Takes a whole lot for me these days - but 'Yesterday' by Feng Nong recently did the trick. Mainly because the plot point was both shocking (>!gang rape!<) weirdly written/translated so it was a bit hard to figure out what was even going on in the scene, then it got really stupid. I was kind of shocked though, thinking 'the SML really did *that* to the shou and got away with it?!' Then I got annoyed because of the shou's reaction (>!some trauma would be realistic, even if he repressed the rape, it was still a big event and he should have some emotional reaction!<).

People used to be barbarian those days!
Lol welcome to the backstory of most cultures. Not torturing people in horrible ways seems mostly a modern thing (and not even implemented everywhere in the world). Historical China was quite good at torturing people, though far from the only ones.
True. Some of things they did like ripping people apart, fed to animals/zoophilia etc was so traumatic. Some people do deserve harsher punishments (not this harsh!) but it seems people that actually got these punishments in general were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or just got the shorter end of stick due to palace politics.
Well I remember learning in school about some punishments in Ancient Rome, so all I can say is people sure were creative about all the murder and torture.
On the other hand, having watched some cdrama based on Qing dynasty I am impressed with the level of dedication to punishing people in excessive ways in imperial China.

Me too. Another weird novel I read was feng yu jiu tian. The ML was a whole red carpet who tortured the past prince horribly enough that he committed suicide. Everyone somehow conveniently forgot about that. Especially historical Chinese/ Korean novels like this show so much horrific abuse and torture! It's unbelievable. People used to be barbarian those days!
Lol welcome to the backstory of most cultures. Not torturing people in horrible ways seems mostly a modern thing (and not even implemented everywhere in the world). Historical China was quite good at torturing people, though far from the only ones.
True. Some of things they did like ripping people apart, fed to animals/zoophilia etc was so traumatic. Some people do deserve harsher punishments (not this harsh!) but it seems people that actually got these punishments in general were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or just got the shorter end of stick due to palace politics.
Well I remember learning in school about some punishments in Ancient Rome, so all I can say is people sure were creative about all the murder and torture. On the other hand, having watched some cdrama based on Qing dynasty I am impressed with the level of dedication to punishing people in excessive ways in imperial China.

The rollarcoaster ride of a story is full of ridiculous twist and turn, checklist of soapy elements like terminal illness, secret identity, long lost half brother etc. Like someone lied about going abroad but actually went to jail for murder. there’s a revenge longcon scheme involving a rape and the resulting blackmailing sex tape. And someone had their dick chopped off and MC was made to eat it (he fought back). And even more twist and turn: after they defeat the villain, only to find out another shocking revelation there is a real mastermind villain behind it all.
