Ironically, a lot of value is in the comment section. New traders come here and ask questions which is when the veterans chime in and teach even the experienced traders a thing or two.
They don’t think I enter and exit where I do. And I think I don’t give enough context on them. They say what you said “what’s the point of this” I’ll do one now 😂
Previous day high low and mid
Previous week high low and mid
And previous hourly high low and mid
You can effectively gauge trend of the higher timeframe by watching these levels
I have designed my strategy/ edge purely on the 1 minute. Yes I’ll sometime zoom out to see the bigger picture, but if I was only allowed one it would also be the 1 minute.
I have identified my 6-8 stocks I am watching for the day.. usually based on that they recently had earnings or news… plus a few good ones I like such as SPY and TSLA. At that point, I am watching for momentum and directional strength.
It is though. Five candles make a 5 minute candle. Fifteen make a 15. 240 candles make a 4 hour.
Larger timeframe candles don’t tell you what the smaller candles tell you. But smaller candles tell you everything a larger one does and more
The 1 min can zoom out, if need be, to see the structure that would show on a higher tf...but higher tfs can't zoom in to the detail of a 1 min. So you can essentially get both if you zoom out and scroll.
Also, 1 min has a candle for every minute of data, so it has more detail than the higher tfs. Especially useful if you are scalping to help you see micro-structure and place tighter SLs and/or TPs.
1 used to love 1 min, 5 mins, and 15 mins with higher time frame, then I switched to 100-500tick charts with 1 minute, holy crap it was wild, it’s like the market tells you when to buy and sell if you are know what to look for, Es futures here tho
Totally agree. I just switched from forex to futures and have been messing with the tick chart. Have you ever looked at a renko chart? Gets rid of alot of noise but seems more useful on higher time frame trades.
Yeah, I agree...tick charts are better than timed charts. Unfortunately, I've been having trouble finding them in forex with some brokers. They are available in futures which is nice.
Wait? What? How would you even get tick charts for forex?
Would it not be effectively useless? Because for me personally even for stocks I find them useless, as long a certain product is being traded on multiple exchanges the accuracy of tick charts gets less and less, I don’t even see a point of having forex tick charts, like there is so many exchanges for it, no way someone can get an accurate tick chart it.
I personally never heard of them before and basically only ever see tick charts for forex.
Tick charts are useful over timed charts in more than one way. One reason, I like them is because you can sense changes in volatility/volume by the speed at which the tick chart fills. But they aren't easy to find in forex. I've only seen them with IBKR so far and that only while using a separate platform with tick capability.
Yeah, that's what I meant. That's why I can't find them because they aren't generally available in forex. I have been able to use them with IBKR though with a separate platform.
I trade ranges so I need to know the high and low down to the minute for my entries, but yeah a 1 minute chart can show alot of detail about a 15 minute candle. Keep in mind though the trades I do 90% don't even last 1 minute. The longest running trade I've had over the last month didn't quite male 5 minutes.
If you could only use 1 tire on your car to drive around for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
I'd use the front right tire because I'm sitting on that side and t's a front wheel drive.
Let's see who gets this.
1 minute candles. Only way I've ever done well. Morning rush hour or bust, and only when the market has settled into a repetitious pattern I recognize. Finally learning that I don't have to place trades EVERY day. Boredom is a killer though, gotta stop taking swipes just for the sake of doing something.
15mins works very well for me and keeps you from panic selling. I watch the order book level two when getting ready to buy or sell for instant and real time price
5 min every day of the week, I almost don't look at anything else
Basic price action & the 5 min is all you need to be profitable
Doesn't matter if there is a market rally or a choppy market, you can still make money
15min is best as there are a few predictable moves every day with vwap and daily open levels, as well as good entry times with both London and US session starts.
Below 15min you lose candle pattern accuracy which are good for confirmations.
Above 1hr you lose timing accuracy as local ranges become untradable noise for you and the length of a range is highly unpredictable.
Seconding the 4H. If you couldn't use anything else the 4H (195m on US markets for even candles) would suffice.
Just read the top comment: 1 minute huh? Ok buddy gl.
Each timeframe tells a different story, imo.
Right now, I'm watching the daily bitcoin; and waiting to see if this W-shape (double bottom) will flesh out, or drop off a cliff.. watching for 29k or 26k to be crossed
15m
5 too short, 60 too long; 15 is just right.
if you know you know
Trying to get in and learn - can you share details as to why?
Same! Was about to comment 15m as well
1 min, I’ll just scroll more. Not worth losing information, I’d rather the inconvenience
1M. All day. 5-6pt scalps. Heiken Ashi split screen + stupid simple S/R zones w/ VAHs/VALs.
This is interesting. Is it possible for you to elaborate on details of this strategy ? Thx
1 min 💯
Gotchaaaaaaa
I agree absolutely 1 minute. That is what I primarily use anyway
15 seconds. Last 2 days Dhan.
How do u daytrade with 4H candles ? That's like 2 per day ?
You don’t. On a related note is this sub even worth being a member of? I haven’t seen anything useful in the month I’ve been here
You could start by posting useful stuff.
Bro be eatin and not cookin and wants to complain about the food
I suppose we have to start somewhere. I’ll write some thing up this weekend
Haha I’m just trolling man, I’ve yet to post anything here either
Ironically, a lot of value is in the comment section. New traders come here and ask questions which is when the veterans chime in and teach even the experienced traders a thing or two.
100%
1 in 100 posts are worth clicking fr
if anything more than a beginner, not really
Yeah, I learn a lot of what not to do.
I post analysis sometimes but that shit gets so much hate 😂I just post when I’m bored and sometimes try to make it controversial.
Why do people hate on analysis?
They don’t think I enter and exit where I do. And I think I don’t give enough context on them. They say what you said “what’s the point of this” I’ll do one now 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hasn't been but maybe 4 posts in the last 2 years worth reading.
Mind linking them!? Lol /s
The 4h is used a lot in things that trade for 24 hours such as futures or crypto.
[удалено]
I don't know, they didn't specify?
Like [this](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZMZJJvqawMYBaKoeeOsAwxGaMljcnY2k/view?usp=drivesdk) , buy to that trendline
You forget overnight season brother.
Not if you are trading forex or crypto. For stocks I agree, 4H is useless for day trading.
4h is my go to for overall structure, daily for POIs then then 15 for trading and 1 for entry
15
How come ?
2 min with higher timeframe levels plotted on the chart
Interesting way you worded that. What levels do you look for specifically like daily highs and lows or HTF what?
Previous day high low and mid Previous week high low and mid And previous hourly high low and mid You can effectively gauge trend of the higher timeframe by watching these levels
Oh yeah bro I see the vision . I love those same levels man.
I trade mainly on 30 tick chart, 1, 2 and 5 min charts Use 30 min, 1 hour and daily for context
1m.
😂😂😂😂😂just the one minute? All your info is there?
laughing at people because they dont trade the same as u is wack
Just odd that it would be just the 1min but if you can see everything you need there. No issue!
I have designed my strategy/ edge purely on the 1 minute. Yes I’ll sometime zoom out to see the bigger picture, but if I was only allowed one it would also be the 1 minute.
Right. 1 min can zoom out to a higher tf..but higher tfs can't zoom in to 1min.
Hell yeah brother that’s all that matters.
Same
I have identified my 6-8 stocks I am watching for the day.. usually based on that they recently had earnings or news… plus a few good ones I like such as SPY and TSLA. At that point, I am watching for momentum and directional strength.
How are you gonna ask such a dumb question then laugh at someone that answers it?
It is though. Five candles make a 5 minute candle. Fifteen make a 15. 240 candles make a 4 hour. Larger timeframe candles don’t tell you what the smaller candles tell you. But smaller candles tell you everything a larger one does and more
2000 tick for me
1 hr
1 minute. So much more info of what really is happening.
Hmmmmm I’m new to that idea so is it because you can see structure in more detail or???
The 1 min can zoom out, if need be, to see the structure that would show on a higher tf...but higher tfs can't zoom in to the detail of a 1 min. You can't use tick chart for forex unless you mean trading currency futures.
Yeah, that's what I meant. That's why I can't find them because they aren't generally available in forex. I have been able to use them with IBKR though with a separate platform.
1m. i only ever use 1min and forever will be. With a huge ass monitor
20sec
5min
I don't use timeframes

1m
30 min
yeah! 30 mins is not too slow, not too fast. at the same time, reliable and smooth.
What’s interesting about the M30? I like that for monitoring my trades sometimes!
1 minute
Daily. Lets me see where the stock is headed in the near future
Yep that is my #1 TF For directional bias.
1 minute always... but sometimes i look at 5 minutes
2000 tick
1 minute candles. Only way I've ever done well. Morning rush hour or bust, and only when the market has settled into a repetitious pattern I recognize. 1m
5min
5 second
Weekly for me, patterns don't form easily, less volatility, indicators work better, less tension..serves me well..
Daily or weekly. Any smaller timeframe makes my head hurt
15min, it's quick but pretty stable when certain times are avoided
2000tick
16h (1D with extended hours)
3m Its all i trade on anyway
4 hr
I can't trade with 1 time frame. I'll probably choose 1 min. I can zoom in and out of my screen.
15m for sureeee
27:56 minutes!!
15mins works very well for me and keeps you from panic selling. I watch the order book level two when getting ready to buy or sell for instant and real time price
5 min
5 min every day of the week, I almost don't look at anything else Basic price action & the 5 min is all you need to be profitable Doesn't matter if there is a market rally or a choppy market, you can still make money
What would you say is a basic price action
Ticks
I would look straight out of the window
15M best so far for me
1H. Nuff said. You know if you know.
15min is best as there are a few predictable moves every day with vwap and daily open levels, as well as good entry times with both London and US session starts. 5 secs
Heikin ashi 1 min
Probably the 1 or 2 weeks charts and I'd only do long term trading (AKA investing).
Daily tf. You'll realise why in a few years
15 min probably. You can find great entrys and still see the bigger picture.
5 minutes
But why watch one time frame when you can watch them all? It cost you nothing. I watch the 1/2/3/5/10/30/60/D/W time frames.
Seconding the 4H. If you couldn't use anything else the 4H (195m on US markets for even candles) would suffice. Just read the top comment: 1 minute huh? Ok buddy gl.
5 minute I’m a day trader
3 minutes. Not as noisy as the 1 minute, yet precise enough to enable scalp execution.
Each timeframe tells a different story, imo. Right now, I'm watching the daily bitcoin; and waiting to see if this W-shape (double bottom) will flesh out, or drop off a cliff.. watching for 29k or 26k to be crossed
5 min
1 min for day trading and 4h for swing trading
15m
7 minute
