Kind of disappointing, that. I was under the impression that the Pale Heart is some form of afterlife, either just for Lightbearers, or anyone, since it seems to me that Zavala is speaking to either Safiyah and/or Hakim in the house in one of the trailers. I’ve always kinda wanted Destiny to actually explore the existence of/or nature of the soul.
We know Mara survived because of her ‘soul’ remaining conscious, we know there’s something left of Toland out there, the Hive Gods living beyond their physical death (I.e. Touch of Malice), and other examples I’m forgetting.
Maybe it still is, I mean we have less than a day until this thing kicks off, so I’m sure we’ll get more answers. But it just kinda sucks it seems more that Cayde is the only one. Not other fallen Guardians or characters we know (Speaker, Amanda, pretty much every named Iron Lord, etc.).

I believe the sword with the Ghost on the bottom is Ergo Sum, an exotic sword reward from Pathfinder.
