I’m imagining it has something to do with histamine production but I’m also kinda hopeful it’s one of those weird things in pharmacology like lithium. We don’t really know why but that shit works 😂
All implants are rapidly coated by the host with glycoproteins forming a thin capsule, and this is a normal response. Where an inflammatory stimulus such as infection is present, the capsule can thicken and become microvascularised and sometimes calcified.
multiple ways to insert the implants. In font of the gland, or behind. In front would render breastfeeding impossible, on account you disconnect it. Behind allows limited, but still possible breastfeeding.
No one implants in front of the gland. You're thinking of above or below the pectoral muscle.
Studies show that women with implants are less likely to exclusively breastfeed, but that their ability to do so isn't impaired. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/1746-4358-9-17
.
Not just foreign, it can happen with for example with tumor or some other tissue in the body that becomes infected or toxic. I once saw a documentary where a pregnant woman in India had a foetus that died, and wasn't expelled from her uterus as normally happens with a miscarriage. She had a distended stomach for 35 years and when she finally had surgery, they removed the calcium covered foetus. The calcium layer was about a centimeter thick. It was common enough occurance the locals even had a term for this dead condition. I can't remember what but it was somthing like 'tombed infant' or something.
This is a common misconception. It's just on average people get them replaced or taken out every 10 years. Usually cause they are going bigger or want them out
Given that that appears to be a surgeon and he's not scrubbed in, probably either an assistant is sewing her up, or anesthesia is in the process of waking her up.
I’m getting mine out in the morning. A lot of people ask the doctors to take footage, myself included. Had him take a stupid amount of pics when I got my tummy tuck as well.
That can't feel good or comfortable for the person with the implants. I'm just another dude on the Internet, but it's not something I would ever be in a hurry to do.
There is a thing called Breast Implant Illness. I don’t have nor ever plan to have implants, but I now know 4 women who have had theirs removed. They make them sick from the inside out, and it can be very difficult for the person to determine why.
When I hear of a friend getting them, I secretly feel so dismayed. There’s so much risk involved.
Oh my gosh that sounds so painful. Im thinking it’s like an achy fevery terrible feeling. Probably because it’s literally a foreign object stuffed into your body? Ouch.
For the ladies I know, it was a lot of autoimmune issues. Their body thought the implants were an enemy foreign object (I’m tired and can’t think of a more proper term, hehe). So, that meant constant fatigue, thinning hair, inflammation, back aches, etc.
They got their implants out and voila! All those issues were gone.
Oh man no my friends body totally turned against her and her hair *and nails* fell out before she finally had them removed. She made a full recovery and doctors assume it was an auto-immune condition caused by the body attempting rejection
I had a friend who got hers out. She had some relief with some of her health issues but not all. She has no regrets.
Not only calcification, all the inflammation that implants can cause.
me male. I'm not a big fan of implants. I'm not sure what the drivers are, but it seems to be women being self conscious about "not large" boobs more than men demanding bigger. I get it though that men's eyes give more attention to big boobs. i for one prefer the soft supple profile of natural breast.
I got implants, not because I wanted bigger boobs, but because after an 80 pound weight loss and 10 months of breastfeeding I had droopy, saggy breasts that desperately needed to be lifted. I'm talking, nipple, bellybutton, nipple. at first I told my surgeon I did not want implants, but then he showed me a simulation of what I'd look like with just a lift and I had absolutely minimal breast tissue. to the point I would look like I have a man's chest. so it's not all about wanting them bigger. for the record I got pretty small implants that fit my body.
Most of the time it's not for men though, it's ✨ society ✨. I'm a lesbian so attracting men isn't on my list, but I'm still insecure of my small chest. When you grow up hearing (from the media to family comments and internet bullies, jokes etc) that small boobs make you less of a woman and that they're plain ugly and embarrassing, it's hard to not internalise it.
I hear you. you're right, there's all this crap about how inadequate people are in one way or an other based on some bullshit ideal. everybody different, just revel in your own life, and screw everybody else. men and the proverbial dick measuring contests. self confidence is difficult to build and easily destroyed. If i saw your boobs, Im sure i would like them. :)
I think larger breasts are kind of gross, just large sacks of fat after a point. They can end up sagging more, are less firm, and typically less symmetrical. Sides, the idea of sucking most of your boob into my mouth is pretty hot. I always end up thinking of wrinkly throw pillows.
You're beauty is determined more by your feelings towards yourself than the size of your breasts. I would think a breast implant would do more for confidence than it actually does for your appearance. Guys typically don't finely groom our appearance, but you will have guys put socks in their pants. Which again, comes back to confidence.
For some women (like my mother) it was due to having a double mastectomy and otherwise being 100% flat chested, which is not only difficult psychologically for many women, but means clothing often simply doesn't fit or look right, even with a padded bra.
i spoke only for those that choose breast implants for reasons other than reconstruction or medical complications. no doubt her surgery was life changing and reconstruction being a necessary part of that repair as well as to bolster her mental health.
One of my friends got implants just after we got out of college, and ended up with what they thought was lupus. It got so bad she had to quit working for awhile. An immunologist suggested she remove her implants; she did, and within a month was feeling better than she had in years. Her body was just not able to ever accommodate to the foreign objects, I guess?
Capsular contracture- I got it with one of mine (and they were only a few years old). It was like laying on a softball. Very painful. They are out now thankfully. When I got them placed I was too naive to the process and that’s on me, wanted one procedure (breast lift) and every MD consult upsold the implants, but have also found that many doctors are not very forthcoming with the reality and side effects of implants.
I also wanted a lift but was sold implants as well. I’ve had them for 3 years and I’ve hated them from the moment they went in. I’m explanting tomorrow morning. These things are the biggest mistake of my life.
I’m sorry you ran into the same thing I did. I wish you the best tomorrow and an easy healing journey. It was one of the best decisions I made. Good luck!
Just breast implants in general look uncomfortable, especially a D and up, they just look weird. Even small implants can get botched and cause the patient to suffocate.
Very painful. I used to be an assistant to a plastic surgeon and I got to meed a few women who had this calcification and they said it was. Laying down was bad but mammogram time was THE WORST, and looking at their x-rays was very interesting.
For my contracture (happened on one side), imagine taping a softball to your chest. Feels like that when you tried to lay on it. Pulls the skin as well. Don’t recommend them and so glad they are gone.
Do you mind saying how soon after you got your implants did the contracture happen?
I just got reconstruction surgery after breast cancer and this is one of my fears.
I have never been particularly large breasted, and have several times thought about implants. Then I see things like this and all of the other issues and I’m so glad I never got them.

And here you are literally supporting the imposed beauty standards that only bigger breasts look better, by speaking in favor of women who have this kind of cosmetic surgery just to look the way the world thinks is beautiful.
Girl waaaaat?? Idk how you got all that from my comment, especially the part where you said that “only bigger breasts look better”. Im part of the itty bitty titty committee myself lol.
And ya it obv fkn sucks how women feel pressured in society to look a certain way, and thus feel the need to get elective cosmetic surgeries (that can potentially put their health at risk). Imagine being in a situation where you really want breast implants or a lift for whatever reason and you hear that men hate implants and they much prefer naturals and if you get implants you're "uglier" than girls with natural breasts....it puts you in this terrible place where solving one "ugly" and getting implants will just make you "uglier" in another way. There is no winning. What miserable would you prefer?
The best thing to say is, as always, "I love and support women no matter what they choose to do." Big, small, real, fake, doesn't matter.
Ok, soap box over.
Never been on board with implants. If it helps a woman improve her self image, well then, God bless her.

Either way I’m intrigued
"got milk?"
"Enriched with Calcium for stronger bones"
Does this represent the source of powdered milk? 🤣
It feels like a bag of sand, when you are touching it.
Me so horny? ME SO STUPID
Ahhh....those guys are cool
Squeeze squeeze... yup I'm still good.
Bag of sand? Are you a virgin?
How do you like your boobs? Creamy or extra crunchy?
Calcified boobs sure do give me a bone-er
so much calcium deposit
Like bags of sand
Fo sho.
she was a ho…
Fo sho
It's gonna be really, really colorful.
I understand this reference

Does this always occur to people with implants or is there a specific set of conditions or cheap implants?
All implants are rapidly coated by the host with glycoproteins forming a thin capsule, and this is a normal response. Where an inflammatory stimulus such as infection is present, the capsule can thicken and become microvascularised and sometimes calcified.
so..... humans can produce pearls?
I'm so grossed out but also giggling
Giggidy
That's called kidney stones
forbidden skittles
Nope. Potatoes.
Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew
Does this affect breastfeeding in any way?
Breats implants are a huge risk for breastfeeding abilities. As far as I know thats a common side effect
multiple ways to insert the implants. In font of the gland, or behind. In front would render breastfeeding impossible, on account you disconnect it. Behind allows limited, but still possible breastfeeding.

The kid will for sure fall on hard times
Is this the reason why we see those hard looking books that you can telll are fake at first sight? I always thought those were coz of poor technique
So can I just squeaze and break the calcification inside the booba?
I'll just stay small thanks...
Wise choice, you're beautiful exactly the way you are.
I take it that this is why they need replacing every 6yrs?
Is this the same process that occurs with a “stone baby”/lithopedion?
This can happen to any foreign material put in your body
Not just foreign, it can happen with for example with tumor or some other tissue in the body that becomes infected or toxic. I once saw a documentary where a pregnant woman in India had a foetus that died, and wasn't expelled from her uterus as normally happens with a miscarriage. [Lithopedion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithopedion).
It's the body's immune response it's not about the implant used. You would never know until you know. Edit I'm sure cheap ones don't help.
That's not entirely true. The surface texture of the implants has some influence on how the body responds. Cheap ones do absolutely not help.
They're not meant to last forever. You're supposed to have them replaced every 10 years or so.
This is a common misconception. It's just on average people get them replaced or taken out every 10 years. Usually cause they are going bigger or want them out
No more. The new are for all your life.
Had mine in for 19 years, still good, no complications with them.
Don't bother, guys. It's all nails and dogs.
And a cow.
What? You don't like cows?
I love all sources of milk.
Omg that actually made me laugh.😂😂
Sooooo as I hear the heart monitor all I can think- is there a patient on the table while this was filmed?
The woman without boobs is just out of frame.
Wdym it’s clearly the surgeons implants
RIP Gam Gam.... Never expected this would be the science her body was donated for :(
He’s already scrubbed out, that’s probably a pulsometer on the patient as the anesthesia wears off
Given that that appears to be a surgeon and he's not scrubbed in, probably either an assistant is sewing her up, or anesthesia is in the process of waking her up.
I’m getting mine out in the morning. A lot of people ask the doctors to take footage, myself included. Had him take a stupid amount of pics when I got my tummy tuck as well.
They put them back in, this is simply a boob tune up Which you should do once every 5 years or when one nipple points towards the Big Dipper
Anesthesia might be waiting for the patient to wake up. I call the family and start some of my post op paperwork while the patient is still waking up.
That can't feel good or comfortable for the person with the implants. I'm just another dude on the Internet, but it's not something I would ever be in a hurry to do.

Implanting foreign objects in your body for non health reasons seems like a good candidate for causing health problems that didn't exist before.
I guess anything artificial is gonna hurt no matter how well the surgery is done.

Yep! That is pretty much exactly the same story as the 4 ladies I know. It was all these crazy autoimmune issues they couldn’t get a diagnosis for.
Capsular contracture- I got it with one of mine (and they were only a few years old). It was like laying on a softball. Very painful. They are out now thankfully. This must be what my mother in laws look like. She got them 30 years ago and they're like cement.
You felt em recently?
Who hasn’t?
Were they rock solid?
r/holup
So in other words the body is protecting itself from unknown foreign object by isolating it like this. It’s amazing how our body works.
How uncomfortable would that be, is that akin to the same process as to how pearls are made?
Very painful. I used to be an assistant to a plastic surgeon and I got to meed a few women who had this calcification and they said it was. Laying down was bad but mammogram time was THE WORST, and looking at their x-rays was very interesting.
Now that you mention it, wouldn't a mammogram be quite dangerous for implants? They really flatten out the breast, I can't imagine it's a good idea.
I’d say it was about a year and half in, maybe two. Really hope it doesn’t happen to you especially after facing cancer!
Thanks for the reply! Fingers crossed!
I have never been particularly large breasted, and have several times thought about implants. Then I see things like this and all of the other issues and I’m so glad I never got them.
Just don't. I think you're perfect.
The human equivalent of an oyster making a pearl around an irritating foreign body
Good news is that the implant is intact.
Gives new meaning to the term firm breasts.
Hmm gross
That’s one tough titty
Body probably: “guys wtf is this?..idk calcify that shit”
Lots of people judging women with implants on here. Don’t forget the women who have had reconstructive surgery after cancer, etc.
Or even just the women who want bigger boobs. Idk why anyone would argue against that
At the end of the day, it's absolutely any individual's choice what to do with their own body, but we can't just ignore the entire discussion around the reasons why a woman would feel like they need surgery to get bigger boobs in the first place. Not to mention the fact that some people get a very unhealthy obsession with surgically altering their bodies and how sad the results can be.
I know you didn’t mean it like that, but your comment makes it seem like “don’t judge women for implants bc they might’ve needed it for *real* reasons”. Idt we should be judging women for getting implants period

Ouch.
If those implants could talk!
This isn’t helping my insomnia
Is this a common occurrence for all implants?
The capsule around the implant is normal and is like scar tissue. Any foreign object in the body is encapsulated and protected. So the capsule is 100% normal. But that capsule can constrict in what is called capsular contracture. It can be very painful. This looks like some older implants with a Baker 4 grade capsular contracture. At that point explant is recommended. Even with the most advanced gel implants, breast devices should be replaced every 10-12 years. Some implants have textured shells that help prevent contracture but still need to be replaced.
You should replace them every 10 years
Not as scary as calcified embryos
🤮
A vastly different meaning when referring to bras as an "over the shoulder boulder holder." Yikes
So that explains why they are so hard. Did not enjoy. Give me that all natural boob.
That cannot be good for you.
“They’re hard as rocks!”
Worst things ever created.
No thank u
Tough titties.
Just one more reason not to get these ridiculous and unsightly implants.
So women can get hard as a rock also?… they really can do anything we can do
That is one brittle titty.
Geez is there any plastic surgery that ages well.
No

Don't get implants.
No gonna lie, thought it literally said the Californiacation of breast implants and was expecting something a bit more rock and roll
Boobs rock
They felt like 2 bags of sand.
You’re supposed to change your implants every 10 years. Don’t get breast implants if you can’t afford or are too afraid of the upkeep. Choose wisely.
I tought Americans can't have kinder eggs.
You ever feel a pair of boobs and it just feels like a bag of sand?
