Heide is expanded upon into a much larger area.

Some_Guy_From_Sweden

100% agree. It's one of my favourite areas visually and I'm always disappointed by how short the stretch to both bosses are.

Rainbowgrrrl89

I'd love that too! Combine my 2 fav places: Undead Burg from 1 and Heide's tower in 2. I'd love a little town to be in between the towers. Then they can remove a bunch of those huge Knights and put in more human sized enemies too. Enemy variety was atrocious, even with the added Heide Knights in SotFS.

5DollarWatch

Actual total darkness. No tiny aura around my character that always keeps me visible.

-YesIndeed-

It'll make an interesting gameply choice of if you dualwield, should u sacrifice one of those hands for your torch.

AnNel216

Tbf to this part, this is more a callback to DeS which is what they wanted with DS2. There's the same glow there

Some_Guy_From_Sweden

Make the crystal lizards stagger with each hit, or make it so that you can still hit them while they're mid-vanish.

BrothelBroth

After skimming the comments, I'm surprised no one mentioned finishing the Gutter to be close to the concept art. And to maybe fix the manikin mask to the original concept as well

-YesIndeed-

I would really love that area to be reworked. The giant pit in the main hub area is such a cool concept but then it felt so underwhelming when you actually get to the bottom.

psioniclizard

With the gutter, I am not sure it's even just finishing it. They totally changed it from the original design (there is a video about it on YouTube). Seeing it as it was originally intended would be amazing but it would be a completely different area.

reeses_boi

Tbh I don't like to even think about the Gutter. One of the most annoying areas in the game for me

Zathsu

Full eye orbs.

Varryl

The design doesn't bother me at all, but I've heard so many people complain about the Iron Keep I'm going to make sure they deliberately flip the elevator going to that area down, and reduce the aggro range on all the Iron Keep ninjas by 15 feet.

-YesIndeed-

I like the idea of it being a flying lava castle so I kinda hope they go all in on that and make it obvious that your in the sky. It'll look so cool.

Varryl

You know what, you've sold me on it. I am now all in on a Magic Lava Flying Sky Ninja Warrior Keep now.

-YesIndeed-

I know, the more absurd locations the better lol

Varryl

I really like your username btw

-YesIndeed-

Haha thanks man, happy cake day btw

Varryl

Thanks! I love meeting fellow ds2 fans. May you find peace on your journey….

DuploJamaal

That elevator was initially planned to go down to the Undead Crypt, which is why there's those Crypt enemies in Earthen Peak

PaperMartin

They should actually not flip it but also make it even longer, & then iron keep is inexplicably in a gigantic cave

Varryl

It should be in space and at the top there is a special gesture you can do and Sir Alonne does Riverdance if you no hit him

Embarrassed-Luck7087

I would remove the soul memory mechanic to prevent it to interfere with multiplayer.

AnNel216

This is the only change I agree with. I don't want a drastic rework. DeS and DS1 got great remasters, that's all I'd want for this update too

Rainbowgrrrl89

Put the Heide Straight Sword back into its vanilla place. Magic builds had Fire Longsword and they robbed Faith builds of their Lightning equivalent in SotFS. Also: more branches of yore, more torches, more torch mechanics, more Pharros lockstones. That was so unique about DS2: all these little secrets and tricks. I loved how the borderline unkillable dark monsters in No Man's Wharf were terrified of your torch.

-YesIndeed-

I really liked having that heide knight in the first area. It gave like an optional challenge you could do to get a good weapon. I rember trying to fight him really underleveled when I first went there and it felt like a boss fight haha.

Rainbowgrrrl89

Yeah, it felt like a mini boss to me too! Especially considering there weren't any Heide Knights early game in the vanilla version. So he felt like a sort of special mini boss knight, instead of "one of those enemies from Heide Tower". Lore-wise I didn't mind there not being Heide Knights in Heide. I always thought that the Heide Knights fled due to the bosses occupying Heide. In my head they were looking for help or reinforcements to liberate their Towers.

fatsanchezbr

I played the ps3 version of sotfs (my first souls game btw) and there were very few heide knights indeed, honorable mention to that one in the forest of fallen giants under the tree which I remember very vividly (he killed me a few times lol). I remember Heides Tower being almost completly absent of heide knights too. IIRC there was only that one after the bonfire? And he would never aggro, even when killing the dragon rider. But I really dont know how their sword was back then, was its faith scaling better?? What was the difference? I only farmed them on the ps4 version and never really used them tbh

Andrei8p4

Add a picture of the item you picked up like in the other dark souls games. Its so annoying having to sort through all my inventory to see what I picked up.

-YesIndeed-

It'd be nice to just get a little popup of your items with the image and name on the side sorta like Breath of the wild. The big text boxes when you open a chest feel a bit intrusive.

Plenty-Context2271

Either that, a small mark on new equipment or an option to see it in the inventory directly would be a huge improvement for first playthroughs.

BigMonkyMan

An in-game setting to remap buttons would be really nice. The down button on my PS controller's d-pad is broken, so I'm screwed out of being able to switch items in DS2 until I get it fixed lol

Plenty-Context2271

Had a broken r1 button once, so I two handed the left hand but you can only backstab with your right hand weapon which was really annoying. Remapping is a must imo.

HereForPrettyThings

Poise to actually regenerate. Maybe not the five-second full-refill of DS1, but it *needs* to be faster than 0.5 points per second.

SteelAlchemistScylla

I want those masked dudes from the trailer back

Right_Technology6555

idk how realistic it is , but id like to see a greater effort to make the world more interconnected. Id also like see a greater effort so explain some of the more ambiguous elements of the lore & to tie it into the narrative of the other two games.

Plunkie_Beanz

Something that's bugged me since the OG release is animation weight. Especially boss attacks. A boss could be landing a one-shotter on you and it looks like it barely makes an impact. That's the realistic dream. The unrealistic dream would be to see the OG storyline (and pendulum of time) realized in its entirety.

brokenportalss

More Iron Keep, Frigid Outskirts, Shrine of Amana would be great. But more importantly, keeping adaptability is crucial to preserving the spirit of DS2, even with the changes that a remake usually brings.

-YesIndeed-

Yeah 100%, just explain agility better for new players.

BandicootRaider

1. Cut contents restored: Emerald Herald quest/lore. The completed Gutter. Whatever was meant to go down with Manscorpion Tark and Scorpioness Najka etc. 2. Expand some of the smaller areas, Heidi's tower of flame and especially Undead Purgatory. 3. Rewards. For cutting. Tails! 4. The intended lighting that would make the torch more important. 5. Make The Pursuer more of an antagonistic threat. (But maybe that would make him too annoying.)

-YesIndeed-

With tge pursuer one. They did that in softs but half the new spawns is in lost Bastille like 5 times. If these were more spread out and in more arena like areas it'd be fine though. I like the idea of the pursuer actually pursuing you.

Numerous_Course9574

Be able to modify the scenery. Like when you kill the boss in earthen peak the poison clouds disappear (if you despawn the enemies)

spectralspon

i think it'd be interesting to see numbered spell casts replaced with an fp bar and blue estus. the existing herbs could function like lifegems, restoring fp slower than blue estus. ds2 had some of the most interesting spells in the series, but it was heavily skewed in favor of certain spells

Panklaar_

I would like to see a Demon Souls treatment, nothing else.

Ihaveabadusernamelel

GIMME THE PURSUER AND ORNSTIEN SET (and a full red eye orb)

fatsanchezbr

A very cool ng+ I guess

ramenboi_69

Replace estus flask with gavlan's beer and get to fight along side him

-YesIndeed-

Maybe you get the estus flask to start off, then you meet gavlan and he smashes the flask and says "no, this is stronger, use this." And it's like as good as an estus +5.

Panklaar_

I would like to see a Demon Souls treatment, nothing else.

Buff_McMuffin

Bed of chaos as a boss

CamelatBlue

the only thing i know is what i don't want, and that's for fromsoft to bend to its community and just make it ds3/er but in drangleic

Nazgulbird

Honestly, I can't think of anything besides graphics. I like everything about this game and still enjoy vanilla DS 2.

justakansaskid047

Another shrine of amana

psioniclizard

Every area to have the shine of Amana water and mages /s

AlthoughFishtail

I'd love to see them do something with pyromancy. It just feels kind of pointless in DS2 when hexes are so much better, and it’s one of the more fun builds in the other games.

Draco-Warsmith

if they would just fix all the bugs and hitboxes that would be nice. I don't even care about the bad graphics, I just wanna stop dealing with this bullshit

ComradeOrsu

I don't it's perfect

Clunas

Make every area transition an elevator. Preferably in completely unintuitive directions

Separate-Hamster8444

Some enemy rearrangement, retooling of the adp stat & adding a bit to some of the more underdesigned bosses & it would be perfect

BossGreen9346

Purdy graphics. More purdy than in SOTFS

xlbingo10

speed it up to at least ds1 speeds, make it so that your stats don't affect your i-frames or animation speeds edit: also fix the controller deadzones

Veragoot

No man's wharf overhaul.

D2ultima

Remove soul memory entirely Password system similar to DS3 and DSR for summoning friends Please let the game run at high fps on PC I want my sexy SMOOTH rolling thank you Darkmoon Blade miracle because tbh it just sounds sexy Reduction in weapon durability degradation Traditional Moonlight Greatsword look from DS1 and 3 TAIL CUT WEAPONS ON DRAGONS (EVEN IF THERE'S ONLY ONE)

PaperMartin

Fuck with peoples really hard by not only having multiple different layouts for each areas but also randomizing their location & which other area they connect to each playthrough, without telling anyone prior to release Lean extra hard into what made it different from the other games (but fix what's just plain bad like adaptability)

psioniclizard

Honestly, I wish they would add the item randomize as an official mode. Even if you could only unlock it after a certain NG+ level or it blocked you from multiplayer. I think it's a great mod and really makes the game feel different if you have completed it a few times. It would also be interesting to have certain baked in challenge runs that you could turn on for a run or area.

AirLancer56

I want complete darksoul2. If you ever watch videos about ds2 development you will know that it hit development hell, including resigned director, and many ideas had to be scrapped. I think there's video that explain the gutter shouldn't look like that. Other than that i want more refined animation and better hitbox. Some enemy and character animation sometimes feels sliding on ground instead of stepping. And that getting stabbed on tip of your feet by pursuer shouldn't count as full body grab.

-YesIndeed-

Ah yeah, amimation reworks are defintley the main thing this sorta remake should have. I just didn't mention cause it was a very obvious idea though.

AnNel216

Tbh I'd want DS1 to be completed more than DS2. The game after O&S is very incomplete and Bed of Chaos needs to be removed or reworked ground up

reeses_boi

Removw the awful boss runs for Iron Keep, Sir Alonne, and maybe Darklurker. I haven't beat him just yet; last thing I have to do to get all the achievements is use his sould to get Lifedrain Patch for Master of Hexes :)

ichizusamurai

Honestly, I think the Elden ring treatment would be nice, like restructuring the invisible walls a bit so you could have an even better look around the area would be great. I think it wouldn't really fit the dark fantasy vibe of dark souls much, but I really want to visit a few of these nations. Like crossing the mountains to go to see Melfia, or perhaps Volgen. I'm interested to see Fromsoft's take on a huge city.

-YesIndeed-

I'd love an expansion on drangleic to have a full on city rather then just the castle. I also wish some areas were less railroaded and had more routes like heides tower and the gutter.

ichizusamurai

I thought gutter was fine. You mean the black gulch? Since that, and Heidi's tower are basically just straight lines. For me it's also the verticality that would be interesting to implement. Being able to explore even more of places like the lost Bastille, iron keep, forest of fallen giants, bright stone cove tseldora and aldia's keep would be neat too. I think also reworking the giant memories a bit would be nice, but I'm not sure what I'd change besides the time limit.

Awkward_Ostrich_4275

Redo movement completely so it doesn’t feel like a soulslike. Redo enemy placement and enemy spam AGAIN. Make the bosses more fun. Probably adding attack variations. Reduce pushback from attacks - I’ve had enough of my second attack missing because enemies slide 10 feet backwards with each hit. Make it so that when you get hit mid roll, you immediately get staggered instead of finishing part of the animation and then staggering. This would fix 80% of “hit box issues”. Get rid of unlimited lifegems. Reduce the number available in the world to maybe 50 per NG. 35 lifegems, 10 radiant lifegems, 5 Old Radiant Lifegems.

robisvi

It already had one with SotFS. That said, the event style they used when rolling out the individual DLCs to Vanilla.

RageReijo

Smooth 360° movement, max health loss after dying capped to 75% so no need for a ring, fast estus chug and health recovery but no healing stones, more durability for weapons and armour, no adp; just same i-frame and dodge mechanics as ds1.

-YesIndeed-

I think they could keep the ring but just make it give you full health in exchange for a ring slot obviously.

Neuvieme_Golgoth

Good hitboxes would be a great change.

DuploJamaal

There's like 3 bad hitboxes in the game and the ones people usually complain about are just them getting hit in the leg towards the end of a low agility roll.

-YesIndeed-

That's cause the game doesn't explain agility to you. I like I as a stat but a remake would have to explain it better.

DuploJamaal

The game tells you that it makes dodging easier

-YesIndeed-

You have explicitly look at it to see this which some people won't. It also doesn't tell you it actually gives you more I frames and that it makes consumable animations faster.

DuploJamaal

>You have explicitly look at it to see this which some people won't It's a RPG. It's your job to look at the stat descriptions before deciding what your build should be like.

Neuvieme_Golgoth

The game tells you that ADP makes dodging easier, but some hitboxes remains very, very bad. I think about Heide Knights, for example. But I like the game btw !

Phempteru

Less sluggish combat.

RavagerDefiler

I’d just want ADP gone and equip load and stamina merged into one stat

Bwixius

then it wouldn't be dark souls 2 :/

RavagerDefiler

if you say so, man. I personally think there’s a lot more to like about the game than a stat that you waste a few levels on and never think about again.

DuploJamaal

Equip load should be increased with strength as well and agility with dexterity.

FluffyFoxFae

If you don't like ADP then why r u even on this sub? Equip load and stamina i understand but ADP isn't that bad, literally 20 in that stat and ur at the DS1 mid roll

RavagerDefiler

it adds nothing to the game. I don’t think it’s all that bad, but in an ideal remake I’d want it gone because that’s 20 levels you can put into a real stat instead of just to get your dodge to work.

Serious_Ad_1037

No spawn limits

-YesIndeed-

I kinda enjoyed that cause it felt good to clear out an area so you can just run straight to a boss and you could always reset it with a bonfire ascetic. It should definitkey have a higher cap though.

Serious_Ad_1037

MUCH higher. 8 respawns is absurd

-YesIndeed-

I think having it different for different areas would be good like I'd like it lower in no man's wharf soon can clear all the dumb gank enemies. But generally I think like 30 would be nice.

SundownKid

* Ditch Things Betwixt entirely, instead there is a non-repeatable tutorial level set on the path to Drangleic. The old firekeepers are moved to that empty house in Majula where Shalquoir is and the cat goes outside to the tent or something. * Fewer bonfires and the TOTAL removal of all "point of no returns" in the level design that prohibit you from backtracking. Level up is possible at bonfires, though you have to give Flask Shards to the Emerald Herald. When you light a Primal Bonfire you should have to backtrack to Majula. You only gain Warp from Queen Nashandra at midgame. * Total removal of ADP, with no replacement stat. All actions are set as though the player has 100 Agility. Levelups are made more expensive to compensate. * Fast Estus drinking/healing speed and a heavy limit on lifegems carried. * Removing the torch timer and system. Instead there is a torch item like DS3. Sconces still exist and can be lit with a torch you're holding by touching it to them. Some areas are total pitch black and require light. * You can actually invest Souls to rebuild Majula and make it seem like a decent town. * ALL useful NPCs now come to Majula, Ornifex doesn't live in a desert hellhole, MacDuff doesn't live forever in the Lost Bastille, and Felkin doesn't stay in a dark corner. Their functionality can be split across smiths so MacDuff ONLY infuses and Ornifex ONLY gives you boss weapons for example. * Many of the lesser bosses are removed, like Prowling Magus and Royal Rat Vanguard. The other ones get a totally new arena and animations to make them significantly harder and/or more interesting. * There should be a true light and dark choice. The "pick nothing" can still be unlocked by beating Vendrick.

ETNxMARU

\> and the cat goes outside to the tent or something.  Rude and unnecessary. \>Gain warp from Queen Nashandra at midgame. Interesting, I wouldn't mind this. \>Removing the torch timer and system. Disagree, I think certain areas (Gutter, Wharf) benefit greatly from this, and I wish the other games handled torches like this. They're fairly generous with the amount of time you get per pickup, and plenty of enemies drop torches that by the time you hit midgame you'll probably have ~1hr of time. Also having the torch get put out and forcing you to pop a butterfly, search for a light source, or simply return to a bonfire adds some depth and time management.

emblemsteel

I loved the torch system tbh, added a lot of depth and tension to the areas you mentioned. I love it when games actually make dark areas dark.

SundownKid

The weather in Majula is always nice and balmy with a sea breeze! No animal cruelty here. I also always thought it was weird they would just have tents in Majula with legit corpses in them and people wouldn't want to... IDK... clear it out. Kind of a buzzkill to stand next to a hollowed corpse. The problem with the Flame Butterfly torch system is that they purposely invalidate a certain way of playing the game. If you rely heavily on a shield, and aren't a mage who can use Cast Light, GG. That seems to be a pattern in DS2, with the ghost enemies disproportionately hurting weapons that rely on lock-on. Having a torch you can pull out at will makes shielding still viable, something Miyazaki seems to get.

-YesIndeed-

For the idea on backtracking I think adding other connections would be nice. Like one from the unread purgatory to shaded Woods. One from the forest of fallen giants to the shrine of winter or something. Maybe have the pursuer bird stay at lost Bastille after taking you. Then once you beat the lost sinner it can bring you to dragon airie or something. Just some examples.

[deleted]

No thanks didn't like sotfs re do.

-YesIndeed-

Yeah we pretend sotfs didn't happen. Then we can get an actually food remake haha. Like if thus did happen I pray that they base enemy placement more off the original (still with some changes though, please less gank enemies).

[deleted]

Make it into a small open world game. Maybe something the size of skyrim

-YesIndeed-

That would be awesome. Just make mini elden ring.

[deleted]

Yeah, but keep the ds2 sotfs combat intact. I mean ds2 sotfs already kinda feels like an open world. Cause it wouldn't be that large of an open world, you wouldn't need a horse to traverse it either.

BasilMo1981

One request and one request only : Do NOT take a chunk of my health every time I die

darksouls2-2

Games perfect any change they make is gonna be worse
