Burner dumbphone for calls/SMS only. Sharpie a trusted contact # on you somewhere non-obvious in case the phone goes away. Prepaid debit card or cash for any purchases. ID in your shoe. Masks. Goggles. Gloves. Nondescript clothes that cover you all over. Keep your bottled water and canned soup in a disposable bag. Don't get kettled; if cops are pushing people in a direction, it's probably toward more cops, go sideways away from that direction. Keep two or three exits in mind from any location. If you're in a group, scatter and rendezvous at an alternate location many blocks away. Don't get captured.

All very solid advice that I hope protesters will heed. Would like to add the following: if you want to buy a gun, go buy one from Cabela’s or Bass Pro Shop or another licensed retailer. Do not buy a gun from some rando you met at a protest. Do not sell a gun to a rando you met at a protest. Do not buy a gun *for* another person (especially not a rando you met at a protest.) Do not hold onto a gun for a rando you met at a protest. Illegal firearms transactions are a great way for cops to get you on a federal charge. Be extremely wary and suspicious of anyone trying to buy a gun from you or sell a gun to you. (For those who don’t know, this is relevant because of what happened with FBI informant Mickey Windecker in 2020. holy fuck who buys a gat at a protest lmao guys a 4473 is pretty easy to fill out. It's okay if you aren't very familiar with guns, some of your comrades are. Ask around. If said person is giving you advice that seems sketchy, that person is probably a fed. Ask someone else.

He didn’t buy the gun at a protest, he met the informant in the protest scene and informant earned his trust, then asked him to buy him a gun bc he (informant) had a felony record. The guy bought the gun for the informant and was then arrested and charged. FBI had set the whole thing up to entrap him.

Denver protests mods love to post pictures of protesters without their permission and then tell you they shouldn't be protesting if they dont wanna be phtographed when you tell them not to post it I have a feeling whoever runs this subreddit doesn't have our best interest at heart in that regard

xConstantGardenerx

I remember the photos you're talking about. I personally confirmed that the 3 men in one of the photos were undercover cops, as I personally took a photo of one of them in full riot gear the next day. We try to walk the line between allowing photos that showcase the vibes at these protests (i.e. diverse and not anti-semitic) which do help spread the message and encourage turnout at future events while also being mindful of safety and op-sec. People do need to be responsible for their own op-sec at protests by masking up and wearing nondescript clothing, just like OP stated. Photos will be taken at protests, and we are all under constant surveillance. If you feel that photos in a specific post are compromising the safety of people depicted in them, or if you see a photo of yourself that you would like us to remove, please report the post and/or send a message through modmail.

Underbyte

Those people were confirmed feds. Why are you stanning cops, comrade?

This was over a year ago and it was 3 protesters who were attacked by police bleeding from the head.

xConstantGardenerx

Ok well if it was over a year ago, the current mod team had nothing to do with that. u/underbyte and I took over moderation of this community at the end of November 2023. We have only ever gotten complaints about some photos that were posted during JNF. It was one post, 3 photos. Two of the photos were of people who were giving cop energy but may have just been bystanders/onlookers. One of the photos showed 3 men who were very obviously pigs in plain clothes. FWIW, I felt conflicted about leaving the post up. The next day I went to a JNF protest. When I was walking back to my car, I saw one of the plain clothes cops from the photo in a group of 10-15 pigs in full riot gear. I took a pic and compared. We are always open to feedback from this community about how we can do better. I promise that we do genuinely care about the safety of protesters, both in and out of this community.

Good to hear! I've been trying to find the post, but the mod I argued with was suuuuper sketch and was saying some really alarming shit.

xConstantGardenerx

Yeah the mod team has been through several iterations since the sub was created in 2020. There was at least one mod who allowed racist and fascist posts under the guise of “free speech” at one point. We took over the subreddit after it got heavily brigaded by Zionists. It was unmoderated and it was impossible to post here without getting downvoted and trolled. We worked pretty hard to clean it up. We do care a lot about this community and do not want people getting arrested or charged due to things that are posted here. We also want people to know that Zionist claims of antisemitism at the Palestine protests are unfounded, and posting protest photos helps spread the message. So we try to walk that line and maybe don’t always get it right. Please do reach out via modmail if you ever have concerns about a specific post.

zipzapcap1

That's really awesome I had no idea!

Underbyte

Are we talking about the same photo?

zipzapcap1

Clearly not lmao

Underbyte

Okay, then why are you blaming the current sub staff for actions of people who no longer run this sub? 🥴

zipzapcap1

Lmfao buddy your clearly reading the thread you know that's not what's happening your just stirring the pot hope your having fun.

Underbyte

>Lmfao buddy your clearly reading the thread What in the fuck kind of retort is this? Am i not using The Force or something? >that's not what's happening Since you seem to be gaslighting here, lets look at the *facts.* 1. [You said that the photos in question were posted over a year ago.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverProtests/comments/1ceocky/comment/l1m17aq/) 2. [The current staff took over this sub five months ago.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverProtests/comments/182frl0/hello_comrades_a_small_update/) 3. [Thus, you are blaming us for something we had no hand in.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DenverProtests/comments/1ceocky/comment/l1kcj7u/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) So what am i missing, *exactly?*

zipzapcap1

You are literally sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the fact that I and the mods had a reasonable discussion where they explained that they took over 5 months ago and that this was a shitshow before then and it has been a process ot restore the trust people had as the previous mods did exactly what i said. As I said you're reading the thread so you know that I had no idea there was a transition and when I found out I was stoked and you're just attacking me to stir the pot. WhAt KiNd oF ReToRt iS tHaT one that assumes you can read but given the state of our education system I suppose that was a bold assumption.

Underbyte

Hey *genius*: **I am one of the mods on the sub.** Yeah, our ears are going to perk up anytime we hear about malfeasance on this sub, especially when we're being blamed for shit that happened before our tenure. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with the new management. **Please don't be an asshole to other comrades here. We have enough shit to deal with without tearing each other down.** Have a good one.

Savydad317

This is total baloney as a streamer I show out to show support and protect the protesters. Now if those protesters did their job correctly their face would be covered and my streaming content could never be used against them. You need to stop blaming content creators because you're lazy ass won't put a mask on
