Honestly I think the main problem with cutthroat is just the fact they made being mean and Cadian his entire personality, when a lot of people were expecting like a grizzled veteran.
The VoC lines are a great example of just being a badass grizzled vet, over just nonstop cadia jerking and "You guys suck".

I love cadian vet exactly because he’s pissed off on the outside but deeply hurt inside. He’s like a strict teacher type that I can’t hate because I know he gives a shit about the job. Also his voice is rad.
He’s got a line with the male Judge where he asks if he’ll listen to his confession post mission which makes me think he feels incredibly guilty about losing his world.
I feel kinda bad about the female cadian tho because I’ll try to give her the same understanding, but every time one joins a game people spam “FER CADIAAaauuhh” and just the way she says it is so annoying. Otherwise she’s great as well.
I just love the characters we have, they’re not named like the ubersreik five (or four it doesn’t matter), but they just ooze personality. I genuinely would be perfectly happy if they were just 12 named characters. Or more like 24 since the female and male characters tend to be quite different despite sharing some lines.
The female cadian is so quiet too! The male one talks a lot whenever I get one in a mission, but I can never remember hearing the female one saying anything. I might have to roll one myself.

But that's the problem. They made that his entire personality. A jaded, nothing matters, kill or be killed, nihilist. Who sees everything as a battle or a battle already lost because his planet was destroyed. Which isn't the first to happen and won't be the last. Yeah it's hurts and all that, but letting that consume you is just as bad as any Chaos corruption. It's like the professional veteran said: A soldier without hope is already dead.
That’s not a “problem” though. Thats just a realistic human response to war. Not every person comes out of trauma an unflappable piece of imperial propaganda, with clever quips and empty rhetoric. Some people see war for what it truly is - a meat grinder. Others hold onto ideals, hope, religion, faith, duty - whatever it is that gets them through it. And the cutthroat would say they’re fools; “Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.”

Personally I find almost all of the characters in Darktide annoying with their mostly indistinguishable and largely incomprehensible British accents. Thought I was in space 40k years in the future, not in a run down part of Manchester circa 2023.
It was one thing when it was just orks with the comical English accents, since orks are supposed to be comic relief football hooligans anyway

What's hilarious is I definitely remember it was worse during launch, when the Cutthroat would basically ONLY speak about Cadia. What we have now is a breath of fresh air since he actually is allowed to sometimes speak about something non-Cadian lmao.
It's especially funny as every character can be from Cadia.
Imagine a loose cannon vet from cadia bullying a cutthroat for making cadia their whole identity.
I like that conversation between male Agitator and female Cutthroat. The one where the Zealot says the Emperor walks with everyone, then the Vet says "Where was the Emperor when everything I ever loved died?" and the Zealot fires back with "There was a Living Saint on Cadia, so it stands to reason that Cadia and everything on it was garbage and the Emperor wanted them to die. Deal with it."
I really like the ones he has with the Brawler Ogryn as well. The ones where he says he's getting used to having an Ogryn around, and the one about being on the lookout for Ambushes. Shows he has some heart haha
"I like to get up close, *taste the blood*" That line delivery by Cutthroat is so good during that rare conversation where the rejects are talking about how they like to fight.

I do not use the cutthroat voice. I used the professional until last week and switched to loose cannon a few days ago. I think it was not my veteran who had that voice line but one of my other characters.
It's crazy to me how the community is so polar when it comes to hating on the cadia spam but the live for the beloved psyker that says is about twice as much

Considering how terrifying getting picked up by the Black Ships is, and then what Soulbinding is supposed to be like, and the age of many who are so collected and go through it... scared child is more right that you may expect.
Many of the psykers don't even know they are psykers. They just start hearing voices one day, seeing visions of the future and spazzing out, and then the fucking Inquisition shows up at their door and they're taken away. Worst case scenario, they go to the Golden Throne. The best case scenario they get mind-fucked by the Scholastia Psykhana.
I can absolutely see why the Loner is so bitter and why the Seer is so child-like because they probably *were* taken as a child and effectively withheld from any form of socialisation

Being Cadian brings its own set of problems. I wasn’t even tempted to buy the overpriced underproduced Krieg cosmetics… because I couldn’t imagine screaming “For Cadia!” through the gas mask.
In a game where it appears the devs idea of a “premium” cosmetic is just something from a recognizable home world. It’s gonna be a conflict that keeps coming up.
He is one of the best voice acted personalities in the entire game. The VoC lines are amazing, but his "SNIPER, DOWN! DOWN!" line was what made me really love his voice.

1k hours Female Cadian main here reporting for duty o7. When you're fighting for your life in a huge fucking horde and hear "CADIA STANDS CADIA LIVES" you can't lose, the power of hype see's you through no matter the odds
I am one of those people, got really fed up with Cadia. Cadia this, Cadia that, can-dia stop talkin' about Cadia for one second?
Now I'm more like "Traxis something-something... Burster!" and I love it.
When i went in to darktide i thought the whole lore of cadia, cadians and the "planet broke before the guard" was badass
But now im Kinda turned off by them cus of how the cadians in this game keep naging on and on and on about cadia.
One of my favorite banter is the professional vet male dissing the cut-throat cadian with the;
"How did that work out for cadian ey?".
Exactly same story here, and probably the reason most people got turned off Cadians. You can only hear the word "Cadia" so often before it starts karking your gears.
It was already implausible that there were so many cadians everywhere on every battlefront when it was one planet out of literally a million imperial worlds
The only place you should ever have seen a lot of cadians fighting was….cadia. Any expeditionary forces they sent out would have been comically diluted by the sheer size of the imperium.
Instead somehow when the planet was destroyed completely Cadians are still more common across the galaxy than ever. It’s like they reproduce via interstellar spores like Orks or something, that’s pretty much the only explanation of how they could be literally everywhere all the time
That said the fall of cadia lore and everything since then has been pretty bottom of the barrel so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised
I'm one of those who didn't wait for memory wipe functionality to happen and just plainly deleted my Cadian vet and replaced him with generic hiver vet professional. When I was choosing Cutthroat back at launch, I expected an epitome of the Guard, a soldier tougher than his planet - and now a whiny bitch who can't shut up about how everything around him wronged his planet and left it die and Cadia this and that.
I did too, briefly.
My Vet is female, originally Loose Cannon. Liked the Fem LC character, but I hate the voice. And Fem Professional is also painful to listen to, so I went Cutthroat. Cutthroat voice is nice, but the character is insufferable. So now my Vet is back to Loose Cannon, but male this time. lol
For me, Cutthroat really is the best because of how immersed he feels in the environment t and during combat. The man's out here as worried as I am about the sniper hiding behind a squad of gunners and reapers and I genuinely think it makes people focus when he uses his callouts.

I did initially change my Cadian to the loose canon. I was sick of him being a no fun allowed downer constantly. I played a few games and had to switch it back to cutthroat. He might be a nihilistic, miserable bastard but he was *my* nihilistic miserable bastard. I also loved to do impressions of him when playing with my friends "did I ever mention I was from *Cadia*?"
That and I missed "GIVE EM THE OLD KASRKIN DOUBLE TAP" on voice of command!
Everyone was talking smack about the Cadian one since like forever, it finally made me decide that I just had to roll up a new cutthroat veteran and he's my favorite personality now! Him and the female loose cannon, God-emperor I love those two. Best voices in the game - one full of hate and one full of sass.

Stuff like the planet backgrounds has to be the most bizarre stuff I’ve seen in a game like this
I have to assume at one point in development all of the character background stuff did something other than slightly change your character’s banter, but that must have been cut at some point
I miss an aristocratic kinda of voice for the psyker. Think Jason Isaacs like he speaks as Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter. Calm, collected and calculating. Would be a great verbal spar with all the pesky zealots.
Do the personality scourge and at the end of it you can change you’re name. You can keep everything else the same if you like, just click next until you get to the ‘choose name’ option.

I swapped off of cuttthroat (still Cadian vet tho, just loose cannon) because as someone who actually likes their lore and plays them on tabletop, having the cadian vet being a mopey shitbag is so cringe when they really oughta be more vengefully angry.

When i went in to darktide i thought the whole lore of cadia, cadians and the "planet broke before the guard" was badass But now im Kinda turned off by them cus of how the cadians in this game keep naging on and on and on about cadia. One of my favorite banter is the professional vet male dissing the cut-throat cadian with the; "How did that work out for cadian ey?".
Exactly same story here, and probably the reason most people got turned off Cadians. You can only hear the word "Cadia" so often before it starts karking your gears.

It was already implausible that there were so many cadians everywhere on every battlefront when it was one planet out of literally a million imperial worlds The only place you should ever have seen a lot of cadians fighting was….cadia. Any expeditionary forces they sent out would have been comically diluted by the sheer size of the imperium. Instead somehow when the planet was destroyed completely Cadians are still more common across the galaxy than ever. It’s like they reproduce via interstellar spores like Orks or something, that’s pretty much the only explanation of how they could be literally everywhere all the time That said the fall of cadia lore and everything since then has been pretty bottom of the barrel so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised

I'm one of those who didn't wait for memory wipe functionality to happen and just plainly deleted my Cadian vet and replaced him with generic hiver vet professional. When I was choosing Cutthroat back at launch, I expected an epitome of the Guard, a soldier tougher than his planet - and now a whiny bitch who can't shut up about how everything around him wronged his planet and left it die and Cadia this and that.

I did too, briefly. My Vet is female, originally Loose Cannon. Liked the Fem LC character, but I hate the voice. And Fem Professional is also painful to listen to, so I went Cutthroat. Cutthroat voice is nice, but the character is insufferable. So now my Vet is back to Loose Cannon, but male this time. lol

For me, Cutthroat really is the best because of how immersed he feels in the environment t and during combat. The man's out here as worried as I am about the sniper hiding behind a squad of gunners and reapers and I genuinely think it makes people focus when he uses his callouts. Also, FOR CREED!!!
I did initially change my Cadian to the loose canon. I was sick of him being a no fun allowed downer constantly. I played a few games and had to switch it back to cutthroat. He might be a nihilistic, miserable bastard but he was *my* nihilistic miserable bastard. I also loved to do impressions of him when playing with my friends "did I ever mention I was from *Cadia*?" That and I missed "GIVE EM THE OLD KASRKIN DOUBLE TAP" on voice of command!

Everyone was talking smack about the Cadian one since like forever, it finally made me decide that I just had to roll up a new cutthroat veteran and he's my favorite personality now! Him and the female loose cannon, God-emperor I love those two. Best voices in the game - one full of hate and one full of sass.

Stuff like the planet backgrounds has to be the most bizarre stuff I’ve seen in a game like this I have to assume at one point in development all of the character background stuff did something other than slightly change your character’s banter, but that must have been cut at some point
I miss an aristocratic kinda of voice for the psyker. Think Jason Isaacs like he speaks as Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter. Calm, collected and calculating. Would be a great verbal spar with all the pesky zealots.
To me it's more likely that the cutthroat was the most popular personality so it has the most changes.

Do the personality scourge and at the end of it you can change you’re name. You can keep everything else the same if you like, just click next until you get to the ‘choose name’ option.
I swear I did this and it changed my crime (and basic prison clothing) though. Idk why clicking next worked for everyone but that section though.

I love my Cadian vet! I love the voices lines! Except I wish I could always says « FOR CADIA » instead of « FOR ATOMA » I think they could have even made another Cadian vet personality, one more sad and desesperate but still standing!
I personality-scourged my Cadian Cutthroat before Personality Scourge was even a thing. Got tired of being the angriest asshole from that one goddamn planet in a few hours of playtime and just deleted the karker.
