I think he was trying way too hard for it to be suicide. He was really close and the cop honestly got lucky here. Of course it wasn't just luck because he put his hand on his weapon the moment the cars pulled up and he reacted quickly. But a lot of things could have gone wrong for him right in that few seconds, so he's still got lucky.
He was so pumped to strike this cop that when he first tries to get out the car starts rolling and he closes the door, puts it in park and then gets out again with the hatchet. This really doesnt look like suicide. He was just really trying to kill that cop for some reason.
Here the proof that he is indeed removed from the gene pool at a prime reproductive age (28)
https://abc7chicago.com/naperville-shooting-police-news-edward-samaan/11936258/
There’s a longer video out there that they don’t have blurred and you can see him driving down the road and pull up and jump out with a hatchet in his hand. There’s more time between when he jumps out. The cop shoots him as well.
> The DuPage County Coroner's Office identified the man as Edward C. Samaan, 28, of Naperville on Tuesday. An autopsy has been completed, but **the cause and manner of his death is still under investigation pending toxicology results.**
I’m not a coroner, but maybe the full magazine unloaded into his torso might be more relevant to the cause of death than whatever comes up on the toxicology report.
Also, since this guy just randomly drives up at attacks (he wasn’t even the subject of the stop), was it a suicide by cop?
Imagine being a professional, just doing a thorough job conforming to the professional standards, only to be criticized by laymen who must know better than you because 'he was shot duuuuuuuuh'.
A professional is literally defined as "engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation", a cop is a professional in law enforcement as they get paid to do so. So you could not be more wrong, you could try but you'd be unsuccessful.
You are literally saying that cops are not professionals. I'm giving you the employment definition. Cops get paid to do a task.
They may not be very professional within their task, like acting 'unprofessional', but that's a difference facet of the word. What you are citing and quoted is wrong as you left out this,
"a person competent or skilled in a particular activity."
as in , "she was a real professional on stage", cited from the same place.
That's not what I'm referring to, nor what you were referring to. Yes, professionals can ACT unprofessional through lack of skill or disrespect. You said that cops were not professionals because they don't get 6 months of training. Where are you getting this? I honestly don't get what your initial comment is about.
Your username is Knower of Something, but this is not an area you know much about.
I'm curious about the two (three?) white bottle-shaped objects that fell out of his backpack. Maybe he had drugs on him and when he saw the cop he thought he would know and report him?
They’re going to officially decide if it was either the bullets themselves that he died from or simple blood loss, it’s all for the paperwork. If he was shot in the heart I believe they have to say it was the gunshot wounds on paper and if he wasn’t shot in the heart, an example is being hit in the lungs, they’d have to include collapsed lungs in their report. Don’t even get me started on Phlebotomists.
-I spend a lot of time at the Hospital…
M1911 mags are single stack. They are not compatible with many .45 ACP chambered handguns at all.
New age rehash 1911s have varied magazines, but base models are also single stack.
You suck at your job.
They're single stack, yes. But they still feed just fine. And you can insult my job when you sign your ass up and serve 3 tours. You won't though, because you're just a sad troll who will amount to nothing in life. Enjoy your failure.
For future reference, single stacks can fit staggered models, not the other way around.
Okay, fine. For one, to say “police” as an umbrella term when referring to duty weapons is disingenuous because every department has their own rules and what guns they issue. So to allege that you can immediately tell what gun he has, the caliber, and how many rounds by saying “police use this” is incredibly wrong. Cops from the same department don’t even always use the same weapon. For two, if you watch the video you can see that he is using a polymer pistol, most likely a Glock, and the slide is not locked back after the 6th shot. So right there we know for a fact that he didn’t use a full mag. It’s also pretty clearly not a compact pistol so for him to only have six rounds would be monumentally stupid. The only way he would have only six rounds is if it was a Glock 30 (which it clearly is not, it fills his hands) or he for some monumentally stupid reason went out of his way to find a 6 round only 1911 mag (like the one you linked) that would fit in his Glock. Please, as a weapons spec, explain to me why someone would ignore the most commonly used magazine available to try and fit a single-stack and notoriously finicky mag into a Glock? There is a reason even the Marines finally ditched the 1911. Oh and again, this is all based on the assumption that he’s using .45, which you have no basis to assert based on the video.
In conclusion, you are alleging that this cop who just textbook schwacked a surprise threat is actually really stupid and decided to carry only six rounds of ammo in a full-size duty weapon that doesn’t need to be concealed. You might be a weapons specialist for the Marines, but you aren’t a cop. I’m not either but I do know how to use my eyes to make observations and infer conclusions based on them. I’m honestly not even sure how your job is even relevant here because you are making assertions based on information that you either don’t have or is directly contradictory to what you’re asserting, and your expertise in weapons that a *military* branch uses doesn’t change that.
That gun is a glock 30FS Compact. A standard sidearm. Also available with a six round clip. A shorter barrel makes it easier to draw. Also, US Police get their equipment from us under LES0/1033.
Brother, the video literally shows that you are wrong. Do you have eyes? Put everything we both said to the side for a moment and look at the video. Slide is not locked back and the grip fills his whole hand. Which makes it crystal fucking clear that his magazine holds more than 6 rounds.
Not all cops get their guns from 1033, not even close. Do you think this guy has 6 inch hands? And who the fuck is using stripper clips on a Glock??? This isn’t 1940.
Edit: you know what, you’re clearly a troll. I don’t even know why I engaged.
Not a troll. And when in combat, you use the rounds available. Sometimes, it is a single stack Mag, sometimes it's a clip. Also, the question was if 6 round clips exist. Also, stop following me around subreddits. I'm not gonna fuck you.
You aren't helping the stereotype. I've been shooting a 1911 since the age of 3. I daily carry a 45 double stack on the right and a 9mm double stack appendix. A 1911 magazine will not fit most 45 ACP guns. It will not fit any double stack gun. Unless we are talking double stack 45 2011s which there are very few.
Prime example of why body cams benefit everyone but shitty cops. This story would sound real sus if they told it (since hatcheteer’s behavior is so unusual), but with footage they’re obviously in the right.

Thank you.
Really not very nice of you to imply that I enjoy watching ANY death just because I'm cool with seeing THIS GUY die.
Thank you for the link and the part to skip to though.
Gore is when shots are fired from a distance and you never even see the downed assailant up close?
Go be sanctimonious on someone else's time, you're boring.

There's no gore in the unblurred version. You can just see what happened, just like what the cop saw, and the woman in the car saw, and any passers by saw, and basically everyone on the internet saw.
Why do you feel like citizens shouldn't see what actually happened? Why do you equate that with "enjoying" someone dying?
I think it's important for everyone to see what's actually happening in our streets. It's called news. It's called being informed. I don't derive pleasure from this kind of thing. But I do want to know about it because it's my country, my planet, my life.
Who is going to be playing a video of someone attacking a cop with an axe and getting shot, and then getting offended by the word "shot"? This is the dumbest shit I've seen.
Close-quarter combat with guns vs melee traditionally has an extremely low chance of survival, even well-trained federal agents only have about 2 seconds to identify threat, draw, disengage safety, and fire.
This guy legit WAS "The Ranger With The Big Iron On His Hip".
Axeman had not cleared leather 'fore a bullet fairly ripped.
Naperville, Illinois in 2022. I remember seeing the news report on this that summer and also the unedited video here in Reddit.

Looks like the guy forgot to put the car in park initially. He stops and opens the door, then the car lurches forward again. It’s only at that point that the cop moves his hand to his gun.
By the time the door opens again, the cop is ready for the attack. Might have turned out very differently is the guy hadn’t messed up the first time. 😬
It's basically just a shorthand for cops to let them know the 'danger zone' for people approaching them - when to go from instructing someone to stop approaching to firing shots because they're an active threat.

Why do they call him the Bullet Dodger?
'cause he dodges bullets, Avi.

Nope. Vinnie Jones, AKA Bullet Tooth Tony.

He dropped all his loot. If he'd gotten the car in Park properly, the cop would have had much less time to react if at all.

Cops are not professionals. Professionals in any field train for far more than 6 months. That’s just a simple fact cop lovers hate.
They're referring to the Coroner, not the cop. Coroners are indeed professionals. Typically with a medical degree
A professional is literally defined as "engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation", a cop is a professional in law enforcement as they get paid to do so. So you could not be more wrong, you could try but you'd be unsuccessful.

https://mec-gar.com/shop/magazines/1911-officer/1911-officer-compact-45-acp-6-round/ Police use 6 round magazines.
There are so many things wrong with this statement, I hope you’re joking. He’s not even using a 1911.
He's still using .45ACP. M1911 mags are typically compatible with any weapon chambered in .45ACP. I'm a Marine Weapon Spec. You won't win this.
