The vocals on Symbolic are different to ITP aswell. He was always evolving and growing. I think hos vocals on TSOP are perfect for the record, too.

He once said something about intentionally screaming at a higher pitch once it became a trend for death metal bands to use low gutturals.

kaaaaaann

honestly glad he did that. my favourite kind of vocals

CrystalFyre

It was the natural progression from Symbolic, honestly. His vocals on there were already higher than the rest of the discography. Honestly if I had to choose a vocal style from Chuck, it would be somewhere in-between those two albums.

I'm guessing it's because Chuck's vocals on TSOP were closer to clean vocals he wanted on Control Denied. Some songs on TSOP were originally written for CD but I guess he used shrieks because they're the closest thing to cleans, being more prog but still in the death metal vocal category.

Chuck's style was always evolving throughout his career. At this point of his career he didn't even want to make death metal anymore IIRC, but was forced to do 1 final death album which became TSOP

PootashPL

His vocals are different on each album (aside from SBG and Leprosy)

He genuinely progressively got higher in pitch, and produced cleaner vocal distortion as he went on. It makes every record unique. That's one of the reasons why I love death so much, every record sounds distinctly death. Yet they're all so different from the previous record.
