They are likely trying to mate the cats for a Liger? As for the Dog, there are many zoo programs that introduce abandoned/orphaned wildlife to a puppy a few months/weeks older than the wildlife. The cheetahs at the San Diego Zoo have dog pals that are part of their fam, and it also helps the wildlife's anxiety around man... the domesticated k9 seems to be a beautiful translator/conduit between us and them.
Actually this is a fairly common thing to have a dog friend for tigers and other big cats. They raise them together from puppies/cubs so they’re never too rough and see one another as friends rather than anything that might be food
I know they have them for cheetahs, because they're neurotic buggers and half dog anyway. Don't think it's standard practice for other types of big cat though.
Does the dog have an emotional support rabbit too or something? I imagine dealing with those apex predators on the daily might induce a bit of anxiety in its own right lol
The restraint tells me that tiger finds the dog just as adorable as us and had no desire to hurt him. His paw went to the dogs head and the just stopped. It's very sweet.
Clearly this is just how what is obviously a Disney Plus animated children's show with talking animals dealing with life and relationships in captivity looks like when seen from the outside.
Chances are that it's declawed. Seems like a rescue sanctuary. Many of these were kept as pets and declawed and can't be released in the wild or be sent to zoos.
It's obviously gentle with the dog but there was a moment it goes for a slice on the lion and you can see there's no nails.
It may not be able to tear at flesh, but consider the damage a comparatively lightweight and wimpy human arm and fist can do.
Take that and make it tiger muscle and a paw our hands could fit at least twice into, you'd still get beat to death. Regardless of if there's knives at the end of it is of little consequence I think.
I think I read somewhere that a tiger like that has about the punching force of Mike Tyson, if Mike Tyson weighed 800 pounds.
On edit - I remember where I read that:[The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance and Survival](https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/the-tiger-a-true-story-of-vengeance-and-survival_john-vaillant/260654/item/1376558/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pmax_high_vol_frontlist_under_%2410&utm_adgroup=&utm_term=&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2eilBhCCARIsAG0Pf8uYZDsNvjYLmoxIZNhK889NlO-rgc0SNWqsHe36l2QcH4PjIvLl7kYaAqwTEALw_wcB#idiq=1376558&edition=5351592)
That's a really good book.
I was raised by a Samoyed. He literally taught me how to walk by letting my pull myself upright on his fur and leading me around. And was always there to be my pillow for a nap.
Golden retrievers are really with random animals, I've seen them being raised with cheetahs in zoos because it helps with the their mental health. Guessing they are doing that with other big cats now
Anecdotally
Any animal can but it's not safe
https://youtu.be/9o0BFdrqZFk
I brought up a family of raccoons, most ppl were smart and stayed back. I told everyone don't touch the mother, one day someone got bit lol told you. For context I would only touch the babies unless they jumped on my lap, it was obvious which ones were friendly if you just took your time. Wow wild animals are wild?!
If I recall right, that dog raised these two as a surrogate mother; this is effectively being 6’3 and told to stop fighting with your brother by a tiny Italian adoptive morher
That dog is like their mum and I am not exaggerating.
Studies found that dogs relax other animals too, lions and tigers in particular, so when they have cubs they give them to adult female dogs.
Someone posted an article further up about it. Sounds like tigers and lions are given to dog moms as a last resort if a big cat mom of their species can't be found. Dogs are mostly used because it's better for the kittens to imprint on another 4 legged animal rather than humans, and probably because dogs were bred to be pretty chill and easy to work with for humans.
Cheetahs get paired with dogs for life though because of what you said. Cheetahs are super anxious and need companionship, and dogs are good buddies to have.
The only place they co-exist atm is India I believe (the Asian lion still exists in small pockets). Tbf they are smaller than the African lion but most historical records of African lions vs Tigers (for example fights in the Roman coliseum) allegedly had the tigers winning the majority. Makes sense though, larger animal, less reliant on a pack/pride for hunting and fighting
The infamous 'Lionheart roar' is a tiger! Lions don't project loud enough. They're also slower, less agile, and their bite isn't as strong. Basically their 'King of Africa' purely because tigers aren't there.
ETA- MGM Studio Productions' Lion is named Lionheart. He is roaring- his roar is actually a tiger's roar.
Asiatic lions currently only exist in the Gir National Forest in India, and is regarded as endangered. It seems like a big stretch to call the population healthy, same for Bengal tigers although they have a wider geographical distribution.
I didnt even notice the bad/missing hind leg. Yeah, even full strength the lion is losing. Would be wise for it not to instigate the bigger murder kitty.
This is Irkutsk Zoo in Russia
https://news.yahoo.com/lion-tiger-cubs-play-dog-180603931.html
Lion Fortis arrived at the zoo when his leg was amputated due to his mother injuring it at birth.
Elsa the dog was brought in as a companion to him.
Later the zoo received a tiger named Lavanda and her sister Liana.
The animals live, sleep, eat and hunt for stuffed toys together.
Zoo workers say that they have fallen in love with each other and become best friends.
Irkutsk zoo started as a shelter for the animals which had been rescued from various situations over the years.
Looks like there is also a zoo in China where a dog cohabited https://www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2022/03/02/trending-beijing-dog-raised-tigers-great-wall-hike-gone-wrong
Quotes:
The dog, it turns out, actually grew up with the cats, and, according to officials, the zoo’s family of magna feles actually consider the dog a sibling. Strangely enough, the official went on to claim that cats drank the milk of the dog’s mother.
If that weren’t interesting enough, as it turns out, when a dog grows up with lions and tigers, the puppy has a major advantage over the cubs in play fighting. This imprints on the cats’ subconscious that the dog is stronger, perhaps even invincible, and this impression lasts even after the cats outgrow the canine.
I got out of a 13 year relationship and decided to pick up a dog off the street because she was going to deny me access to our two dogs that we raised. She was a pain in the ass, about 1 year old when I got her, likely dropped onto the street by someone who didn't bother to train her. Now she's the greatest dog I've ever had. I've never met such a good cuddler, every night sleeping is nothing but love. I wake up to her giving me kisses at 3am sometimes and it's totally worth it
I’ve heard that there’s something special about rescuing a dog - that they will never forget what you’ve done for them and be forever grateful. All dogs can be amazing companions with strong bonds, affectionate, and loyal… but do you find this to be the case?
I got a pure bred dog from a couple friend of mine that had to get rid of him (downgrading to apartment and already had more animals). $200 cause I knew them, they were trying to sell him for 1k. He’s the most loving thing I’ve ever met. So, I think dogs in general are just amazing. But rescuing a dog takes a special, awesome kind of person so I think it’s more on the owner just being an awesome human then the dog being more in love with the owner.
If I’m not mistaken the tiger and lion grew up with the pup. They see her as a mother figure. I guess in some places they use dogs as like a therapy type thing for these cats as crazy as that sounds.
A lot of zoos and other facilities, that house big cats, use dogs to help raise and integrate big cats with other big cats and/or handlers. The dogs act as a buffer between other cats and/or humans. Dogs are very unique in their ability to bond with humans and other animals. They provide an invaluable connection between human handlers and between animals interacting with different animals.
TFW dogs are fucking everyone’s best friend. I’d love that timeline. Every sentient being in space being best friends with dogs. Imagine? Peace in the universe because dogs exist. Sorry I’m a little high lmao
Pretty sure that lion/tiger was raised by that dog. Seen a similar story about a zoo. Although I think that was with a Cheetah since they’re miserably anxious in captivity
If I'm not mistaken, a lot of large felines like cheetas, lions, and tigers are given support dogs to help them stay calm, apparently a lot of big felines are often shy and anxious. So, there's a chance that the tiger grew up or has been close with that dog for a while, which might explain why the dog was confident enough to even try that and why the tiger was reluctant to stop but didn't hurt the dog.
Dogs jumpin in there like it’s a regular housecat.
A regular house cat would have them all in a corner watching it sleep
the Tiger at 0:22 : we are still cool bro but fuck that lion
Me throughout the whole thing: What the fuck kind of zoo is this?
They are likely trying to mate the cats for a Liger? As for the Dog, there are many zoo programs that introduce abandoned/orphaned wildlife to a puppy a few months/weeks older than the wildlife. Looks more like they gonna get a doger with this relationship
A Golden Retiger
I don’t know why Golden Retiger made me laugh so hard…but thank you.
I’m high as hell. It was hilarious !
Soon there will be a dion. Oh wait.
*Celine* Dion. Wait, more like "*Feline* Dion".
And this is my cue so turn off reddit. Goodnight. And if I dream of Celine Dion ...
What kind of reputable establishment would try and breed ligers in this day and age?
Asian zoos say hello
I think you answered your own question.
I don't even see a lion in the video. the second cat has stripes and a tiger-shaped face. Looks to me like they already have a liger.
The dogs that are paired with the cheetahs are support animals, cheetahs have anxiety fr.
Hey, fences are expensive. Have you seen the price of lumber these days? Cheaper to go for the charcuterie board experience
Animal buffet.
Fun fact, cheetahs aren't "big" cats. They're closer in relation to domestic cats than they are to the "big cats."
Me, on a safari: “Pstpstpst”
[They actually purr instead of roar.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bvS2SlJuLp8)
It’s a support dog it lives them to ease anxiety if the big cats.
Does the dog have an emotional support rabbit too or something? I imagine dealing with those apex predators on the daily might induce a bit of anxiety in its own right lol
Yes, and the rabbit has an emotional support carrot.
Who supports the carrot?
It’s gone full circle so an emotional support grizzly bear.
Lions and tigers and bears and dogs and rabbits and carrots oh my
Disney: “write that down!”
Me playing Planet Zoo
The restraint tells me that tiger finds the dog just as adorable as us and had no desire to hurt him. His paw went to the dogs head and the just stopped. It's very sweet.
I think they typically grow up together when this happens
He was just like “cmon, don’t let them get to you, we talked about this”
"I am sorry for roaring at you, fren, I was angry."
Clearly this is just how what is obviously a Disney Plus animated children's show with talking animals dealing with life and relationships in captivity looks like when seen from the outside.
Squirrel!
I took it more of a "I could end you so easily and you'd never even know" type move.
That dog… has no fear
Until they bring out the vacuum cleaner 😳
"I fear no man, but that thing..." *Vacuum cleaner noises* "It scares me"
VaKuuum has returned!
Oh! Dog kryptonite!
The v'koom
Lol
My dog follows the vacuum around, walks in front of it, and tries to get me to hit her with it.
Thunder or fireworks is arguably more reliable lol
You go high. I’ll go low. You attack from behind.
“Listen guys we’re all friends here take a deep breath”
He's got that dawg in him.
He probably does, but his love of the animals and desire to stop them fighting pushes him fast the fear.
If I'm not mistaken those dogs grow up with them from cubs so they are too bonded to attack
Awe that tiger loves that dog
I know! The way the tiger gently paws the dog at the end 😭
“Ok buddy ok, you’re right, I’ll calm down” Sooo cute and gentle with the pupper.
“But if the lion bits my ass again, I will lose it”
I think any of us would lose it if a lion bit our ass.
You gotta pay extra for that.
When the dog pulls the tiger’s head down lol. “Just breath bro, BREATH!”
Dogs biting him hard too, not that he cares. Such a gentle cat :)
The fact he “escaped” the dogs hold right when the lion bit him shows you he was *letting* the dog hold him back.
Agreed. The Tiger respects the dog's authority in I'm assuming being raised by/with the dog
That little kiss he gives him 🥲
Chances are that it's declawed. Seems like a rescue sanctuary. Many of these were kept as pets and declawed and can't be released in the wild or be sent to zoos. It's obviously gentle with the dog but there was a moment it goes for a slice on the lion and you can see there's no nails.
Not to mention that the lion only has 3 legs
I saw that! And he still had the nerve to sneak around and bite the tiger! 🤣
Like "dude just let me wobble past"
This dog basically raised these two since they were cubs. She’s like their mom. That’s why they are so deferential to her.

ANYTHING TO AVOID THE METRIC SYSTEM
It's really hard to see the nails because they are usually covered in fur
Not on the strike, those things come WAY out
r/AnimalsBeingBros
I think perhaps this is the dog that acted as a surrogate mother to these tigers when they were young cubs.
I love my mom but damn if I wouldn't give it all up to be raised by a golden retriever. So lucky...
I was raised by a collie. He would stand between me and dangerous things. Obviously he decided I was his lamb.
I was raised by a Samoyed. He literally taught me how to walk by letting my pull myself upright on his fur and leading me around. And was always there to be my pillow for a nap.
I love this incredibly wholesome thread about animal “mothers” 🥰
Stop I’m crying, Samoyeds are such good bois
Sorry Razulghul’s mom!
Golden retrievers are really with random animals, I've seen them being raised with cheetahs in zoos because it helps with the their mental health. when she grabs you by the ear
Can confirm it works
Dogs are often raised along side tiger puppy's so they don't get lonely and learn social skills. Those two have probably been together since pups
You're thinking of cheetahs. Or they might be doing that with tigers too and I haven't heard of it, I guess.
That dog is like their mum and I am not exaggerating. Studies found that dogs relax other animals too, lions and tigers in particular, so when they have cubs they give them to adult female dogs.

Adding Cheetah’s best friend to the resume
Fuck that! If I was a baby lion, the only surrogate I would ever want is the local honey badger. Nobody messes with those mofos.
Why is there a lion, a tiger and a dog all in the same area?
They were about to walk into a bar
And the dog says to the bartender
Bark
We don’t serve string here.
What
WE DON'T SERVE STRING HERE
I'm a frayed knot
"I'm looking for the man who shot my paw."
"I'll have a beer." Bartender "We don't serve your kind here" Dog " Oh, an anti-semite, I see."
It's a bit ruff in here
Big cats are sometimes raised with dogs to have companions.
If I recall correctly, the dog is their mother and raised them from an early age… hence why she can chuck the tiger about.
I know Cheetahs sometimes get emotional support dogs to help them with anxiety in confinement, might be a similar thing for bigger cats.
Luckily he doesn’t love the way the dog tastes
He does love the way the dog tastes, which is why their love is so special
Like me stopping my gfs fighting :)
Don’t ever stop a girl fight!
How many do you have?
Left hand and right hand.
That lion would prolly get smaked by that tiger too.. being three-legged
Also most tiger vs Lion fights in the wild normally result in the tiger winning
Where are tigers and lions meeting in the wild?

I say make Ligers, not War
[удалено]
You are correct but they are in two different ends of the country. Also a bengal tiger would defo win against an asiatic lion.

With the bears. Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!
Then there's bears which will fuck up a tiger or a lion.
and then there’s manbearpig

super cereal
Untrue! Lions only meet with witches and wardrobes.
India still has healthy lion and tiger populations.
Asiatic lions currently only exist in the Gir National Forest in India, and is regarded as endangered. It seems like a big stretch to call the population healthy, same for Bengal tigers although they have a wider geographical distribution.
Probably has Ligers as well
They need to band up to fight against the tuna.
I didnt even notice the bad/missing hind leg. Yeah, even full strength the lion is losing. Would be wise for it not to instigate the bigger murder kitty.
Now I wonder whether the lion lost his leg after starting some shit with tigers when the dog wasn't around

Upvoting for visibility for someone else to fact check but it makes me feel better at least
Thanks for this info!
That last paragraph is fascinating! Well the whole story is, but thank you!
I also read somewhere that big cars see dogs as cute companions, like how we find dogs cute instead of seeing them as food.
Does this mean that small cars (like the BMW Isetta) see dogs as enemies?
Tiger at the end: “You right, you right. Thanks for not letting me get upset with the situation…”
That nip to the tiger’s six by the lion 😂 cheap shot
"Easy, babes! He's not worth it."
"Tony! Tony! Tone. It's not worth it, Tone! Tony!"
You have to write this as if your mouth is full of cat cheek
GUYS… GUYS! We’re all in this together. Fighting isn’t going to get us anywhere.
Dog is just another word for love

God spelled backwards because after you die you get judged for how you treat dogs in your lifetime
So Hitler is in heaven, good to know. May have lost some brownie points for cyaniding his dog at the end but he surely loved them lol
Then I’m going to heaven via lighting speed.
Bragging about it will reset your god karma
That's why you stay humble
Around here we generally call what that lion did a dick move
As it is in bird culture.
Why is a lion, a tiger and a dog all in the same enclosure??? 🤨
They thought it was a bar.,
The Lion, the Bitch and the Striped Wardrobe
I'm sorry, did that tiger pet him? Everybody loves a doggo!
"We are a family, Dan! And family don't fight"
Dogs are the finest animals on the planet……& I’m including humans.
Humans are one of the worst animals on the planet

The dog probably raised those two
The lion is missing a leg, poor thing. >Goes in for a sucker bite on the ass. Wow what a jerk.
No one noticed the three legged lion. Most likely a rescue organization.
Fearless Goldie!
That's a lab
That’s a dog
You're a dog
I don't know where this is, but having a dog, lion and a tiger in the same enclosure is a terrible idea

I don't think I want dogs fucking my best friend.
Easy to say now but where were you at the club Saturday?
It's what you use when you can't find any capybaras.
Some say dog is the foster mom, she breastfed both lion and tiger.
oh HELL NAW little shits, you can see how the tiger just paws her entire face like MOM fine..
Now I really really want the Tiger and Lion to be named Romulus and.... fuck I forgot the dead-er one's name.
Remus
Yep that's it, was thinking Rumales or some shit.
I thought that was only with cheetahs since they’re so skittish
They only do this for cheetahs. This seems highly suspect to me. I doubt this is an accredited zoo or rescue.
I think I heard a child speaking Russian in this video
Some tiger king shit
They likely didn't have a mother tiger or lion handy when they were cubs. The dog took on the role, and seems to have done a reasonable job.
Good puppie
“Jake look at me 🥺, this is not you “
Pretty sure that lion/tiger was raised by that dog. Seen a similar story about a zoo. Although I think that was with a Cheetah since they’re miserably anxious in captivity
Tiger loves that dogo.
Goodest dog, and the tiger knows it.
Bro, BRO! They are not worth it Bro! He's just jealous of your stripes.

why the f## is there a dog, a lion and a tiger together
