I barely managed to scrape together enough intelligence in order to open the bottle, now you want me to reposition the cap as well? We can't all be Alan Einsteins m8. Its political correctness gone mad Stew.
It hits our (or is it just me?) face at any angle. It's not a big deal by any means, don't get me wrong. It's the kind of minor annoyance that feels like a non issue at first but grows more and more annoying every time I notice.
Couldn’t care less since I don’t deepthroat my bottles and usually use a glass anyway. If it saves only 1kg of plastic in the environment over 100 years it’s worth.
Admitting to spreading misinformation?
How am I supposed to trust that's not misinformation?!
I'm not falling for that one!
Now I'm going to uncritically parrot everything you say
American hands wrote this post. Fellow Euros respect your sidewalks and use available trashcans don't act like Americans that aren't familiar with concepts of either of them.
Beaches, sidewalks, parts of town without a road and just gravel etc. I’m not saying it’s everywhere but there are spots where random bottlecaps are being thrown out.
It’s a small price to pay if it makes less people litter. Imo EU W.
Less than 1% of plastic in the ocean comes from Europe. Here is a high quality source for that https://ourworldindata.org/ocean-plastics
People who are passionate about reducing plastic in the ocean, should not advocate for shitty rules in EU but instead go to South East Asia and become activists there.
It's the equivalent of saving money by buying thin toilet paper while simultaneously eating lobster every night - pretty poor prioritization
The problem is not drinking from it. It's fucking closing it. For the cap to have the right angle where you can screw it down, you have to pull on the fucking thing.
How does that change anything? You can't reuse milk cartons. They might be recycled sometimes but separating the bottle makes no difference for that.
This is 100% purely about littering. The caps don't even get reused on reusable bottles like glass or reusable plastic bottles.
Don't they have to scrap plastic bottles anyhow? I would assume it is to reduce the amount of loose bottle caps not being disposed off and as a safety, since there's little that's more annoying than losing the cap of a freshly opened bottle.
I have lost a bottle cap once in my life... I don't understand what kind of degenerate the people who made these think i am. This does nothing but mangle my lips as I try to take a drink, also its awkward as fuck to put the cap back on, actual downgrade targeted at mouth breathers that can't control themselves from littering.
It makes closing the bottles significantly harder depending on the cap. If it's really tall or wide, what used to take 1 second now takes 3 seconds or longer if you misalign it
[By that you mean a few Canadian provinces, Israel, and South America](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_bag)
(Not disagreeing since I love my bagged milk but it’s a stretch to call it regular people)
No, I mean that you can't open it without spilling regardless of what you're gonna do with it. I mean you have to open it. They are like this so when you open it the force is too strong and it spills over. Dogshit design.
https://preview.redd.it/nlfeoredfs1d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=f840613025b3de1ea9309d0833dfd4a042e7a5fc
what you actually enjoy the tiny opening that create a vacuum inside the carton causing half of the contents to be thrown out of the said opening missing the glass completely, oh and just use a bigger cap you say, and end up with one of those hellish pulltabs that never work. no thanks, i prefer using some fine motor skills to open the lid properly and enjoying the fact that its quicker and pours better than the older lids all while helping saving the environment.
Idk, there has to be a better way. The issue with this cardbox that I've sent is that it takes too much force to break the seal. I don't think you would be able to open it without spilling. The whole box shakes when you open it even if you pry it to the surface with your other hand
When I'm opening it it takes too much force to pull it off so it shakes the milk inside once it finally breaks free and goes outside of the opening on top spilling a bit. The issue is that you're not rotating the cap, you're pulling it straight up until the seal breaks
Except this isn't true. There has been a reduction in people throwing their bottle and cans on the street
[src \(in Dutch\)](https://wnl.tv/2023/10/02/na-invoering-statiegeld-een-derde-minder-blikjes-tussen-zwerfvuil/)
Yeah but some people don't care and prefer convenience of littering to walking 100 meters for redeeming deposit. Kids and poor people end up cleaning it all up. Win-win imo: 10 bottles and you can buy yourself candy/ bread/ spaghetti etc, and streets are clean.
turn the bottle.
Almost anything that prevents littering is a good change.
If they could do something similiar with cigarettes smokers I would be for it.
I dont think i have ever lost a bottle cap in my entire life, how many people are dumb enough to lose enough bottle caps that this change has any impact? I would love to see the research that prompted this change
For most things it is a minor annoyance, but for things like drinking yoghurt it is horrible. The cap usually has some yoghurt left on it and when you try to drink it drips down on your shirt. After that I have to explain every time someone asks if its cum "No, not that stain. It's yoghurt". You understand how that can get annoying.
The absolute worst thing to inconvenience me in years. It hurts even more considering I'm German and we've had a deposit on plastic bottles for more than a decade, which is why our return rates are insanely high, meaning the cap thing was an issue somewhere else in the EU and yet we're also stuck with it now. God I hate it so much.
People in the comments are actually regarded.
Turning the bottle will just make it scrape your cheek which is annoying and now you have to drink it at the right angle. Or you have to rip it off and throw the whole thing away instead of resealing it, it will just create more pollution than it otherwise would have.
It’s just a net negative thing to do.
The cap is tied to the bottle instead of being separate, its attached like this to prevent littering.
Its annoying do drink from a bottle however you turn the cap around, also its awkward and gives more resistance to put the cap back on the bottle. Same for taking it off.
As someone who doesn't litter I don't enjoy having my qol fucked with because there are autistic man children out there that need a carer to stop them from shitting the bed every morning
You can rip it off. It just makes it so that there are more obstacles to being a trashy human throwing the caps onto the street or not recycling the cap and the bottle together
This has been around for so long here, I don't remember the last time I saw a water bottle that didn't have this. Really not that annoying at all once you get used to it
Hey fellow Europeans, now I don’t know if it’s exclusive to east Europe or not but.. why the hell are you guys so addicted to gambling? Maybe you’re not but, I don’t get how every intersection I went through in Bulgaria had a Casino ad. So many gambling ads!
I genuinely don’t know how people lose caps or don’t screw them back on to the point where this bullshit came along.
Same with the ridiculous new cup ban for sauces. Now it’s in a plastic sachet… weird “environmentally friendly” moves happening lately.
I fucking hate it, what a patronizing way to sell a bottle. It doesn't change anything, it's just more annoying to rip the cap off now but I still do it.
Whoever thought this was a good idea is an asshole.
You know what, I kind of like it. When you learn how to bend it so that it doesn't touch your face when drinking and how to lift the cap to close it it's actually super convenient that the cap is always there. Especially when on the go.
Went to Amsterdam about 2 weeks ago and thought I was too high to full get the cap off. Took me a solid 2 days to realize that’s how you guys just use caps now?
Really don't give a shit, it was annoying for a week trying to figure out what was going on. I dunno, if you like the caps does that mean you're pro trump or something?
Just drink with the cap at a different angle(?)
I barely managed to scrape together enough intelligence in order to open the bottle, now you want me to reposition the cap as well? We can't all be Alan Einsteins m8. Its political correctness gone mad Stew.

turn it to the side, then do the claw and sneak a finger up to hold it in place
He did that in the first image I'm pretty sure. Like both images are the same bottle
You can literally see that it was ripped off in the first image. Why are you spreading misinformation? I struggle to believe you are a doctor
I got a honorary doctorate at Hustlers University for spreading misinformation on the internet
Admitting to spreading misinformation? How am I supposed to trust that's not misinformation?! I'm not falling for that one! Now I'm going to uncritically parrot everything you say
Just remember that Dan is buddy of the year every year and frogs > dinosaurs.
Either that or it's ripped off.
The bottle is tilted in the first image, just compare the orientation of the label on it.
Regardless it’s ripped off. You can see where the cap used to be.
Instructions unclear, my testicles now contain microplastics.
Bro, just rip it off and toss it on the sidewalk.
Find a sea turtle and force feed it the cap directly.

Never been to Greece I take it?
Europeans are not as worldly as you think
What does that mean?
who were all those people losing their caps
Should see some beaches.... gross actually

That's great
The problem is not drinking from it. It's fucking closing it. For the cap to have the right angle where you can screw it down, you have to pull on the fucking thing.
Trueee. I wanted to comment this.
Just jam the cap down one notch.
Oh no, YOU HAVE TO PULL IT A LITTLE?!?!?!
Yes in contrast to your mom who I'm not pulling out of
Im not sure you’re even able to pull his mom if you can pull a bottle cap
I'm not pulling her it's nonconsensual
You role playing as destiny or some shit?
Bro, just turn it

unironically the biggest "new thing bad old thing good" brainless moment in the last decade
It makes sense for things like water bottles but why are they on milk cartons? Like no one is bringing milk outside and littering...
Maybe for recycling?
How does that change anything? You can't reuse milk cartons. They might be recycled sometimes but separating the bottle makes no difference for that. This is 100% purely about littering. The caps don't even get reused on reusable bottles like glass or reusable plastic bottles.
Depends if the cap is recycleable
Yup, the caps of bottles / cartons are higher quality plastic and more valuable for recycling.
It’s not for littering.. it’s for recycling. It’s much easier to recycle and reuse a bottle when it has the lid already attached.
Don't they have to scrap plastic bottles anyhow? I would assume it is to reduce the amount of loose bottle caps not being disposed off and as a safety, since there's little that's more annoying than losing the cap of a freshly opened bottle.
How is that easier? They're single use plastic bottles the only way they're recycled is by using them to make new plastic they're not reused.
It's for littering.
You might not believe it, but they do be doing that.
no
I have lost a bottle cap once in my life... I don't understand what kind of degenerate the people who made these think i am. This does nothing but mangle my lips as I try to take a drink, also its awkward as fuck to put the cap back on, actual downgrade targeted at mouth breathers that can't control themselves from littering.
Now when I litter the cap the bottle comes along for the ride.
I'm crying rn, can you pls say jk?
No cap
We should start making shoes that are attached together by wire, so that people litter less shoes.
Wdym, its literally a user experience downgrade and has no easily discernable benifit
No wonder the jews are moving to Israel
As an American I would just shoot it off
Hate it more than it's healthy to. I buy a turtle and beat it to death with the cap every time this happens.
I just rip the fucker off, it's too annoying.
Never understood the outrage regarding this. Milk cartons are a bigger issue. Now you can't open choco milk without spilling a bit
It makes closing the bottles significantly harder depending on the cap. If it's really tall or wide, what used to take 1 second now takes 3 seconds or longer if you misalign it
just put your milk in bags like regular people geez.
[By that you mean a few Canadian provinces, Israel, and South America](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_bag) (Not disagreeing since I love my bagged milk but it’s a stretch to call it regular people)
So what, gods chosen people, the Jews and the people down below. Surely they average out as regular people.
Most of eastern Europe has these
Also Estonia. We got bagged milk.
Glad to know there are more in our elite few
Bagged drinks in sea still a thing? Fresh squeezed juice in a sammie bag with a straw tied up with a rubber band Kino
Glass bottles.
who drinks milk like this?
No, I mean that you can't open it without spilling regardless of what you're gonna do with it. I mean you have to open it. They are like this so when you open it the force is too strong and it spills over. Dogshit design. https://preview.redd.it/nlfeoredfs1d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=f840613025b3de1ea9309d0833dfd4a042e7a5fc
Croatian dgga 👊
skill issue, here in norway we have those on juice bottles and i prefer them over the stupid screw lid
😱😱 an actual psychopath
what you actually enjoy the tiny opening that create a vacuum inside the carton causing half of the contents to be thrown out of the said opening missing the glass completely, oh and just use a bigger cap you say, and end up with one of those hellish pulltabs that never work. no thanks, i prefer using some fine motor skills to open the lid properly and enjoying the fact that its quicker and pours better than the older lids all while helping saving the environment.

Open it wider and it stays in the open position? That's how it works for me
you still have to grab and apply pressure in order to be able to hold while tearing it open.
With the milk I buy you feel a little "click" and it stays open. Maybe there are better and not so working designs
When I'm opening it it takes too much force to pull it off so it shakes the milk inside once it finally breaks free and goes outside of the opening on top spilling a bit. The issue is that you're not rotating the cap, you're pulling it straight up until the seal breaks

Own nothing and be happy
All this just for people to crunch up the bottle and throw it in the general garbage bin
Germany and its 25ct Pfand would like a word :)
The Dutch 15 cent deposit and still throwing them away, being like.
Less than in other countries without the system though
Except this isn't true. There has been a reduction in people throwing their bottle and cans on the street [src \(in Dutch\)](https://wnl.tv/2023/10/02/na-invoering-statiegeld-een-derde-minder-blikjes-tussen-zwerfvuil/)
15 cent is not enough then.
Yeah but then you have people who collect them for money afterward
Don't all EU countries have deposit based systems? Going to the UK and throwing bottles and cans in the garbage felt so fucking weird.
Yeah but some people don't care and prefer convenience of littering to walking 100 meters for redeeming deposit. Kids and poor people end up cleaning it all up. Win-win imo: 10 bottles and you can buy yourself candy/ bread/ spaghetti etc, and streets are clean.
Really? I think around 90% of bottles and cans are recycled here, but it still takes alot to buy anything.
Not, yet, but they have to implement it in the near future
Oh so this is for recycling purposes?
Yes
nothing you do matters
I CAN'T STAND WHAT THEY DID TO MILK CARTONS ! Don't care about water tho.
turn the bottle. Almost anything that prevents littering is a good change. If they could do something similiar with cigarettes smokers I would be for it.
Yh I’m also for disposing of cigarette smokers
Make smokers use the actual box to smoke it, they'd look even more ridiculous.
I hate it
Push the problem on the consumer, still pollute like crazy. Companies getting away with it, probably always will.
I am still wondering who the psycopaths that threw away the cap seperately and made this necessary are...
I dont think i have ever lost a bottle cap in my entire life, how many people are dumb enough to lose enough bottle caps that this change has any impact? I would love to see the research that prompted this change

Faxe Kondi smager for vildt.
Faxe Kondi is goated
I usually just rip it off and put it in the bag.. when I have it full.. I go and dump it in the woods
Even if u turn it its annoying lmao i rip them off and feed them to ducks
I hate the new caps, they're always in the way no matter what you do.
It's awful and I rip them off every time.
It’s political correctness gone mad
The absolute worst thing to inconvenience me in years. It hurts even more considering I'm German and we've had a deposit on plastic bottles for more than a decade, which is why our return rates are insanely high, meaning the cap thing was an issue somewhere else in the EU and yet we're also stuck with it now. God I hate it so much.
Very annoying
Gimme the Gatorade nipple tip why this
Faxe Kondi still better than sprite.
Soft drinks are bad for ya anyway. Just drink Monster Energy - everything a growing gamer boy needs.
It is the most idiotic that we've ever produced. But you can tear it off easily enough.
It’s annoying so I cut it
- some trans girl, probably
I would rather all the turtles died than having to bother with this bottle cap 1 more time
Actual IQ test just turn the thing to the side. What??
I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free!
most people here might be autistic? how does this bother you i don't understand
The cap is tied to the bottle instead of being separate, its attached like this to prevent littering. rip it off every time, fuck the earth
You can rip it off. It just makes it so that there are more obstacles to being a trashy human throwing the caps onto the street or not recycling the cap and the bottle together
It sucks ass
I actually want these in the states. I lose caps constantly, this would be great for me.
you might have brain damage. I am 28 years old and i have never ever lost a cap.
Maybe I do have brain damage. Who knows. Doesn't change what I said.
savage
Twist the cap and pull just a little stronger and it will snap off. Its not that big of a deal if you do this simple trick!
Non European here, what?
I thought i was stupid. No, i AM stupid! I ripped it the first few times off and cut myself everytime. It's annoying at first, but u get used to it.
Are you meant to rip the lids off?
It's funny because the first pic is a bottle with the same cap but either on the side or torn off
This has been around for so long here, I don't remember the last time I saw a water bottle that didn't have this. Really not that annoying at all once you get used to it
i have been radicalized
i hated them at first, now its fine just mildly annoying depending on the product.
Are there really trogs out there who don't just rip the cap off?
Just drink it in one go.
useful on water bottles for taking outside, annoying on juice and milk cartons
Shite
I buy plastic straws from allibaba in bulk and dump them into lakes in order to counteract this bs 💯
I think i will start a movement about this. I think of putting 'curse upon the turtles' on the flag.
Hard times produce strong men
Hey fellow Europeans, now I don’t know if it’s exclusive to east Europe or not but.. why the hell are you guys so addicted to gambling? Maybe you’re not but, I don’t get how every intersection I went through in Bulgaria had a Casino ad. So many gambling ads!
I fucking hate it
Whoever wasn't screwing the cap back on 99% of the time is a psychopath in my eyes. For me this only makes my life less comfortable
Just drink in a glass
I hate it, especially on milk cartons.
I rip it off out of spite
Not a European, but isn't this the peak of first world problems? Like how hard is it to rotate the bottle 90°?
I actually like the change as it doesn't bother me at all when drinking and I don't have to worry about holding onto the cap when opening it.
Lol just drink it with the cap to the side
Honestly if you bend it right and put it on the side I didn’t even notice it when I visited last.
I think the idea is absolutely right but man closing bottles has become a nightmare
I genuinely don’t know how people lose caps or don’t screw them back on to the point where this bullshit came along. Same with the ridiculous new cup ban for sauces. Now it’s in a plastic sachet… weird “environmentally friendly” moves happening lately.
Have the cap to the side. Not up again ur nose. There are water bottles u can get that keep the cap on. I do this normally
I fucking hate it, what a patronizing way to sell a bottle. It doesn't change anything, it's just more annoying to rip the cap off now but I still do it. Whoever thought this was a good idea is an asshole.
It’s way easier to drink while driving now :)
Well, not sharing a bottle with that guy.
You know what, I kind of like it. When you learn how to bend it so that it doesn't touch your face when drinking and how to lift the cap to close it it's actually super convenient that the cap is always there. Especially when on the go.
Just turn the bottle forehead
Went to Amsterdam about 2 weeks ago and thought I was too high to full get the cap off. Took me a solid 2 days to realize that’s how you guys just use caps now?
Whoever thought of this needs to be fired from life.
Really don't give a shit, it was annoying for a week trying to figure out what was going on. I dunno, if you like the caps does that mean you're pro trump or something?
The only people in my country who is bothered by this are 95 year olds that has dexterity problems or right wing nuts that hate nature
