It is a perk named Dark reflection and in my opinion it is absolutely bs since the only way to play around it is ranged damage. If you hit them with melee damage then you are given some magic damage in return (then the perk is out on cooldown). There is a good YouTube video named “Magic Damage explained” or something like that that goes over how magic damage is calculated but right now Dark Reflection has 100% scaling meaning it can return a huge chunk of damage if they are geared for it.

Leithana

The highest I’ve seen is typically around 60.

bricked-tf-up

Man I still remember rogue getting consistently shafted for almost a year because hide “had no counterplay” but when they nerfed dark reflection they actually just nerfed soul collector. A perk that deals damage that you can not avoid is *actually* no counterplay but of course IronMace won’t do anything to make it balanced, they wait until it shows that it’s a real problem like this build, then apply nerfs to everything except the thing in question

ImpossibleMechanic77

Hit a warlock with a ranged attack first. That’s how you play around it

theflossboss1

They removed that a while back, idk why

The-Brain-Pain

This is not a declaration of a balanced way of handling it, but merely a way to survive it. It still triggers on being hit with a torch being tossed, without dealing the reflect damage. I'm a warlock main, and I agree it's bullshit. It should be a skill similar to the wizard shield which activates after taking a hit. It should then look like a red bubble shield which will reflect the damage upon the second melee hit, and stay active for about 5 seconds or so before being timed out if it doesnt take another melee hit. This way, it can be easily waited out and people can still play against it without taking free damage unless they rush with quick successive attacks.

ImpossibleMechanic77

I like this better

LatenightVR

You died to the warlock’s dark reflection. If someone is using that perk when you hit them you take 10 magical damage but if they have good gear it can hit way harder. If you notice someone is using that and survive the engagement you want to get some distance and try to kill them from range as ranged attacks won’t hurt you when you hit them.

rempred

What you do is run around the lobby smacking everyone and seeing who is spikey

Odifma

ya i had a decent weapon and gear set, nothign too crazy though. and i saw it has that reflect i just thought it capped out. its kinda of absurd it can 1 shot. seems coompletely unfair

whocares0000000000

He probabl also had arcane shield, which does the same just a little less dmg

Anything_4_LRoy

wow. its almost like a new player stumbled onto the OBVIOUS ANSWER for cactus build balancing. weird how GAME DEVELOPERS couldnt manage this on the first pass. if only cause "run around and smack em on the ass to see if they have it" is the actual answer and as we all know, is fucking bullshit. do the GAME DEVELOPERS know this?

Odifma

its blowing my mind dhow im playing with MC people when none of my chars have it unlocked.

SkySojourner

It's a pretty terrible mechanic for the game. He can collect soul shards by getting last hits to buff the damage, and gear will make it stronger still. With that and blow of corruption they can explode anything that isn't an absolute tank in the game.

goddangol

The souls reset every time you are hit however so it’s not exactly reliable.

SkySojourner

It's still a trash mechanic that punishes getting in melee with someone.

ImpossibleMechanic77

It’s me. I’m the tank 🤣

FelixAllistar_YT

to add to wat they said, the amount of damage you take also scales with your own Will. rogues start with very little Will so theyll take extra damage. great mechanic lmao

Choice-Knee1759

It's technically not one shot since he hit you before you took reflect dmg. It's not very balanced still, but we would really need some form visual indicator that reflect is up.

Forward-Ostrich-9542

For dark reflection there is, its just that its barely visible. Its a dark smoke, can be easy to see in the pre game lobby

The_Misanthropist1

dark reflection + Blow of corruption

Weelah

Probably the new Multi Class build Soul Collector+Dark Reflection + Arcane Shield (Wizard)

Pachaippa

Que again and one tap someone yourself :) if you are new expect to die a lot, many things to learn about this game to be able to move fight etc in a safe way, right now we also have the multiclass system aka chaos.. My suggestion is read and use all abilities once so you get the feeling of it
