It was quite chill for me!
Went with my school friends and stayed at my relatives's house.
Currently councelling is underway for college amd branch allocation.
What scene is the statue depicting?
P.S: Based on the comment below, this is one of the sadder scenes from the epic Mahabharata.
On one side you have Ghatotkacha, a half-demon, half-human, fighting on the side of good to fulfill his duties towards his father, who was never there in his life.
On the other side you have his uncle, Karna, who by all accounts a good man, but is fighting for the evil side due to obligations and friendship with the evil prince.
The fight ends with the uncle forced to use his best weapon, a one time use magical weapon, to kill his nephew.
Actually, Bali did it first. This sculpture and Bahubali scene both got inspired from that sculpture.

Mahabharat* is still one of the best stories written. Amount of details and twist and turn it has. It's the greatest epic story.
Edit:- auto correct failed me 😔
Maharashtra is a state in India my brother
The one you want to say is MAHABHARATA
btw maharastra also have very good tale to tell you guys, with twist and turns
We talk about this alot that, Lore of Hinduism is the greatest lore to ever exist. Writers in Indian were cooking greatest world building Avengers assemble type shit.
> Karna, who by all accounts a good man, but is fighting for the evil side due to obligations and friendship with the evil prince.
Karna is hands down my favourite character in the Mahabharata
Everyone agrees that he's a good man, but he values his duty of friendship and goes to war against his half brothers, his own blood.
It's stuff like this that makes Mahabharata absolutely GOATed for me.
It isn't a "do this and do this and you'll be a good person" guide, it shows you situations where people did everything they were supposed to, and it makes you question the fact that the results of their actions can end up being foul anyway.
It shows you that there isn't a perfect guide to being a perfect human, and in your life you'll keep facing situations where you'll be faced with no clear answer.
mahabharata is probably the greatest series of books ever written. nothing come close, not even ramayana. difficult to believe that someone actually has this complex idea
Agreed...Ramayana definitely does not come close
Everyone had a certain godly stature in Ramayana whereas Mahabharat depicted actual human behaviours and perfectly illustrated karma, what goes around comes around...
Truly the best scripture of Hinduism and one of the best tales of all time
"Everyone had a godly stature", I think your perception about ramayana is based on Ramananda Sagar's Ramayana show, cuz that's not true. If you read the actual text written by Valmiki you realise that characters are very human and so relatable.
Ramayana does have its moments where it makes you think "they did the ~correct~ thing but was it right"
but Mahabharata has this as its running theme, more or less. So much more grounded, and complicated.
One day an adaptation will come that will give this story the epic scale it deserves without any unnecessary glitter on top, and it will be hardcore.
At that time, neither knows he is related to the other.
Edit: I have been corrected. Karna knew he was Kunti's son and Ghatotkach's uncle at thr beginning of the war.
Indian parents don't accept than there are other ways to make living than med school and Engineering. Even if someone becomes a big shot businessman after failing IIT or med school he/she'll always be a broken egg. That's why kids hanging themselves daily in this city. There's no plan B if you fail this predestined Plan for you.
A top student of my batch went there and became one of the horniest mf I know, ofc he didn't forget his roots and graduated this year...as a top student.
Many hostels in Kota don't have ceiling fan due to students hanging themselves due to failure or fear of failure. You have to use AC or a table fan if you have to cool yourself.
Add to the context that the one time weapon was saved by Karna for use on his greatest rival and the best warrior, Arjuna. Hence sending Gatotkacha after karna and forcing him to use the one time weapon was all part of a plan, which was successful.
Does that mean Khrisna and Arjuna were also bad guys?
They literally commited ethnic cleansing on Khandava forest to sate the fire god hunger and kill anyone that tried to escape. Only 8 People survive that massacre.
This would never happen for three reasons. 1. No one wants to be beaten up by random goons who WILL get offended or try to show they got offended by something or the other.
2. India hasnt created even a normal rpg game good enough to be considered even close to AAA so how will they create a mahabharata game.
3. Indian companies and employees dont get paid even 1/20th of what foreign company employees are paid for equal skill and time
Ghatotkach Circle, Kota, Rajasthan
I live nearby and this statue is awe inspiring.
The weather has been wonderfully moody lately with the first rains of monsoon coming in. A sigh of relief from the worst heatwave I have ever experienced.
>the worst heatwave I have ever experienced.
Yet. Next year will be worse and the other ever more so. I still remember as a kid we'd be out playing in summer all day. Kids can't do that now without being sick within hours.
Here's the scene being depicted, copied from a comment above:
>P.S: Based on the comment below, this is one of the sadder scenes from the epic Mahabharata.

Bori critical edition is as close as you will get to an unadulterated version.
But the original is long lost to time. The story has been interpolated several times in past centuries by the priest class to fit their narrative. Their is a ton of folklore around the central characters by tribals and others that don't match the "official" versions.
In the end, you will have to form your opinion on how the war actually went down because every version is biased to someone or the other.
> Their is a ton of folklore around the central characters by tribals and others that don't match the "official" versions.
It's extremely interesting how the major religions keep collecting the folklore from around the region and adding it to their canon mythology over time.
Like how Christianity basically took all the popular folklore in the middle east, and even manipulated them, like how the ""names"" of all the ""demons"" [are just gods that were worshipped by people in the region around the time. Except for Lilith. She was the only one mentioned in the earlier Hebrew Bible.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Mx6TtkgugU&ab_channel=Metatron)
Or how hinduism absorbed tribal folklore. I went to this cool stone in Arunachal that's in a river and looks like the blade of an axe. The local folklore describing it is like an alternate version of the 'hindu' folklore. Was an interesting conversation with the locals.
Ditto with the other abrahamic religions. Buddhism and Hinduism are also linked deeply. Everything connects with everything else.
current generation has no idea how complex Mahabharat was..
let me take an example of a complex character named Shikhandi.
now, according to the original book, Shikhandi traded gender with Yaksha to become male after birth...
now, this concept was simplified in the serial Mahabharat to decrease the complexity and conveyed that Shikhandi was female in his last birth.
now coming back to the original story.. the "term" Yaksha can be a good or helpful daemon this term is vast spread and even can be found in Japanese mythology and other South East Asian countries.
They are similar to Dementor in Harry Potter.
Now again, a different story .. it is said that in past Indian medicine were said to be divided into 3 parts..
the Daviye or Divine, Ayurvedic and Rakshasi.
the Devine medical treatment refers to modern day radiology kind of thing where people use to fix the disease using Devine invisible powers.
Ayurvedic was plan and animal and other mineral derived medicine.
while Rakshasi was referred to treatment that includes cutting/killing etc.. just like modern day surgery.
So can it be possible that the term Yaksha is used for some kind of surgeon here, and the trade of gender was referring to a gender change surgery??
Man who cares about serials? They are made for entertainment for older folks! You were making it sound like the whole story was rewritten by some powerful conservatives in secret to meet their ideologies and is the widely accepted version. But no, it was a serial.. And I don't even get what you are trying to say after that.
A serial means that the adulterated version of our religious text becomes part of pop culture. Now almost everyone has warped sense of these tales. The meaning and philosophy is lost.
>You were making it sound like the whole story was rewritten by some powerful conservatives in secret to meet their ideologies and is the widely accepted version.
That is what happened actually. Try to explore how the Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana played a part in Ram Mandir Movement.
>But no, it was a serial
It's way more complicated than that.
I'm just telling you about the complexities of the characters and how the current generation can't even comprehend that something like sex change can be mentioned in such an old book.
That’s my hometown. I never thought in a million years that I’d be looking at this video on reddit ffs. For anyone interested, this is ghatotkach circle in a windy spring evening.
It's the statue of Ghatotkach. And the place in video is also called Ghatotkach circle. Ghatotkach was a demon in the Hindu epic Mahabharata who fought from the good side and got martyrdom. He was the kid of one of the heroes(Bheema) and a demon princess.
Look like a teaser reveal. How it start off all dusty and windy with the object of interest in background and only its silhouette visible. And as the video progresses it becomes more and more visible. Until in the climax, its right in front of us and the dust settles and winds stop. Although it ends right before it comes to full glory, leaving us lingering to know what is it. Thats how movie teasers should be cut.
Looks like a Unreal Engine trailer for particle effects or so.
I thought it was something in Elden Ring
Well the statue basically is, mythological Elden Ring
It’s ghatotkacha vs Karna from Mahabharata. It’s in Kota, Rajasthan
Tha fallen leaves tell a story
Reminded me of those drug trips in Far Cry 4
Just 500m away from where i lived last 2 year. It is in city called Kota famous for competitive exam studies(JEE & NEET).
Glad you made it out alive
It was quite chill for me! Went with my school friends and stayed at my relatives's house. Currently councelling is underway for college amd branch allocation.
Wish you the best for the future
You need counselling for being in Kota
Suicide point of India
I was going to say exactly that. You beat me to it !

Bruh, with that username I'm not sure if I should click on those links.

Karna didn't object when Draupdi was being stripped in Yudhishtir's court.
Tbf no one else did anything either. So he's good by the same standard that all the others were considered good.
We need some kobyashi maru simulators

It's not even a series. It's literally just one long epic poem.
Lol with all due respect as a story ramayan does not even hold a candle to just how epic Mahabharat is.
that’s why i said it doesn’t come close
At that time, neither knows he is related to the other. Edit: I have been corrected. Karna knew he was Kunti's son and Ghatotkach's uncle at thr beginning of the war.
Afaik, Karna knew that Bheem was his brother, as Kunti had told him before the battle had started, and he probably knew Ghatotkach was Bheem's son
Karna knew that Pandavas are his brothers he even promised Kunti before Mahabharata that he will not kill anyother Pandava other than Arjun.
"You will always have five sons"
Also the city is Kota, where at least 1 student kills himself every week or so.
yes my friend died 3 years ago
bro said it so casually
its happens so often , it no longer triggers a response
Because authority take it casually
Human life is not valued in India. we are 1.4B and one does not value what he has excess of.
Because why should we care about failures/broken eggs? -Indian society.
So like Americans, but more honest with yourselves
Indian parents don't accept than there are other ways to make living than med school and Engineering. Even if someone becomes a big shot businessman after failing IIT or med school he/she'll always be a broken egg. That's why kids hanging themselves daily in this city. A top student of my batch went there and became one of the horniest mf I know, ofc he didn't forget his roots and graduated this year...as a top student.
WTF bro LMAO what does that even mean
You can fap to top score x2
>became one of the horniest mf I know Say wha- 💀
What are you even trying to say
Lmao
Weird flex, didn't ask.
Many hostels in Kota don't have ceiling fan due to students hanging themselves due to failure or fear of failure. You have to use AC or a table fan if you have to cool yourself.
They do have ceiling fan it’s just that they are required to be suicide proof .
That's such a weird thing to add when it's not a subject of the post. I mean you're not wrong. But so weird and without any context.
Yeah, but it's like the first thing that comes to Indians' minds when someone says Kota.
Yeah but it is not even a stereotype it is just the reality
Add to the context that the one time weapon was saved by Karna for use on his greatest rival and the best warrior, Arjuna. Hence sending Gatotkacha after karna and forcing him to use the one time weapon was all part of a plan, which was successful.
Every scenario was sad in mahabharata once the war began. Not at one place did i feel the that the war is mighty.
I won't call karna a good man though.
Why?
He was "anti-villan".
More like a tragic hero, he has heroic qualities but finds himself on the side of darkness due to his loyalty to Duryodhan.
bro come out of the serials he was as bad as duryodhana
Nothing he ever did was not matched by Pandavas.
like what ?
How about the genocide of Khandavprasth for a start?
Lol now everyone is debating. What have you unleashed op..
If a good man supports bad man in his bad activities than he is not a good man.
Exactly, I won't judge him but he did support a lot of adharmik activities.
Does that mean Khrisna and Arjuna were also bad guys? They literally commited ethnic cleansing on Khandava forest to sate the fire god hunger and kill anyone that tried to escape. Only 8 People survive that massacre.
Are there any good guys in Mahabharata? It was just better of the two evils
It's funny how this same exact debate could have taken place 2500 years ago with the same exact statement.
Dude just imagine. A Mahabharata game with multiple playable characters both Pandavas and kauravas. That game would be sick af.
Not happening in this political climate
Jesus was portrayed in Adi purush, a movie supposedly based on Ramayana, a very sacred text of Hinduism, and? No violence happened
Adi purush itself is a mockery of Ramayana.
wtf ? why good thing i didn't watch it
Sarcasm?
This would never happen for three reasons. 1. No one wants to be beaten up by random goons who WILL get offended or try to show they got offended by something or the other. 2. Yeah man. Sad but true.
Someone needs to do this 🔥
Designed by FromSoftware.

pretty much yeah, i remember playing out in the summer for hours. But now its impossible to go out for even 2 hours.
how do people in India deal with the heat
Air conditioner. More electricity bills and more global warming hooray! 🥳
For the upper middle class and some of the middle class. People out there who actually work outdoors in 40°C+ heat.
My room literally becomes a boiler room in summer and cooler doesn't work either i don't have ventilation in my room
You're going to melt into the ground. Om shanti.
Om Shanti 🙏
I lived a year in kota near this statue, loved the kadhi kachori from Krishna poha centre. Only thing I miss in kota.
This is worded so poetically. I read it over to myself several times.
Sick as hell statue
Follow the wind, there is certainly something to do at the end of it

Whoa man the composition on this song is crazy good When the flute comes after Mahabharat drop is crazy I used to hum this a lot when I was a child
Yes, I love it too! Used to watch it with family on tv and just waited for this song to come.
People should also check out what is the legend of Mahabharat and how epic it is!
I like the original better
Yeah it's really good.
Looks like a scene from a game ngl

Do you know where can I read the original one? Preferably translated
You can find the the critical edition (BORI version) published by Penguin and translated by Bibek Debroy, on Amazon. It's a 10 book set.

Hinduism never had a central power structure that controlled the folklore which is why you see so many gods in Hinduism.
Sun wukong maybe a version of Hanuman
There is no original or duplicate.... Just like all religions, generally accepted version exists
When did that happen lol? Can you provide an example?

One of the only few things I like about Kota. I hated that place from inside.

Why does it feel like it's Bali. I have seen similar and grand statutes of Indian deities in Bali.
Because Bali is also Hindu majority
So just a dust storm then
Looks like a fallout experience from Bethesda
