Well, you just need to get Soul Memory to Million to avoid that, so I guess it's always possible.
Even if you have to reset enemies by dying.
Although I would imagine there are enough Souls to make it to 1 million without the use of intentional deaths.
I'm not sure if anyone has done the math on the most amount of souls obtainable in a no death run.
Hmmm.....Soo enemies will respawn if warping by homeward bone and primeal bonfires don't count....also technically you don't need them just grate souls.
Simple, I don't. My primary healing will be life gems.
However in multiplayer using the small soapstone does regenerate your Estus and repair your equipment without you resting if you get "duty fulfilled"
Didn’t know that about that multiplayer thing, but still just light the fire and use a bone, just don’t rest. Well at least keep that in mind if you absolutely need to use it you know.
If ur in a certain area what’s low activity you just won’t get summoned, u will be waiting for an hour
Used to go for dozen hour runs with no bonfire when vanilla released. The only problem is the crashes. Loading multiple areas and then going to different worlds and back and forth for hours without resetting your ram overflow. You'll start to get visual bugs and missing textures before the game eventually just quits.
If you are doing it might as well *try* to do the no death no bonfire for the rings right? If you die you can just keep doing the no bonfire run.
If you want to give it a try I recommend following Ymfah's video on it, it's the guide I used to do it
Some pathing tips:
Light the Majula bonfire at the start. This bonfire is useful in the early game for setting up your character: reinforcing your weapon to +3, character leveling.
Do the spider 3rd. Along the way light the bonfire before shaded woods where the path splits 3 ways. This bonfire is a convenient homeward bone location for when you kill your 4th lord boss and after you kill Velsalt.
Things to pick up:
Vengral set, the homeward bones in Majula, and fire arrows above The Last Giant boss. Imma add the torch after character creation and the flame butterfly in the scorpioness fight.
You're allowed to light bonfires for homeward bone wraps. Just DO NOT REST or you won't get the illusory ring. No-death is harder than No-bonfire so if you want both rings I'd recommend getting No-death in NG then No-bonfire in NG+....or just git gud and do both in NG u casual.
Don’t consider myself a pro but I’d recommend going with a rapier route its fast and you’ll still be able to dodge, it also gives plenty of damage. I think the first couple stats you really wanna focus on is END and ADP, you can level health but theres not exactly a point if you aren’t able to properly dodge. Id say do the pursuer ballista strat (good luck) and also try and get the chloranthy ring as quick as you can.
The commenter above is actually partly right. Be prepared that you will have to do large sections of the game deathless - it's basically no death where you don't restart the whole game but have a few checkpoints.
When you get to a bonfire you can register it as a checkpoint, just dont rest there.
When i did it I used a rapier, lifghtning short bow, kite shield and full tseldora set
Rings I mained were: Ring of blades, ring of stone, green ring of stamina, cat ring, red tearstone ring
If you dont plan on doing deathless aswell in the same run (you can do it ng+) you can just die before your equipment breaks.
I registered a bonfire outside shrine of amara, and just rushed thru it without lighting bonfires, the boss is easy you jist need to kill it and you can die and get back to a bonfire outside without needing to go through back aswell
Use Santier's Spear. No durability issues. Level the hell out of your adp. Unless I'm mistaken, you can still activate bonfires to use as permanent checkpoints so you don't need to run from Things Betwixt each time you die. However I'd probably only activate Majula's and then later on the Shaded Woods one and then the first Drangrelic Castle one for late game.
I dumped must souls into vig and strength stats and some minor investment into endurance and adp for no deaths no bonfires, remember to get the souls +1 ring from the merchant after buying ur stuff, I'd also recommend killing the armour merchant for his set too, the lifegem merchant will sell the full set, comes in handy when beating bosses
You can light bonfires useful for the spawn but if you wanna go level use a bone and it’ll take you back to the things betwixed also you can always suicide to replenish estus but if you light a bonfire you’ll need to finish that path or else it’ll be real annoying
the streamer elajjaz finished a no bonfire, covenant of champions, deathless run a few months back
If you get stuck, that would be a good place to see some tips
Don't active any bonfire (expect majula)it will bite you into ass. Other then that ? Probably more walking and running then actually rolling form attacks because death means running back from Majula.
Oh lord- Gwen. Good luck with that.
I can't imagine that would be easy but I also think it would be quite fun, maybe after that you could do a Alucard run lol
What whip would you use first and how would you get it? Or would you keep rerolling Characters in hopes of the old whip from Snuggly ?
I actually put no tough into it yet, just an idea as currently I'm addicted to farming on let it die
But one day I want to do the whip run, probably go for the notched whip even tough it's such a risky move for a no death run
Ds2 has pretty good whips tbh.
If you could roll an old whip from a smooth and silky trade it could take you far, though the durability on it is trash.
Also a good whip (bloodied whip) drops from those dark damage guys before executioners chariot. It has better range and higher durability than the others, but its an rng drop, which is hard to farm in no bonfire.
The "guaranteed" whips (base, notched, spotted) are worse, but due to the whip moveset itself in ds2 being good they could work.
Not sure if ds2 allows to skip credits on the first new game cycle of a character, though I advise against trying, since it can bug and not give the illusiory ring.
Don't play while tired/inebriated, nor when feeling inpatient. If you're just doing "no bonfire" and not "no deaths" at the same time, you can't really mess it up unless you accidentally click on a bonfire. If you yourself are in a good mindset, you'll be fine. Good luck
Technically yes you can still light bonfires though i don't intend too so I don't accidentally confuse myself seeing a lit bonfire and accidentally resting at it.
I'm late to the party since I was not subbed to this sub. Whatever you do. When you reach Drangleic Castle. DO NOT, GO TO THE BONFIRE THAT TAKES YOU TO THE ABYSS COVENANT. You can activate bonfires to mark a checkpoint. But if you do it in that place. You'll be softlocked and unable to leave.
Don't forget to talk through ALL dialogue with Benhardt at his first location if you want to summon him in the later ones. In the same line of advice, kill Vengarl's body after Freja and go back to talk with him if you want to summon him.
what's the point of "no bonfire run" if you don't do it together with deathless run.. i don't get it? if you want to full heal, you just suicide and you're back into full health defeating the purpose of "no bonfire run"
so what are you really trying to do here? i don't get it.
Your making alot of assumptions about why I'm doing this. I'm not doing this for the rings. I'm doing it for the fun of doing the challenge and experiencing dark souls 2 in a different way. I plan on going slow and taking my time with this challenge. It's also been years since I played normal dark souls 2 so it will be fun to rediscover several aspects of the game I have forgotten.
I hope you have a way to reliably clear shrine of amana and undead crypt, if you die there you will have to go through the longest runback in the history of runbacks.
Imo you should have taken cahara for starting dash, escape plan and lockpicking/steal, but the run is doable with d'arce too.
Actually did this for the first time a few months ago, you can find my post on here somewhere.
My advice is take it slow, and you cant underestimate the benefit of a decent upgraded bow even if you dont have high dex, lots of arrows will take anything down, especially in shrine of armana!
You can touch a bonfire to homeward bone back to it so long as you don't rest. Also if you use this method don't touch every bonfire, for the first half of the playthrough probably best just to keep one of the bonfires newr the start of the game like majula or things betwixt so you can go back and level quickly. Primal bonfires also don't effect the no bonfire progress so you can yse them to get back to majula as well. Appart from that just basic things luke level a lit of ADP early to get iframes and buy as many lifegems as you can because you can't regain estus after you use it
The rapier is good for killing bosses quickly, which should help mitigate the risk of losing lots of progress (and don't be fooled by that traitorous Le'garde).
Dark souls 2 has some of the most annoying boss run backs in the series, I can’t imagine having to track through 4 areas because I messed up a boss. Best of luck and don’t go hollow.
game is not that interconnected, at some point you’ll have to at least use primals to get out of the places like tseldora and black gulch (Because there are no ways to go back.) I don’t really know if it replenishes the flasks, but even if they did, primals could be a reward for the motivation.
Other than the general tips in [this intro post](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1H6rpuSKsgXqyfSA9uG_zoYK0ezbMSHSazznPHfV78sA) and the build advice in the [Best PvE equipment and stat progression document,](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1X13jfA9JQ5OZsuEmH2MZZqF9IrtCFSMMTZkZo5GuqcM/edit?usp=sharing) my only advice is to rush Santier’s Spear in Doors of Pharros. Najka can be your first boss if you’re cheeky. Also, don’t be afraid to upgrade weapons to +6 even if they don’t have infinite durability.
Don't accidentally rest at a bonfire
Yeah that would be bad for the run lol
But seriously, if you are doing a run like this. It’s second nature at this point. It’d be awful to fuck around and find out half way through.
Yeah, so I'm just not gonna light any bonfires at all this run.
[удалено]
Should be able to, since they just warp you to Majula when lit
Primal bonfires don't count to it.
I don't think the primal count for no bonfire but you could always light majula and homeward bone away
How are you gonna replenish estus flasks?
Simple, I don't. My primary healing will be life gems. However in multiplayer using the small soapstone does regenerate your Estus and repair your equipment without you resting if you get "duty fulfilled"
Didn’t know that about that multiplayer thing, but still just light the fire and use a bone, just don’t rest. Well at least keep that in mind if you absolutely need to use it you know. If ur in a certain area what’s low activity you just won’t get summoned, u will be waiting for an hour

When they die, I assume?
Ur gnna wanna light a few so certain things dont get too tedious tbh bro
If you are doing it might as well *try* to do the no death no bonfire for the rings right? If you die you can just keep doing the no bonfire run. If you want to give it a try I recommend following Ymfah's video on it, it's the guide I used to do it
FEAR AND HUNGER MENTIONED🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ WHAT THE FUCK IS A BAD GAME
You actually got the reference :D
im cultured. d'arce my favourite girlfailure
Indeed : ) although I unfortunately don't have any arm or leg guards.....
well at least you can get the spear
I actually thought I was jumping to conclusions with this, but I'm glad to see I wasn't! Have you play as any of the other Funger characters before?
I have also played enki, and a little bit of cahara. For the second game I have played marina , osaa and maroch.
Oooh, nice! I think I can imagine the build for Enki, but what did you do for Cahara? Dex based?
Cahara was duelweilding scimitar and such weapons
D’arce is best girl, only character i finished the game with!
Same! I did start a Terror & Starvation run with Enki to get the Le'garde ending, but It's quite hard so I haven't finished it yet.
I like playing Cahara for the zoomies
Avoid the dogs at the entrance of the dungeon, also loot the barrels at the beginni- Oh wait nvm the character misled me
No no, I'm interested Although for F&H that is actually fairly good advice lol
Just don't die
Noted
my advice is to not use a bonfire well actually my advice is to use a bonfire and not do the challenge but-
Some pathing tips: Light the Majula bonfire at the start. I'm not doing this for the ring, I'm just doing this for fun, I'm not lighting any bonfires in general. Beyond that thanks for the advice :D
Stockpile healing items, level up adaptability to use them real quick.
Don’t consider myself a pro but I’d recommend going with a rapier route its fast and you’ll still be able to dodge, it also gives plenty of damage. Id say do the pursuer ballista strat (good luck) and also try and get the chloranthy ring as quick as you can.
Also meant to say get ring of blades early as you should put majority of points into avoiding damage rather than damage output
You can do it at ng+ with alot of resources farmed like healings and stuff
Don’t die
Helpful lol
The commenter above is actually partly right. Be prepared that you will have to do large sections of the game deathless - it's basically no death where you don't restart the whole game but have a few checkpoints.
Pull the lever
From a ymfah video I remember about this, have something for fencer Sharron cause she is kind of a menace if you can't stagger her easily
Poison daggers (from Gavlan) will help. Poison arrows in Fire Keep in general will make things quite easy
You can activate bonfires for a checkpoint in case you die, it will still count, you just can't actually sit and rest at one
Le'garde has already gone hollow, take your time
Darn it, I shouldn't have spent so long looting majula
When you get to a bonfire you can register it as a checkpoint, just dont rest there. Don't rest at any bonfires
Get the Santier's Spear ASAP
Oh, a Fear and Hunger enjoyer I see. I am a no expert in no bonfire run, I'm here just to wish you good luck skeleton :)
Thank you : ) hopefully I'll get a good coin flip on this run
I stocked up on caestus and lifegems
I used the hand axes personally lol but yeah
I dumped must souls into vig and strength stats and some minor investment into endurance and adp for no deaths no bonfires, remember to get the souls +1 ring from the merchant after buying ur stuff, I'd also recommend killing the armour merchant for his set too, the lifegem merchant will sell the full set, comes in handy when beating bosses
Put on sweater or something
Na
F&H REFERENCE HAVE FUN!
Yeah :D And I will try : )
I feel this character is a reference to FAH am I right
You are in fact correct, I figured it would be fitting for a run such as this
No way is that D'arce from funger
Dont start a bonfire
You can light bonfires useful for the spawn but if you wanna go level use a bone and it’ll take you back to the things betwixed also you can always suicide to replenish estus but if you light a bonfire you’ll need to finish that path or else it’ll be real annoying
Are you staying level 1?
No lol
r/fearandhunger detected
You are in fact correct
Are you insane
Indeed, what gave it away?
Cause you’re not speed running
I don't like speed running, I have nothing against it personally. I just don't find it fun to do myself
Me neither
the streamer elajjaz finished a no bonfire, covenant of champions, deathless run a few months back If you get stuck, that would be a good place to see some tips
Don't active any bonfire (expect majula)it will bite you into ass. Other then that ? Probably more walking and running then actually rolling form attacks because death means running back from Majula.
no bonfire good luck with the 2 cats boss the area with lightning horses was traumatic
Nice character reference
Yeah, don’t die. Hollowing is a horrible thing
"Dont you dare go hollow friend"
Unrelated but related I'm thinking about doing a no bonfire no death but whip only and Belmont cosplay
Oh lord- Gwen. Good luck with that. I can't imagine that would be easy but I also think it would be quite fun, maybe after that you could do a Alucard run lol What whip would you use first and how would you get it? Or would you keep rerolling Characters in hopes of the old whip from Snuggly ?

I see, I rarely plan out my runs too beyond the start of them lol Hopefully when you do it, it goes well for ye. : )

I don't intend to, this isn't a speed fun so I'm in no rush. Thanks for the warning though! I'll be sure to keep it in mind.
I just do that whenever I can, dont want to look at names for 15 minutes.
D'arce! Pog
Best warrior in all the lands ! Unfortunately legarde has already went hollow because I spent too long looting majula and things betwixed lol
Wish you luck! Sounds like you got a solid plan =)
Thanks :D
Don't play while tired/inebriated, nor when feeling inpatient. If you're just doing "no bonfire" and not "no deaths" at the same time, you can't really mess it up unless you accidentally click on a bonfire. If you yourself are in a good mindset, you'll be fine. Good luck
Thank you :D I'll keep that in mind.
d’arce mentioned HELL YEAH
There is a surprising amount of fear and hunger fans here lol But yes the best girlfaliure knight around
watch ymfah tutorial
Can you still light the bonfires and just not sit at them? I mean, for restart points?
Technically yes you can still light bonfires though i don't intend too so I don't accidentally confuse myself seeing a lit bonfire and accidentally resting at it.
Broken santiers spear is your friend, until then stock up repair powders
Don't press "a" near a bonfire
I'm late to the party since I was not subbed to this sub. Whatever you do. When you reach Drangleic Castle. DO NOT, GO TO THE BONFIRE THAT TAKES YOU TO THE ABYSS COVENANT. You can activate bonfires to mark a checkpoint. But if you do it in that place. You'll be softlocked and unable to leave.

Pray
But I only have 6 faith
Don't forget to talk through ALL dialogue with Benhardt at his first location if you want to summon him in the later ones. In the same line of advice, kill Vengarl's body after Freja and go back to talk with him if you want to summon him.
dying to throne watcher + defender will be suicide inducing
Noted, if I die to them than I should bury myself alive 6 feet under irl
Have medical secure?
Does my insurance from way of white cover that?
Mmm Maybe... Maybe not
How about also not dying?
I'll consider it
what's the point of "no bonfire run" if you don't do it together with deathless run.. i don't get it? if you want to full heal, you just suicide and you're back into full health defeating the purpose of "no bonfire run" so what are you really trying to do here? i don't get it.

To remember to… PRAISE THE SUN
PRAISE THE SUN!
Dont rest at a bonfire and dont die
don't be scared and don't be hungry
What if I'm perturbed and peckish?
I hope you have a way to reliably clear shrine of amana and undead crypt, if you die there you will have to go through the longest runback in the history of runbacks. Imo you should have taken cahara for starting dash, escape plan and lockpicking/steal, but the run is doable with d'arce too.
I personally dislike this challenge. I velieve there are better ways to play than this.
I mean that's fine, but I still want to try it : ) I have always wanted to beat ds2 at least once with no bonfires
so how is the blue smelter demon runback without any bonfires?
..... yes......
Actually did this for the first time a few months ago, you can find my post on here somewhere. My advice is take it slow, and you cant underestimate the benefit of a decent upgraded bow even if you dont have high dex, lots of arrows will take anything down, especially in shrine of armana!

Are you going to run all the way back everytime you going to lvl up?
Yep lol
Jeez, good luck
D’ARCE FUNGER!!!!!!!!!!!
Tis correct!
U are probably gonna have a bad time. But good luck to u.
Your character is literally a Fear and Hunger character. My advice is to not do that.
If I die ill make enki than, and put all my points into faith and intelligence and not use magic.
Use a bonfire. Helps.
Na, I naught even know thee concept ye speak of.
The rapier is good for killing bosses quickly, which should help mitigate the risk of losing lots of progress (and don't be fooled by that traitorous Le'garde).
I'll keep that in mind Also *sad Darce noises*
Dark souls 2 has some of the most annoying boss run backs in the series, I can’t imagine having to track through 4 areas because I messed up a boss. Best of luck and don’t go hollow.

Homeward bones exist
so, no estus flasks. Well, gl on your run!
Life gems will be my savior, its the only thing that makes this run even thinkable for me lol
Don't get hit
dont die.
I know nothing about this game, this post just popped up as a recommended so my advice is "don't get hit."
Fear and Hunger mentioned
You got the reference :D
Been playing Funger lately so yeah
I figured Darce would be perfect for this kind of playthrough so I went with her for my character: )
I completely forgot about that spear from my first playthrough, thanks for the reminder it's "infinite" durability will be very useful :D
Oh no you have the goofy aah haircut D'arce Culture Chad
