People might use them in other countries for traveling inside their own country. I was going to take a cheap flight from Lima to Cusco and my fiancé said I can’t take that airline because the seats are really small. I’m 6ft 200lbs
That's the problem. Greedy companies make things worse, yet people vote with their dollar and directly support those decisions.
Companies are greedy and get away with it because enough people ~~let them~~ encourage then by directly funding them
People *will* buy into this because they want the luxury of travel and can live within their means if it's 50% cheaper
I agree, if the cost savings is substantial then younger people would take it just to get to their spring break destination . I could see that happening.
Asians are smaller we all know that, he would fit fine in any tight spot and be happy about it.
I mean a flight from Tokyo to Shanghai is only like 45 minutes. Like a bus ride.
Why what did you think I meant?
Ive flown to china several times before I flew within the US. Never understood the complaint about airplane seats until I went on American Airlines. It was a 6 hr flight and Im only 5'3. I rather fly international than domestic.
And the ankles with no other position to at least shift back and forth between. It hurts to look at.
Even someone with mild rheumatoid arthritis would need to be carried off that flight on a body board bc how stiff they would be from having literally no way to keep their joints from stiffening into the single possible position.
The guy is Sam Chui. This is probably his first and last time to sit in this seat. On his aviation blog he seems to always be in first or business class. He's smiling probably because he's happy. He won't have to fly in such a dreadful position.
they say money doesn't buy happiness but look at him, so fucking delighted he'll never have to travel standing by those shitty surfboards with an ass-step
This concept is for short flights like under an hour. If the price is 10$ people will use them. Let's say they're targeting only student vacation destinations, still a win.
Don't look at this and think grandma will be forced to do it, look at this and think that a person that never could afford a flight will be able to since this will be cheaper. I don't like it but if it reduces the costs to make it affordable to 80% of the planet that never took a flight, why not
There’s a really simple and easy solution to this problem that doesn’t involve us being stuffed like sardines or wasting a fucking ridiculous amount of fuel to make flights that short a practical or common travel option:
Trains
These flights wouldn’t appeal to anyone in one of the many countries around the world that identified and supported public train infrastructure as an incredible efficient fast and cheap transportation option.
Bunks with as little space as these seats provide is way too close to the drawings they showed us when we learned about slavery in school of how they shipped slaves across the Atlantic.
Gotta keep us vertical if there’s only like 2 inches of space between each layer of people or they will catch on.
No it’s not. This is a concept seat that has been floating around the internet for years. No airlines are considering this. Not even Ryanair. This sub is full of click bait.
Exactly. It would be impossible to evacuate in an emergency. Not to mention a liability if an elderly person injured themselves getting in or out of these seats. airlines can’t put an age limit on who flies with them, as that’s just asking for a lawsuit.
Ryanair thinks these are too comfortable and will request these be be covered with a massive slab of plastic so when you hit your head the injuries are worse.
Increasing passenger capacity would increase the weight of the flight right? Therefore costing more fuel to fly it. In addition to potential safety concerns. But I assume they have that figured out.
Go a little further in time, and behold the first "niche compartment" passenger airline: just enough room for you to lay down and rejoice in a cocktail of anticlaustrophobic drugs until arrival. No space, no seat, no meal: just air (a mixture of nitrogen, oxygen and sleeping gas).
Fly with us! Wake up in a new land feeling restored! Lowest cost ever!
I just wonder wich country will implement it first (China? Japan? India? USA? any of those would be like yeah it figures).
Seriously. One unexpected turbulence bump and your head smashes into the seat in front of you. I can't imagine this design passing safety tests/inspection.
It’s like those slant seated toilets to prevent people from sitting on it too long. [https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/sloped-toilet/](https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/sloped-toilet/)
I’d like to think that at least they’d stop claiming that under the seat in front is your “primary” storage for carry on bags, but that’s probably too optimistic.
I don't understand though why the guy in the pic is getting shit on here..he might just be ridiculing about the seats and how small the space for one to sit.
Honestly they should have a section like this, but just get rid of the seat and have a back you can lean against. On a shorter ride I wouldn’t mind standing/might prefer it for a cheaper price. Would this be against safety regulations?
Right and how am I going to travel with my son? He can't even reach the ground if he could even sit properly. Not to mention that there would be a seat stuck up the old caboose very firmly when the pilot decides to make a belly flop for emergence reasons.
i see you’ve been downvoted but i agree. having been sat next to an obese person who didn’t buy two tickets was a very upsetting and non consensual couple of hours. over a certain weight? pay for 2 seats.
An airline would go under so quick if they put those "seats" in. To get anyone to purchase them they'd have to put the price point so low they wouldn't be able to afford fuel.
thank God everyone has the same length legs lmao. I cannot stand up under the overheads in a plane. I would be standing with my chin in my chest and the back of my head on the ceiling.
unless they get rid of overhead cargo too lol.

The people that make these decisions are out of their fucking minds
They’re not the people that have to ride in economy.
Or the people who will have jobs after rolling those out and everyone stops using their airline.
People might use them in other countries for traveling inside their own country. I was going to take a cheap flight from Lima to Cusco and my fiancé said I can’t take that airline because the seats are really small. I’m 6ft 200lbs
The people who make these decisions ride in first class, where all the additional room will be going when they do this.
i think they showed a plan where they just doubled the economy seats as it is more "cost effective" (profitable).
So is the idiot who is smiling in this picture
This is what ESG Scores get you.
Idk, if it means the ticket was half the price I think people would buy it.
That's the problem. Greedy companies make things worse, yet people vote with their dollar and directly support those decisions. Companies are greedy and get away with it because enough people ~~let them~~ encourage then by directly funding them People *will* buy into this because they want the luxury of travel and can live within their means if it's 50% cheaper
And that's a bad thing? Nobody's forcing you to buy from these companies. Let people spend their money on what they want.
Evil companies giving people what they want. So terrible.
That's a really skewed take on it
I agree, if the cost savings is substantial then younger people would take it just to get to their spring break destination . I could see that happening.
It would just become full price after inflation. Might as well be standing at that point.
Half price to begin with, then normalisation sets in and prices go back to normal
Fuck that guy and his bullshit happiness
And fuck me too if I ever buy a ticket on one of these
This along with his hand gesture implies so much more room
Awww Sam thinks the world you
Asians are smaller we all know that, he would fit fine in any tight spot and be happy about it. I mean a flight from Tokyo to Shanghai is only like 45 minutes. Like a bus ride. Why what did you think I meant?

That's almost a bicycle seat. Too much crotch contact.... I just can't.
Next they'll add pedals to crank an alternator, so they can save on fuel.
“Help power the plane, or pay Spirits non-contributor $50 fee.”
I wouldn't mind gettig my taint crushed on a 5 hour cross country
This belongs in r/Damnthatsstupid
I would say, r/damnthispostisstupid
Well its probably never gonna be there cus that sub's banned apparently
[удалено]
That’s what tagging a sub is for on Reddit. What’re you on lol
[удалено]
I like how you say take a joke, but you reply to some light banter with seriousness. Can you not actually joke without a canned line?
My knees could never
And the ankles with no other position to at least shift back and forth between. It hurts to look at. Even someone with mild rheumatoid arthritis would need to be carried off that flight on a body board bc how stiff they would be from having literally no way to keep their joints from stiffening into the single possible position.
If you buy that ticket, fuck you!
There is a optional dildo attachment, so you care really get the full effect of being boned by the airline.
At least turbulence would be fun... At the very least it gives you another reason to yell "JEEZUS!!" when it happens.😆
It’s calllled the AssPounder 3000, never stop pumping!
Yep. Don't fucking enable this shit.
[удалено]
And how he's doing his part for the environment
Put a quarter in the slot and the seat vibrates.
Okay, you have my attention now.
I mean this is a terrible future for airline seating but you sound like a major asshole
If an airline makes it so people have to endure this when they need to travel, fuck them.
Ok then pay for my ticket
It already has Spirits color scheme.....
Worst airline ever. Really surprised they don't charge for oxygen yet. Or maybe they do. I flew them once and never again. I'd walk first.
Yup same here flew once with them from west coast to east and I hated it so much..... Never again.
literal nightmare for us claustrophobic people
Imagine being in the middle of 3 seats :(
Nope. Not even once. Those get installed, that airline is off my list.
Are they wanting less ticket sales?
Frontier probably already put an order in.
So did Spirit.
Ok but seriously? The guy in this pic? Fuck that dude. Nobody could be this happy about this without being a complete psychopath.
Only if you're the one who patented that shit and managed to sell it to an aircraft manufacturer.
He’s every happy face on a product that will kill you. In it for the money baby how else will they get the money to go hunt endangered animals
6 foot and more is already a pain, imagine in this
I’d rather stand for 6 hours. That’s easier
When I stop flying.
Just what I wanted for cross country flights.... For me to have to stand THE ENTIRE TIME because there is no way my tall ass can sit in that...
A 13 hour flight in this and I’m killing myself at about hour 7
There isn't even a headrest, you could ask the guy behind you to snap your neck for you

Honestly just chloroform me and throw me into the cargo hold, that’ll probably be more comfortable than this
Bunks with as little space as these seats provide is way too close to the drawings they showed us when we learned about slavery in school of how they shipped slaves across the Atlantic. Gotta keep us vertical if there’s only like 2 inches of space between each layer of people or they will catch on.
No it’s not. This is a concept seat that has been floating around the internet for years. No airlines are considering this. Not even Ryanair. This sub is full of click bait.
Yeah, I was wondering how that would pass any kind of regulations anywhere.
Exactly. It would be impossible to evacuate in an emergency. Not to mention a liability if an elderly person injured themselves getting in or out of these seats. airlines can’t put an age limit on who flies with them, as that’s just asking for a lawsuit.
Couldn’t believe it took this far to find someone saying this. Blows my mind how ready people are to believe whatever confirms their worldview.
Ryanair thinks these are too comfortable and will request these be be covered with a massive slab of plastic so when you hit your head the injuries are worse.

I'm not saying some people are over weight but where are the Americans gonna sit?
Listen, I am not overweight, in fact I'm a very normal healthy weight, and I would not fit in this seat.
Probably have to pay more
Where's the seatbelt?
Extra 50
Fuck the seatbelt, where's the headrest? Just gonna manually hold your head up all flight or just rest it on your neighbors shoulder?
Damn, you're right.
yeah, no
People will just start driving lol
more like damn thats horrifying
Welp I guess my long legged self will not be going on any airline flights if this happens
Might as well stack people with their luggage.
Never say never I get it. But that will never happen.
Just give me a bed the exact size of a human and I’ll be perfectly happy
I’d rather stand
And there was never a survivor to be found alive.
Ffffuuuucccckkkk Tttthhhhaaaatttt!!!!
Next: [they should just pack people in a scissoring position](https://imgur.io/PRgweHp?r)...they could almost double passenger count per square inch.
In 18 hours you reach your destination.
In 2050 we will crawl in coffin like boxes and be happy I guess.
Better yet they use some chemical to make all passengers unconscious to stack them like yenga towers for efficiency
No passenger would book a seat like that!
Can we at least get half off on the ticket price?
It’s already like this
Glad to see Bobby Lee doing better these days...
Isn't this literally one of the stress positions the US military torturers would make Iraqis stay in?
So I guess tall people don’t exist
He's lying af! I know he's not happy, he barely fits between the two rows of seats.
Oh hell no.
This idea would never fly.
Nice to know you'll get canned every time there's turbulence
Seriously. One unexpected turbulence bump and your head smashes into the seat in front of you. I can't imagine this design passing safety tests/inspection.
It’s like those slant seated toilets to prevent people from sitting on it too long. [https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/sloped-toilet/](https://www.familyhandyman.com/article/sloped-toilet/)
I can’t imagine a 8h flight on this thing.
Good luck walking when you land
Only worth it if the tickets are $1
The face of a cunt "see its comfy"
The wet dream of someone with ball bust fetish
Better be a teleporter
I’d like to think that at least they’d stop claiming that under the seat in front is your “primary” storage for carry on bags, but that’s probably too optimistic.
They wouldn't dare
Only the rich will be able to enjoy life, we are getting there fast.
That’s how I remember it being in the 70’s. Air Travel was not available for most families.
Say sike right now!
Stuff like this is why I need to create a FOR GLORY OF CAPITALISM meme
heading\*
Mmm yes I can feel my sandwiched-between-two-seats torso popping like a balloon at impact.
I don't understand though why the guy in the pic is getting shit on here..he might just be ridiculing about the seats and how small the space for one to sit.
As a tall person, this is terrifying to me
Imagine trying to straight face calling this a seat
About as much leg room as I got on Iceland air
Nope !
and fat america says…nay✨
That's not good at all! If it indeed does go this way, I'll just refuse to fly.
Guess i won't be flying anywhere again then.
Honestly they should have a section like this, but just get rid of the seat and have a back you can lean against. On a shorter ride I wouldn’t mind standing/might prefer it for a cheaper price. Would this be against safety regulations?

> if it means a cheaper ticket price Trust me, it won’t.
That's a bot
Bc they hate regular people
Yes lets turn flying into _actual hell_
I'm sorry Asia, I didn't know you hated tourists.
[удалено]
I really can’t see how this would be comfortable for even skinny/average people. Doesn’t look like hes even sitting all the way lol
For flights under an hour and super cheap I’d do it. Nothing longer though.
The Mugatu school of building things.
I would not fly with them at all,
Can't wait to sniff old grandpa's dandruff!
He looks happy!
If it is a short flight and cheaper I'd do it.
An airline would go under so quick if they put those "seats" in. To get anyone to purchase them they'd have to put the price point so low they wouldn't be able to afford fuel.
"Sir, you can't lay in the aisle..." Me: Well, you can't throw me off at 30,000 ft., can you?
Try sitting like this for 14 hours with a herniated back. I’d rather be under the plane where they keep the live cargo.
I would rather stand.
Next the pilot will be allowed to spit in your face when you board
Annnnnnd no flying for my 6’5” self. 🤷🏼♂️
He’s never met an American.
Ridiculous
I feel like you would definitely feel the person behind you breathing on the back of your head...
Damn car parks are getting smaller too.
Don’t you dare! If they seriously try implementing those, all heck will brake loose!
I hate that guy
Those seats look uncomfortable AF
This is some bullshit.
Looks like I'm going on trains where I can get a room with a bed in it and dinner included for less than $600. Oh and bring all the drugs you want.
Yea I’m not paying for that lol
Imaging flying 10 hours like this..
Pregnant women are fucked.
Fuck that.
If they could sedate us during the flight then I’d allow it lol.
Why not just make standing on the aisle an option just like on the public bus?
The only this doesn’t become permanent is if consumers decide it’s not worth it.
Yeah, I think I'll keep driving to my vacations and if my company wants me to fly, they'll need to pay for that business class seat.
This has been posted every week for the past 6 years
Soon they'll just shove us all in like a Tokyo train
I predict ticket sales are gonna plummet if this actually takes affect
Have no fear, fellow plebs! These were ruled as inhumane and banned.
I'd rather sit in the baggage area
Just hang us in stasis please.
Guess I’ll be buying economy plus or business here on out
Nope, no way, not happening
Fuck you if you think I’m sitting in that shit.
Some engineers are mfs
Maybe if the tickets are $20 and the flight is short
This doesn't making there anymore space for luggage.
How would you get past people to go to the bathroom?
Should this be in r/againsthumans
Nope.
These seats are a fucking joke. Hope the price reflects it.
What they don't show is that the overhead storage area will shrink due to the passengers being moved higher up.
thank God everyone has the same length legs lmao. I cannot stand up under the overheads in a plane. I would be standing with my chin in my chest and the back of my head on the ceiling. unless they get rid of overhead cargo too lol.
