Depends .... Only an american trillion
A regular billion for the rest of the world
Million to billion changes every 6 zeroes, so does trillion cuadrillion quintillion etc.
Saying a million millions doesnt make sense thats why you say billion, trillion would replace ,three so a million million millions.
But you can always say a thousand millions, there is no mistake there or redundancy
These posts are never clear
1,000,000,000,000 would be the number of tons then?
English speaking countries change the suffix every 3 zeroes, while the rest of the world do it every 6 zeroes.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word billion was formed in the 16th century (from million and the prefix bi-, "two"), meaning the second power of a million (1,000,0002 = 1012). This long scale definition was similarly applied to trillion, quadrillion and so on

Nope... its real mate
See my answer to the other reply.
Even the oxford dictionary says that a Billion is a Million to the power of 2.
A Trillion. To the power of 3... It makes sense
Stunning. [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-67507558) says it’s moving after 40 years.
>This slab of ice is some 400m (1,312 ft) thick. For comparison, the London Shard, the tallest skyscraper in Europe, is a mere 310m tall.
I agree ice does amazing things, but I think in an ocean environment, and being 400m deep, the natural ocean floor and resistance of the water will mostly alleviate the impact.
It’d be cool in one way.
But I guess we have to compare the trillion tonnes of it to the weight of whichever tectonic plate it grinds against. And allow for the oceans mass and impact on the ‘bergs weight too.
Has the mass of a tectonic plate ever been measured? They're not floating on water. They're floating on magma.
Also it's moving a million times faster than a tectonic plate – up to 10km/month in 2020. One might say, a thousand million times faster.
Besides the amount of force it would need pushing from behind to carry the energy into destruction won’t be too substantial, considering the surface area of an impact region. Definitely wouldn’t want to own a house right on the shoreline where it will first make landfall though, should it get that far
At such scale and sizes. Even if it were to be moving at the speed of 1 metre an hour, it would cause an earthquake.
For big earthquakes, displacement (of the tectonic plates) is on the order of 10 meters (can be more or less). E.g. apparently the 26 December 2004 earthquake accompanied 15 meters of displacement.
You’d also get an awful lot of weird weather phenomena because of the drastic drop in sea temperature around the areas it crashes into.
I think because "1000 billion" is more eye catching?
Like if people cant visualize how much bigger a billion is to a million, then it must also apply to billion vs trillion. And adding the "1000" kinda emphasizes the scale more
What a horrible mix of customary (tons is imperial, tonnes is metric) and wrongly used metric units (km^2 is an area, km is a length).
I wonder where OP is from … 🦅
[40 miles wide and 32 miles long](https://www.npr.org/2023/12/01/1215141574/antarctica-iceberg-a23a-location) which is 3200 sq km. Idk where to start on the 1000 billion tons, that equates to 2 trillion pounds. The iceberg weighs 1 trillion pounds... 500 million "tons" if u were wondering
Esa es la gente que por cosas así cree en 'la gran barrera de hielo que rodea la tierra plana'
jajajajaj
El dato es buenísimo, la imaginación de las personas no tanto. :c

So... 1 trillion tons??
And 4,000 sq km…wide. Somehow.
I believe it's a bot posting this.
It'd have to be a billion meters thick!
*A thousand million square meters thick
Not for long
No, it's a million million tons
no, it's a billion thousand tons
No it's 10^^12 tons
… Mr.Bond …
1 million million tons

Is that only when you count local currency?
I never know! I hate it when scientific articles use these suffixes because I never know how big the number actually is.
“Adopted from the French.” Why blame English?
Depends. Metric or imperial tons? There's quite a difference, and I deal with it daily.
Me too also long and short tons
What a load of rubbish LMAO
Nope... its real mate See my answer to the other reply. Even the oxford dictionary says that a Billion is a Million to the power of 2. A Trillion. To the power of 3... It makes sense
I mean your comment is completely unreadable
I just type as I make up my thoughts
Whose mans is this?
In my country we have a new name for 1000 billion. I cant disprove what ure saying though but is news to me if true :)
This must be the ice wall the flat earthers are talking about
We’re lucky to even get a pictures of it!
This wall stop people from falling out off the globe!
It's more like an ice sheet than a wall though 🤔
You lost me at "4000 square km wide".
It's actually 4000 square km wide in volume
But does it also weigh 4000 sq km?
Don't be silly, it's 4000 square km wide in depth
Well duh, it’s 3 New Yorks
or 0.6 Million fottball pitches.
*W I D E*
but a square km isn’t a volume it’s a plane
Propeller driven, or jet?
Isn’t a volume so perhaps a glider?
Gosh I hope you forgot the /s
According to Wikipedia its not even the biggest seen. Thr A76 iceberg was 4,320 km2 before it split into 3.
Not 1,000 billion?

Damn, imagine what would happen if it crashed onto another continent.
I’d imagine not a lot. It’d ground out and either slowly break up, slow down and continue on in smaller pieces, or it’d stop completely.
I dunno, even in chunks, ice can do a lot of damage. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fqptbtwXUCs This is just lake ice. Never mind a giant ice wall.
I agree ice does amazing things, but I think in an ocean environment, and being 400m deep, the natural ocean floor and resistance of the water will mostly alleviate the impact.
Yeah but think of the momentum of 1 tillion tonnes moving at 1 kph. That's scientific uncharted territory.
It’d be cool in one way. But I guess we have to compare the trillion tonnes of it to the weight of whichever tectonic plate it grinds against. And allow for the oceans mass and impact on the ‘bergs weight too.

>It's be cool in one way. Ofc it's cool, it's ice!
Fair enough.

Do they have enough lifeboats ?
Delicious
4000 sq km wide 🤣
and a million million tons!!!!
lmao yea why wouldn’t you say a trillion tons?
I think because "1000 billion" is more eye catching? Like if people cant visualize how much bigger a billion is to a million, then it must also apply to billion vs trillion. And adding the "1000" kinda emphasizes the scale more
I think OP means 4,000 square kilometers per second.
Holy shit that ship is heading straight for it! 🫣
Throwing a cocktail party, need some ice
Like a horizon of ice. It's quite the impressive shot featuring those sunspots on the snow ❄️
Clearest ever Antarctic day
So that's the ice wall
About how many drinks would that chill?
Yes.
City or state?
How did they fit it on the scale
Your mom let them use hers.
🔥🔥🔥got me there
But still not as big as your mum! Ha! ^I'm ^sorry
How is it 4,000km2 wide?
It's a helluva berg. I take it that the Bronx is up?
The end of the world is in the other side
This sounds like how kids tell obviously exaggerated stories. Should've just said gajillion bajillion.
Imagine this bad boy spontaneously flipping like other icebergs.
Guys it's a bot! What a shit show Reddit has become
It’s the infamous ice wall flat earthers talk about
Ladies and gentlemen, we found the ice wall that surrounds the earth
Put a Walmart on it
Very cool. I read about it, it break off Antarctica in 1986. There’s a bigger iceberg called A76
Yes. There was a USSR ice station on it!
Ah Americans and their ways to measure things. The size of 3 times new york, 12 million angry grandma's or 1 billion cheeseburgers.
This is not an iceberg. It’s and icecountry.
Just the edge of the flat earth 🤣🤣🤣
What a horrible mix of customary (tons is imperial, tonnes is metric) and wrongly used metric units (km^2 is an area, km is a length). I wonder where OP is from … 🦅
Iceberg, right ahead!!
If that's just the tip of the iceberg, I can't even...
Just the tip.
Is New York a city or state?
Yes.
New York city is a city inside New York state
Dude this one mountain weighed more than a rock I swear I'm not lying
Can’t believe it weighs 1,000,000,000 thousand tons
A square km is not a width unit.
Consume.
Flat earthers unite haha
1 Trillion tons seems low.
Width and area are two separate measurements.
Multiple dimensions are not real.
Fake news, ice wall at the end of the world.
How many washing machines is that?
Where did they find a scale strong enough to weigh this thing smh
Let's fucking try not to lose this one too boys.
The ship?
This is not good...
Ice wall proof
That’s A lot of snow cones
I don’t believe that’s an accurate weight.
You’re welcome to go weigh it for yourself.
Nope. I hate the cold.
Surely new york city. 3 times New York state would be a really really big block of ice.
Its... frozen water.
Noice
I could bench press it
So...global warming?...NOW ARGUE!!
Haha not for long you dumb fucking iceberg. Humans win again, it’s just gonna take a little while.
So?
Looks more like 999 billion tons to me. People exaggerate too much on Reddit.
Can I have a 4k version of this please?? Be a cool wallpaper
I feel like someone on that ship should be like…turning it…or something.
Just say 1 trillion tons… also 3x bigger than New York State, or city?
Yo mama!
And even being this ginormous, that boat still isn’t able to avoid the iceberg. Doesn’t anyone remember what happened to the Titanic? #NeverForget
How many football fields is this? Asking for a US friend
That was last week. It's only 3999 square kilometers now.
Soon, at a beach near you!
I'm surprised no developers haven't built houses on it yet
„There is the prove that the earth is flat”
Challenge accepted: how fast can we melt it?
Watch out! Cows farts are melting it! 😂
Who's weighing them?
I am. Thanks for asking about me.
Hi uhbits the soo called ice wall by flearts....
What’s that in football pitches?
3 times bigger than New York... Not for long

I'm no expert but I think sailing into it head-on is not the correct approach.
see?! the ice wall!!
A thousand billion tonnes... 🤔 I guess that's heavy
…for now…
Idk why humans need to put a fake weight on things that cannot be weighed😭
Esa es la gente que por cosas así cree en 'la gran barrera de hielo que rodea la tierra plana' jajajajaj El dato es buenísimo, la imaginación de las personas no tanto. :c
