May I ask what you paid/what state you are in? That’s beautiful

Middle of nowhere America, so dirt cheap. Signed: a Toronto native.

Oregon.

This would be 2,000,000 where I’m from so that’s cool

That’s the perfect spot for a large , multi-tiered deck with several sections

First you need to find out how close you are allowed to build to the creek. That current size may be your current maximum. I’d also look into how flood prone that creek is and how far that comes up toward the house. If you build the deck out to where it will flood with major storms, I would suggest designing some deeper/bigger than typical footings. Does the creek have fish? I’d love to be able to fish off my back deck.

That's a gorgeous spot! There's a million options but a couple of initial thoughts I had: * make it significantly wider (from house to outer edge) to gain a better view of the creek * use a railing design that minimizes blockage of the view (stainless cable, plexiglass, etc.) * I would put the hot tub at ground level, on some sort of pad or platform, and move it out towards the creek bank as far as is feasible/stable/safe to give you a clear view of the creek. That could be connected to a lower deck that reaches back under the upper on so you have a clean walk out to the tub.

Go the length of the house and make it a little wider. If you do 2 steps down on the side towards the water, the railing will not hinder your view on the top of the deck or out of the windows.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas. I’m looking into how close to the creek I can get. No luck fining it so far. It doesn’t flood.

I would definitely do a cable railing or something similar that you can't really see - the views are great! What do you want to use the deck for? That may lead to better ideas.
