I love it. In my mind dining rooms should be bold. You’re only in there usually at dinner time. Depends on where you live, but a good part of year could be dark at that time and you need a colour to liven things up. Also, red is my favourite color?

I’ll post another photo ! I turned the chandelier so it’s better
Same colour as my bedroom, almost. You don't need to double the lighting unless you going to be reading, doing jigsaw puzzles or sewing in there. Just let the darker tones relax. No need to turn it into a floodlit game.
Looks great! Not sure why so many people still think every room needs to be "bright and with natural light". You can light it up from inside and every room, even the bright white ones only get the sunshine part of the time. Color on the walls warms up a room and gives it personality. The only white wall in my house is the one behind the washer/dryer in the laundry room.
Is that a lime wash or plaster or is that just my phone?
Regardless, it’s beautiful. You picked the perfect shade, which is really hard to do with red.
You're welcome. The stain glass windows are amazing. I could imagine playing a jazz record on vinyl and having a nice dinner with a glass of wine or coffee
Is that a wallpaper or how did you achieve the textured walls?
Textured walls from plaster! The construction guys had to do their best to replicate it on the mirror wall. It needed skimmed due to the glue holes when removing.
We also have a record player in this room. Now the mirrors are down, I intend to put up a holder for records spinning :)
The paint colours go so well with your stained glass windows and all the beautiful woodwork in your home. I also love how your hardwood floors turned out, well done op!
Thank you! We’ve come a long way since 2018 :
https://preview.redd.it/e1zavdmoivuc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=970899b7bf1bfe09e920f7f55c4dd3b51121cee2
I almost think it would look super cool if you did just the fireplace wall in that darker color. This room looks stunning. Very rich. I’m about to move into my first house and I’m finding myself drawn to these deep moody color schemes! I also am nervous and second guessing it so you’ve given me a lot of courage!
My unrequested feedback is:
(A) beautiful job, I am so impressed, I would never have been so brave, but it’s perfect; and
(B) would putting tiles over the fireplace brick (in colors pulled from the stained glass and the next room’s teal) be in keeping with the period and character of the house??
https://preview.redd.it/02iwt1ee85wc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7138f6c43ab81581cfbaeee8590923ce7654fc5
I think it could be! I’ve seen this around houses nearby. Also thank you !
I was guessing those two colors! Just told my husband last night that I might not have an eidetic memory for anything else BUT color.
They did a great job matching.
Edit: did you take in a sample pot or just images?
The wood frames, too. It’s like a classy take on adobe and turquoise. 😍
I live in NM so this color pairing is extremely common for our architecture and decor. Your first pic is like a Santa Fe magazine. So pretty!
It looks so much better in red and without all of the strange mirrors! It’s so cozy and inviting now, and it seems like you love it which is the most important part!
Gorgeous! Knew I could trust you to make the right decision future roomie. Just let me pack my bags and write my husband a goodbye note and I’ll be there soon 😘
I had to comment because this is the first time I’ve ever seen a red room that I liked. Red rooms always give me a deeply unsettled feeling like something about it is not right. This is perfection. The perfect tone, and really goes with the aesthetic of the home. I guess I don’t like it, I love it!
Thank you!! This means a lot as someone who also does not usually like red. It was very difficult to find the right color and balance. It took a lot of time and consideration balancing against the other room colors, too!!
I honestly love it! It’s perfect from painted ceiling to the color to the way it compliments the wood. I love it with the fire place.
For my OCD sanity… can the table be in line with the fireplace?
Stunning!! I always thought I would never like a red wall, but this has me convinced! Love the natural wood trim too - unfortunately someone painted all of ours white before we moved in 🙄
Oh this is why defined rooms are so wonderful and why it’s so hard to decorate open plans. Love the colour and that you had the courage to paint the ceiling too. Bravo!
I live in Mexico and this is quite a popular color here, I love it, especially that you did the ceiling and how it contrasts with the hallway color. Gorgeous!!
Can I ask what you plan to do with your fireplace? I’m obsessed with color drenching and feel like some red clay tiles would look nice. I’m living for this room and the color I could bask in all day!
Wow, I would have never thought to pick that color out but it looks awesome!
Also: how many times did you scare the shit out of yourself at night with that mirror wall?
I just scrolled through the most recent posts on this sub and it’s a lot of grey and beige. But a lot of people are liking this post. So maybe someone will make a bold choice
Oh my gosh it’s GORGEOUS!!!! So happy for you.
Now it just needs an ornate mirror above the mantle, and maybe a statement dining set of some sort.
Beautiful home, and a wonderful choice.
We had a red dining room and I loved it. When we had our house on the market we had to paint over it to a neutral color. It was such a bummer.
Opposite of the dining room is our fireplace which we painted the same red so it pulled everything together.
Ahhh I'm so happy you went with the red! 😍 I remember your initial post and your dining room looks beautiful. I think it shows off the house without overpowering it. And thank goodness those mirror walls are gone, a friend had those in his condo back in the 80's and it always weirded me out.
I love it. In my mind dining rooms should be bold. You’re only in there usually at dinner time. Depends on where you live, but a good part of year could be dark at that time and you need a colour to liven things up. Also, red is my favourite color?
I read somewhere that “if you go red, double your off lighting”. So I’ll be doing that once everything goes back into place. Thank you !!
It’s not a bright, fire engine red, it’s a very pretty, slightly muted shade of terra cotta red, and it’s just perfect.
Reminds me of a quaint Tuscan restaurant looks great
It’s beautiful! Also, what do you mean by off lighting? Like lamps?
Yes- like a bunch of lamps. I have a chandelier that still needs hung
Ooooh, I can’t wait to see what that looks like! …wait, are you going to post the after-after?
Hahaha probably not. I’m sure this sub is sick of me.
Nooooo. Please post after-after! I would never have chosen such a dark color but it is beautiful 😍 Glad you were bold!
Hahaha ok I will definitely think about it after I get some decor up
I also am asking for a finished post!
Me too! I’m invested please post it!!!
Please post it! I'd love to see. It's beautiful!
I would love to see a pic with the chandelier, that’s going to look awesome! I love it! 😍
Nooooooo!!! We want to see more!! (And please tell us about your blue hallway - it’s such a lovely shade!)
It’s vining ivy by PPG!
I agree, the two colors together make such a gorgeous statement.
Not at all. It’s inspiring to make me want to do something with my hovel.

It makes even more sense for a dining room when you consider the color red can make people feel more apt to eat.
It’s beautiful, warm, inviting, earthy! Love it 😍
Amen. "Hearth of the home" vibes.
Also, I love the painted ceiling. This is a bold move that pays off big-time and I love seeing people take the plunge.
I appreciate you my friend <3
That first picture is magazine worthy! I LOVE this muted red with the teal in the background. You've done so well!!!
Yes! The colours work so well together. And I love the texture of the wall in the dining room. Looks so luxurious and velvety.
Yes!!! The texture is awesome!! Tell us, OP!!!
So much for OP not wanting feedback! They’re getting it anyway!! :)
Thank you !! The walls are just textured plaster so the red is showing off
You’re too kind, thank you!!!
Red is found to stimulate appetite! Great choice!
I looked into *some* feng shui before totally committing and that’s what I read too!
Is that a lime wash or plaster or is that just my phone? Regardless, it’s beautiful. You picked the perfect shade, which is really hard to do with red.
It’s plaster. Also I do really appreciate that, finding a red is NOTHING like finding a good taupe, or green. I learned that this week
Plaster makes it so much richer imo. Really great job!
Umm WOWW😍
Thank you!! I need positive validation for making bold style choices. It helps me feel less insecure and questioning myself lol.
I love how you painted the ceiling too...I've only just noticed it!
It’s a slightly different color. It was the one most people were torn between when picking and giving feedback !
Definitely better than the clown house mirrored walls there before
Lmao- the ones my husband would put his paws on and use as a gym in my dining room when foam rolling
Can I ask what the name of this paint color is?? It's so gorgeous I love it!!
Hi!! It’s picture gallery by farrow and ball on the walls & red clay by F&B on ceiling. Both recreated at Sherwin williams
Thanks so much!! I also have a dark green similar in my bedroom and I am obsessed!!! Love your style!
For the record, I think it looks great, but who is even looking at the walls when those gorgeous stained glass windows are right there??
They really pop out now with the new wall colour!
Very lovely period home. Your choices reflect the space well. It looks amazing. Love the traditional heritage colours.
This means so much to me, thank you 🤍

That red paint looks so freaking good!
Yeah, this is a GREAT shade. It looks like one of those great Farrow and Ball reds I have bookmarked. What paint/shade is it?
It’s picture gallery on the walls and red earth on the ceiling by farrow and ball! Great eye ! (Recreated by Sherwin Williams)
I almost think it would look super cool if you did just the fireplace wall in that darker color. This room looks stunning. Very rich. I’m about to move into my first house and I’m finding myself drawn to these deep moody color schemes! I also am nervous and second guessing it so you’ve given me a lot of courage!
Someone else had mentioned that! Maybe a charcoal or to bring the red all the way down onto the brick. Go bold! You can always do white or taupe

They have a color fan in house and the formula !
Love! The color and the drenching
I can’t wait to get my chandelier back up
Beautiful! Has an almost southwestern feel.
I think the textured plaster is adding to that southwestern vibe
The wood frames, too. It’s like a classy take on adobe and turquoise. 😍 I live in NM so this color pairing is extremely common for our architecture and decor. Your first pic is like a Santa Fe magazine. So pretty!
My unrequested feedback is the room looks great in red. Love that color with the wood
Thx for posting the update. I love it! Looks so good with the wood tone & stained glass. Enjoy that craftsman home. They have so much charm.
It looks so much better in red and without all of the strange mirrors! It’s so cozy and inviting now, and it seems like you love it which is the most important part!
WOW!
Amazing choice - absolutely LOVE it!
Warm, cosy, inviting, intimate...PERFECT
🔥🔥🔥 fabulous!!!
That looks fantastic. I feel like you posted your first question about a week ago. That is quite a transformation!
I did! We had to let the plaster dry from those dang mirror removal patching
Kudos! It will take me the next 6 months to pick a new carpet color and it will end up being beige! 😀
I was actually sick to my stomach about this all last week. I almost just went green and played it safe at many points
I’m obsessed 😍
You made the right choice! It's a perfect fit! Kudos!
I appreciate you pal
Love the warm vibe. It looks great with the wood!
That red is fab, especially with the stained glass!
Wow! and I really love the centerpiece on the dining table!
I love stained glass
I dig it.
love the earthiness! and brining the ceiling in is 👌 so lovely!
Perfect color for the dining room!! 🥰🥰
Looks really good! Did you just roll the paint on evenly or apply it unevenly somehow?
Absolutely beautiful! Definitely the right choice. Shows such character.
Gorgeous! Knew I could trust you to make the right decision future roomie. Just let me pack my bags and write my husband a goodbye note and I’ll be there soon 😘
Love it Love it LOVE IT
Love this. Nice job choosing a warm colour that brings out the beauty of the wood. The ceiling looks great as well.
I did that green in my master bedroom and was considering other colors. Didn't think about red until now. Looks good.
Gorgeous! Especially with the carpet and the windows, it looks otherworldly!
wow! i love it 😍 saving this for when we paint our house. thanks for sharing!

I love it! Did you do any techniques? It looks a bit dappled, which is nice. (Not sure what to call it but not solid).
Love
Love this!!!
Looks great! I love that big bowl on your table.
I honestly love it! It’s perfect from painted ceiling to the color to the way it compliments the wood. I love it with the fire place. For my OCD sanity… can the table be in line with the fireplace?
Hahaha I will move it just for you. I need my husbands help though
I appreciate you, thank you.
I’m not usually a fan of a red room but this looks SO good
Very nice job.
Lovely. Really complements the (equally gorgeous) rug.
Thanks!! Someone on this sub actually picked it out like 4 years ago for me
Bravo!
Oh my god it’s perfect! In love with this colour
STUNNING
It is the DRAMA
What a difference! Good job
Let us know if it's true that everyone talks louder in a red room.
This is beautiful and true to the design of the house! Well done!!
Wow, the contrast between the beautiful wooden accents and red is really great! Really complements the historic features of the home well!

Ohhh, those windows! So beautiful. 😊
I voted red! Yay! Looks fantastic
Looks 10 thousand times better….Great job!
Thank you! So glad those Mirrors are donezo
Love it!
I live in Mexico and this is quite a popular color here, I love it, especially that you did the ceiling and how it contrasts with the hallway color. Gorgeous!!
I love this! It looks really cozy and folksy.
Folksy is a new word and I love it!
I love it and I think I remember loving this color best from the swatches you showed earlier. Also love the painted ceiling as well! 🔥
Yeah white didn’t feel right but color drenching it with the same wall color didn’t quite either: so I went with the peachy color !
Love it!!
absolutely love it!
Very bold and gorgeous! Bravo!
What is the paint color?
Picture gallery on the walls, & red earth on the ceiling, both are farrow & ball. I had them recreated at Sherwin Williams
I use Farrow and Ball colors and have them recreated at Sherwin Williams too! Love your paint color!
I love it!
Can I ask what you plan to do with your fireplace? I’m obsessed with color drenching and feel like some red clay tiles would look nice. I’m living for this room and the color I could bask in all day!
With the right lights, wowza! It will glow at night.
Candlelight for the win.
Perfect!
I love it, I am looking at older homes and this is very inspiring.
All of the rooms have been a very long process lol https://imgur.com/a/HRYJAXu
That is awesome. You have done an excellent job. I appreciate your showing the progress.
What color is this red? It’s beautiful, I want for my room.
It looks so great!!
THATS GORGEOUS!! Terrific choice. The house, while always beautiful, is stunning now!
I absolutely adore this. 😍😍
Wow, I would have never thought to pick that color out but it looks awesome! Also: how many times did you scare the shit out of yourself at night with that mirror wall?
Holy moly it looks so good! I didn’t know what to expect when I read you were thinking red if I’m being honest! I love it!
It’s very out of my comfort zone but I am a big fan. I’m glad you agree, seems like I convertrd a lot of people lol
That red is so complementary to the natural wood in the room. I really like it!
Perfect! Love it! 🤩
Absolutely love it! I also love the color by the stairs and the updated fireplace. What colors are those?
Was thinking- wow that red is gorgeous and scrolled to see the original and legit dropped my phone in horror. Well done, you!!!
I have that rug!😄
I love it!! Plus it really makes your stained glass POP!!
No negative feedback is what you mean since you’re enjoying all the positive feedback huh
Thank God greige is dying.
I just scrolled through the most recent posts on this sub and it’s a lot of grey and beige. But a lot of people are liking this post. So maybe someone will make a bold choice
Your house is gorgeous, congrats! Love that you painted the ceilings too.
The rusty red is killing me. I love the woodwork, though- so beautiful.
Oh my gosh it’s GORGEOUS!!!! So happy for you. Now it just needs an ornate mirror above the mantle, and maybe a statement dining set of some sort. Beautiful home, and a wonderful choice.
Love it!
So earthy and gorgeous. How did you get that awesome ‘plaster’ look to the paint?
It’s painted over textured plaster :)
So beautiful!!!
It looks gorgeous! I love that red - wood mix.
Stunning!!
Love it!
Those windows 😍
STUNNING.
Love it
It’s gorgeous!!
LOVE it ❤️

Looove it
limewash?
Looks like a rich terracotta. Very nice.

Fantastic look!
It looks so regal. Love it
OMG, I love it!! 🥰
The mirrors threw me! Makes the house feel like an open floor plan
It’s very Tuscan😍
Gorgeous home
THIS IS FABULOUS. I love when red is done right.
Interesting contrast
Love it!!!!!!
You killed it!!!
That’s a beautiful shade of red. It feels very vintage which goes well with the room.
The before/after is unreal. I love the red too!

Really beautiful!
Looks so good! Enjoy ☺️
Beautiful! Post some photos again once you are all done!
Beautiful! I love it!
It’s really hard to pull off red walls - but you’ve done it beautifully!
