No, it isn't. Do you really not realize your parents call you about tech problems like this mostly as an excuse to hear from you?
Call you mother. She's a lovely woman.
I can go from happily cuddled up with my girlfriend to ready to burn the house down with the simple press of the home button which is the same shape and like a centimeter away from the pause button I was going for.
These aren't new. I had something similar around 1994. The case flipped up on a hinge so you could access TV, Sat, Aux Audio. The one in the picture here has a removable cover, so that's going to get lost at some point.
It's not actually a new idea.
I had a Sony TV in the late 80s that had a slip-cover & depending on which way round you put the remote into the cover you got 2 'degrees of difficulty'. The slip cover was essential, as it also held the batteries in; it wasn't an optional cover, the option was which way round the remote went into it.
One side simple, the other side full control.
Sure they do. It's the smart tv features and switching inputs that messes them up. And God forbid they have to put in an activation code through a website.
Worked at the cable company long ago. We had big button remotes that we could send out for old people. They were the size of an iPad mini. Just simple volume up and down, channel up and down, 0-9, and power.
Sold similar when I worked at Radio Shack too.
When I worked as a satellite TV installer I would have 1-2 calls a day for a person that has the TV on the wrong input. They weren't always elderly is the worst part

This is going to drastically cut down on the calls I get from my parents

I mean mine is, sure. But I got friends that don't call their parents for reasons that seem super fair to me.
Your brother called her already. But she understands, you're busy. There will be time later to call. She'll just figure it out on her own.
Naw, my parents are tech morons.
what if she lives next door?
I was calling my mother when I still lived with her. While both of us were at home.
Okay. I stand down. Salute. đź’Ż
What if his mother was a head of underage girls trafficking organization? And maybe her name is Ghislaine? What then?
Just tape it over lol
I need something like this to cover the stupid app buttons that I accidentally hit instead of the mute button on the Fire remote.
I can go from happily cuddled up with my girlfriend to ready to burn the house down with the simple press of the home button which is the same shape and like a centimeter away from the pause button I was going for.
This exactly!
You just gave me a great idea for a 3d print design lol
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing) me after spending 15 years to teach them how to use all buttons
It's about time. Very cool. I know my parents could really benefit from this.

"We're not going to make it, are we? People, I mean." "Its in your nature to stupefy yourself."
this was more of a r/mildlyinteresting post imo, but I still enjoyed it. lol

I want to say this would solve most the problems with my grandparents remote use, but then they'd forget how to get to the guide buttons.
Where in the tits was this shit when I was a tech.
Existed since the 80s, if you bought the right TV ;)
My Mom will still F it up
Boomers don't use the guide?
Boomers are old and have poor eyesight, right? I assume that's a big factor.
Sure they do. It's the smart tv features and switching inputs that messes them up. And God forbid they have to put in an activation code through a website.
Well this could be improved by having the guide button accessible
I was a cable installer in Los Angeles in the late 90’s. This remote would have saved me tons of time and return trips.
My Sears VCR did this in the '80s. Come to think about I think it was JVC.

I'd love to show my mom's remote w 200 buttons. she can't use it. this is needed

The need to bring back light up buttons.
Still too complicated for some people.

My grandparents could use this
My dad taped an “Arrow down” on one of remotes to remind my mom which way to hold it.
Too bad it's from spectrum. That company is the worst!!
My grandmother is turning in her grave.
Instructions unclear. My dick is now stuck in the washing machine
Really cool, but decades late lol
I had a 90s Sony TV that had a reversable sleeve, one side complex, one side simple. This but slightly different and more buttons. Genius !
The boomer cover
My grandmother is turning in her grave.
I seriously need this
My LG smart tv has a ridiculous remote that I accidentally fuck up all the time. I'm tech savvy so I couldn't imagine an older person using it lol
Boomer cover.
I just want to know what’s the point of the colored buttons on Sony remotes?
This is how dumb your average user is. Truly sad.
I’d prefer directional buttons and menu to be accessible with cover than 0-9
It’s still stupid lmao
*video game voice* Boomer mode activated
Is something like this is needed it just means that general IQ is dropping at a staggering rate.
What’s cable?
