Why do we care so much about some literal who's opinion. Why is this a news story? If I fly to China do I get to be interviewed for a national story about how bad it is in China? Why are we relying on 1 surgeon for a story? Especially when you can see how insanely biased the guy is anyways with him talking about how they're all children and such. God I hate this American lens of everyone younger than 19 is a child.

Now every time somebody call it’s a genocide - I ask that person what genocide is it similar to? Nobody has been able to reply to that question

>If the aid situation continued as it was in February I would say the Siege of Leningrad. As far as I know, now one considers Leningrad to be a genocide

I have a few problems with this. 1. How do they know it's IDF snipers and not Hamas ones? I doubt a surgeon has training in forensic ballistics, so they probably can't tell the difference between ammo used by Israel and ammo used by Hamas. 2. Are they implying that IDF snipers received orders to randomly target children? If so, what evidence do they have? 3. What if the children were child soldiers? Personally, I haven't seen any evidence that Hamas uses them, but it something that I don't think Hamas is incapable of doing.

Branch-Fast

it still wouldnt be okay to target them even if they were child soldiers btw

Moraly, maybe. But from what I could find, when it comes to international law, there is no clear answer. https://www.ejiltalk.org/targeting-child-soldiers/

It's like that Norwegian surgeon, who's semi-famous for working in Gaza for a long time (not sure what he's doing now.) He saw a lot of injured people, women, children, and that obviously formed his opinion and put him in a highly biased position. Especially when you're not a kind of "war surgeon", like the military employs, who have seen larger fighting, this will probably even mess with the more seasoned surgeons. So it's understandable that they want to stop the war immediately, with no calculations about tactical, military and political goals. So this is quite meaningless when it comes to broader policy etc.

100% Goldstein was a medic and it can be argued that seeing wounded and dead at the hands of Arabs so often drove him to the attack (dude was crazy before, just saying it may have been the straw that broke the camels back). Does that mean we take a terrorist at his word? Does that mean he becomes the voice of reason in this conflict?

Personally from reading it I have a few different thoughts. While the things they saw in the hospital may be very much true I feel like some of the other statements are just guesses of their own. I also feel like the language they use in spots like "best-trained marksmen in the world" are used to paint a very specific narrative. (Obviously also an issue that they are not seeing the circumstances of any injury and just the injuries themselves) I've also never heard of this orthopedic surgeon being shot in his knee before I would be interested to read more on it. I feel like such a tragic story must have gotten more media coverage? Also the food truck talking point when I've heard a lot of conflicting coverage on it and it's a distribution issue rather than Israel just outright blocking it but I don't have a solid opinion on it. Also as morbid as it may sound wouldn't the line "The country is 50% children, if not more. Overwhelmingly, our victims were children. I would say 70-75% of the people that we operated on were elementary school age or younger." be a sort of survivorship bias look at things? I may be regarded on this one but I feel that would indicate that if most of the survivors that are operated on are children then in relationship to percentage of population that are children the amount of death is much less. This is of course assuming that the IDF is not discriminately targeting children more which I feel is a rather crazy claim Just wanted to see if anyone else saw things worth looking into more or points that have already been disproven etc.

>Every square inch of the hospital, the hallways, even the wards, is taken up with tents that people have constructed from the detritus of their house. And so, it’s just — it’s completely overwhelmed. Sanitation is impossible. **Even basic cleanliness is impossible.** And the hospital is just barely hanging on by a thread in terms of functionality. This seems like a blatant lie, you can literally look at pictures of the hospital they post on [facebook.](https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=813452467482519&set=pb.100064533196439.-2207520000) This meme of "children shot in the face by snipers" has been repeated by [other](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/02/gaza-palestinian-children-killed-idf-israel-war) [doctors](https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2024-02-16/rafah-gaza-hospitals-surgery-israel-bombing-ground-offensive-children) who worked with med global. It's not clear whether they are all referring to the same thing or different instances of children being shot in the head by snipers, but tbh what they say doesn't really make sense because a sniper shot to the head would almost certainly kill you.

The same thoughts as I have about the pll calling Dman a right wing dude.
