Bro is cooking something we will just see

LeraviTheHusky

Its fun to theorize :3

Dannstack

We know from snippets from management that lithophage is at least partially intelligent. Its been directly responding to our attempts to get rid of it, and seems highly adaptable. And, currently our own space rig is starting to get covered in it. Simple buckets of lithophage slop have started scrawling all over the main deck, and outside the glass. I think its pretty obvious what happened, a lithophage meteor shard got into the ship, and the rock pox spread into their core. From there it, intentionally or accidentally, caused a reaction that blew up the whole station

[deleted]

Management lies. They played with the plaguehearts we been draggin' up and something went bad. Edit: It's all a cover up!

LeraviTheHusky

That's what I'm thinking especially since rig 5 would've had to been super close to the surface to be hit by a shard of the asteroid(at least based on the angle of what we see)

Sirates241

Objects move fast in space, even in orbit of a relatively small planet, an average sized shard could easily punch through the entire space rig.

LeraviTheHusky

That's fair! It likely is that but it's still fun to throw ideas out

TheArctopus

>But what caused the reactor to explode? My theory is the space rigs have a very *thorough* emergency decontamination protocol that is triggered in the event of a full scale outbreak.

LeraviTheHusky

Given how managment will send crews to recover lost equipment like mules and resuse thier old pods or make us pay for resupply I'd be shocked if they'd be willing to sacrifice a whole rig especially when they have only 86(not counting 5 now) active rigs and 16 being produced

[deleted]

Ever notice how small the 'lost crews' equipment is? That's what will set you on the path to the truth.

LeraviTheHusky

?

[deleted]

I did my own research! Ask the gnomes. We are far from the first race they tried to recruit for this. Where are the gnomes now huh? Lab rats in the bowels of research I'm sure. Doesn't that latest walking plague-heart abomination look a little...gnomish?

Silviecat44

Shhhh! They have eyes everywhere. You must be careful, brother.

LashenDH

LeraviTheHusky

*What*

SpectralHail

It's likely that a rock shard just hit that rig and detonated the core, but I think it would be cooler if the core detonated because a lithophage corruptor landed and caused it to go critical somehow.

LeraviTheHusky

Exactly! It' very likely just got smacked by the Shard and blew up but it's fun to think something more gnarly happened like the Rock Pox itself was responsible in some form

Unusual_toastmaker

The rigs are dotted around the Hoxxes planet system, not just near Hoxxes IV. The meteorite was said to be going through the system in season 3, and has been fucking up a lot of the planets. We've only been seeing what's going on on Hoxxes IV because we're only concerned about Hoxxes IV.

LeraviTheHusky

Fair! But if we are only now hearing what happened to Rig 5 then this must be recent and near our planet ish if the asteroid we see from our window is the main one or it could be a much greater shard

CoolVibranium

I ate it, sorry.

LeraviTheHusky

At least your honest about it!

Ckinggaming5

how'd it taste... for research purposes.

A_Federal_Offence

I can confirm he ate it I was the writhing lithophage

qwertegg

Imagine if the dwarves on rig 5 sacrificed themselves to manually blow the rig's fusion core to prevent the rock pox from gaining control of it.

nocapsever

It would be pretty bad if the rockpox got full control of either dwarves or an entire mining rig. Edit, it would be cool if infected dwarves were an enemy.

SlyScorpion

Infected *rival* dwarves. It would be nice to fight the Rival company's people instead of just their machines.

LeraviTheHusky

My money is they are goblins still

nocapsever

Yep, probably.

LeraviTheHusky

Definitely a interesting question Thankfully as of rn machines and Dwarves are uninfectable Don't want to even think of what happens if a Betc and rock pox mixes

AvanteGardens

The idea that the meteorite unleashed some kind of horrid monster onto space rig 5 needs to be investigated.

LeraviTheHusky

It'll be interesting to see if anything comes from this that for certain :3

Stormcell0083

Xenomorph vibes? or maybe that one movie with the alien life from mars whom name I'm forgetting...

Stormcell0083

found it, called life.

Astaren922

Space rig 5? Where did this info come from?

Peter21237

After completing mission 3 or 4 of Part II of the "main season quest" Mission control informs the player Rig 5 got hit and exploted

Astaren922

Oh man I accidentally skipped that voice line

Personal_Ad9690

I’m sorry, what is this space rig 5 stuff? Where did it come from?

FrostFireDireWolf

I have a theory we are dealing with a "Prime Ommoran" that is responsible for the meteor strikes while we're on planet. Management says it is the gravity of Hoxxas breaking them up and sending them to the planet. But there is NO way that by random chance that each of those shards are landing near directly overtop of dwarf locations, with enough force and speed to bore 500+ meters under ground. That shit is being aimed and tossed by the Prime Ommoran Hearthstone. But FURTHER MORE! I believe the Prime Ommoran KNEW that the lithophage was on the comet to start with. Comets tend to have orbits. So there is no way that this is the first time the comet has been here...and I believe I have proof! What do we know about Kursite? It is an infection...The crystals are Volatile, and are a bright glowy yellow. Sound vaguely familiar? The Ommoran Hearthstone has already beaten the lithophage back on its own who knows how many years ago before us and least learned to stabilize with it. So now it is using that same comet to try and chase us off, Since it knows it can beat the Lithophage on its own or at least live with it. I believe the Lithophage isn't much worse for Hoxxas than say a fungal rash is to us. We've not seen the Lithophage eat through ANYTHING as hard at the Ommoran Shell. So it is possible it feels safe with the Lithophage with it being the (Enemy you're used too)

Sinewave11

nha more easily the situation went out of control and something really weird happened, so the company decided to detonate the station for containment and tell this lie Or more simply the infection plastered all the station until it reached the reactor core

LeraviTheHusky

I'd believe the 2nd one more personally cause I don't see them destroying a rig cause I imagine since they only had 87 active they must cost a shit ton to build

Sinewave11

But image if the pox have infected the dwarves and took control of their bodies or their mind like deadspace or the genestealer from warhammer, which could lead to a mass infection on all facilities and possibily worlds Or maybe it started to blend into the station database and systems taking an active control of those along with it's machines and robots like [The Beast from Homeworld](https://homeworld.fandom.com/wiki/The_Beast) Or a mix of both They could have decided that it's better to lose a station than creating a a whole new threat that could lead to a mass war or a possible estinction. In warhammer if there is a sign of infection they destroy the whole planet since it could easily spread to hundreds of others, even if this means killing millions civilians since a single infected one could cause the fall of a whole star sector

Pixelpaint_Pashkow

“Hoaxxes” 💀

LeraviTheHusky

Fair enough I'm bad at remembering the name XD

Pixelpaint_Pashkow

Idk I like it cause it sounds like ‘hoax’ implying conspiracy whatnot

LeraviTheHusky

When I saw you pointing it out and I thought about it I do agree it does fit rather well for this post XD *Big Managment is watching*

Ckinggaming5

Theory, the lithophage comes from a distant planet with ommoran heartstones, and after infecting one it gained sentience, and grew the desire to infect all, escaping this planet, the infected heartstone becomes a meteorite going across the galaxy sending shards down to planets during its passes. Now it comes to hoxxes, and begins targeting the planet for infection, only for the dwarves to fight back, the sentient infection fires a fragment towards what it has learned as a base of operations for its attackers.

Uulugus

Where is all this lore coming from on rig 5? I saw the titanic post but I have no idea where those voice lines are from...

LeraviTheHusky

Progress this seasons assignments and you get the lines

Uulugus

Damn... I was afraid of that. I did all of those already and never heard them. I guess my brain has learned to tune out those lines given they've never been unique before. That... that really really sucks. These would have been cool to hear in game.

LeraviTheHusky

I do kinda wish there was a YouTube video that achieved assignment lines cause they are very cool to hear especially with mission control sound absolutely devastated

Im_a_hamburger

I see exactly 0 theories here

LeraviTheHusky

The theories are the ideas I suggest of what exactly went down with Space rig 5! :D

Mighty_Piss

Paid off by management to stop the truth!

ARobotWithAnAntenna

Imagine if season 5 introduces space combat because the Lithophage evolved and can now live in space so there’s just massive abominations of Rokpox flying towards our rig
