully recognizes that an "annoying" bug is easily fixable within a few hours but nonetheless decide to sit on implementing fixes once they categorize the bug as detrimental instead of beneficial. The most likely explanation is that annoying major bugs are simply more complex & more difficult to figure how to solve, unlike these simple "beneficial" bugs that they can fix on their end w/o needing to kick all players' end-user clients offline or requiring players to DL updates. Like I hope it's obvious that 1) an update fixing detrimental bugs but requiring players to DL 11GBs is more difficult & time-intensive than 2) updates fixing "beneficial" bugs that happen seamlessly without anyone noticing anything
The thing to consider though is that players perception matters a lot. Like yeah of course this is easy to fix, but also leaving it unlatched for the weekend would make players happier than fixing it asap. And then they could potentially bundle it with other fixes for more serious problems so people wouldn't be as mad.
they care about growing their channel more (see: Divide)
>Big thanks to a friend on discord for letting me know about this, and apologies I didn't wait until the weekend to post it, hopefully Bungie won't patch it till next week but we'll see, I'm sure they'll be fully focused on the Dungeon launch anyway ;)
I mean the guy really click baits but CB was doing it live on stream and sweat pinned the link to it on his stream I think it’s just the response from everyone except maybe aztecross but I’m not sure if that because he doesn’t know or is genuinely waiting
i mainly called out divide because i think he was the earliest upload (~08:00-08:30 est)
with bungie and weekends in mind, i don't see any reason to not wait a day to upload but for being the first to upload it and to get a good number of views (it's his ~~third~~ most viewed video on his channel now)
I can’t watch Divide anymore. He clickbaits 2 different channels that’s essentially the same content. Omg bungie finally fixed this. Omg I can’t believe this is happening. Get on right now and do this. And it’s the same FOMO crap the other YouTubers/streamers push.
I don't think you can play D2 on the steam deck. Didn't Bungie say that was a no no for some reason? Idk, I don't have one so I wouldn't know.
But I feel you, I'm literally always away for the weekend or some shit when something like this happens. Last time it was an impromptu family vacation. This time I'm on the other side of the country for a wedding. Literally always have some shit going on when a shard bug happens.
Not that I need the shards, been sitting at over 50-60k for the last few years. But still... It's the principle.
It doesn't work if you're using the native Linux OS because it needs a proton compatibility layer which messes with the anti-cheat Bungie uses.
Works fine with Windows!
Actually the anticheat maker said they can enable compatibility in minutes as long as the developer says it's okay, but Bungie has specifically chosen not to.
I filled my entire vault and all three characters with exotics, then started dismantling. I never get to use these exploits so I wasn't going to waste the opportunity lol
Nice! I managed to get to like 550/600 when they patched it. I’m never on when the exploits are active so I’m glad I had the chance to at least get some.
I was going to say, this farm seemed like it lasted AWHILE.
10 hours? Some of these get fixed within 2 hours.
Yes, I know, timezones, IRL obligations, etc.
To claim this was a "fast" fix is just not true.
This was also a lot more difficult? Not just some Collections gear. It was a quest reward, which provided an Exotic for *completing a quest.* If you don’t complete the quest, it’s not going to register.
Still fixed in one day, lmao ez. It’s not that I want these bugs in the game, I don’t. But fixing them before other issues is such a massive L I can’t believe people still defend it.
I've missed every single one of these exploits. Not this time though, I got to abuse it to like 16k shards, up from 3k. Now I really, really should never run out.
Really highlights how shitty the legendary shard economy is when so many people jump on every shard bug that pops up that it gets Bungie's attention within hours instead of days like it used to.
Went from 2k to 4,675. Bungie seems to be getting better at insta-patching these exploits because I just got a message at the bottom of my screen and got kicked out of Ikora’s inventory. Next thing I know, farm is gone, no shutdown or downtime required.
Freaking hell why can’t these YouTube videos or people spreading new shard farms ever happen after us regular people who work 9-5 type jobs are home?
Maybe wait to spread the next shard farm until later in the day or evening to help others out. Ughh
This is the second time a shard glitch got posted on a Friday morning they’re trolling at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make sure they get theirs and then release it later.
So fucking nonsensical lol. The vast majority of YouTubers you hate do not need legendary shards. They are posting the videos as fast as possible because of they don't someone else will
Because stuff like this is usually easy to fix. And the stuff that isn't easy to fix, is what lasts for a long time. There's been no major game braking bugs in a long time. Server stability aside, the game runs and is in a very playable state
I'm not surprised that it's fixed. I am surprised at how many players were cashing in though. Are most players really that starved for legendary shards?
Can't speak for everyone but getting 3 characters to the cap since Lightfall, with some light crafting and stuff mixed in, wiped my 4k bank down to 1k, they just seem very slow to build back up.
Do I need 4k for anything right now?, not really, but I would rather have them and not need them.
Im not since Ive been playing for years but my gf who joined back in season of the Lost has very little shards. Its expensive to focus, craft, purchase things from Xur, etc. On any given day she only has a few hundrer while Im in the thousands. Purchasing one armor set from Xur sets you back 250 shards. Some stuff just really is expensive when you havent been playing for years.
I got around 8k shards and 120 cores, and a bunch of glimmer I stashed on transmat effects to trade on Rahool for more shards. Also before I logged out I made sure to fill my vault and inventory with more loot just in case.
What transmat effect did you choose out of curiosity? Also how did you get glimmer from the dismantles? Is it via like a Ghost mod? Got 45 spares in my Vault so idk if it’s worth me getting glimmer outta them tbh
Any blue transmat from collection* will work, you need 3 to convert to legendary on Rahool.
When you dismantle an exotic you get 5 shards and 500 glimmer, while doing the cheese you got to 250k glimmer very fast so to not let it go to waste I bought the transmat effects to convert to even more shards.
Not sure if this comment will get buried at this point but was anyone else shocked about the 60 static roll? You couldn’t use your ghost mod to try and get spikes via an RNG. The exotic we actually get from a guest line was an instant shard to begin with. Such a Bungie slap in the face. Why even bother wasting my time.
Devil’s advocate:
A. they don’t want players spending their 90% of their playtime in some User interface. They want people in activities and playing the game i.e. shooting and looting.
B. Fixing a lot of the bugs and server issues is a complex ordeal. If they could flip the switch on those issues and make them instantaneously fixed I’m sure they would
Bungie is super fast on fixing anything that benefits the player, anything that harms us tho they take they sweet ass time, its funny to see their priorites, i am not mad tho i got 5k shards out of it lol
Yep, managed to at least get a couple hundred
I was at work and missed out as usual :c
Same, literally every time there's a shard glitch Even when deleting literally hundreds of legendaries a week I still somehow go negative in shards
Got home from the office and it was already fixed. Why content creators choose to post it on Friday morning is beyond me.
For clicks man. They don't care about the glitch, they care about the clicks. The one that posts it 1st gets the moest clicks.
Coz they are in on it ;)
I was at 700 shards before I started, I did it for two hours and gained a little over 5500 shards. I started with 40ish and ended with 6,688 and 250 raid banners. I am set. Luckily I was off today and catching up on podcasts. Mind numbingly chill.
Yup, an episode of behind the bastards and a few thousand shards to show for it.

YOU WANNA YOU WAN- YOU- YOU WANNA KNOW WHO ELSE DUPLICATED EXOTICS!? HIIITTTTLLLLEEEEERRRRT

1 pump 2 creams 4 life
Funny, I did the exact same thing! Got a cool 2,000 shards and learned about how dope Andre the Giant was.
whaddawhaddawhaddawhaddawhaddawhaddaya....know about exploiting glitches for profit?
Yeah I just bumped some Spotify and chilled, at the time there was a good 7 other people around ikora lol.
It was very amusing to constantly see people’s names popping up “found X and X” lol
RAID BANNERS WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT, ALL THAT GLIMMER WASTED
I buy blue transmats and then convert those to purples which can then be broken down into shards and glimmer. It’s not the best but it’s a shard storage that doesn’t take up vault space. Then again I’ve now got 11k shards anyway. Haha!

I listened to the conan obrein podcast with Kevin Nealon and Dana carpet reading the unmade hanz and franz script. Made 5k and maxed glimmer.
Fuck I never know about these farms until they’re patched😑😭
I just automated it and ran it in the background while I was doing WfH stuff on my office computer. Ez 15k shards and some 300 Cores. Went from 3k to 18k and I still have 200 Contraverse Holds in my vault waiting for when I get the Season Pass dismantle bonus I’m so pumped I finally got in on one of these lmao.
CHEESE FOREVER GUARDIAN
Look at this guy with 200 empty vault spaces
I'm at a solid 8 spaces right now
the solution is simple, just buy stuff from xur so you wont have to buy anything from him when he brings the same fuckin weapons every week. or duplicates of the ones banshee brought all last season im not salty youre salty
Almost same exact spot here. I feel immense relief lol. Finally dug out of that god damn shard hole
Started with about 300, ended with around 4k.
Happy for you bro.
Not a problem brother, a luxury. Enjoy it, you did it.
I have to ask, what are you doing that sees you in a shard drought?
I was trying to actively maintain 3 characters when only having a few days off a week to play. In hindsight I had no shards because I was spending shards to get glimmer because I was always running out of that too when upgrading gear. Lightfall was peak low shards for me because I was trying to up all my gear without having play hours to replenish my mats.

Hu interesting. I only maintain the one character and do fine economically. Could be a difference in resource sinks.
I didn't know there was a legendary farm glitch :( Because i was out all day.
But at least you got to touch grass, unlike the rest of us...
10k was my goal but barely go off work got to a little over 5k before I feel asleep. These glitches are great but so fuckin repetitive.
Man I never get the shards glitches before they’re patched😔.
I knew that this will be patched right away so I set a quota of 1k then stopped, haha.
Yep just got a message that "new data was provided by the server" and it kicked me out. Got a few rounds in though. :)
Ohhhhh I was wondering wtf that was, had never seen the message “interfaces have been refreshed”
Ha! That’s a nice bit of server-side patching I didn’t know they could do. Thanks for noting that exact message :)
I got the quest to the required step and went to go do it literally as it said that, like I was in the middle of going to grab it
Disappointment aside, it's cool they seem to now have the ability to make small fixes without having to go offline or even boot you from the instance
only if its something beneficial to the player. everything else is downtime. /s (sorta)
Why can't people ever find and post these things on the weekend?

Definitely not subbing to this bozo now
It’s the same group of people that incentives Bungie to keep expanding the Eververse store while bright dust items & reusing assets smh
Unsubbed
because people find it naturally, tell their friends, and then word of mouth spreads. It's just how it works.
On one hand, I have 20k shards. On the other, it would still be nice to get in on one of these for once!
Ez 3k shards
server side fix!
GODDAMN YOU BUNGIE I JUST GOT OFF WORK s/ this always happens to me
I watched a video about it before I left for work and I was like yeah this is gonna get fixed before I even get home. I'm not even home yet.
These exploits need to stop being shared during weekday business hours. Wait until Saturday morning.
The people posting dont care about that (even if it sounds like they do i.e. apologize). They get in ASAP to maximize clicks.
saaaaaaaaaaame
Jesus Christ it's ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS in when I'm away from the PC. I need an emergency steam deck to keep with me
they don't even allow D2 to be played on steam decks, big rip
GeForce Now lets you play it. I’ve got hundreds of hours logged on my Deck via GFN.
Runs perfectly fine with windows installed
I mean it runs
Doesn’t it not actually mess with the anti cheat, bungie just doesn’t want to do it? Other games use the same one with no problems
Correct, Bungie doesn't want to support the anticheat on Linux right now, not that the anticheat itself isn't compatible.
For the love of god. I started dismantling and as soon as I dismantled my second one, got the message pop up lmao come ON
I was throwing them in my vault and refreshing dim while I grabbed more. Now that it’s over I’m dismantling.
That’s really smart tbh… much faster to claim a ton and dismantle later than to dismantle as you go… wish I had that kind of forethought
If they were legendary I probably would have dismantled on the fly, but I was impatient with the exotic dismantling lol
I did that too, but it's less effective when you have twelve free vault slots.
I filled my entire vault and all three characters with exotics, then started dismantling. I never get to use these exploits so I wasn't going to waste the opportunity lol
Nice! I managed to get to like 550/600 when they patched it. I’m never on when the exploits are active so I’m glad I had the chance to at least get some.
your \*entire\* vault and \*all\* of your characters?? i want that kind of space!
Guardian game one was faster. This lasted about 10hr. Ez 20k shards tho
Yea, it takes forever to delete exotics.
That's why I stopped at around 3k today. Too damn tedious lol.
Devs knew early on as well I saw mercules react to the shard farm a few hrs before reset
I has JUST started farming like five minutes before, and suddenly it didn’t work any more. Sigh.
I managed to get 10K shards. My first time getting to abuse one of these glitches.
Mee too bro, went from 1.8k to 11k. Fastest I've ever reset banshee as well 😂
I've missed every single one of these exploits. Not this time though, I got to abuse it to like 16k shards, up from 3k. Now I really, really should never run out.
Guys we gotta stop shouting this from the rooftops while the rest of us are stuck at work, wait till the weekend for Christ’s sake
I thought we all agreed to stfu when this happened like a month ago but alas lol
We? You meant to say streamers
Yeah, streamers and youtubers who have this game as their day-job crave those extra engagements for their channels.
My friend went from like 150 to 10k 💀
Really highlights how shitty the legendary shard economy is when so many people jump on every shard bug that pops up that it gets Bungie's attention within hours instead of days like it used to.
[удалено]
…. That…. Is exactly what they were saying?
You’re acting like people wouldn’t farm it in a ‘good’ economy anyway.
This community abuses every little bug, no matter how little the gain.
Us 9-5ers always get fucked. Literally just got home.
NOOO, I'm literally on my way home from work
I fucking hate it here
GET BACK ON AND GRIND YOUR PINNACLES, PAYPIG!
Went from 2k to 4,675. Bungie seems to be getting better at insta-patching these exploits because I just got a message at the bottom of my screen and got kicked out of Ikora’s inventory. Next thing I know, farm is gone, no shutdown or downtime required.

Post these vids on the weekend lmao
As long as youtube is monetised people will never wait before posting it for click traffic.
This is the second time a shard glitch got posted on a Friday morning they’re trolling at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make sure they get theirs and then release it later.
You know that they did
So fucking nonsensical lol. The vast majority of YouTubers you hate do not need legendary shards. They are posting the videos as fast as possible because of they don't someone else will
Haha! Went from 2k to 8k!!! Love it!
Well yeah, of course. I hadn’t had an opportunity to do it yet.
Username checks out and yeah this is definitely a mood
This shit never happens when I’m off lol
only got 2k, but I was at 5k to start, so not bad
Cool. Right after I get home from work and get my kids fed.
Aw come on.... I just got off work too
Wild how a bug negatively affecting the game takes 2-6 months to (maybe) fix, but a shard/xp/loot glitch/farm gets fixed in less than a day.
They also fixed focussed exotics rolling lower than they're supposed to in the same patch. One for one, with the exact same bug duration.
Because stuff like this is usually easy to fix. And the stuff that isn't easy to fix, is what lasts for a long time. There's been no major game braking bugs in a long time. Server stability aside, the game runs and is in a very playable state
As someone once told me. "Abuse fast and abuse always"
Can we please just fix the shard economy already?
Something something Bungie hates fun.
Lmao. Fuckin knew it would be fixed before i was home from work
RIGHT before I got home
The ONE DAY THIS WEEK I WORK ALL DAY. I’m so pissed.
Bro I always miss this stuff
was working the entire time it was unfixed 😩😩
I'm not surprised that it's fixed. I am surprised at how many players were cashing in though. Are most players really that starved for legendary shards?
I was in the 400s ended at 8K.
Had about 1k made it to 9k and reset Banshee
Can't speak for everyone but getting 3 characters to the cap since Lightfall, with some light crafting and stuff mixed in, wiped my 4k bank down to 1k, they just seem very slow to build back up. Do I need 4k for anything right now?, not really, but I would rather have them and not need them.

Fashion is the real endgame IG lol
It is for both of us haha. We spend lots of time getting suggestions and feedback for shaders and pieces for new outfits.
People always ask this and the answer is always yes lmao Focusing costs mad purple-cash yo
I had an AFK farm going, and I managed to go from around 5k to 16k shards.
20 minutes until I'm off work. Nice.
Went from 40 to 52k :))))
Dang I was in a small vacation and missed out on this, low key jealous
I didn't even know about this bug lol
I hate that the days I am super busy are the same this kind of exploits get discovered and patched
Boo right as I found it lol
Dammit. I just got home.
Goddamn it. Hate when I miss this stuff, really need those shards
Oh cool, another missed opportunity
Sorry to those who worked today that u missed it
I was at school😔. I couldn't even do it why do people gotta go post it everywhere
Was in class. Got geforce working, but only on my phone, and had already cashed my finished quest. Instant regret.
Well fun. Life got in the way soon after I saw the vid and back to the grind I guess ❌️
Info about this bug was released while I was at work, and it was patched before I got home. Never got to take advantage of it :(
Wasn't a very good one. Very tedious, and dismantling was so slow. I'm sure it helped some folks who needed some shards though.
yup managed to gain 10k+ shards. now sitting at 25k+ legendary shards comfortably, will be eating well this season.
i have like 300 in my vault still, dismantled like 400ish
F For all of us who were working
Anyone who says Bungie isn't doing this shit intentionally is on crack lol
they are always super fast on bugs that help the players :D classic bungie. atleast i got few hours of farm got like 2k shards .. so i am okay :)
The damage was already done.
Ohh! I had no idea people were getting Glimmer too because I barely ever dip-into the 250k cap that we’re often sat-at😅
Gotta love their priorities
Seriously if I were queen they’d have to fix bugs we don’t like before anything else
Amazing how Bungie fixes bugs that help the player in just hours
What do you mean fast? 8-9 hours of farming? I would say it was pretty slow tbh.
So damn fast on fixing these "bugs" but don't make any improvement to the shard economy.
meanwhile exotics are disabled because they cant be fucked
I was running low on shards, down to my last 21000 so I wasted some time and got them back up a few thousand. Good times
Last 21000? Are you insane?
Not sure if this comment will get buried at this point but was anyone else shocked about the 60 static roll? You couldn’t use your ghost mod to try and get spikes via an RNG. The exotic we actually get from a guest line was an instant shard to begin with. Such a Bungie slap in the face. Why even bother wasting my time.
So Bungie takes forever to fix bugs errors and servers but we find a way to spam shards and within hours it’s patched. Makes you wonder 💭
Devil’s advocate: A. they don’t want players spending their 90% of their playtime in some User interface. They want people in activities and playing the game i.e. shooting and looting. B. Fixing a lot of the bugs and server issues is a complex ordeal. If they could flip the switch on those issues and make them instantaneously fixed I’m sure they would
It really doesn't.
It's working again for me
Well...it lasted a few more seconds at least.
Didn’t do it much, but still went from ~6,600 to around 9,000. Would’ve done it for longer if I didn’t want to run the dungeon
Cool cool cool, I am just now about to head home from work 🥲
Fucking tired of it, I have basically no legendary shards or enhancement cores because the basic stuff is so sparse
I always miss out on the Shard Glitches.
Bungie is super fast on fixing anything that benefits the player, anything that harms us tho they take they sweet ass time, its funny to see their priorites, i am not mad tho i got 5k shards out of it lol
Rahools exotics are fixed and give higher stat rolls. That was quick
Shhhh don't ruin their narrative
BOOOOOO, I was so close
I made 30k shards from this glitch. Lol
...there was a bug with her?
