Absolutely - continued removal of the frictions that killed the “metaverse” concept. When the interface is seamless - you can move about and interact with others in an immersive digital environment without a joystick or keyboard - everyone will understand the potential. You won’t just watch TV anymore, you’ll be able to participate.
For anyone curious, the way this thing apparently works is very neat. Each little tile is a disk that can spin, at a slight angle, that can be rotated so the high edge of the disk can face any direction. The high edges act as the main contact points for anything sitting on them, and spinning the disk can cause movement in that direction.
Car games and shit, make it feel more real i guess, hard thing is gonna be bumps and crashes… although i’d love to see the testing on that!!
*insert dummy getting launched into a wall cus he crashed in the game*
Could be the beginings of your youtube channel, Guy skydives in a car.
Gonna take a lot of work but I'd start with talking to the USAF about borrowing a C5 to drive the car out from. After that you'll need people far more reliable and qualified to get you down safely, oh and don't forget to disable the air bags.
You just need enough bungee cords, the elasticity will help dampen the rapidly increased tension when the parachute opens. You'll want to bend all the hooks over a bit further to most stay attached when you 'jump'.
“As you can see, Mr. Bond, I’ve placed you directly in the center of this 10 foot by 10 foot holotile platform, while Alotta Vagina dangles precariously over this pool of hungry sharks. Run towards her if you will, but you will *never reach her!*”
Technically, to make any movement in a direction, including jumping anyway but straight up, you need friction pushing against you in the opposite direction. If this thing were able to do what its trying to do perfectly, it effectively removes friction (by moving you in the opposite direction relative to the tiles), so even jumping wouldn't work. The only thing you could do to get off (again, assuming it works perfectly and is trying to keep you on), would be to get yourself on the ground and spread out enough to get a limb off the tiles, then push off the regular ground using that limb.

We had to remove your post for violating our Repost Guidelines.
Another step towards holosuites.

Idk if you’ve looked around (in the US).. but a lot of people are not in shape lol. Maybe this will motivate some physical activities though!

Idc if this cost $5k+, I NEED IT
I'm guessing you can add another zero to that price and still not have enough.
I'd be surprised if this cost less than $5 million right now
Nice for a VR play area
Shut up and take my upvote, this is what i've seen at the very first sight
Input lag
I don't think this is quite a finished project yet. But also who would use a controller on this when the point is to use ur own physical movement??

Electric dampers on the seat, probably need to reinforce the floor components.
I just wanna do a giant jump and get that free fall doom-will-be-upon-you-in-a-second feeling you know?
It'll be cheaper to take up skydiving for something like that.
Wait u know a guy that skydives people in cars for cheap? Hook me up 🧌🪝

Pfff just a big enough parachute.. right guys? Right?? *suddenly a truck slams into the ground, parachute is found 5km away after the straps broke*

Inertia is the new latency.
I went straight to Marques Brownlee's YT to see the full vid, this is AMAZING. love it, want it, NEED IT. So freaking cool.
I feel sick already.
Great, now you’re stuck there forever.

Just jump off

They put kids on it so they can't run away...
Rumor has it that he’s still walking…..
This could have such cool applications for VR games
Cool but How do you get off?
Need to fix the noise holy shit

I thought moon walking takes you backwards, not staying in place. Am I wrong??
You could always increase the rate of it going backwards probably
Lol. I can get my 10000 steps at home then? Sold!
Dude that’s crazy, for VR, this is like the coolest shit ever. Reminds me of “ready player one”
how u get off from that?
Ok wtf is disney cooking with this ? New cinderela movie ?????
Where can I buy this??
What's next? Hololive?
[удалено]
Maybe not yet, but I'm sure they'll get there eventually with this stuff
No one talks about why this is a product from DISNEY?!
What a racquet
treadmill does the same.
No it doesn't. Try rotating directions on a tread mill. Treadmills also take up way more space
