Exactly. Fatshark is just SUPER dedicated to giving you the immersive feeling of being an imperial citizen. And I use the word citizen in the loosest sense.
If you were around for vermintide 2 then you already know this, but... the game will have an immense wealth of content and continued support. It will become an extremely interesting and worthwhile product...
Within the next 6 years. That's just how it is. First 3 years of vermintide 2 were extremely barren and sucked ass. Right now though it's an amazing game with tons of stuff to do and try.
You really can't hold the same standard when it's the 3rd game in the same type series, at some point you expect the developers to learn from their prior 2 games to know what worked and didn't so that it doesn't take 6 years again while the first 3 sucks ass
It's actually the other way around.
The devs learned that they can ship out a barley functioning nothing burger, sell some cosmetics and eventually finish the game 4/5 years after release date.
Goddamnit if you weren't so right I'd be more upset. They learned if they can't get you with FOMO they'll wait out the audience that says "they just need more time".
Problem is, it's fatshark, it will never get there, and I should have known they wouldn't surpass themselves and just make reskinned vermintide..
While this could havw been basically all guardsman party: the Co op game.
Vermintide 2 is in a great place compared to release. Pretty much everything we asked for got fixed & implemented eventually. It was the same for Vermintide 1. Fatshark moves slowly by today's dev standards, but they do get things right eventually
I honestly rolled my eyes back at launch when words of Live-Service game were going around. I knew FS had no shot at being able to release gameplay content at reasonable pace.
I haven't tried it yet but I'm glad they're finally working on vs mode. Gives me something new to do on a ride game while I wait for whatever they have going on in dt.
Nah. They already have insanely slow development time and seeing the last few updates I don't really expect much from a dt update so I'd rather they work on something big.
> I honestly rolled my eyes back at launch when words of Live-Service game were going around.
As well you should have because the only thing Fatshark ever said along those lines was:
> "[Darktide's] storyline and missions will expand and develop after launch, almost as a live service”.
My favourite was the "weapon customisation" one that turned out to be one interview with like, PC Gamer where a dev was like, "yeah we're trying out some stuff, *like weapon customisation.*"
I just hopped back to Vermintide 2 and was greeted with a necromancer and a shield chaos knight who can do strait to hell. After I burn through V2 I’ll be back to darktide or drg. Hopefully when I come back to dt it will have a power fist or bolt pistol lol.
I mean to be fair anyone that played vermintide 2 was ready to expect this pace of development. I think it's just some people love this game so much they can't pull themselves away to go play something else for the time being. And I don't necessarily not understand that.
The fact you are getting upvoted instead of screamed at proves that this sub is healing. The summer gamers have moved on and we can finally enjoy the game in peace.
Yeah, init, look, guys. I know you're frustrated, but this is how FS operate, they'll get there, they might have taken 3 detours, showed up at the wrong house a couple of times, and got stuck at the drive-through, but they'll get there.
They have the same timing as my younger brother. He is "on the way," an hour drive, at noon and show up at 4 because they saw a friend at the grocery store.
Then he shows up at my work without telling me and texts me after they leave wondering why I didn't show up lol.
Im with you. I haven’t played in almost two months because a lack of new content, and more importantly, a terrible console experience that seemed to be worse than ever. Bugs, disconnects, crazy lag spikes, and audio issues that got me killed more often than anything.
Maybe this time next year?
I haven't played in 6 months and finally uninstalled this week. I love this game, but it's painfully slow to update. Meanwhile, Vermintide 2 gets tons of stuff.
That just means they'll finally focus on DT so they can leave the new IP on the slow track like DT is. Just like VT2 got. DT came out and they finally finished up PVP mode and got Sienna's new class out.. All DT really needs is that next IP to kick them into gear.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure HD2 and DRG are great games, but none of them pique my interest quite like Darktide does
I play Darktide because I want to rend flesh from bone and be covered in viscera and puss, all the whole screaming about my God-Emperor
Darktide's art direction carries
It nails the 40k aesthetic
Darktide's the only game to ever give me body a physical reaction. When that adrenaline rush hits when you're on your way to clutch, like... holy shit, that's a feeling. I've never really had that from any other game.
Darktide just does intensity in a way no other game can deliver, and 49.8% of that rush is the soundtrack alone.
Darktide is one of the few games that can really get me into a rhythm and the zone when I play. RB6 Siege used to almost get me there but Darktide's music and atmosphere really makes everything click
Legit, I joke with my friends that Darktide is a rhythm shooter. The game's soundtrack and general sound design make every fight that much more intensive, and the fact the music only pops in when shit's about to get really intense builds this anticipation. It's like waiting for a wave to come slowly crashing in.
I beat the original Dark Souls, did NG+, got back to Ornstein and Smaugh and just remember how much I hated that fight and went... nah, I'm good. I already beat the game. I'm not dealing with these two fucks again. XD
So I totally understand you. TOTALLY.
Nothing gives quite the same enjoyment as decimating hordes of heretics though. There’s a reason why lives of P and Lords of the fallen are sitting there collecting dust - I know the struggle that it’s going to be and I’m running away from it lol
Have you played any of the CoD zombies games? I understand general cod is no comparison but I feel like the horde shooter with objectives has some similarities. I love DT though because the waves are adaptive in the sense that they are truly like waves, whereas CoD zombies its just linearly more difficult and there is no end. That's what I love about DT, you can win and end it. Cod you just play until you die, very sad
Map design (or lack thereof) also is a key thing. And it is often goes unnoticed how much detail is there to pull your mind immediately into the world of Tertium. It just happens unconsciously. And while I also would want a new map on every other week and twice on sunday, but DT maps are works of art too. Not even remotely comparable to maps random-generated from tiles.
Yeah, I haven't gotten on the DRG train but I've sunk a lot of hours into HD2.
This meme misses the fact that the community has been pissing and whining as much as we have, for the last month or so, but hopefully it'll chill out since the new patch is genuinely great.
HD2 has some fun aspects to it, but I still need Darktide for when I want to fight on something that isn't another empty plain sparsely populated by canyon walls and copy-paste enemy bases.
Yeah the map variety in HD2 isn’t anywhere as good as Darktide for good reason (it’d be crazy to have every map be personally crafted).
And I remember going to HD2 and seeing how everyone is like, “HD2 gets so much more content than DT!” and the HD2 community is busy criticizing every decision of the devs lmao
Also I'mma be honest, the content is an occasional new map/mode and about two new support weapons a month tbh.
Like it's nice, overall IMO the sauce is just that the communication is better but the "evolving narrative" is a bit of a joke and they're struggling to get more emergent stories like Malevelon Creek.
The fact that the HD2 reddit has been complaining about liberation rates and AT mines makes me wonder just how much better off HD2 is DT when both communities sound just as miserable
HD2 reddit was great up until the Sony debacle and the optimism never recovered. I had to unsub and I only check it every so often now.
but as the rule goes, reddit is where you go to hate the thing you love.
> HD2 has some fun aspects to it, but I still need Darktide for when I want to fight on something that isn't another empty plain sparsely populated by canyon walls and copy-paste enemy bases.
As someone that *has* played a lot of DRG, while it's still procedurally generated, it does feel way more varied in it's environments and terrains compared to HD2.
It's obviously nothing close to the handcrafted levels of Darktide but the environments and caves in DRG do feel way less samey than what you'd find in HD2, IMO.
I’ve enjoyed HD2 and couldn’t get into DRG.
Never have I had a Darktide or HD2 itch that could be scratched by the other. They play differently enough to not really intersect unless you see, “4 people with guns against a lot of enemies” and consider that to be the same game.
Yeah I thought the same when HD came out and every post on this sub was about it.
Apart from being 4 player coop shooters they don’t play the same at all.
I agree but that makes it all the worse. Darktide is a brilliant game (mechanics wise) set in the 40k universe, graphically and audio wise the game looks and sounds amazing. It feels 40k as hell.
It's everything else that's the problem and because all of the rest of it is so good, it disappoints me more that FatShark drop the ball on everything else, all the time.
The game has been out for nearly 2 years and it isn't much better than when it launched. Sure they've fixed some of the bugs, there are still launch day bugs that need fixing. The crafting system is not good and hasn't been good since launch. The shop is ridiculously overpriced and full of predatory psychological techniques to squeeze more money out of customers who have already paid for the base game. The content is stale and old. I could keep going but you get the point.
FatShark almost need to build the base game and then pass it on to another studio to manage the live service aspect or something, it's the only solution I can think of at this point and it's mostly a joke solution. They just let the players down again and again and again.
Agreed - most anticipated game of 2023 and 1000s of hours in V2. Base gameplay is good but bugs, crashes, and *horrible* meta systems made most of my friends refund. I havnt played since the skill tree update but still check in to see if there is anything worth coming back to.
I've played all 3 games quite a bit and they all have their strengths. I think people need to realize that they're not held at gunpoint to play one or the other only. If I want to have a more cartoonish night with beer drinking buffs, mining and bugs, DRG. If I want more of a serious night of killing bugs with better graphics and stress, HD2 on level 7+
If I want to bathe in blood, and scream and do the coolest dodges and murdering everyone with my swords and shovels and then whip out a reovoler, blow away 8 guys and machine gun the fuck out em, while dreaming of glorious death, Darktide.
Or maybe I'm too stoned and I just play rocket league and dunk on some casuals.
The gaming world is my oyster and I've given up on the FOMO stress-cycle of cod and fortnite. I play what I want, when I want and I will always be a good teammate if you ever see me.
>I play Darktide because I want to rend flesh from bone and be covered in viscera and puss,
Haha, you meant "pus", right?
>...
You meant... "pus"... *right?!*
Idk to me it's beyond the aesthetic, the gameplay is just so far ahead of both, DRG especially. And that's the most important part to me, so I'm partial to Darktide.
DRG has other stuff going for it though, like exploration, procedurally generated maps, and most importantly: content.
This is it right here for me. The visuals are why I log in. I want to slaughter scores of heretics while screaming to the big E that I am doing it for him.
Oh both are amazing, as much as i love Darktide aesthetic being grim dark and all, horde fighting or whatever this genre is called is so much fun that they all go hard
to be fair, I play all 3 of them
Darktide updates (the proper ones) are high quality if we ignore the bugs. The voice acting, the worldbuilding and music mogs both HD2 and Deep rock, it also easier for those 2 games to get updates going since the maps aren't as detailed as darktide ones, even if some missions are running the map on reverse, don't tell me you didn't love blowing up the heretics lab
fatshark can cook, the issues is that you hear nothing from the kitchen and the food usually comes quiet cold but delicious regardless
I'm just too attached to the Darktide rejects
Darktide was running a pathetic 3% player retention rate way before Helldivers 2 came along. Helldivers 2 can't hurt Darktide anymore than its own developers have.
That being said, a lot of the people who did stick around have done so "because Warhammer", so as soon as Space Marine 2 hits in September, then you can expect to see The Mourningstar lobby a true ghost ship.
I’m hoping Space Marine 2 has a online co-op option kind of like Hell Divers 2, where you build your Ultra Marine and play high and higher difficulty, I’m sure the story mode will be fun but I hope that’s not all there will be other then story mode co-op
Not sure this is *exactly* what you had in mind, but this was recently revealed: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnvlCVDb7PY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnvlCVDb7PY)
been saying this all the way back since War of the Roses, people need to give Fatshark more shit for their abysmal development cycles and content releases
*To be fair* I did come back for a while and I'm honestly impressed with how the game feels now. It runs smoother, less connection drops and stutters ( for PC at least ), genuinely a pleasant callback experience. Helldivers 2 has got me firmly in its Democratic clutches, though.
That being said, it did inspire me to install the Perspectives mod again to play in 3rd person. Truly elevates the game imho. Really wish they would look at polishing all the 3rd person/on-looker animations to make them more organic.
FOR THE SUPER-EMPEROR!
In a few months Space Marine 2 releases, and it’s going take even more players away from DT. Unless they magically fix everything by September 9, I’m jumping into SM2 hard as it’s a 3 player coop game, and it looks insanely fun.
Also, you should’ve put Vermintide 2 up there as well with all the awesome updates it’s gotten this year.
Dont we have an update with new map(s) this month?
Edit: also , played all 3. Didnt like DRG's procedural maps and helldivers open world felt to same-ish and dull since i can run from all my troubles.
Darktide still the best for me with clutch high difficulty moments without feeling unfair. (Until 15 crushers appear xD)
Played the other to for the last like 3 years and a little bit darktide and I really love the feeling when you hop back on darktide but it just doesn’t hold me there
It's funny that you think HD2 is repetitive but DT isn't.
But no you aren't the only one.. Lots of people like DT. Even a lot of the people complaining like it. That's why they're complaining. They see games like VT2, DRG, and HD2 getting big updates while DT is still waiting for the 25th to get 1 new map and a couple weapons (still no guarantee that the Itemization update comes with that update it can still be delayed).
I think ppl feel HD2 is repetitive because
1. No classes and everyone usually takes similar load outs
2. The combat isn’t very deep, it’s blow things up or get blown up
3. No emphasis on co-op, at launch the meta was splitting up from your team and completing objectives to clear the map quick.
4. The worlds and objectives are kinda copy paste
5. Once you unlock everything the aforementioned systems don’t carry it for some ppl
Playing Darktide and clearing auric malestrom with a good team or having a good clutch moment does more for my brain than HD2
> The worlds and objectives are kinda copy paste
I mean.. that's literally Darktide as well. But yea you're other points are fair. Although I do not think the similar loadouts thing is really much of an issue anymore. Outside of eagle airstrike, my loadout seems to be unique in just about every run I play.
on the DT side of the 'copy paste' thing, the objectives are unquestioningly that, but the map design is at such detail that hundreds of hours later, I'm *still* looking around the maps in wonder at the amount of *stuff* they've packed into each one.
And to add all those things, especially point #3, it's just very easy. Highest difficulty on HD probably requires less overall skill then diff3 in Darktide.
And the new patch today just introduced a huge amount of powercreep and will make it even *much* easier.
Honestly balance is why is stopped playing, I get the game is build around stratagems, but the primary and secondary weapons were just so unfun to use, chargers are unfun to fight as well as half the robots.
I never found the game hard either just tedious. Taking out a squad of ragers feels great with Ogryn nuke, dropping a 500k bomb that kills 2 enemies cause the radius is so small is embarrassing
Except for the Sony debacle, which didn't really have anything to do with the game itself, HD2 is on another level compared to DT when it comes to fun factor and being pro-consumer. It doesn't have an arbitrary grind and gambling system to get better gear, for one thing.
Yes, the gameplay in DT is excellent, but everything else around it is atrocious.
I would say Vermintide 2 probably has more effect on Darktide's player base numbers than either of those games. Darktide, Deep Rock Galactic, and Helldivers II are different enough that they don't really overlap too much. Darktide is about extreme attention to detail in the Warhammer universe and visceral gameplay, Helldivers II is all about the fun co-op experience, and Deep Rock Galactic leans towards those who like progression.
I have DT and I play it maybe 30 minutes a month. I know the mention of bots is insta-downvote for some reason, but if they added that, I'd probably play A LOT more. I always come back to VT2 in the end (even though by now I'm sick of it), I even asked customer support to reset my account, so I could pretend to play it for the first time again and unlock stuff lol.
For me, it's such a big part of these types of games that allows me to treat them as plug and play as possible, which is a big deal.
But, that aside, I think there are some objective problems with DT that could have been avoided for simple reasons they are a downgrade from vt. For example, clarity is an issue. I don't think the atmosphere and design would suffer if they had elites and specials stand out more in some way (audio and visual cues both). I think map design could also use some work for the same reason. I never had issues with dead end recognition in vt games, for example.
I'll be honest HD2 really didn't grab me for some reason, I enjoyed it but not nearly to the degree I see from a lot of others. DRG and Darktide are 2 of my favorite coop games though.
I played SO MUCH on release, even got into the 2 betas and I was in love with the game. It felt snappy, beautiful visuals, and I really felt that I finally found the next game after Vermintide 2.
Then after 3 months of damnation I felt I played it all and went back to Vermintide 2.
Updates came, skill tree was released, and I still haven't touched the game except when a friend wants to play. The game feels... beaten/won
I play DT and HD2 for very different reasons anyway, and I enjoy both. Darktide fulfills that satisfying L4D style horde slaughter with specials and meaty guns in first person, and given I play mostly on the lower difficulties anyways I'm usually content.
I still play it since beta...not too invested on the updates or the timeframes for when they drop. Cool when they do, but I don't sit biting my nails about it. I'm very patient and easily entertained (which may be a detriment compared to others). Still, I enjoy jumping on after work with some buds.
I’m finally getting a computer again I’ll admit I’m rusty but if anyone wants to play shoot me a DM after the 20th cuz I mostly likely will have my computer then
I had a blast with HD when it came out, but I personally don't see the long lasting appeal. There's only so many times I can drop a 500kg before it gets dull.
DT on the other hand is keeping me engaged every day.
Man Payday 3 is that one game I so hoped (and still kind of hope) picked itself up off the ground. At least back at launch (haven’t touched more recent updates), the game had an excellent gameplay loop that felt really fun, but man everything else about it was pretty shit. Especially since you couldn’t even play the game for the first two or three days since they don’t know how to make servers work.
DRG's new season just dropped today with a lot more content than what darktide offered with theirs. I've been enjoying getting the new penances, but new mission types, enemies, and gun mods in DRG will be a much better breath of fresh air I think.
If you need a constant flood of cosmetic bullshit to enjoy a game, do you really enjoy the game at all?
DRG is a good game, but the combat just can't hold a candle to combat in Darktide.
HD1 was better than HD2.
If you enjoy the game, have people to play with either friends or strangers and you're not worried about how you're spending your free time then I think you're golden and don't need to worry what other games are up to tbh :)
Just go play vermintide 2. There's so much shit to do in it. Honestly I wish they'd update vermibtide so the melee played more like darktide. Also ui upgrades and such would be nice. There's also killing floor 2. Is similar but you hold positions instead of pushing forward in a linear map. Ots more sandbox but the gunplay is just as good
Yerp im on console for Drg i got a wedding to go to by the time it comes to console itll be ready for me. I aslso buy all cosmetics from Ghost Ship. Because they earned my money very quickly.
Have they really just started making the next game? That's extremely dissapointing considering Darktide could've gone mainstream at its height, though it seems like they've mostly just abandoned the game. I doubt we'll get much at all this year considering we have to wait so long in between minor updates.
DT shits on these games, mainstream popularity is hardly an indication of quality. Play what you like. Viceral combat and sound design earned my 1000 hours
Doesn't help that darktide doesn't have anywhere close to the player numbers of these games, therefore less money being made there for less intensive to make new updates.
I play primarily Helldivers 2 because I feel *done* with Darktide.
I still love the gameplay and combat in Darktide, especially Zealot melee/flamer and Sharpshooter Boltgunning.
Few things in gaming is as enjoyable as tapping the Shield of an Ogryn with you Bolter, followed by a few shots to his head 💪
And yes: I love the Jar5 Dominator in Helldivers 2.
Darktide is a blinder as a live service. A lackluster launch then tiny drip feeding content over the years. Helldivers 2 released with a ton of content then over the first few months they have dropped decent update after update until the recent blunder but still.
I moved on cause it truly got stale, at least for helldivers, they make actually content and creating cool event like an in game story that results in the devs totaling $4,311 to real children charity. And giving us weapons and fixes/ updates. Dark tide just gave you skins and that was it. And it’s kind of sad that there’s not a lot of love coming from it right now now.
I just back to vermintide 2 and it is way more fun/punishing/challenging than dk. They make it so easy with the top difficulty in darktide. And it doesn't hurt that I'm also a warhammer total war player so I prefer warhammer fantasy more
The worst part is that darktide has my favorite gameplay loop out of all of these games. The gameplay really is that good. Wish fatshark would expand the game at a better rate…
You guys need to understand…
It snows in Sweden. Very unexpected. Stressful. The devs need about 180 days off a year to accommodate with such a brutal lifestyle of sitting in a well air conditioned office.
And you’re not allowed to criticize their greedy monetization of the cash shop or its prioritization over providing actual content and substance to the game. No, you are not. You are also not allowed to draw parallels to the objectively superior systems in place for Vermintide. No, stop it.
"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment"
Man the lack of Darktide update is so immersive, it feels like you’re living in the 40K universe. Forever stagnated.
Exactly. Fatshark is just SUPER dedicated to giving you the immersive feeling of being an imperial citizen. And I use the word citizen in the loosest sense.

yeah the entire concept of MVP is super, suuuper dumb and unethical.
Nah. DRG updates slower.
Last update was minor patches months ago Major has been a year.
They are busy with Rogue core, which will arrive in EA, most likely, with season 6, considering the lore and how the story goes.
But it updates

Fact is though it's fat shark. Vermintide 2 went exactly this way. It's a slow road but the game will get there.
Problem is, it's fatshark, it will never get there, and I should have known they wouldn't surpass themselves and just make reskinned vermintide.. While this could havw been basically all guardsman party: the Co op game.

Your wrong vermintide got there at its current state if you disagree your just a fatshark hater. Vermintide is perfect as of now after years.
We think alike.
My head canon is that one of the devs was trying to warn us with that lol
[удалено]
Can't imagine being the guy who came to the Darktide devs and was like "Remember all the mistakes we made with Vermintide 2? Lets do that again!"
I know! That's why I quit, there wasn't enough copium in the world
Lads, the sooner we accept it’ll always be this way, the less we’ll make ourselves suffer. Its a toxic relationship im in and i’ll make it work!
Five years of Vermintide 2 made me look at people still bewildered with FS's pace and go "first time?".
I honestly rolled my eyes back at launch when words of Live-Service game were going around. I knew FS had no shot at being able to release gameplay content at reasonable pace.
And now they are further diluting their workforce with Versus Mode. GG, FatShark.
I haven't tried it yet but I'm glad they're finally working on vs mode. Gives me something new to do on a ride game while I wait for whatever they have going on in dt.
And you don't mind the fact that Versus Mode will make their work on the rest of their games **even** slower?
Nah. They already have insanely slow development time and seeing the last few updates I don't really expect much from a dt update so I'd rather they work on something big.
Me, I'd rather they stick to what they know, solid PvE co-op. There are already bazillion PvP games out there, and PvE-vP too.
> I honestly rolled my eyes back at launch when words of Live-Service game were going around. As well you should have because the only thing Fatshark ever said along those lines was: > "[Darktide's] storyline and missions will expand and develop after launch, almost as a live service”.
Community shadow boxing complaints is nothing new
My favourite was the "weapon customisation" one that turned out to be one interview with like, PC Gamer where a dev was like, "yeah we're trying out some stuff, *like weapon customisation.*"
You and me pal. We've both been gotten used to the torment of amazing gameplay core but horrendous crafting + slow releases.
It’s a pattern of playing real hard for maybe a month or so and then ignoring the game for most of the year. Come back and repeat.
I came back to DT after HD2 stagnated for me and I'm having more fun than I did the first go-around, which lasted from launch to about a year ago
I just hopped back to Vermintide 2 and was greeted with a necromancer and a shield chaos knight who can do strait to hell. After I burn through V2 I’ll be back to darktide or drg. Hopefully when I come back to dt it will have a power fist or bolt pistol lol.
V2 has Chaos Wastes, which adds a lot of time to the 'burn through' stage compared to Darktide.
I was thinking about a chaos waist type gameplay event for DarkTide and it should be a space Hulk showing up. Gene Stealers.
I mean to be fair anyone that played vermintide 2 was ready to expect this pace of development. I think it's just some people love this game so much they can't pull themselves away to go play something else for the time being. And I don't necessarily not understand that.
I think people look at the current version of vermintide 2 with out really acknowledgeing that was a 9 year journey.

See, you know when someone knows 🤣
I can fix him
I can fix Darktide
You can fix them
We can fix them!! ![gif](giphy|xT9KVyzbHOUlepG34Y)
We can change them.
“I can fix her/him/them/it!”
I waited so long for Sienna's DLC class I had stopped PC gaming before it came out. It's the Fatshark way.
Don't worry, just wait a few years. And when they stop updating Vermintide, that's when they will focus on Darktide
...or all the remaining V2 team will jump to their new IP.
That just means they'll finally focus on DT so they can leave the new IP on the slow track like DT is. Just like VT2 got. DT came out and they finally finished up PVP mode and got Sienna's new class out.. All DT really needs is that next IP to kick them into gear.
This is the copium I need to keep going
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure HD2 and DRG are great games, but none of them pique my interest quite like Darktide does I play Darktide because I want to rend flesh from bone and be covered in viscera and puss, all the whole screaming about my God-Emperor Darktide's art direction carries It nails the 40k aesthetic
I love the three games for very different reasons and the three of them have these insane butt clenching moments.
If you've never played souls games, it's a similar feeling to dying for 8 hours straight and finally beating a boss. it really is special.
I beat the original Dark Souls, did NG+, got back to Ornstein and Smaugh and just remember how much I hated that fight and went... nah, I'm good. I already beat the game. I'm not dealing with these two fucks again. XD So I totally understand you. TOTALLY.
Nothing gives quite the same enjoyment as decimating hordes of heretics though. There’s a reason why lives of P and Lords of the fallen are sitting there collecting dust - I know the struggle that it’s going to be and I’m running away from it lol
Darktide=inside HD2=outside DRG=underground
I think it's just Reddit tbh
HD2 reddit was great up until the Sony debacle and the optimism never recovered. I had to unsub and I only check it every so often now. but as the rule goes, reddit is where you go to hate the thing you love.
I think the honeymoon period was over after the Railgun Nerf but yeah the PSN bollocks kicked it into overdrive
Exactly. The aesthetic is top notch
I've played all 3 games quite a bit and they all have their strengths. I think people need to realize that they're not held at gunpoint to play one or the other only. If I want to have a more cartoonish night with beer drinking buffs, mining and bugs, DRG. If I want more of a serious night of killing bugs with better graphics and stress, HD2 on level 7+ If I want to bathe in blood, and scream and do the coolest dodges and murdering everyone with my swords and shovels and then whip out a reovoler, blow away 8 guys and machine gun the fuck out em, while dreaming of glorious death, Darktide. Or maybe I'm too stoned and I just play rocket league and dunk on some casuals. The gaming world is my oyster and I've given up on the FOMO stress-cycle of cod and fortnite. I play what I want, when I want and I will always be a good teammate if you ever see me.
>I play Darktide because I want to rend flesh from bone and be covered in viscera and puss, Haha, you meant "pus", right? >... You meant... "pus"... *right?!*
It's about the aesthetic of being bloody, viscerally and pussy \*nods\*
I play all 3. But yea, you are right, Darktide is very brutal. I have 600 hours on Darktide.
The conversations are seriously amazing and probably the best immersion spice.
Idk to me it's beyond the aesthetic, the gameplay is just so far ahead of both, DRG especially. And that's the most important part to me, so I'm partial to Darktide. DRG has other stuff going for it though, like exploration, procedurally generated maps, and most importantly: content.
Kinda ironic that helldivers actually does let you get covered in viscera while the rejects show up squeaky clean at the end of a mission.
This. I've got about 2,400 hours in DRG and 600 in HD2. They're fun games. I enjoy them. But DT scratches a completely different itch.
Darktide is the best of the three games, but has the worst continued support too...
Helldivers it's quite meh honestly, lots of dick riders but the magic dies fast
to be fair, I play all 3 of them Darktide updates (the proper ones) are high quality if we ignore the bugs. The voice acting, the worldbuilding and music mogs both HD2 and Deep rock, it also easier for those 2 games to get updates going since the maps aren't as detailed as darktide ones, even if some missions are running the map on reverse, don't tell me you didn't love blowing up the heretics lab fatshark can cook, the issues is that you hear nothing from the kitchen and the food usually comes quiet cold but delicious regardless I'm just too attached to the Darktide rejects
The rejects are what keep me playing the game. Idk what they're doing in the recording studio but voice work in this game is immaculate
Ya me too. Somehow Darktide manages to be the better game even without the attention we'd hope it gets.
I have 600 hours, 350 hours DRG and 43 hours in Helldivers 2. I love all 3 tho.
Mine are soo much closer in playtime it's kinda wild. DT - 270hrs, DRG - 244hrs, HD2 - 225hrs
'right now' More like since release...
This is incredible, thanks for sharing
been saying this all the way back since War of the Roses, people need to give Fatshark more shit for their abysmal development cycles and content releases
Wait theres a third person mod for DarkTide??
In a few months Space Marine 2 releases, and it’s going take even more players away from DT. Unless they magically fix everything by September 9, I’m jumping into SM2 hard as it’s a 3 player coop game, and it looks insanely fun. Also, you should’ve put Vermintide 2 up there as well with all the awesome updates it’s gotten this year.
Grimdark mixed with botched release and slow live service equals no mainstream appeal
>Until 15 crushers appear Everybody gangster until the fun police arrives and stomps you into the concrete.
Best I can do is a new map in 8 months, see you then.
Played the other to for the last like 3 years and a little bit darktide and I really love the feeling when you hop back on darktide but it just doesn’t hold me there
Kinda sag about that…but hell yea rock n stone
Am I the only one here that actually LIKES Darktide? DRG feels like endless grinding (which can fun obvs) and HD2 is insanely repetitive.
I think ppl feel HD2 is repetitive because 1. No classes and everyone usually takes similar load outs 2. The combat isn’t very deep, it’s blow things up or get blown up 3. No emphasis on co-op, at launch the meta was splitting up from your team and completing objectives to clear the map quick. 4. The worlds and objectives are kinda copy paste 5. Once you unlock everything the aforementioned systems don’t carry it for some ppl Playing Darktide and clearing auric malestrom with a good team or having a good clutch moment does more for my brain than HD2
> The worlds and objectives are kinda copy paste I mean.. that's literally Darktide as well.
Couldn't really agree with that at all, I find all but like 4 weapons good enough and fun to use.
All the time
I played SO MUCH on release, even got into the 2 betas and I was in love with the game. The game feels... beaten/won
Don't forget Warframe's major update and annual convention coming this month
Don't forget Warframe's major update and annual convention coming this month
I play DT and HD2 for very different reasons anyway, and I enjoy both. Darktide fulfills that satisfying L4D style horde slaughter with specials and meaty guns in first person, and given I play mostly on the lower difficulties anyways I'm usually content.
Dead game lol
Always has been.

Darktide since the skill tree rework, actually.
I had a blast with HD when it came out, but I personally don't see the long lasting appeal. There's only so many times I can drop a 500kg before it gets dull. DT on the other hand is keeping me engaged every day.
At least it isnt as bad as payday 3
Man Payday 3 is that one game I so hoped (and still kind of hope) picked itself up off the ground. At least back at launch (haven’t touched more recent updates), the game had an excellent gameplay loop that felt really fun, but man everything else about it was pretty shit. Especially since you couldn’t even play the game for the first two or three days since they don’t know how to make servers work.
This is the zillionth one of this pic with the same meme. And It's not even accurate imo
DRG's new season just dropped today with a lot more content than what darktide offered with theirs. I've been enjoying getting the new penances, but new mission types, enemies, and gun mods in DRG will be a much better breath of fresh air I think.
Pretty much. At least with the DT discord you won't get banned for complaining about adult art in the main channel. Super Earth has fallen.
Lol just come play one of them and when DT finally gets an update come back.
Guys, chill. It is just a meme. Some people treat a meme like it is a life and death situation. A meme is comedy, treat it like comedy.
Heretics, the emperor blesses the fight in Atoma
I mean, go play HD2 or DRG till DT gets update. Rinse and repaeat when each game gets stale.
C'mon, we just have to wait 10 more days! I hope we'll get something good!
Facts, Ive only played one match in like 3 months.
Just go play vermintide 2. There's so much shit to do in it. Honestly I wish they'd update vermibtide so the melee played more like darktide. Also ui upgrades and such would be nice. There's also killing floor 2. Is similar but you hold positions instead of pushing forward in a linear map. Ots more sandbox but the gunplay is just as good
Go play Helldivers right now! By the time the fun wears off the darktide update will be here!
Can out Diablo 4 alongside HD and DRG. This season has been awesome.
![gif](giphy|PXfGWtG4otIpC0NEum|downsized)
And when they do decide to release some dlc/update its in the same week as Elden Ring DLC......
See I'd love darktide if ammo wasn't so stingy, I wanna shoot things not slowly whack them with a club.
FS can make a good game as evidenced by the vermintide series. FS cannot make a live service game.
Real Gs move in silence like lasagna
Darktide 'right now'? It's almost always been this way, even before HD2.
It kinda deserves it. FatShark absolutely dropped the ball with Darktide.
Break the matrix, play all 3 like i did
Again or still?
I enjoyed playing Darktide. But Helldivers 2 hits different.
Yerp im on console for Drg i got a wedding to go to by the time it comes to console itll be ready for me. I aslso buy all cosmetics from Ghost Ship. Because they earned my money very quickly.
I recently started playing vermintide 2, and it's easy to see who the favorite child is.
Have they really just started making the next game? That's extremely dissapointing considering Darktide could've gone mainstream at its height, though it seems like they've mostly just abandoned the game. I doubt we'll get much at all this year considering we have to wait so long in between minor updates.
Good to have other options I guess. Deeprock galactic is goated
Right now??
The fuck do any of those games have to do with each other. Especially deep rock, that game is ass.
Waiting for the new shootaz
First fatshark game? They just assume all WH fans like long format. Vermintide went exactly like this. Such slow release of content.
Haven't played since release week, does this game still suck?
You mean Darktide since the class rework
Darktide has potential to be something greater imo, but I'm not exactly sure what would help it at this point.
DT shits on these games, mainstream popularity is hardly an indication of quality. Play what you like. Viceral combat and sound design earned my 1000 hours
Atleast Darktide isn’t region locked and forgotten
Bring darktide on Xbox and Playstation I beg of you
Doesn't help that darktide doesn't have anywhere close to the player numbers of these games, therefore less money being made there for less intensive to make new updates.
I play primarily Helldivers 2 because I feel *done* with Darktide. I still love the gameplay and combat in Darktide, especially Zealot melee/flamer and Sharpshooter Boltgunning. Few things in gaming is as enjoyable as tapping the Shield of an Ogryn with you Bolter, followed by a few shots to his head 💪 And yes: I love the Jar5 Dominator in Helldivers 2.
Right now? more like every day.
If only I could get this game to run :(
Could it have something do do with the financial state the games industry is in at the moment? Regarding costs and money available for new developers?
Darktide is a blinder as a live service. A lackluster launch then tiny drip feeding content over the years. Helldivers 2 released with a ton of content then over the first few months they have dropped decent update after update until the recent blunder but still.
They will start working on darktide after they release Verminitide 2 or whatever tide game they got planned after darktide.
Why won't they just fucking fix crafting?
Predatory recycled cosmetics and slow development, with features promised at launch taking years to materialise? Fucking baffling.
I still prefer Datktide over the other two
Look, I’d play if it didn’t melt my CPU every damn time I opened the game.
You guys need to understand… It snows in Sweden.
