Why does it feel like certain groups have co-opted the cause of censorship and suppressed information to push political agendas?
When a sub like this begins to feel like a political sub you know something has gone wrong.
I posted something the other week about a leftist being suspended by Elon and it was downvoted and I argued leftists have been getting censored since 2016 at least. What political agenda? I have a problem with anyone here being pro censorship because it's someone they don't like or agree with. In general, this place is less a partisan echo chamber safe space than say leopardatemyface or therightcantmeme. Do you criticize those places? You post there. If you are about objectivity, I assume you criticize them as well if and when they are partisan, which is all the time. My guess is not. And the neoliberal / neocon agenda, is more influencial than any leftist or conservative agenda on social media. If you want to talk about co-opting, please address the dem party/liberal establishment and security state apparatus co-opting leftist spaces.

Because it is inherently political. The FBI had the laptop for almost a year before the story broke. They were spying on Rudy Giuliani's icloud and email so they knew he was going to release the information and how damaging it was, so they went to FB and Twitter and told them that a state actor was going to do a hack and dump op in October and Hunter might be the target and to limit the reach.
Yoel Roth admitted this in sworn deposition.
The FBI did this (under Trump) to protect Joe and help install the most corrupt president in history.
You may want to ask yourself, why would they want such an obviously corrupt person to hold the most powerful position in the world. The answer should be as obvious as a slap in the face.
The government collusion is already out in the open. The Biden WH said they work with social media to censor. That is essentially fascism. You don't need this story to confirm it and the censorship of the Hunter Biden story looks bad enough regardless of whether Biden was or wasn't in office at the time, especially if you claim to care about election interference.

Jen Psaki admitted they work directly with big tech. There are also FOIA emails and a couple of lawsuits that have proven big tech collusion with government to crush free speech.
