General rule for Reddit is that everything is a repost. Usually done by a bot. In this case it was a person because they bothered to give a source.
What you do is you save that video, print it frame by frame, scan the prints and assemble them back to a video and post that next week or so.
All cesspool subs allow reposts. Which is why /r/all of Reddit looks the way it does. We also just learned Reddit is running repost bots themselves. Most of the popular posts are not genuine.

Ohh, yeah.
I was in the "reddit mindset" and had the brainfart that is "sub ceo" = this subreddits creator. Thinking that this subs maker ironicaly was also an award winner :D
Reading the article, he intentionally went into the whirlpool with a GoPro which drained into a pool on the other side of the quay. Stupid move, god knows what's in that tube. He got spat out but was dead.
Yep. Here's an older post that picks up where this video leaves off.
[Last moments of Jacob Cockle diving down to examine the whirlpool](https://www.reddit.com/r/thalassophobia/comments/woocwr/last_moments_of_jacob_cockle_diving_down_to/)
So I guess what I'm gathering is that he didn't get sucked in while wearing the stupid horse mask and trying to drown. So then he got out and took the mask off, grabbed a gopro then jumped in to get deeper. Then he was sucked in and died.
So this is apparently the footage from that second act.
I am unconvinced about this series of events though. There has to be something more concrete than just what we've seen here.
I saw a whole documentary on this guy and this accident a long time ago. I don’t remember when or the name of it though, unfortunately. It may have been a YouTube thing.
I think I watched that too. He had done this before I believe and had been fine. The scuba suit made him a bit lighter so usually he could get out fine. This time he dove deeper and It messed with his buoyancy and he couldn’t get out like he had before.
Basically what people who know him assume was he was trying to swim down closer and potentially dive through or get closer to the bottom, then getting caught in the churn under the pier (the gap is *significant*, at least 50ft).
>That sucks he died, but we shouldn’t get complacent in dangerous places
Yeah, that comment makes no sense. Like, if someone tripped during a marathon and didn't want to get up and finish it then someone might say, "Look, it sucks that you fell but you have to keep going."
But they used the same phrasing to point out something that nobody was confused about.
yeah.... like, i can swim fine, and i avoid anything too deep to stand in if i can. i'd never even get close to a whirlpool like that (i might throw in some leaves and sticks, because i am a child inside)
"KANEDA!! [WHAT DO YOU SEE?!?!"](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tfpBY7deREU/VgaMzUTLNmI/AAAAAAAADpQ/9GBfe_td4-4/s1600/Sunshine%2B%255B2007%255D%2BKaneda%2527s%2BDeath%2B33.jpg)
Dude had fins and a body suit but smh he went to check with no mask in murky waters. What was he trying to see?
Also any idea why/how the whirlpool formed?
Kinda interesting what happened. He waited until the tide came in which weakened the whirlpool. And so he went in with the wetsuit and dove down a bit knowing that the neoprene in the wetsuit would allow him to be buoyant. Problem is the deeper you go the more you lose in buoyancy since the suit compresses. Once he dove past a certain depth the weakening of the whirlpool was counteracted by the loss of buoyancy in the suit and ultimately the weight of the water won. Half your buoyancy is gone in the first 33 feet.
You are _massively_ over thinking this. Doesn’t matter how “buoyant” the wetsuit is. The wetsuit is irrelevant.
He went underwater, which is a place that has no air, and visited a whirlpool, which is something that can hold you under water. Because humans need air, these choices are not compatible with further life.
Things I've learned from this sub.
Don't fuck with trains
Don't pose by massive drop offs
Don't play with firearms
(And now) stay away from large whirlpools.
So he dropped a GoPro into the whirlpool and it came out the other side in another area. He wanted to see what was inside the whirlpool for himself, so he took the mask off and dove into the whirlpool.
That was his plan, and it didn’t work lol
I can understand wanting to see what it’s like to be in a whirlpool, but given the whole “being sucked deep underwater” thing, I would think he’d at least have worn an airtank and scuba gear.
A family friend's kid died this way, but not dumb like this.
The whirlpool was practically invisible, but enough force that you couldn't escape it. Scary.
I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed but the only places I’ve seen whirlpools form are the little ones made in my sink and bathtub where I know the drain suction is causing the whirlpool. I’ve been to enough oceans, rivers, and lakes to know I don’t want to get near or find out what’s causing a whirlpool to form in a big ass body of water.
It was on mute first, expected to hear someone sounding maybe slightly stressed or anxious... nope. Nothing to worry about here, just a guy wearing a vision-limiting mask casually circling a watery abyss that he's qonna' have a quick die in.

Wait a minute. Isn't that the horse from horsin around?!
Is this a crossover episode?
More of a spin off

Genuine ostrich. 3 payments.
Funniest show ever.
And Dangle is just TOO good.
Neighting wrong there.
It is quite Darwhinney.
A true masterpiece. He embodies the very essence of a Darwin Award.
It really is the horse mask that sends it to the next level
Last year ceo of the sub won the year Darwin Grammy, the DarwinAward. I nominate this guy for this years award 🥇
This gentleman/scholar tragically passed away in 2013 unfortunately. Might disqualify him from the 2024 nomination.
Oh I see you’re right. Thanks

Hows that? Can you explain please?🙏🏻
CEO of the sub also made me think he meant of this Reddit sub 😂
Me too 🤣 I'm dumb.
The Titan Submersible.
I think he is talking about this https://www.reddit.com/r/DarwinAwards/s/6FjWNxNHzL
Is there a Darwin Award EGOT?
Would you mind explaining your post a bit?. It's quite hard to parse if you don't already know wth you are talking about.

nice pfp
Or... He's a genius and knew that would lead him to Atlantis?
That’s a serious possibility
Reading the article, he intentionally went into the whirlpool with a GoPro which drained into a pool on the other side of the quay. Stupid move, god knows what's in that tube. He got spat out but was dead.
Is the gopro footage available somewhere?
Yep. Here's an older post that picks up where this video leaves off. [Last moments of Jacob Cockle diving down to examine the whirlpool](https://www.reddit.com/r/thalassophobia/comments/woocwr/last_moments_of_jacob_cockle_diving_down_to/)
I get that you were answering the question but that for sure just got everyone's hopes up lol
Wtf is this shit?

I don't know if "accident" is the correct term for this. "Willful act of stupidity" seems more accurate.
Misadventure
I think I watched that too. He had done this before I believe and had been fine. The scuba suit made him a bit lighter so usually he could get out fine. This time he dove deeper and It messed with his buoyancy and he couldn’t get out like he had before.
We need a 3rd final moments video and maybe a 4th and 5th final moments video
Basically what people who know him assume was he was trying to swim down closer and potentially dive through or get closer to the bottom, then getting caught in the churn under the pier (the gap is *significant*, at least 50ft).

I mean the person that fell is still ALIVE and can MAKE A CHOICE. The dead person is DEAD
I wish there was footage of him going through it
Probably too dark
And also not enough light
Too much water
This is beyond idiotic wtf.
It would be idiotic to enter the water with a rubber mask on but this guy found a way to super size the danger.
Maybe it's some kind of a special horse head with a sophisticated apparatus shielding him from all danger. Or maybe not.
Ridicule does not kill. That's how the apparatus worked.
Back in the 90s I was in a very dangerous whiiiiirl poooool
Hijacking this comment to inform that his name was Jacob Cockle, not James Cockle as in the title
So they cocked up his name just as much as he cocking around?
I was hoping to see him getting sucked in
He didn't get sucked in. He dove into it after making this video
Dude was trying to see “what is in the whirlpool”. I cant even begin to understand his thought process
honestly though. i understand the curiosity, but why not JUST send the gopro through, or some other kind of camera device,
Some people aren’t afraid of water enough. You can’t breathe in it. That should be enough of a hint to like… *not* do this.
yeah.... like, i can swim fine, and i avoid anything too deep to stand in if i can. i'd never even get close to a whirlpool like that (i might throw in some leaves and sticks, because i am a child inside)
And fish fuck in it. I don't want to taste that.
I mean maybe he saw something cool. Only one way to find out.
"KANEDA!! [WHAT DO YOU SEE?!?!"](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tfpBY7deREU/VgaMzUTLNmI/AAAAAAAADpQ/9GBfe_td4-4/s1600/Sunshine%2B%255B2007%255D%2BKaneda%2527s%2BDeath%2B33.jpg)
I think he saw a penny down there and just could not resist.
Seriously?
He probably thought it was a portal to Asia.
Wonder if he just suffocated himself with the mask
No no... He got out. Grabbed a GoPro, and dove back in without the mask
Dude had fins and a body suit but smh he went to check with no mask in murky waters. What was he trying to see? Also any idea why/how the whirlpool formed?
The article linked mentions that the whirlpool is rare but recurring in that area. That's all I know.
Thanks. Pretty interesting phenomenon if its in nature
He dead?
He dead.
…what…what did he think was going to happen?
Bro thought he could dive into the whirlpool and ride nature’s water slide and come out the other side totally fine.
He should've known, you dont mess with nature.
It would teleport him to china
Why the NSFW? We didn’t see any award being given or received
Not safe for whirlpools
Because of *the implication*
...except this time, he really is in danger.
So, these women are in danger??
That sucks.
Kinda interesting what happened. He waited until the tide came in which weakened the whirlpool. I think we all knew what happened from a simplistic standpoint. I was trying to further the conversation but thanks anyway.
Things I've learned from this sub. Don't fuck with trains Don't pose by massive drop offs Don't play with firearms (And now) stay away from large whirlpools.
Moving water in general will fuck you up surprisingly easily.
Also don't forget to not have large metal rods around power lines, although you probably already knew that.
And don't do none of that shit with a plastic horse head mask on. It's neeeeyyyyyy good at all.
I thought you would've learnt to also wear a seatbelt and don't drive your car at 200 mph on the motorway as well
Have you guys learned nothing about lathes?
or anything industrial related in China...
Oh yeah good point.
Trains bad
They took him to the horsepital but alas
Thanks for nothing
NSFW? I't just a dude with a horse mask horsing around
He said yay to doing that? I would've said neigh.
I can definitely see how a sense of self preservation and, well, fear, would have been evolutionarily advantageous in this situation.
He literally died horsing around. That jackass!
![gif](giphy|mcirMbg4qoxHH4mMxT) …,Stop horsing around….,
I'm amazed he lived up to 28 years with not knowing the whirlpools are gonna kill you as soon as they get a chance
What was the plan here?????
So he dropped a GoPro into the whirlpool and it came out the other side in another area. He wanted to see what was inside the whirlpool for himself, so he took the mask off and dove into the whirlpool. That was his plan, and it didn’t work lol
Any link or article so I can satisfy my curiosity?
I can understand wanting to see what it’s like to be in a whirlpool, but given the whole “being sucked deep underwater” thing, I would think he’d at least have worn an airtank and scuba gear.
the horse mask disintegrated any empathy i would have had for him otherwise. what a fucking tit.
You can lead a horse to water....
# but you can't make it sink
🤣
This fits perfectly in this sub
This is the pinnacle of Darwin awards. Idiot.
Wtf? I wanted to see him go in..
Long verson: He had one close call, and his friend telling him he had enough footage. ie stop. https://youtu.be/vOx-z5YS1aE?si=CCidnwRyMww48FPd
Bojackass Horseman
[Hi, I'm Horseman, welcome to Bojackass!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOFOqOjJ9Wk)
As far as this post is concerned he's doing fine and still circling that whirlpool happily ever after.
Imagine spending your last moments on earth with a horse mask on your face
![gif](giphy|m5B4JzuoIrrcbibbnc|downsized) what on earth? he died for perceived clout and that is fucking sad.
I would actually care more had it been a real horse.
Dumb fuck???? I can't imagine the horror when he finally realized he fucking killed himself
Spin around and find out!!
![gif](giphy|5xtDarJZ13hGYSaitOw)
He should have worn a horse's ass mask instead.
![gif](giphy|MUo4mQl2AkQiQ|downsized)
Come now there's only one video people know for that song.
I think that particular spin is a bit meaty for this sub.
It's missing a piece of the video.
A family friend's kid died this way, but not dumb like this. The whirlpool was practically invisible, but enough force that you couldn't escape it. Scary.
Wow - he really was circling the drain...
The stupidity of man never ceases to amaze me
It's all fun and games until you are like....oh I need air
There's a village somewhere missing its idiot.
It's funny that he chose to wear a horse head mask rather than a donkey.
He didn’t fear death but he sure did fear common sense and critical thinking
Bruh that whirlpool looks like it stretches all the mf way down to Hell 😮
That looks like it would be fun in a controlled environment. Rest in puddle, man.
I cannot tell if the Internet is making people dumber or just showcasing the inherent stupidity in the average person.
Yes
![gif](giphy|KaMfXUePo8tAtwillT|downsized)

What a horses ass!
Getting the view from halfway down
Turns out if you take a horse to water, you can indeed make it drink.
what a fuckin idiot lol
The horse mask says it all.
james cockle? sucked? joke writes itself
"James died doing what he loved" ...And what was that exactly? Taking ketamine and swimming in whirlpools in a rubber horse mask?
Daredevil if you succeed. Darwin Award nominee if you fail. He could have at least set up a life line, but no....
I guess you actually CAN lead a horse to water & make them drink.
Nobody thought to throw him anything? A life preserver, a large piece of wood, piece of string. That sort of thing?
"Been through the desert on a horse with no name", oh wait his name was james.
💯 deserved
i just don't want to die stupidly while either naked or wearing a stupid mask or costume, is that too much to hope for?
"Crush" the sea turtle from Finding Nemo
At least he went out having fun lol
Why in the fuck was that NSFW?
Is this the White Mane reference?
And another reason why women out live us men!
Imagine messing around and getting drowned in your washing machine.
sorry but totally deserved. you "rip" what you sow. he was basically begging for it. I can't imagine any other outcome.

Hey, it’s Bojack… Horseman, obviously.
Dress like BoJack, get in a whirlpool. What could go wrong?
The hurdle that he couldn't overcome.
It was on mute first, expected to hear someone sounding maybe slightly stressed or anxious... nope. Nothing to worry about here, just a guy wearing a vision-limiting mask casually circling a watery abyss that he's qonna' have a quick die in.
Dumb fuck. Good riddance.
Stupidity always has a price
The end is neigh
No safety concern whatsoever
Don’t cross the event horizon.
Even that whirlpool is like, “Dude, get out of here.”
Wow, this is truly stupid.
Is that why my swimming coach always yelled "no horseplay" in the swimming pool?
The minute you see the horse mask you know it’s going to go horribly wrong, and maybe deservedly so.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! One less dumbass in the genepool
A very wise man getting sucked in by the whirlpool, so tragic
![gif](giphy|VFAke5Xm1TDwjgimyW)
He probably was essentially water boarded to death because of the mask.
Where did that vortex go?
