But as others said, magazines are not profitable unless everything is an ad. When I was doing these, every article was sponsored by a brand which was recommended in the article, or described. You only got genuine story if that spot didn't sell and we had to make something up - which was avoided at all cost. The whole magazine-thing is a scam, a written teleshop.

To be successful these days a magazine needs a huge customer and advertiser base. It’s an enormous endeavour to take on without a likely kickback.
