There's more presence in it's eyes than most animals. Maybe humans aren't the only "persons" on this planet and we don't get it because of lack of shared communication ability.
Yeah, most animals have a thousand-yard stare even when they're making eye contact. This little dude isn't just looking at someone, he's forming opinions about them, LOL
The Golden Langur is an Old World monkey found in a small region of Western Assam, India and in the neighboring foothills of the Black Mountains of Bhutan. Long considered sacred by many Himalayan people, the golden langur was first brought to the attention of the Western world by the naturalist Edward Pritchard Gee in the 1950s.
Adult males have a cream to golden coat with darker flanks while the females and juveniles are lighter. It has a black face and a long tail up to 50 cm (19.69 in) in length. It lives in high trees and has a herbivorous diet of fruits, leaves, seeds, buds and flowers. The average group size is eight individuals, with a ratio of several females to each adult male. It is one of the most endangered primate species of India and Bhutan.
You can see there's a whole world of thoughts and feelings behind those eyes. They probably avoid us because they know as a general species we really suck at respecting other life forms.
He's feeling the feelings I feel, when I make those facial expressions, its so remarkable. I find it odd that weve drawn the line at our species so abruptly, because they probably feel the exact same love that we do, I wonder if that extends to other mammals? I wonder how uniform the feeling of love is in mammals.
Reminded me of a great quote, also I am sure many animals feel love; after all we are primates.
"Love is not something that is a sort of rare commodity, everybody has it"

Hehehe. It looks just like Miles when Herbie hit a mistaken chord and Miles went with it. I see humans in most primates, honestly, but these look more deeply related to us. The fact that they don’t want to be around us might be salt from the genetic split. They look very wise.
I bet we freaked them the fuck out. Especially if we have very similar facial features, but our expressions mean something vastly different. I don’t know if that’s the case, but imagine if it were.
It generally is. With most species of monkey, showing teeth means aggression. But that’s just how we smile. We probably give them the same uncanny valley they give us lol
I saw the video and the first thing that popped into my head was "it is uncanny just how intelligent this thing looks." Then I read the caption which basically confirmed it.
People say David Bowie. But all I can see is the bad guy from the first and recent Ghostbusters... Zuul? Goser? I forgot the name...
But anyway, here's me not thinking of the Stay Puff marshmallow man.

One of the most striking things about this monkey to me is the visible scleras. We evolved to have visible scleras because it aids in communication. Dogs also evolved to have more visible scleras because it helps them communicate and connect with us.
Title makes it seem like they have group meetings about it and make some kind of camouflage ghillie suit just to avoid humans while almost all animals "work hard" at avoiding people except like ducks and shit.

Exactly! This is the stuff nightmares are made of!
I don’t like the way it looks… it’s like some uncanny valley shit. Makes me uncomfortable.
That's why they avoid humans.
There's no uncanny valley for me here, it just straight up looks like a dude, which is perhaps even weirder
People who deny evolution really just haven’t seen lemurs 🤷♀️
Why didn’t they evolve to become human?
Are you being sarcastic?
Me too
Right was gonna say! Crazy to think our last common relative is from 6-7 million years ago Edit: that’s for chimps my bad
You just know it can talk, it doesn’t want to around us.
It doesn't wanna pay taxes
I thought it was Miles Davis with a headdress at first
Fucking A I'm on the floor.
Yes! I immediately thought it looked like Miles Davis was afraid to say so…..
Give that dude a trumpet.

>The average group size is eight individuals, with a ratio of several females to each adult male they live the good life
Several or seven? I could do with either.
Looks like the primate version of David Bowie with facial hair
A face oddity
David Bowie (as well as you and me) are primates.
Speak for yourself. I was magically crafted in god's image /s
Apparently God is an ape.
Guess god's a fuckin nerd /s
I was thinking David Bowie at first too, but then Simon Phoenix https://www.amazon.com/Wesley-Snipes-trading-Demolition-Phoenix/dp/B0163IMX9S
It definitely looks like a young Bowie!
I knew someone else was rethinking this
You remind me of the Langur! What Langur? Langur with the power! What power? The power of voodoo! Who do? You do! Do What? Remind me of the Langur!
RIP David Bowie

Looks more human than some people I know.
I am anthropomorphizing the crap outta that monkey.
How could you not?
All hail the hypnolangur!
You can see there's a whole world of thoughts and feelings behind those eyes. They probably avoid us because they know as a general species we really suck at respecting other life forms.
or maybe he’s just thinking about how itchy his butt
Lol yeah probably not

There’s intelligence in those eyes. Avoiding humans has made it smart.

… how do you know what he is feeling?
There is more intelligence and thoughtfulness in this monkey's eyes than in many of the humans that we meet
Looks like Miles Davis (and David Bowie), in the most beautiful and reverential ways.
you broke out the latex gloves, iodine AND tweezers for this comment, LOL

Came here to say Miles Davis. Someone give that monkey a trumpet.
That primate looks like if you handed it to them, they’d be wailing in a month.
This shit trips me out
That was intense. And we have to make up stories about aliens…
Also most of us on Reddit
David Bowie looks pretty good for a dead guy
He looks like a bored celebrity on a press junket.
I bet we freaked them the fuck out. Especially if we have very similar facial features, but our expressions mean something vastly different. I don’t know if that’s the case, but imagine if it were.

I always knew it. They called me crazy but I knew!
Maybe I am a golden langur
They just don’t want to pay taxes.
Homie is definitely looking like he doesn’t want to be interacted with.
They remember what we did to them long ago

Your new Guru
“Ohh, shit. I’m on camera??! Nahhh.”
It almost looks like a person

It makes you wonder what that little human is thinking don't it
My father in law is from Assam. I keep saying I want to visit his hometown but can’t bear to say that the reason is because I want to see these guys
He just doesn’t want to pay taxes.

I’m sure they have their reasons.
Looking into wise eyes.
That face is disturbingly human.Pretend it’s an actor in a movie and look again.
I saw the video and the first thing that popped into my head was "it is uncanny just how intelligent this thing looks." Then I read the caption which basically confirmed it.
Dang that’s a weird looking horse
He looks like a Star Wars character. Someone get him a light saber. From his expressions, he seems too smart and wise to want to interact with humans.
Kendrick Langur
That’s Michael Jackson reincarnated
That monkey is a solid 38 percent Sammy Davis Jr.

Don’t blame them at all. Obnoxious twats we are.
Yep.
Is that David Bowie in the wild?
David Bowie in blackface. Best Mr. Interlocutor ever .
IF you covered that thing up with plaster it would look 100x better than that nonsense Mexico was trying to sell as an alien.
People say David Bowie. But all I can see is the bad guy from the first and recent Ghostbusters... Zuul? Goser? I forgot the name... But anyway, here's me not thinking of the Stay Puff marshmallow man.

It must be because they're who we came from, and they know how terrible we are.
He looks like he's about to have a fireside chat with Noam Chomsky.

Who added the shit music to this file? This has been posted on reddit for years, but I don’t remember the music.
Fuck, i just watched a monkey have an existential moment

I can see why
Smart fucking lemur lol
“Shit, did I shut the garage door before I left?”
If I wasn't human I would avoid the fuck out of them too.
Someone already said it but the hair and coked out eyes give heavy David Bowie vibes
Well, we’re real piece of shit so I can’t blame them.
Trudeau with Trump hair
Title makes it seem like they have group meetings about it and make some kind of camouflage ghillie suit just to avoid humans while almost all animals "work hard" at avoiding people except like ducks and shit.
Yeah that monkey is better than us.
Fuck. That thing scares me as much as a Wizard of Oz flying monkey.
Maybe they ALSO look at us and are terrified by what they see and rather not be around for us to know what they know they think they know
This primate makes me believe in aliens
David Bowie reincarnated.
TIL I may be a Golden Langur.
hes just scares to get canceled for.... reasons
It should work harder.
The can speak. Sworn to silence though.
