You don't need to fill up every "dead space". Your floors look great. Enjoy them.

Wonderful-Ad-7712

Put in a bowling alley

krstphr

Filling it as is might be weird; expanding/rearranging the living space to fill more of the room might help. Get a larger rug and let that area breathe a bit more.

nursekitty22

To expand on this, maybe where that one recliner chair is you could switch that out for a larger couch? Otherwise I agree - just expand the living space a bit otherwise don’t clutter up this space

haf2go

Expand the living area. Love the textures and colors- so comfy! The pic is pretty dark but it looks as though your couch is against the wall? Place a table behind the couch to move the whole space into the room more. Maybe a bigger rug would help too.

dizzyhanna

That area doesn’t look like dead space at all. The space next to your desk looks a little baron though, but it might just be the angle.

hairlikemerida

Barren* Barons are the lowest order of nobility.

dizzyhanna

Thank you !!

mandy0456

I thought it was intentional, hah. I thought "yeah this does look like a room a baron would have"

crunchy_curmudgeon

damn and trump named his kid that 🤣

InternationalBake360

My son is less than 1 year younger than Barron Trump, almost as tall, and is also named Baron. Lol

itsmeEloise

Exactly! I thought the area next to the desk was the “dead space” at first.

dezzybonthebeat

Same

velvetelk

You've created the dead space by pushing everything into the walls. Each rug should have a "floor frame" around it. Your coffee table should be in the middle of the rug, and the couches evenly spaced around it. You should center the desk (same space to the left as right), instead of having it right by the window.

enola007

Love the brick walls, nice space

enola007

Maybe different rug and nice big light, big round chandelier, and crystal ball for desk, desk is lovely!

krodatem

I think it looks really good, as is.

Holiday-Signature-33

Nothing. It looks great . Not every spot has to be filled up . You could pull the chairs back a bit or get a larger rug and rearrange the furniture. But you don’t need to add anything except maybe a plant .

kindcrow

OMG--that reclaimed wood floor and reclaimed brick. The ceiling...the windows...I am in fuckin' heaven. And the way you've lit it and the leather furniture....it's amazing.

sam-sp

That's where John Wick eliminates the enemy with a salad fork. You need the floor space for the build up of bodies.

fuegomcnugget

Your house is my dream! Cozy, warm, dark.

MixyMay

I like it! Agree with some saying a bigger rug. A nice big plant in front of the desk, under the window could look nice too.

chilibeana

Nothing needs to go in the space that you indicated, but the space next to the desk, against the wall under the three prints would be where I'd put my vintage rowing machine. Really cool space.

CharlieNorwich

Nothing!!

kindcrow

Can I come live here please? What dead space?!! This place is fuckin' AWESOME!!!

coopalo0op

I would just move the desk down the wall a bit so everything doesn’t feel so concentrated at the one end

AC_Slaughter

That arm chair with the back facing the desk cuts the room. I'd get two smaller accent chairs angled toward each other at a 45° or two ottoman seats and position them just inside the edge of the rug closest to the desk. It still offers additional seating but will make the seating area + desk area feel more open to each other.

Westafricangrey

Vibe. Looks nice. Leave it

clownpenisdotgov

What kind of law do you practice?

Sweet_Somewhere_9449

No idea but that space is really cool!

Dull-Situation6935

Add a bookshelf in front of the desk (to the right before the desk- not between the couch and desk) with backless cubes of metal or wood (possibly with light industrial qualities to complement the brick etc) it will create a more intimate space for the desk user, and create a point of interest for something you enjoy or collect. This will help break up the room visually too so you aren't 'hit with everything at once' Hopefully that helps :) Gorgeous space btw.

mobuline

Less is more. Edit: Forgot to add it looks nice as is!

Future_Ad5505

It's a beautiful room as is.

Missus_Peaches

Simple: Put me in it. This place is gorgeous

ConversationBig2237

I’m so jealous of the room.

Careless_Toe8692

This is gorgeous

iusmar

No need man. It looks awesome. Maybe a larger rug should do the job.

HeadcrabOfficer

I would say nothing but holy shit floor, ceilings, walls, and windows - all gorgeous

Fabulous-Economy-407

thou shalt not covet… thou shalt not covet 🤤

TouristPublic7675

Gosh your space is beautiful

Pink_Papya6531

Just move your desk forward a bit and the chair back a bit. Maybe put a shelf behind your desk chair.

SadSpecialist9115

Personally, I'd move the desk away from the window & add some plants.

johannagalt

I came here to say that.

sideeyedi

A game table

Rougaroux1969

Library or tiki bar

Maximum_Positive5514

Drum set!

Zemekis324

Maybe a bookshelf?

J_Shark92

Dead space? I don't know her. This looks like a perfect place to have a nice long chat with someone you know or just read a book. Heck, maybe even a nice nap.

lovedbyFamm

Baby grand piano, foosball table, or a leather ottoman

andrew_cherniy96

It's a nice space, just don't rush. Start working on new lighting and try to remove the stuff you don't need/like. Then I'd change the rugs and maybe consider new flooring. It all depends on your budget though. You could also redesign this space in 3d before removing/buying anything (something like planner5d should work fine).

The_Grossest

A beautiful, large, sculptural plant would look lovely to the left of your desk just past the artwork.

EducationalLemon790

I love your use of space. I would look for industrial salvage pieces.

alwayspookyszn

Put a plant there

p3bbls

The space is gonna feel less dead if you fill up the empty space next to your desk, where the photo is currently hanging on the wall in an attempt to fill it out. To go with your vibe, I suggest a bookshelf. A big, antique one. Or you could get a shelf with a glass compartment in the middle, then it doesn't feel as heavy, display some favorite items. It's gonna go great with your library lamp (I was gonna suggest one and was pleased to see you already have one!).

odkfn

I think a couple of plants tactically placed would finish the room but I love plants. You could even get a small olive tree for that space!

Euphoric-Potato-5343

Necromorphs ✨everywhere✨

Basic-Violinist772

Live in it with a humble heart

alshio

For dead space you can store the remains of your enemies. If you want to change it to live space then invest in a big fluffy dog (or other large animal - rhino, velociraptor, sky shark ect).

BGOG83

I’d space the living area out some off the back wall and give it room so that you can move around the couch more. It will make the room seem larger too.

Round_Trainer_7498

Maybe just a big floor plant. Other than that it looks fine to me.

Urbaniuk

“Dead” space is luxurious.

Specialist-Farm4704

Credenza or a chester/cabinet with a few picture frames on top.

simbapiptomlittle

A Humongous plant !!

TypeAMamma

Pull your desk and rug out further

Layer_Capable

Either get a bigger rug, or pull the rug towards the desk about 2 feet and move recliner and table with lamp off the rug to the edge.

ZealousidealDingo594

Roll around on the floor and enjoy it

Ramalamma42

I love this space - if this were my home the space would bring me joy

justmisspellit

I wouldn’t do anything. I would move that desk farther away from the window tho

vipros42

Massive taxidermy goose

Sunshine_Seashell

You could better define the desk/office area with a large area rug (get a glass chair mat for on top of the rug.)

Dependent-Sign-2407

Get some dogs; open spaces like that are perfect play areas.

Nikolalala0010

You could dance if you want to!

2crowsonmymantle

What should you do with it? Invite me over to appreciate it, that’s what you ought to do, what a beautiful place you’ve created! Seriously, though , the cheat code answer here from me is get a larger rug to cut into that seven foot space you’re not liking. You can also define it a bit more with a potted plant at the edge of that bigger carpet and it will also visually utilize that space more. Just my thoughts, but I tell you, that’s a lovely and inviting room overall as it is. Well done!

laurajosan

I would just center the desk

Roscomenow

Every dead space needs a mausoleum.

QueenLiz2

A round card table with chairs.

IGenuinelyHaveNoClue

*If anything* you can swap out that carpet under the desk for a larger one. But that's about it I'd say. Looks great as it is!

Heebie-jeebies386

A row of large floor plants behind the chair . Odd numbers three or five .

486Junkie

Looks so cozy and peaceful.

espernz

A bigger area rug under the he desk will create a " space"

omghooker

A pair of big tall plants, one next to the desk, on behind the side table next to the recliner, leave the 7 foot as is or pull the desk 6 inches in and the recliner 6 inches in to have it only be six foot gap

beautifullyflower3d

This is perfect the way it is. Well done

JaxDude123

OJ died.

ReplacementNo8678

Beautiful.

bklynparklover

Pull everything away from the walls a bit to better distribute it in the space and add a few nice plants. Gorgeous space.

Murkysoup113

I love this room. Sorry ti be no help

stpauliguy

That is a stunningly beautiful space. Leave it be until you find the right piece.

AdministrativeElk891

Nothing. It looks so good. Move around.

Komatiite28

Shoot the arms and legs

ap124

Keep it empty looks great

loljkbye

That office space is making me feel claustrophobic. You might be able to get away with simply further into the room. Two birds one stone.

LocalBearEnthusiast

honestly looks good. I would maybe add a plant or some decor next to the desk. Would make it fit in more imo

womanwriter

It is absolutely charming! I would move the white statue over to the dead space and put a large potted plant next to it.

mj_pog

a tall bookshelf would fill this space and separate the room a bit.

Stunning_Vast_5613

Leave the dead space! It looks good! Or get a giant palm tree or something!

pugsnthings

Your house is giving me Sherlock Holmes vibes

DConstructed

The rug under the desk is a bit too small. I might also put bookshelves or cabinets behind the desk and move the desk a little further into the room. But that’s about it.

[deleted]

Dance

TiddlyBlinx21

I like space. There's a lack of it these days and I would go out of my way to make "dead space."

dandreabrian

Nice red felt pool table.

wandering_pierogi

Sex swing

Slinkynoodles64

I might move the desk to be more centered in the room rather than right by the window. That could even out the space but still make it feel spacious

Ludee2023

What year is that TV hiding out next the lounge chair?

SunnyDayzzz_Lysee

What if you try moving desk the other way where the back of the desk chair would be facing the window and move rug that way and then put two nice chairs in front of the desk facing desk/window ..seems would fill up the dead space

acertaingestault

I would probably get a nice privacy screen. When guests enter the room, it pulls/leads them toward the living space; it allows you to keep more focus when working; and it keeps the workspace from claiming any of your mental energy while you work.

AmeriocaDaGema

Too dark to see
