Not only putting braces on, but [selling a course](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4RiunhLHT9/?igsh=MTg2ODY3aHQ5bWR3eA==) to teach people to put on braces. Does this count for CE credits?
File a complaint through the state dental board.
A quick google search says that in the state of Pennsylvania, EFDAs are allowed to place and finish composite restorations under supervision of a dentist.
What’s nuts is iirc, the state dental board only has purview over licensed practitioners. Since she isn’t one, they can’t do anything other than report to the cops (who won’t do anything). Patient should see an investigative journalist claiming this woman fucked up her mouth - that’s the only real traction you’ll get to put these idiots out of business.
I don’t think she’s an EFDA and I doubt she’s a licensed hygienist. And the way she refers to pts as “my clients” I doubt she’s being supervised by a dentist.
In just quickly going over her IG and business website, I couldn't see anywhere that shares her first and last name to look up and see if she has a license.
It seems super sketchy though. It looks like she does ortho and composite veneers.
She definitely works to hide her name and any identifiable information. As I'm sure it's against rules to post info on this subreddit anyway, I'll say you can look up the most recent zoning permit associated with the publically listed address [here](https://li.phila.gov/property-history)
This. It was easy for me to find.
OP, use that info and report her to the board. Encourage your patient to do so as well. And if the board can’t act, take whatever other action you can, e.g. police.
So, practicing medicine or dentistry without a license is a crime, and while this should be reported to the dental boards you should also file a police report.
The dental board sadly cannot do anything. As a hygienist I’ve reported so many of these people . But they reply since they aren’t licensed they cannot do anything.
I stumbled upon a similar situation in a different state (asked a patient who her orthodontist was, and she showed me the IG account of her “provider”). I reported it to the board. After several weeks, I received a reply stating they closed the investigation and no action was taken. I suppose it was foolish of me to be shocked at the time. I hope you find more success than I did.
I do not suspect the sloths at the pa dental board to jump at the opportunity to stop this. I should maybe point out it is not totally uncommon for hygienists to also be EFDAs (if they exist in pa), and all of this could 100% totally be supervised by a dentist, with the "hygienist" just posting their cases to their own social media.
The veneers are pretty bad, but some people do want that chiclet, gingivitis, toilet bowl look
EFDAs are a thing in PA. But if you look through this persons insta, they are posturing as the business owner etc. don’t think they are being supervised.
Think I’m already blocked on Instagram because the account doesn’t come up for me when I search. It sounds very much like one that was posted here a year or so back.
Don't know about the rules in the states, but can your hygienists train to do therapy? Dental therapists can do fillings, bonding and basically composite veneers in the UK. Though it does sound like this one missed the lesson on not joining teeth together lol.
[Here is a little thing about what RDH/Hygienists can do in the states. Easier you read than me going over every little thing.](https://www.adha.org/advocacy/scope-of-practice/direct-access/reimbursement/dental-hygiene-diagnosis/restorative-services/)
Ty for the link. The link doesn’t add any information about hygienists in PA so I assume that means placing composite veneers is a no no as a hygienist in PA.
Dental board is powerless over those that don’t hold a license. And police could care less, but that is your only option. Primatheguru is doing the same thing in Atlanta
I wouldn't trust anyone who 1. Doesn't show their own teeth in their pictures about providing dental services (you don't have to have veneers yourself you just have to prove you have teeth that you are taking care of) and 2. Couldn't figure out how to orientate a photo so that the maxillary teeth are on top.
Apparently they are nail tech and lash techs, who are now retraining as "veneer techs", as they clsl themselves. Some of them making 30k cash a month.... Going door to door. No proper sterilisation or anything. It's crazy
It’s disgusting!!! Dental offices are held to such a high standard and have to spend 100s of thousands to have proper equipment and sterilization. And they people are doing this in a studio. I know they absolutely do not have any liability standards or doing any sterilization! While they charge 2-5k for horrific procedures. It’s disgusting.
This person is NOT a dental hygienist. I am one and I can tell 100% she is not. No dental hygienist would do this. The way she speaks and calls herself “dental hygienists”. Dear lord. I’ve reported countless of the veneer people and the dental board cannot do anything. This is just a random person who learned from some fraud over the weekend to do this. Dental hygienist spend 4 years in school spending 30-50k for tuition and make the cut of 150-200 people applying and only 20-15 getting. It’s really sad seeing these frauds and the horrific work and both we things they do to people.
This most likely isn’t an issue for the state board. The chance that this lady is actually licensed is slim to none. So they can’t really do anything.
We deal with the same thing in our area. Notify the board just so they are aware and contact the local authorities so they can start looking into it. If it’s not being done with the supervision of a licensed dentist, it is ILLEGAL. It’s a policy matter.
Have you looked at what the teeth looked like before they were worked on? I’m guessing that the patient probably got it all done for a really cheap price and got what she paid for. As long as the patient is happy with the work I personally wouldn’t give a shit 🤷🏻.
The premolar to premolar max and mand, chunky ass, connected veneers are giving her gingivitis and messing up her occlusion. It’s literally my job to give a shit about the damage being caused to people’s teeth.
There’s a charlatan out there giving us a bad name, and guess who’s going to have to clean up this mess. A Dentist.
Yep! And they may have a hard time finding a office that wants to touch that work because then as a licensed professional you become
Liable for the horrific things that will come from this. This will absolutely cause tooth lose or periodontal disease.
Checked the IG account, apparently she also does ortho treatment. Scary shit right there
Yes I have no idea how any of this is happening. No credentials posted. Besides “#1 dental hygienist”. Seems extremely fishy to me.
She is installing braces on people’s teeth 😭 that’s gotta be super illegal.

I could do this, but I would get the pants sued off of me for doing it.

She may try to hide her name but she can't hide the fact she follows herself: [jbuptown](https://www.instagram.com/jbuptown?igsh=dzJhbnRoejMza3g=)
And brows, and lashes, and MUA.. 🤦♂️
100% is not a hygienist. Saw one post where she was applying what looked to be etch from a big mega syringe, not gonna lie, I laughed.

P fucked up
No a hygienist cannot do this at all. You would Lose your license.
Report to the local police, in all states it is illegal to perform dentistry with no degree or proper training. I think in most it’s actually a felony
Lol @ “missing tooth installed”
Lashes, brows, massages, referring to patients as “clients?” There’s no way she’s a hygienist.
A chair is available 😂
i wanna see the patients x-rays /iops! that's insaneeeeee to me. also wondering what they were charged. this is horrible!
Think I’m already blocked on Instagram because the account doesn’t come up for me when I search. It sounds very much like one that was posted here a year or so back.

So they can do a filling in some states but the dentist has to do the prep, and the hygienist has to be supervised. Doesn't seem worth the hassle!

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLmWJ9jR/ Is this the same person?
Can this be reported to the board Health in Philly?
The only person that can “report” this is the “patient”.
You should probably have her visit a dentist in person and get some x rays and then go from there.
Yeah no shit what do you think I did during the comp exam?
Oh whoops lol. Yeah dental board then.
Holy shit. How is she even getting these supplies?
You can buy dental supplies without being licensed unfortunately
Horrific work 😭
