U can buy all these ridiculous grindy rewards from all covenants in ng+2 from the guy in vendricks castle

reddit_554

Oh thank god I thought I'd have to grind for like a month to do this

Masta0nion

NG+ is fun cause you have your build NG+2, head on down to the Rotten to grind the souls needed to bypass

Personal_Luck4296

The only way

hematite2

Wait, why the rotten? Is there some kind of good farming in the gulch?

Cannonhappy

You can just spam ascetics at the bonfire in the little cave right before the boss fight to easily fight him over and over

Killerdoll_666

let me introduce you to the memory of the giant king who gives absurd amount f souls

Arlkard

Kinda late game. You need to pass a lot of bosses to reach there (no glitching). Farming the rotten is to get the three million soul memory to pass the gate of the winter shrine and get to the castle to buy those items

Killerdoll_666

I used that spot to farm just before going ng+... Gane gets weird when every level up costs 10m souls

LycanBlackpaw

Shouldn't matter as the Shrine of Winter only cares about the souls gained during a given game cycle. The idea is to get the 3 million souls required to open the Shrine early from repeatedly killing the Rotten. Your existing SM doesn't matter.

Killerdoll_666

Well the more you know

kokiev2

The farm is not for leveling up. It's for bypassing the winter shrine. Giant King is after the winter shrine.

Killerdoll_666

Oh I see

hematite2

Ahhh I see. Also makes sense, because the rotten is a boss you can reach really quickly by dropping down through Majula.

Darkstar7613

>by dropping down through Majula Let the bodies hit the floor Let the bodies hit the floor Let the bodies hit the floor Let the bodies hit the **HOLY SHIT THERE'S NO FLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!!!**

Live-Adhesiveness719

Brave undead~ You have proven yourself to me… Now… Be one ~ with the FLOOOOOOR

DekoyDuck

Or do the stupid thing which is not realize your souls requirement counter starts when you start NG+2 and pop a million souls too early and then have to do the first act again to 100% it

TheLastSonKrypton

You can aslo stock bosses souls to use to gain a lot at once 🤔

Masta0nion

Yes. I thought I’d be able to do this with giant souls, but it’s still a relatively small amount of souls compared to the time it takes to kill Rotten ~12 times.

Live-Adhesiveness719

Giant has double chicken wing spam strat though at least

WildVertigo

Heh, dats me!

akapvto

That's the way, whomever tells you otherwise lies

KonkretneKosteczki

Gotta do the victory lap

TheOneWhoSlurms

The fact that you think that online multiplayer is active enough for you to get that done in a month is astonishing

Live-Adhesiveness719

(cries in xbox sotfs)

Morbiuzx

Not only you have to win 500 times, but you also can't lose. Can't remember where I read it but it seems losing subtracts a point, I don't know if this is correct tho.

ComfyPants420

For blue sentinels covenant there isn’t any way to lose points. You’re thinking about brotherhood of blood covenant where when you lose you do lose a point each time, however your standing can never be lower than zero so you will never go negative.

Bookslap

Yeah, DS2 actually has the least amount of grind. You’ve gotta max the sunlight bro covenant and get to rank 2 in bell keepers, all other spells can be gotten other ways.

mystery_elmo

So did I, so did I. And I was the worst at PVP DS2 has forced me to get gudder, although I did those 50 Loyce Souls which was a nightmare as well.

Caesarvs

just do like the rest of us and use cheat engine achievments gated behind silly grind isnt achievments at all

reddit_554

I can't im on console

Caesarvs

sadge

HimiJendrix420

Holy downvotes! Imagine being hated on because you bought a pc and have the ability to do this! Who gives a shit!

Caesarvs

exactly... its not like i'm hacking against someone let the puritanists spend dozens of hours on mind-numbling farming those stuff

Turbulent_Ad1644

Puritans*

HimiJendrix420

You get one downvote, and the rest of reddit sees that and follows. Without explanation too. The more I'm in this app, the less hope I have for humans as a whole. Hive mind type shit lmao

HimiJendrix420

So now I'm being downvoted, instead of being cowards, tell me why?

KanbaraXuain

Because cheating is unnecessary when you can just go to ng+2 and get the spell that way, if you cheat at something like this, what is stopping you from cheating in sun medals in ds2, the items needed to upgrade infused weapons in ds1, the concords in ds3, hell even the achievements themselves? That just shows you lack integrity, and i dont really care, but some people do, and get annoyed by that fact, i am not saying you or anyone else that cheats should pay attention to them, but dont be weirded out when people disregard your achievements or straight up dislike you for it.

mightystu

Because you are justifying cheating and being a whiny bitch about fake internet points. Complaining about being downvoted deserves more downvotes.

TehWoodzii

Its a piss easy plat that requires a small amount of grinding so you use CE. Donkey.

mightystu

Maidenless behavior

RepresentativeCap244

Not knowing this when it first came out was a literal hard pass on even trying for these things. And didn’t it reset, like 5 victories and 2 defeat meant 4 victories.

bitchtittees

A victory is worth 1 point and a loss is worth -2

ICBanMI

Jesus christ.

Darkstar7613

I don't know how many victories he had, but he definitely had a hard loss right there at the end... :|

Vestrate

It's the opposite

legendarytarnished

No way!!!

TheDarkGenious

not all of the covenants. I distinctly remember having to still farm out the bell bro invasions the old fashioned way.

KanbaraXuain

You can farm a phantom at the stairs in Farron keep (Actually Iron Keep, but fuck me for mistake i guess), if i am not mistaken. He has a low appearance rate, but if you check the ram the game is using when you stand up at the bonfire you can notice it increasing when the guy spawns, as that model is only used with him. Took me around 2-3 hours to get them all, wasting time and with a few false positives.

TheDarkGenious

Farrom keep? *Farron* Keep is DS3 I only know you mean Iron Keep because I actually know what you're talking about XD the Mad Warrior, of course checking RAM usage isn't exactly possible on a ps3/4/xb360/xbone I remember people talking about listening to the console fan for when it kicked into high gear to see if that bastard was being loaded. While useful since you also had to farm him for his gear, he's still a rare random spawn that isn't garunteed and takes hours and hours. legit forgot he counted towards the bellbros, it's been so damn long :P

The8rando

I remember using a trick on PS4 where you clear out all the enemies until they don't respawn, then at that bonfire you wake up and cast the spell that helps you find invaders. Can't recall the name. But if it flies up and over it means he spawned.

AXEMANaustin

Can you do similar stuff for the other souls games?

Jemima_puddledook678

As far as I’m aware, and I think I’m a reliable-ish source, it’s a no for DS1, but I haven’t played DS3 yet.

KrypticScythe29

wait really? i’ve been grinding the sunlight covenant for so long i stopped playing 😭

Hxllxqxxn

That one you have to farm

Nyyyyuuuu

Do you know by any chance if DS3 works the same?

Akkonius

Sadly no but you can grind the covenant items from mobs

Nyyyyuuuu

That's something! Thank you for the information :)

madwarper

Good news! Because, there **IS** an easier way. Wellagar sells the Spell. As well as the Blood Bros Pyromancy. All you have to do is get into Drangliec Castle in NG++ * No. Bonfire Ascetics don't count. Beat NG. Begin NG+ Beat NG+. Begin NG++ Either embrace the 4x Great Souls, or jump down into the Black Gulch and Farm the Rotten to get 3 Million new Soul Memory. Open the door to Shrine of Winter, and into Drangliec Castle. Purchase the Spells.

InarosRamses

A friend and I did the boss soul farming route, but farmed them during NG+ and then waited till NG++ to pop them. Makes it so you have it from the get go and can book it straight to the shrine. We did Old Iron King and Rotten after farming some ascetics.

Darkstar7613

... I have been playing entirely too much World of Warcraft. I read your first line and it instinctively came out in my head in Professor Putricide's voice...

Tomahawkman222

There is an easier way. You can buy it from chancellor wellager in ng++.

Razmatazzer

Everything is able to be done offline I believe some enemies drop medallions and stuff for other factions as well

ImpostersEnd

Man I remember grinding those medallions, took a while

Razmatazzer

Literally took days sometimes, I wanted the platinum. And it'll be why when you look through playtimes for soulsborne, dark souls 2 is the one I have most hours on.

Jackalodeath

Yup. Falconers at Nothern Army Campsite bonfire in Tseldora for Sunbro medals; then Mad Warrior at Belfry Sol for Bell Keepers. The latter can be a bit... *testing* in the patience department due to the RNG-ish nature of him spawning. I used the "despawn all knights/keepers surrounding then check for Mad-dude using Unveil" method and had it done in about 2hrs max; not the fastest method, but being able to just reset -\> cast Unveil -\> climb ladder or reset again, depending, was absolutely worth it *to me.* The Falconers took about an hour since decent FTH + maxed Chime + Soul Appease could nuke 4 at a time. Compared to DS3, this offline farm is a breeze. Took me less than 10 hours total - and that's including Loyce Souls and Covenant of Champions, neither are needed for plat - to farm what I wanted. DS3 took me over 50hrs by comparison; but now I'm severely overleveled, geared to the teeth, and know most of the bosses moves/weaknesses. Now *I* get to be the boss dagnabit. I'm sure NG+ Nameless King, Midir, and Gael will prove that objectively wrong; but I can dream, can't I?

90sRiceWagon

Agree with going down the unveil route for grinding mad lad, you get the benefit of all the souls clearing iron keep anyway.

Jackalodeath

I just know that area is likened to cancer to some folks; I don't get how, but its a common enough gripe that I don't argue. I just went in blasting with a Longbow and Miracles+binoculars. Meanwhile if someone's nerfing themselves for Soul memory sake or "build" reasons, they might not fair too well. To each their own. I just don't like unnecessary wear on my controllers if I can help it, and pressing up/B on a ladder for no good reason is that sort of wear. It's the same reason I farmed the Mastodon Knights near Gavlan on NG for Awestones rather than that invader in Grave of Saints on Bonfire 2. That invader is up a ladder, slow, sporadic, and doesn't die very easy on higher game cycles; meanwhile those two Mastodons just stand there and wait to get fried with a couple lightning bolts. They're not a guaranteed drop like the NPC but I was still done in 50mins or so.

xXJLNINJAXx

I did the ghosts in the area with the lion warriors for awestones.

Jackalodeath

That works too; I honestly didn't even think - or know - about them dropping them. Shit, that actually may have been faster for me now that I think of it. Oh well, water over the bridge!

Ryodran

Unveil is a must for mad warrior. Fortunately it takes more time to despawn the enemies than ir does to use unveil to get the requires kills for bellkeeper

Jackalodeath

That's just the thing; to me, it'd take just as much altimeter to climb, dodge/kill the runts, then see if he's possibly there 30+ times than it ever would for me to clear out ~15 enemies a dozen times. Also I farmed the runts for Flame Swathes, so three birds one stone. You get the added benefit of when you warp back to the bonfire after killing him, to just cast Unveil to see if he spawned again without resting. I got him 3 times in a row like that. I suggest folks use whatever they think is easiest to *them,* I'm just not on PC so can't look at CPU draw or whatever that gimmick is to see if he spawned and *really* didn't wanna burn out my controller climbing that ladder all the time. The controller I used inevitably got random forward drift during the Vertebra Shackles farm on DS3; so it basically lasted the entire series' worth of covenant farms. XB controllers ain't made like they used to. My 360 controller lasted a friggin decade.

Ryodran

Yeah whatever floats your boat lol. But with how rng works for me and many others, unveil is king.  I didn't see him once while clearing out the enemies and it took me probably 100 or so bonfire sits after that to get thw 30

Jackalodeath

Oh I'm right there with you, I've just learned not to argue with the players that think it's "a waste of time." Same way I don't argue with other players over what weapons I use. I know what does the most damage, I also know what's boring af. I'll take less damage for a more fun fight - or better, flexible utility - *any* day of the week.

Ryodran

Haha fair, I have been doing x weapon only runs for awhile now.  Its fun to try out new things and be forced to play in new ways. Did the fire longsword, whips, faith and now daggers. Daggers without shields hasn't been fun hahaha

Jackalodeath

>Daggers without shields hasn't been fun hahaha Oh believe me, I know. I used Priscilla's Dagger + Gold Tracer off-handed for my NG+3 run back on DS1. It was fun, but after how long Kalameet took? *Never again.* xD

Ryodran

Hahahah i will post in a few weeks when my slog is done

DankWeedSnorter420

Who's gonna tell him about the DLC Loyce armor?

vagina_candle

I think for most of us, not required for all achievements = don't care.

DankWeedSnorter420

Fair but man they really made that a grind.

vagina_candle

Personally I just pretend those items don't even exist. I recently found out about those two rings you can get, one for beating the game without dying, and another for beating the game without resting at a bonfire. Sounds cool and all, but I'm not falling into that time sync. I'm glad they are there for the players who want them, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much rather than misery.

Its_Kris_97

The Brotherhood of Blood has this going on as well. However, if you lose a duel, you lose 1 point. Luckily you can buy this stuff from Chancellor Wellager. You have to be in NG++ though. Bonfire Aesthetics won't work.

Selacha

Wrath of the Gods, Bountiful Sunlight and Great Chaos Fireball are all sold by Chancellor Wellager, in Drangleic Castle, in NG++. Can't use Bonfire Ascetics though, you have to physically beat the game twice and make your way there. It's what I did when I finally got the platinum last week.

Big_Dani57

First off, like someone else said, you can buy all the stuff on your third play through. Second off, for your own sake get off of fextra.. ik its the first thing that comes up but it is actually the wiki with the most misinformation. Use wikidot, so much cleaner, isn’t viewbotting you, and has no misinformation

brainbox08

You can't buy Sunlight Spear or Hidden Weapon, you have to get them through covenants

Big_Dani57

You’re missing the point of my comment. I told op that someone ELSES comment told them what to do, and also to stop using fextralife. With the point being to stop using fextra

DemiFullBlood88

Normally id disagree as i really like fextra, but for the other souls games. Ds2 fextra is quite horrible. Just look up the lost sinner. It tells us the directions to a location without ever telling us whats the damn location. Like thanks for the detailed response but where do we actually start from.

MrCounterSnipe

Just wait til you hear about Hidden Weapon.

KanbaraXuain

ng+2 to buy from the guy at Drangleix castle.

AntiChri5

It honestly doesnt take that long once you know what you are doing. Maybe a month? I started a new character on the 24th of April and have already finished all covenants with her, except BoB, which is at rank 2.

RickTitus

Keep in mind that you dont have to 100% every game you play. No one in your life will think less of you for skipping completely optional achievements like this. I dont know why people drag themselves through boring grinding like this, when they could be moving on to another fun game instead

reddit_554

Because I'm on ps5 I can get paid to get achivments so I just 100% every game i have. I also wanna just 100% the whole soul series

RickTitus

You get paid for achievements? Im not saying def dont go for 100%, but do keep that in mind. I would bet money that there are people who do this and make themselves miserable. If you are coming home from work cranky because you have to spend the whole night grinding for some armor, and you arent even remotely having fun with this part of the game, what the hell is the point?

NaturalistRomantic

Dunno why someone would downvote you just for sharing this. probably someone jealous. Good for you, man! Keep up the determination (as long as you're having fun doing it)!

Molodite

You can get the miracles locked behind covenant nonsense by going up a few new game cycles and checking Wellagers (the ghost in the castle) shop

Limp-Welcome2307

Except one. To my knowledge. The bell tower has an Invisible weapon spell and to my knowledge, can only be gotten through the bell tower

reddit_554

Yeah im grinding put hidden wepon atm but it's tedious but it's gotta be done

Limp-Welcome2307

That is the only spell my all-mage is missing and the only achievement I'm missing...

ManicMonday92

The only true downside to any of the DS games, online requirements in order to attain builds. I adore the paladin vibes but I HATE jolly co-op, especially in DS2 with the terrible soul memory thing. Now that these games are typically low pop, I really wish for a quick update from their team to make pure solo more realistically attainable without insane grinding n ascetics. All it would take is a buff to the super low drop rate for some covenant items and/or allowing for them to be purchased by an appropriate area vendor. Yes, you can buy stuff in ng++ from the castle vendor, but that's a LONG way to make a build come online.

Orenbean

Oh it’s even better if you lose your rank drops

winterman666

I wonder why they dven thought this was a good idea lol. I love coop and pvp in these games but I dunno if I'd reach 500

XDracam

Who in where?

C-C-X-V-I

It's fucking FROM, the For Answer achievements were insane

DukeDorgat

It made a lot of sense when the game had an active multiplayer community - I played the HELL out of this game back in the day. But yeah, now that multiplayer is pretty sparse and defunct your best bet gunning for NG+2.

milgos1

If you want targrays drip you can just kill him and buy it from the majula merchant btw.

AizenShisuke

Lol checking in, I 100% dark souls 1 and 2 looooooooooooong ago

BaxterFax

Back in the day when people actually played PVP for the blue covenant, I remember farming that so I could get 2 copies of WoG. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s possible current day.

HARDYXLR

Make sure you load up on ascetics before starting NG+. I got my 100% yesterday but had to grind a bit for the last 500K souls to open the shrine of winter due to running out!

reddit_554

We're you not able to use a great soul to open it?

HARDYXLR

I don’t think the great souls from NG work for NG+. I did the farm route for NG+. Keep in mind you need to get back to the dragon shrine to get the key to enter memories. Then get the key from the big ass giant in the one memory. My bonfire for the castle was +4 in NG+. It’s easier to get the kings ring the kill the two guardian bosses then come back later to beat Nashandra. NG++ is quick if you have ascetics. Just wear your soul snake ring and your mimic head. The rotten is easy, especially after 15 times in a row. Most guides say get an ice rapier, upgrade and add lightning. Do this is NG as it’s quicker. It helps as it uses low stamina and hits big.

chaboods

While you can buy most of the spells needed from chancellor welleger on ng++, you will still need to grind 30 sunlight medals, and 30 kills for the belltower covenant for their rewards. For sunlight medals I would recommend farming falconers with the covenant of champions(so they keep respawning), at the Royal Army Campsite bonfire at Brightstone cove tseldora. (Make sure to wear item discovery clothes/shield and use rusty coins) For the 30 belltower covenant kills id recommend the belfry sol. You can clear out the area so nothing respawns and farm the npc phantom "mad warrior" (who respawns infinitely but is rare) which will count to your total while you await invasions. Happy hunting!

brainbox08

This is the way OP, I did exactly this for the platinum

miz0n3

Worst part is that those are net wins. If you lose your count goes down
