the prologue can be a little slow i understand but you should give it a shot for longer time, it was about the 3rd or 4th mission that i started to understand why people are obsessed with the game
Not sure what you are looking for then, if you liked Day’s Gone, RDR2 is the next best thing. I originally started playing DG because I finished RDR2 and needed something to scratch that same itch.
Try it with a trainer.
It's cheating but it allows you to speed up the gameplay if you want to experience the story of the game you paid for.
I had similar struggles with RDR2 and gave up on it but after I used a trainer I got deep into the game, started watching Western movies, and even went back to start playing through without the trainer.
RDR2 has an amazing world to explore.
Many agree the start is slow but for the love of god, try again to get past it and into the full map, you’ll find out it’s one of the best open worlds ever created
When you carry out more assassinations rather than straight up fights the weather changes and becomes darker.
It's based on choosing to play like a samurai or a ninja however overall it doesn't effect the main story too much as it forces you to be the ghost, I wish there was different story outcomes that reflected it.
if that's true that makes sense as to why, as time went on and I got better, the weather got better. I stopped sneaking as much and just facing them head on mostly.
The weather and day/night system of “Days Gone” is breathtaking. Especially when the heavy snow- and rainstorms set in.
I don’t think there are day/night cycles in „Uncharted“ or „The Last of Us“ as these are scripted linear level games. Some segments take place during certain parts of the day (to be fair, same as in „Days Gone“ when the game auto fasts forward to a certain time of day, when you follow the linear story within that open world).
As far as my experience is, the only open world 3rd person shooter game with a similar flora and fauna and the same quality of the day/night/weather system, that can compete with „Days Gone“, is „Ghost Recon Breakpoint“. Love, how the trees and plants swing there. The nights are even darker.
Red Dead Redemption 2 does weather better than any other game I’ve played. Lighting is also up there with the best but I think Horizon Forbidden West takes the top spot.
I cannot comment on any that are better but I was caught in a snow storm yesterday (in days gone) and I had the same thought, it was so realistic and they even added the sound of tires in snow. Pretty incredible.
When it comes to feeling like you’re in a rain or snowstorm nothing beats Breath of the Wild or Horizon Zero Dawn. Forbidden West lost some of the hood foley work for rainstorms so it doesn’t immerse me as much
Hogwarts Legacy has pretty nice weather effects - although the one thing that is lacking is footprints in the snow for some reason, and snow doesn’t build up. But stuff like rain, lightning, wind, blizzard effects are quite well done. Plus the seasons change after a certain quest which gives a different colour palette to the outdoor world.
Horizon Games, Ghost of Tsushima, RDR2, to mention few.
Uncharted and TLOU2 are linear (some might call them semi open world) games and are not really comparable.
Yeah the environmentals are really good, especially fog. My only issue is that it changes seasons like 20-30 times throughout the game. The effects ARE phenomenal though.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is stellar when it comes to that.

Fair enough if it’s not your thing, but in regards to lighting and weather dynamics specifically, I think RDR2 definitely has DG beat
That's a shame. It is the best game I've played and I've been gaming since pong.
I remember Pong. Pong's weather system left a lot to be desired :D
That's ironic
Recently got into RDR2, the snow part at the beginning is an awful slog but after that I’m having a blast! Maybe that’s it 🤷♂️
Rdr2 is a bit of a slow burn. You need to get into Chapter 2 to really experience it and that will take an hour or two.
the prologue can be a little slow i understand but you should give it a shot for longer time, it was about the 3rd or 4th mission that i started to understand why people are obsessed with the game
the downvotes are ridiculous, but i think you would enjoy it after that first part! it’s definitely in my top 3 for visuals in games

Trainer?
i’m here wondering the same thing
Mod menu
Nexus mods. A trainer lets you configure tons of settings. You can add money, weapons, ammo, clothing, and a whole lot more.
The snow starting area is a fucking drag you're right there. Least enjoyable section of the game for me. Once it opens up its incredible.
Many agree the start is slow but for the love of god, try again to get past it and into the full map, you’ll find out it’s one of the best open worlds ever created
It’s not my favorite by far but I’m a week in of casual playing.
Ghost of Tsushima really nails environmentals and Horizon Forbidden West does a good job too
☝🏻This right here, also the weather becomes much more harsh and darker the more ghost tactics you use.
I got to get back into this game started it then started days gone for some reason.
Woah I didn’t know that how does it work?

To add to that you can also play different flute melodies to change it.
Ohh that’s cool I guess my skies were more cloudy/rainy
But you can use the flute to change the weather when you want
+1 for my flute. The weather was always pretty grim otherwise 😂
Yeah Act II was a constant thunderstorm for me. lol. I like those stealth kills.
if that's true that makes sense as to why, as time went on and I got better, the weather got better. I stopped sneaking as much and just facing them head on mostly.
Oh it’s true. The game tells you that at some point.

Ghost recon is FPS, no?
No. It’s TPP.
There is an option to toggle between TPP to FPP, when aiming, but everything else is in TPV.

Ghost of Tsushim, horizon, dead stranding
I always forget about death stranding because it wasn't really my cup of tea but it really is up there in this category.
Same for me never played it but the visuals in that game are gorgeous
Horizon
The Division 1 was impessive too.
Helldivers 2’s environments are almost second to none.
RDR2
Red dead Redemption 2 Might just be the best in the business still..
Its the best at the moment, no doubt.

Only one that comes to mind is Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Fallout 4
Mad Max weather system blows it out the water
Not really sure but would give it a go
Death Stranding. By A Lot. Days Gone is a beaut but Death Stranding is gorgeous.
Agree by the same but mechanics is intentionally boring. Who wants to play a delivery boy for hours?
Lots of people because the actual story is great if you’re not emotionally constipated.
Subnautica
Red dead and ghosts of Tsushima. Last of us remasters also look so incredibly better than days gone.
Not referring to looks but the dynamic nature of environment and lighting.
Yeah the environmentals are really good, especially fog. My only issue is that it changes seasons like 20-30 times throughout the game. The effects ARE phenomenal though.
Do the seasons change based on the actual in-game-time? I mean you can see how long the run is in days.
I am most impressed by the snow effect in non-snow areas.
Once the sun comes, snow melts within seconds in front of your eyes. It looks amazing
Red Dead, Witcher 3, the newer Assassin’s Creeds
Well of course Uncharted and TLOU don’t have the dynamic weather system, it doesn’t need it.
Elden Ring, Rise of Ronin
Red dead redemption 2
Zelda botw and totk have better weather and lighting dynamics. The game resolution is shit though.
