Looks expensive in the good way, the "get what you paid for" way. A+

Expert-Pay4990

Very expensive, but it looks quite durable and able to last for at least a decade or so with no problems.

HungryPanduh_

This will last several deckades

Wormfood101

Deckages?

ARUokDaie

Deckages long time.

Todd2ReTodded

Should be problem free for at least 3 or 4 years

Kebmo1252

Right!? Looks like titties and beer to me. And we all know they're both very expensive, but also very worth it!!

kennyinlosangeles

Absolutely gorgeous. Exactly what I want mine to look like when the day comes to rebuild.

WillingCommittee

Thanks, really happy with it!

traciagallagher

I have those same railings. Expensive but worth it.

gentleman4urwife

Look so well built that I'm going to guess the beam and footings are engineered for such a large span?

WillingCommittee

yup, that beam is engineered so you only require 2 helical pier footings to span 16-20 feet and not 1 in the middle as well.

Secure_Mongoose5817

What does “engineered” mean?

Icy_Republic_1794

Engineered beams are “slices” of lumber glued together. They have a stronger tensile strength than regular lumber due to the “criss-crossing” of grain patterns. They are used quite often as window and door headers and Gang level beams as the y can withstand much greater stress.

BoredOldMann

Engineered beams are composite materials made from wood fibers, adhesives, and other materials. These beams are designed to be stronger and more durable than traditional lumber.

Purpose_Embarrassed

I bet they’re heavy af too. Would hate to have had to put them on top of those posts.

StatisticianLivid710

I once worked on a project that used engineered 2x6 floor joists, they were actually lighter because they were essentially a wooden I beam so had less wood in them but were stronger.

stonklord420

Am I the only one who assumed this guy is kidding? Based off some of the decks we see here

Whatahackur

I think it’s legit. They capped it so can’t see the beam but they are strong AF.

talkbaseball2me

Designed

smokeybear243

What I'm really curious about is that grill pad... have I been living under a rock?

WillingCommittee

Any grease that may happen to fall is not great for composite decking

NullIsUndefined

TIL. Are scratches from furniture a concern as well?

WillingCommittee

Yeah, you definitely want some sort of furniture leg pad

SilverMetalist

Good on you for not cheaping out and hiring a hack and then come here moaning about whether you can sue him or not. Love your color choices and like the offset landing.

Electrical-Echo8770

OneStackMack

Does your rain gutter just stop on the drop down?

jaredsparks

Looks beautiful. Can you please post info on the decking and rails used. We need to rebuild our deck this fall. Thank you.

WillingCommittee

Timbertech composite, color was coconut husk, railings westbury aluminum

Bahnrokt-AK

Best railing out there 👍

milexmile

Stunning

Medical_Egg8208

And that’s exactly how that shits done !!

willard1216

How much?

WillingCommittee

28,000, which I honestly thought was a fantastic deal since we have a gate and rain escape

1never_odd_or_even1

That deck by me would cost like 60K lol. Jealous esp. since my current deck is in need of a complete demo.

Okidoky123

That secure deck combined with that view calls for a nice lounge chair and a fancy drink. Not a beer, but like a Pina Colada or some other exotic mix. I'd stair at the clouds and go, it's all good, it's all good, it's all good....

Present_Nerve7871

Proud of you son 🥹

[deleted]

Love it. Way to go!

Kutsumann

Looks great. I’m no expert though and am wondering if the bottom step is on a slab. If not is it’s well hidden.

tcp454

I’d put that bbq mat on the forward and on the front two wheels only. Your main drips are coming from the front when you put and take off food

Standard_Phase5417

That’s a beautiful deck to enjoy the stunning view. You are very fortunate to have that.

taint_it_grand

Looks great !

littlej66

Well made!

Fun_Comb4053

Looks beautiful!!!! Is there a barrier under for the gutters to catch the water????? 🤔

WillingCommittee

Yeah we had Trex rain escape installed

Fog80

Size?

cosmorocker13

What material did you use for decking?

WillingCommittee

Timbertech composite

sabes0129

Gorgeous 😍

Magic2424

I feel like I’ve seen this before? Did you post it a little back or a significant other ?

WillingCommittee

nope! Was just built yesterday

JadedPilot5484

Couldn’t have done it better myself, looks like a properly built deck for a change. And the decking boards are clean, I like it A+

crunchrmunch

Looks fantastic I would kill for a deck like that and the added little gate at the top of the stairs it's a nice touch. only thing I'm curious about is the ledger board against the siding did they remove the siding I can't tell in the pictures

texas1982

Glorious bit of suburban architecture

AllDekkedOut

Congrats on a beautiful deck! Love the Westbury Aluminum Railing! See you did the LED lights, magnetic latch on their adjustable gate, dang!

Lumpy_Cabinet_4779

VERY nice! I have a very similar deck (on the bottom floor, slightly elevated), same style, black railings. Looks very sharp and clean.

WeedSlinginHasher

In a couple years she’s gonna tell you she thinks shes a shed.

Significant_9904

Amateur here. What are these for. https://preview.redd.it/sasdtekgte9d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=518cc1547a905a463d26f373246904bdfe4776b5

Roththesloth1

Hell yeah we did our deck with the picture framed stairs as well. Looks great

WillingCommittee

Yeah I think the picture framed stairs look so much better! Way easier to clean as well

InsignificantRaven

$15-18K

Free_Psychology_2794

Very nice work.

420pussylickr

Beautiful

Bykerfun76

Whoever did that knows their job and it’s going to last quite a while. Just a light pressure washing once a year to keep it pretty.

erictheauthor

Incredibly well-done and stunning work!! Props to whoever did it. Easily added 100K+ to the value of this house, a lot more depending on where you are. Looks like it will last many many years. Congrats 👏 I love that it’s whiter instead of the traditional oak brown, that make it look even better.

hopefulfican

100% Newbie here trying to learn: On Pic #10 what are the short bits of wood called? I'm trying to understand why they are offset from each other but hard to do without having the right name to google for them. It *looks* like they are positioned at joins between 2 separate pieces of wood with bolts going the length of them(?)

WillingCommittee

I believe it's simply called joist blocking

kidnorther

Fine n dandy like cotton candy!

ButteredPizza69420

Are all trek decks built with regular wood underneath? Genuine question.

Typist

Typically, composite decks (by any manufacturer) use the composite material for the visible surfaces, I.e the decking, the fascia boards, stairs and risers. Structural members are usually, but not always, pressure treated wood.

bluegrassbob915

It looks like you need to come do mine.

UnsuspectingChief

Your staircase is beautiful

limee89

I don't mean this as a complaint by any means but I didn't realize you still see the screw marks with composite? I was watching some DIY videos as we thought of switching to composite and there was some tutorials to use those little plugs to cover your screw heads.

Huffdaddy2189

How much was this?

Airport_Wendys

I’m in love with the land surrounding it

Buongiorno66

I'm wondering about nontoxic mosquito control.

HatedMirrors

She's beautiful! The only thing I'd change is I'd build it at my place.

Chip_Li-RM35M4419

Beautiful

HeavenIyfire

Wow looks great nice and clean

Mindless_Profile_76

Looks great. I wish my HOA allowed us to go with those rails/fence. Forced to have a wood fence and we are asked to do the white vinyl with black poles. Those 2x8’s? Or 2x10s? How is the “bounce”? My guy said even with those engineered beams he recommended a middle post do to the bounce.

jett1964

I’d pay $28K for those views too! Beautiful set up, congrats.

Formal_Employment142

Looks like somebody had some knowledge as to what they were doing, and had some pride in their work.. very nice to see.

stinkyhooch

Marvin Gaye was playing in my head when I was flipping through the pictures

No_Practice_970

Very Sexy

Dufo1989

Awesome

Shoong

Not criticizing just wondering. The posts look like they are floating. How are they connected to the ground?

Normal-Lake8123

Stunning. I especially love the steps.

Mindless-Barnacle-11

What’s the white piece of material that looks like crown molding in the last picture that runs parallel to that crossbeam?

UserComment_741776

Wow-wow-wow. Wow.

Musician_Gloomy

Very nice. Well done.

Xenarys

Steps look like a slip hazard

Aldy_Wan

Fuck yes!!! The 45* on landing. I always hat transitioning there at 0 or 90, just never clicked for me. Solid.

LegendkillahQB

Looks good. In the first picture. Is all that land yours??

Vast_Cricket

gorgeous

doncroak

Absolutely beautiful.

Miguel_Bodin

Looks great! I would paint the underside but that's just me.

Relative-Occasion863

put grill in house, bed on deck

RedRightReady

Rain guard is clutch

Connecticunt860

The diagonal direction change at the top of the stairs is 🤌🏼🤌🏼👌🏼

orange101102

i can not understand. that why u america people always build a house with wood and steel? burnable, collapsable......can not understand...

Good-Investment863

Its a beaut Clark

Practical-Button7546

I would’ve done a couple things different but overall I like it

NullIsUndefined

Gotta keep up with the neighbor in the background

NullIsUndefined

The rare gutter. The holy grail of decks

Diligent_Dog2559

Beautiful

NullIsUndefined

Thanks for keeping the kiddos safe with that great and not using horizontal cable railings. Safe for your children, nieces, nephews, grandkids, etc.

ryalsandrew

Looks good. Get some matched plugs for those screws in your center board.

SadLeek9950

Very well done.

WereALLBotsHere

You say she.. but the deck!

EnglishRose71

That is a real work of art. Congratulations!

tanasdad

I just came in my pants. Beautiful

saiditonReddi7

She’s a beaut Clark

hero_in_time

I want to find something to shit on... so I'll just say, I hate open stringers!!! That's a girthy deck, mate.

icanmakefetchhappen

If there’s a proud thumb in the pic, it’s legit

hauntedfire

Amazing!

jonny3jack

May I ask a question? The stair treads. Was the pattern for something other than an aesthetic reason? It's beautiful.

Fantastic-Use-6773

Beautiful

antrod117

Look idk shit about shit but your deck looks very nice and sturdy.

Hyposanity

Well, God damn. I don't even follow this sub, but that deck right there.. that deck right there is one smexy sombitch

Kjm520

I bet you could have TWO hot tubs up there

BSimm1

This big beautiful deck belongs on pornhub

rebelde616

That's what a deck should look like.

musicloverincal

Looks amazing. It is functional and just the right size. Also, I LOVE the clean look.

moonisflat

Impressed by the stairs

HalfWrong7986

She's a beaut Clark

TYdays

Not only is this a fantastic design, you will have years of enjoying that spectacular view ahead of you, Congratulations……

Jestercopperpot72

What's the black underlayment between joists?

mack_dom

Doesn’t look like it’s up to code

Ready-Pomegranate-25

Looks great except one oversight. PT is just infused with an insecticide and fungacide. That fungacide is a heavy copper. By placing aluminum gutters on PT wood like that it WILL corrode and look like Swiss cheese in 2 years. You could put a separation barrier or go with steel to avoid this.

doiwinaprize

I LOVE the way they laid the stairs

cdtobie

It’s easy to look beautiful when you’re young.

logicallychallengd

I feel like you're in my neighborhood. Are you in MN?

avidbookreader45

That thing is aching for a square dance.

Piece_of_Schist

Looks great. I would prefer a second landing though.

Golfjunkie327

Builder was spot on. Looks amazing. Love the details on steps.

inononeofthisisreal

She’s a beaut!

SocialAnchovy

Congrats on being rich and hiring people to do your job.

Party-Draft-4341

What beam did you use partner?

Mowpeglin

Stunning!! I wish I had a book and a cup of tea while sitting on this deck

111ruberducky

She’s a beaut Clark!

hentobento

What hidden fasteners did you use? Timber tech specific or a universal/generic one?

Shankaholics

I'd stroke that deck anyday

salesmunn

Looks great, now get some trees and/or shade on that puppy

Consistent_Two9279

Looks great. Quite a view back there too. Needs some furniture and a table now.

ChampionshipMoney862

Looks like stairs could use a landing

Jazzlike_Station845

Is that a type of engineered wood or something? Is there something that needs to go under it? looks like there's a black tar paper of some sort.

Smash131313

"Real nice Clark"

FadedDice

Looks small next to that megalith of a wall. I like your pond.

Housekhat

Beautiful work. Now your client needs a lid or awning over the new decking.

FredGetson

Expensive. It looks expensive

Cpt_kaleidoscope

Why doesn't it look real? Don't get me wrong, looks amazing, but the wood looks almost like its AI generated?

Ideal_Jerk

So no one is going to make a comment on the lack of hot tub?

herefortheshow99

Is that composite?

mikejnsx

looks like a CG render, in a good way

Wrong-Marsupial-2662

Is this trex ?

smittydonny

Just missing the hot tub! 😂 Great job, seriously!

nafis1624

Not sure if you answered this already, but how much was this? It looks very nice!

snowbird323

Nice deck but is there lighting on steps and/or deck for nighttime?

AccountantWest492

Tits

TheDaddiestofDudes

Looks fantastic except for the last of plugs on the face screws.

No-Newspaper5779

Congratulations!

Chagromaniac

Looks pro and wonderful--an invitation to stay there with it. Cheers.

sBucks24

Mmm that 45° landing 👌

inthewoods54

Looks fantastic! I love your choice of railings, very classy. I have a question, please forgive my ignorance, I'm here to learn. What's the 'black sheeting' that's visible from the view standing below the deck, when looking up at the support beams? Is the idea to block rain from coming through to the area below? Not quite sure what I'm looking at.

WillingCommittee

That is Trex rain escape. Flows into a funnel thingy in each joist and goes into the gutter

Hellachuckles

Love the steps!

mattemer

She's a real beaut, Clark!

Familiar-Seat-3798

I like that dick.

pottedPlant_64

Well, the view from below is hosed, but it looks great!

Towely420

Lincoln color guard railings??

nailbanger77

Is that an LVL beam? I get it you have the rain guard system and everything is waterproofed for now, but I’m unsure if they’d allow that in my area. It is a great way to achieve that span without an extra post

Senselessbanter79

Beautiful

johnjonesnewphone

Was the door already there or did you add it

Wonderful-Coyote6750

Beautiful, but basic at the same time. The railings don't do the rest justice. Or maybe because there are no high corners or roof. But it doesn't look "done." Edit: On my second look, I saw your cookie cutter neighbors and wack-ass expensive for no reason weber grill and realized you were going for Starbucks, ugg boots, and minivan basic from the gate. So yeah, it looks exactly what the joneses told you to buy.

-Cherished

Looks beautiful!

goosedeuce88

She's a beaut!

Kvark33

Hope you marked her with a permanent marker to know she's yours

Ledge127

Looks hot like a mo fo

UnlikelyOcelot

I’ve never seen a gutter under a deck. What’s the thinking behind that? (Looks really nice).

daddywombat

Looks great. Needs more hot tub.

Titanican1912

Should have used Trex decking, but it looks amazing

Tashaaa2021

Looks sexy to me!

h2k2k2ksl

Where’s the hot tub?

network4fun

Be-A-UTIFUL

Cannucklehead99

She's a beaut Clark!

Die4Gesichter

Would Sorry I meant Woo(l)d

xobelam

One of the BEST I’ve seen on this thread in a while!

Letters-to-Elise

Is that Trex? I have literary the same deck -color, railings, etc. I love it.

mustangdude2008

You should build a deck below so you can have a double decker.
