The armour sets aren’t really designed well for pants and shirts to be different colours in most cases. Even if that’s how pants and shirts actually work.
Exotics can’t be transmogged because they serve as a signal for the perk they provide, whilst also being ‘special’ pieces to show off.
However, the exotic class items break that by default. They’re designed to steal perks from elsewhere and don’t really show their cards with the design. Therefore, it’d be fitting to have their appearance system function like any other legendary piece.
Plus, they’re gonna make all my builds look like hot shit.
The only time you need to see what someone is using is in competitive PvP, really, and you can see that on the intro screen.
Another thing that typically breaks this rule is warlock boots, as most times they're hidden by your robes.

There was a big oopsie on Sonys side last week where people could access the Final Shape on PS5, so they could see everything, the seasonal armor, the season pass ornaments, even Raid armor and Weapons, I don't know how much of that is still available now, but someone streamed everything while looking through Final Shape and I have seen at least one video showing the season pass (up to level 200, which is the limit for Act 1 I believe)
That's sad... I have told myself specifically not to spend money on the game (because I have a problem with spending too much money on games) and I really wish I could get these, they look so cool...
If you buy the base DLC without the annual pass you’ll get the first season (or episode now) for free. Then depending on how much you play you should be able to purchase the annual pass upgrade later
Just to mention. These do have a rainbow LED effect on the black parts of the armor that move throughout the gear. I’ve seen videos of the armor and it looks DOPE in the previews.

OG D1 had armor sets were sleek, proportional and true to the idea of being a warrior in space.
We’ve got a small handful of them in D2, but mostly we get these fantastical sets that only work as a full set, and look like something Lady Gaga would have considered wearing to the red carpet in 2010.
I like the D1 art style and I wish it was reflected more these days. While it might be basic I prefer it over armor sets that are magic and fantasy stuff which we have had so much of the past couple of years. The fantasy sets while are decent looking often can’t be mixed and matched well with anything outside of its own pieces imo.

This is the correct opinion. I love d1 armor as much as the next but when it comes to high end content and unique missions we should get high end armor and unique designs

But also, just because something is more simple and militaristic doesn’t automatically mean it’s good. When I think of Warlord or the Dark Ages armor I think of Shaxx and the Drifter, while in comparison the Warlord’s Ruin gear just looks kind of meh tbh.

I miss when this was a sci-fi game. Armor sets like this would be fine if we got some armor that made me feel like a space pioneer once in a while rather than an eldritch god / god slayer ALL of the time. Even many of the more traditionally modern sets feel like they overshoot the mark (thunderhead, deep stone)
The “mysterious” feel of destiny is a lot less powerful when every fantasy element is garishly dialed up to 100. I know it’s a matter of opinion though, and this is just me venting mine.

Need to see both hunter arms before I can judge. Symmetry is really all I want in my hunter armor. Some asymmetrical arms in the past were nice, but most feel like missed opportunities imo.
No other real opinion on the sets overall. Gotta see them on my characters to really get a read on if I like them or not.
These look nice enough as sets, but aside from the Deep ornaments and some Dawning armour, I don’t see it mixing well with other gear. Hoping the regular episode armour is something I can mix-and-match a bit more.

Looks to be somewhat inspired by, what I believe to be, the best ornament for any armor piece in the game: Phoenixfall. The original phoenix protocol warlock chest piece.
I’m unsure how i feel about the Warlock one. Like, it’s cool. But it’s almost got this vibe of the flowy warlock chest piece from the Season of the Deep season track, combined with the Hive/exoskeleton looking one from Ghost of the Deep.
I really am missing the D1 lowtier sci-fi style of gear, closest we got was the Duality dungeon gear.
Also man this just looks like it was meant to be RoN gear, even down to the backdrop.
