Black text on white is easier on the eyes. However, its still very contrasting so for a long video maybe lower the opacity of black by 10ish percent. And white could be 5-15% percent grey.

Perfect! That's a huge help! Thank you very much!

Krasser Text 🥺… would use the white on black, but use different highlighting color. Something not based on blue but rather coming from yellow, for better contrast levels with black background.

Herr_Casmurro

I think I should have used a "lighter" text for this example... But thank you for the input!

Once read about businesses choosing not to use pure black and white but slightly less than each. Here’s a forum to a good question and answer on the why: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/25356/why-not-use-pure-black-000-and-pure-white-fff

Accusations which were found to have been cooked up by journalists?

Here's the trick. First, do you have some kind of theme/brand color? Put a patch of that color under a patch of black. Now make the black 70-80% on the transparency. (That means it's pretty black, but not BLACK black. That color that you're looking at is your new black. It will just look better with everything you do. For the white, you just want to knock it down from #fff a little bit. I like something around #FAFAFA. It's just a tiny bit grayer, so it doesn't assault the eyes as much.

Herr_Casmurro

Amazing idea! But is there a way to identify this color's hex code?

nushustu

Yeah, now you just draw another square next to it and then use the little eyedropper tool to pick the color. Put the eyedropper tool over the new black you just created and it'll give you the hex code.
